I think it would be nice to have some way of showing what messages in a room are new if you are in a room but don't have it open and then you switch back to the room. This is related to how the tab with the room title turns orange when there are new messages, except that I'm thinking it would be nice to know which messages are new. Maybe something like how Discord has the red "New Messages" line in chat so you can scroll back to find wherever you were and then read from there to get caught up. I don't know how hard anything like this would be to implement, but basically just some sort of indication to show what messages are new or how many new messages there are.
