[SET COMMENTS]
With access to a deep utility movepool, great defensive abilities, and Eviolite, Hisuian Qwilfish can take on many offensive threats. Intimidate is useful to weaken physical attackers, allowing it to tank strong neutral attacks from the likes of Ursaring and Tauros. Hisuian Qwilfish can also make use of Poison Point to punish contact moves, even generally commitment-free moves like Scyther's and Mesprit's U-turn. Barb Barrage is preferred over stronger options like Poison Jab and Gunk Shot thanks to its high chance to poison, as well as dealing double damage to a poisoned target. Taunt helps to dismantle setup sweepers such as Eelektross while also preventing Defog. Haze is an option over Taunt to prevent setup sweepers like Tera Steel Mesprit and Eelektross from exploiting Hisuian Qwilfish's passivity. Toxic can also be run over Taunt to take advantage of Defog users removing your Spikes and cripple opposing walls like Appletun, Articuno, and Eelektross. Crunch is an extra STAB option that beats Ghost- and Psychic-types like Froslass, Rotom, and Bruxish. Toxic Spikes can be used over Crunch to punish teams that have no grounded Poison-type or entry hazard control. Tera Grass enables Hisuian Qwilfish to set more Spikes against Sandaconda thanks to its Earthquake resistance after Terastallizing. Tera Grass also gives Hisuian Qwilfish a resistance to Volt Switch, allowing it to more easily beat Rotom and Eelektross. Alternatively, Tera Ghost lets it spinblock Cryogonal and Avalugg. 56 Speed EVs allows Hisuian Qwilfish to outspeed maximum Speed Cacturne as well as neutral-nature Abomasnow and Farigiraf; Jolly allows Hisuian Qwilfish to always outspeed the latter two.
Pokemon that like to take advantage of Spikes, such as Tauros, love having Hisuian Qwilfish around to add some extra chip damage. To maximize the effect of Spikes and keep them up as long as possible, Hisuian Qwilfish appreciates help from Rotom, Cryogonal, and Articuno, which all put pressure onto Defog users like Braviary and Lurantis. Without Terastallizing, Hisuian Qwilfish folds to Sandaconda and other strong physical attackers that can switch into it like Toxicroak, Hisuian Sneasel, and both Tauros formes. To help solve this issue, Pokemon such as your own Sandaconda, Hattrem, and Drifblim can pivot into their attacks and threaten them with paralysis or burn. Hisuian Qwilfish is hindered by losing its Eviolite via Knock Off and Trick, pair it with Pokemon that can afford to lose their item such as Sandaconda, Sableye, and Sticky Hold Muk.
