Calyrex-Shadow @ Focus Sash
Ability: As One (Spectrier)
Level: 50
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Astral Barrage
- Pollen Puff
- Bulldoze
- Protect
Support Calyrex-S stampedes into the VGC metagame with its unique combination of offense and utility! This set with Pollen Puff and Bulldoze was used by Zac Emerzian to support his Weakness Policy Solgaleo at the Salt Lake City regional championship, a strategy that earned him 7th place out of over 160 competitors. As Calyrex-S is extremely fast and immune to Fake Out, it can often get a guaranteed Bulldoze off on turn 1, both activating a Dynamaxed Solgaleo's Weakness Policy and providing speed control for the entire team. Pollen Puff is not primarily an offensive tool, but instead a way to heal its teammates up. Calyrex-S still demands the opponent's focus, though, as it can quickly snowball with Grim Neigh by picking up KOs with Astral Barrage if left unchecked. Be aware that the Calyrex-S + Solgaleo core stacks weaknesses to Restricted Ghost- and Dark-types like Yveltal, Lunala, and opposing Calyrex-S, so be sure to pair them with Dark- and Fairy-types like Incineroar, Grimmsnarl, and Tapu Fini.
