After some quick conferring, the battle begins! Hawlucha starts by flying high into the sky, avoiding all attacks for the round. Then, Shaun the Vulpix summons a magical mist, creating a safe guard against all status conditions. Enryu the Combusken follows by bringing a rock slide, which strikes Torchic and Shroomish, while Hawlucha soars above. The shock of the rocks has caused Torchic to flinch, and it cringes, trying to recover. Shroomish tries to cover for its teammate, and launches spores meant to stun towards Combusken, which dissipate within the safeguard's mist. While Shroomish pauses, puzzled by its failure to stun, Rob the Slugma launches a flame straight at it, which bursts and splashes onto Torchic, and somehow, the still airborne Hawlucha. Then Hawlucha soars from the sky and flies right into Combusken, dealing a painful blow.
Not content with waiting around to get hit by an angered Combusken, Hawlucha bounces high into the sky, dodging out of the way of a flame thrown from Vulpix's mouth. Hawlucha was not the intended target, though, and the flame flies straight and true and hits Shroomish in the face. To add insult to injury, Shroomish was burned by the intensity of the flames. Combusken then brings in yet another rock slide, with similar results to last time. But this time, neither Torchic nor Shroomish flinch, and Torchic counters with a rock slide of its own. Shroomish, obviously fearing its situation, launches seeds at Slugma to leech some of its life, but unfortunately, they miss! Poor mushroom can't catch a break, and for its efforts it is met with a flame burst to the face. Hawlucha then falls from the sky, kicking Combusken in the face, before bouncing back to safety. All the while, Shroomish grimaces, hurt by its burn.

Canis's fiery team has made it out relatively unscathed, while on Birkal's side Hawlucha's taken almost no damage save for an inexplicably large-radiused pair of flame burst even as Shroomish's been through fire and back. Who will seize the advantage next round?

Combusken's Rock Slide on Torchic does not require a hit roll, as it is 90% acc and Torchic has -10% Evasion (meaning 100% acc). Similarly, Torchic's Rock Slide on Slugma does not require a hit roll.
On the other hand, Fly and Bounce have 95% and 85% accuracy respectively, and without any modifiers, these require an accuracy roll.

Oh, and by the way, all attack/defense rank boni (you know, the 4-2 or 3-2) are multiplied by 1.5 (so instead of being (BAP + ARBonus - DRBonus) it's (BAP + (ARBonus - DRBonus)*1.5).)

And this round begins with Shroomish, knowing that it will soon lose consciousness, giving a helping hand to Hawlucha, who jumps up and slams into Combusken for a devastating flying press! As the chicken grimaces in pain, a fiery power blazes through it! All the while, Vulpix takes the opportunity and hits Shroomish with a flamethrower! Then, Combusken finishes the poor mushroom off as it overheats, and releases a devastating blast of fiery energy. It pants, tired, and is helpless against the slide of rocks Torchic bring. It, too, falls, and Slugma can do nothing for it has flinched from the rocks.
Hawlucha looks to repeat the actions of the previous round, and goes in for a flying press... into the ground, just inches away from Vulpix, who launches a pulse of dark energy at Torchic. Slugma follows, and throws a rock at Torchic. They don't question Torchic's lack of action, which proves to be a mistake when Torchic calls a slide of rocks larger than the one they had seen before, which slams into both of them.

And the next round begins, even as it seems as if the battle will soon be at a close. Hawlucha flies into the air once more, poised to strike, while Torchic cools down from the effort of that deluge of rocks last round. Rob the Slugma takes the opportunity to recover, and it is noticeably healthier as parts of its body regenerate. Hawlucha slams into Vulpix as it finishes its flight. Then, Vulpix unleashes a devastating series of heat waves, doing a considerable amount of damage to both Torchic and the now-landed Hawlucha. But will it be enough?
Hawlucha bounces right back into the air after the heat wave, as Vulpix cools down. Torchic, now recovered, summons a normal-sized rock slide. Then, Slugma spits some sort of toxin at Torchic. The chick is hurt by poison, and as the round draws to a close the poison seems to get worse.

I just realized I forgot to account for Magma Armor's damage reduction on Slugma. I'm really sorry about that. I've gone back/am going back and updated/ing Slugma's HP. As far as I can tell, it's maybe a 3-4 HP difference.

EDIT: A 5 net HP difference total. I'm really sorry about this. It's not that big of an effect, but still.

And the battle's drawing closer and closer to its final round! Torchic begins by preparing to endure any hits, preventing it from getting KO'd for at least one more round. Hawlucha jumps up, and lands a flying press on Vulpix, who launches a dark pulse at the enduring Torchic. Slugma supports this action with a rock, thrown at Torchic, who cringes, hurt by poison. Then, Hawlucha jumps high into the sky, and kicks Vulpix in the face! What does the fox say? Nothing, for the damage is so severe that Vulpix has fainted! Torchic tries to enact a large reversal of its damages on Slugma, but the move fails! After all, combining attacks while enduring turns out to be too difficult for the poor chick, and it struggles instead. Slugma throws another rock at it, but Torchic endures the hit, only to keel over and faint from poison.

Only two Pokemon stand on either side of the field, Rob the Slugma and Hawlucha! Who will win this harrowing match? How much more damage can Rob take (Hint:59)? Does Hawlucha have any qualms about beating up what amount to teenagers and children? Find out next time on Birkal faces Canis Majoris!
