[Overview]
Gastrodon is a premier counter to one of the strongest Ubers Pokemon in Kyogre because it's immune to Kyogre's STAB attacks and Thunder. Unlike Eternatus, Gastrodon is less likely to lose to Kyogre through status and can always beat Kyogre's Choice Specs set. It can also switch into Dracovish spamming Fishious Rend, safely switch into defensive Necrozma-DM not running Knock Off, and counter special Palkia and Dialga that are not running Choice Specs. However, Gastrodon is a more passive switch-in to Kyogre compared to other options like Eternatus and Ferrothorn and lets it freely use Rest; unlike Gastrodon, other special walls are able to switch in and shut down Kyogre by using it as an opportunity to heal, inflict status, or set entry hazards. Gastrodon is also susceptible to all entry hazards, especially Toxic Spikes, if not running Heavy-Duty Boots. When not facing Kyogre or Dracovish, Gastrodon is extremely underwhelming and offers little defensive value.

[SET COMMENTS]

Scald's burn chance can punish common switch-ins like Eternatus and Yveltal looking to heal or use Defog on Gastrodon, deter wallbreakers like Zekrom and Groudon from freely switching in, and better handle Kyogre in case Ice Beam freezes Gastrodon. Clear Smog is necessary to prevent Calm Mind Kyogre from boosting significantly and powering through Gastrodon. Earthquake hits Eternatus and Toxapex trying to heal or set up Toxic Spikes, and it also catches Zekrom and Dialga for respectable damage. Alternatively, Ice Beam prevents Zygarde-C from using Substitute and setting up on Gastrodon with Coil or Dragon Dance, while Icy Wind conveniently lowers the Speed of switch-ins, such as Calyrex-S and Xerneas to allow Gastrodon's partners to switch in more safely. A Sassy nature is preferred when running Earthquake, while Calm is preferred when Ice Beam or Icy Wind is chosen. Leftovers provides some much appreciated passive recovery, but Heavy-Duty Boots can help mitigate Gastrodon's weakness to Spikes and Toxic Spikes.

Gastrodon covering Kyogre and Dracovish frees up Eternatus to run offensive sets. Gastrodon being a Kyogre counter and general switch-in to Water- and Electric-type moves is great for Ho-Oh, which often loses momentum to Kyogre switching into Defog or a weakened Sacred Fire. In return, Ho-Oh is a switch-in for Grass types like Ferrothorn, Zarude, and Tangrowth. Other partners like Ferrothorn and Skarmory can set Spikes to pressure threats to Gastrodon and force Yveltal to use Defog, which drains the opponent's momentum.

Other Options
====

Toxic provides some decent residual damage against most foes, but Gastrodon is hard pressed to find space for it. Confide is an option over Clear Smog for Calm Mind Kyogre and Geomancy Xerneas running Substitute, but it is otherwise completely outclassed.

Checks and Counters
====

**Grass-types**: Even with Ice-type coverage, Gastrodon can't reliably check Ferrothorn, Zarude, and Tangrowth. Ferrothorn is especially an issue, as it comfortably takes all of Gastrodon's attacks and gets a free chance to use Knock Off or set Spikes. It can also take Gastrodon out with its Grass-type STAB move and recover any small amount of damage it takes with Leech Seed.

**Special Walls**: Blissey, Ho-Oh, and Eternatus can repeatedly sponge any of Gastrodon's attacks and threaten it with Toxic. Blissey and Eternatus can also use Gastrodon to set Stealth Rock and Toxic Spikes, respectively, as well.

**Xerneas**: Defensive Xerneas can use Gastrodon as an opportunity to provide cleric support, while Geomancy Xerneas can threaten it with a boosted Moonblast.

**Physical Wallbreakers**: Swords Dance Groudon, Choice Band Marshadow, and Choice Band Urshifu-S all force Gastrodon out with their powerful attacks. None of them want to switch into Scald, however.

Generally, and I'm not sure how you would fix this, the analysis is too positive about Gastrodon.

Dont mention Eleki in the overview, its not relevant at all. Dracovish is a valuable immunity, eleki sucks. Does Bulk Up Palkia even lose to Gastrodon? I feel like it would use it as setup fodder. Tempted to remove the point entirely about both Sinnoh mons, but you can leave it in if you feel like its relevant.

Instead of Scald Burn affecting Zygarde, I would mention Groudon, given a random Zygarde is more likely to be running rest. I feel I'd also reorder the moveslot slashes to have ice coverage before EQ, Zekrom and STAB on Etern isnt as important as preventing Zygarde setup.

In the teammates section I would mention that Gastrodon can free Eternatus up to use more offensively inclined sets, with Kyogre being taken care of by it. In light of making the analysis itself more negative, you could point out that Gastrodon is a waste of a teamslot in the event Kyogre/Vish dont come, so the defensive roles of the rest of the team are very constrained.

I'd expand the C&C stuff to include Xerneas, defensive sets sit on it and do not give a shit. I feel like reading this overhypes Gastrodon, I'd honestly rather seperate out all of the Specially Defensive mons into their own sections just to emphasise how easy it is to deal with.

QC 1/2.

" Gastrodon is a premier counter to one of the strongest Ubers threats in Kyogre being by immune to both its STAB moves, thanks to Storm Drain, and Thunder. "
- please fix the phrasing. I get that you are saying it is immune to both Water STAB and Thunder but it is confusing right now.

I think apart the need to downplay Gastrodon's capabilities outside of checking ogre, I would emphasize its niche benefits over Eternatus/Blissey/Ferrothorn as strictly a Kyogre answer.
"Unlike the common Kyogre switch-in of Eternatus, Gastrodon is less prone to losing against Kyogre through status."
-I would change this a bit to clarify it. You can instead mention any of this:

Gastrodon is immune to Thunder Wave/Thunder, cannot be burned by Scald, and is not 2HKO by even Modest Specs Ice Beam unlike Eternatus. In comparison to Blissey, Gastrodon can run Leftovers/HDB, so it is less vulnerable to hazards + doubling attempts (or tspikes if running HDB) in situations vs Specs Kyogre. It also does can deal with SubCM Thunder Wave sets, assuming the Kyogre is only running max HP. Ferro is 2HKO by specs Water Spout.

Of course, apart from vs Kyogre, all of these mons offer more utility, e.g. could mention how Bliss can provide rocks/cleric/check other special attackers, Ferro has spikes + leech, Etern is a great Knock absorber etc. And since it is so weak/passive and is often forced to Recover, Kyogre and its teammates can easily end up PP stalling it even if you get a Kyogre matchup.

" counters defensive Necrozma-DM"
-just say it can switch into it, and add a bit about how it needs to scout/be careful of a potential knock (and toxic)

"With that being said, Gastrodon is a more passive switch-in to Kyogre compared to other options, meaning Kyogre can use Rest freely, while special walls often switch in and shut it down to heal, inflict status, or set up entry hazards in front of it."
-I would add something about the greater utility of its competitors here.

"Gastrodon is also susceptible to all entry hazards, with Toxic Spikes in particular being detrimental."
- I would add Heavy-Duty Boots as a slash. You can't necessarily fit offensive Etern with it, and boots helps to set it apart from Blissey as a Specs Ogre switch in. It also helps make the Ferro match up less sad for it.

"Ice Beam allows greater damage on Eternatus and Yveltal, "
- Ice Beam does less to Etern than Earthquake and only does marginally more than Scald vs Yveltal. I would delete this. Also I think you should mention that Ice Beam makes it harder to deal with Kyogre 1v1 and increases the chance of being PP stalled.

"Ho-Oh is a switch-in for threatening Grass types like Zarude, Tangrowth, and Ferrothorn, and it often absorbs status like Toxic for Gastrodon. Other strong partners include Ferrothorn and Skarmory, which use Spikes to defensively pressure what Gastrodon is threatened by, and Yveltal, which commonly loses momentum when using Defog like Ho-Oh. Gastrodon covering Kyogre and Dracovish frees up Eternatus to run offensive sets."

would reorder the grass types to Ferrothorn, Zarude, Tangrowth and remove threatening. Ho-Oh doesn't particularly want to eat a Toxic, so I would remove that and add rest Kyogre if you want to mention a status absorber or defensive Xerneas. I would also change strong to potential and remove the Skarm mention. I would push up the Offensive Eternatus mention and remove the Yveltal mention.

"Other Options."
- Could mention Magic Coat to let it one time softcheck offensive Etern and potentially remove Kyogre faster. As mentioned before, I think HDB should be slashed.

"Grass-types."
reorder again. change it to grass coverage for Ferro because it can run Bullet Seed.

Other partners like Ferrothorn and Skarmory can set Spikes to pressure threats to Gastrodon and force Yveltal to use Defog, which drains momentum from the opponent the opponent's momentum (was a little awkwardly phrased before).

Other Options

Toxic provides some decent residual damage against most foes, but Gastrodon is hard pressed to find space for it. Confide is an option over Clear Smog for Calm Mind Kyogre and Geomancy Xerneas running Substitute, but it is otherwise completely outclassed.

Checks and Counters
====

**Grass-types**: Even with Ice-type coverage, Gastrodon is not reliable at removing can't reliably check Ferrothorn, Zarude, and Tangrowth. Ferrothorn is especially an issue, as it comfortably takes all of Gastrodon's attacks and gets a free chance to use Knock Off or set Spikes. It can also take Gastrodon out with its Grass-type STAB move (this is fine to keep if Ferro runs more than one Grass move, but the current Ubers set just has Bullet Seed, so say the move instead if it is just Bullet Seed and not (I assume) Power Whip) and recover any small amount of damage it takes with Leech Seed.
