Bankrupt~! (OU warstory, etc.)

Yo smogon.

Back with a brand new warstory. Only cause I love you all. My opponent and I had a pretty fun game and we talked about it at the end and he said warstory it, so here. He didn't want to comment cause he said he didn't know what to say although he gave me his thoughts about the game and I'll try put them in where possible. lol. Title was cause listening to pheonix album while laddering. Anywaaays. Enjoy;

opog's team: Jirachi / Thundurus-Therian / Empoleon / Azelf / Landorus / Keldeo-Resolute

YOUDIE's team: Tyranitar / Skarmory / Heatran / Jellicent / Landorus-Therian / Latias

So I see his team and it looks freaking bulky. But I pack 4 setup sweepers-> All special for life! so hopefully they can create an opening. Really it looks like I can get an rp Lando sweep if latias goes down or a subpeteya Empoleon (still awesome btw) sweep if Jellicent goes down.

With the lead matchup, my lead azelf looks pretty obvious but his ttar craps all over azelf. Thus at the time I thought he would go with skarmory or heatran predicting a not azelf lead (jirachi maybe). And I thought if either of those was his stealth rocker I could get a quick taunt off with azelf and end up with rocks off my field and rocks down on his.

Battle between opog and YOUDIE started!
Go! Azelf!
YOUDIE sent out Tyranitar!
The foe's Tyranitar's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!

(100%) vs.
(100%)

Turn 1 (6 - 6)
opog: durp

Yeah I don't know what I was thinking; ttar is probably always going in there. But at least I get some info; it probably means his ttar was ok with a jirachi lead (i.e. has fire blast or eq) and is probably his sr setter not scarfed and his heatran is a defensive set without stealth rock. When I chose azelf I also felt like a matchup with ttar wouldn't be too bad cause half his team walls azelf and I'm almost guarenteed rocks this way.

Anyway. Onto the moves; To taunt or not? Really me taunting and him ohko'ing would be the least desirable result, but if he sr's on the taunt that's amazing. Hrmm, Stealth rock is definitely the safe play, especially as he doesn't have a spinner. I wanna get rocks up to weaken jellicent and lati and if he sets up rocks that's ok; my team isn't too fussed about sr (outside of thundurus (sub-nasty plot), but he switches in like once a game). So we go with the rocks.

Azelf used Stealth Rock!
Pointed stones float in the air around the foe's team!
The foe's Tyranitar used Stealth Rock!
Pointed stones float in the air around your team!
The sandstorm rages.
Azelf is buffeted by the sandstorm!

Kinda the expected result. I'm just gonna fire off a fire blast here and sac azelf to get someone in. I mean I don't really want anyone switching into a crunch (except maybe empoleon but he's laate game). Psychic/Fire is terrible coverage lol.

Turn 2

Azelf used Fire Blast!
It's not very effective... The foe's Tyranitar lost 8% of its health!
The foe's Tyranitar was burned!
The foe's Tyranitar used Crunch!
It's super effective! Azelf lost 50.2% of its health!
The sandstorm rages.
Azelf is buffeted by the sandstorm!
The foe's Tyranitar restored HP using its Leftovers!
The foe's Tyranitar was hurt by its burn!

YOUDIE: lol
opog: ahh sorry about that = (
YOUDIE: dw

(85%, burned) vs.
(38%)

Ahh that's pretty bad hax. Good for me though = S. Tyrantiar is pretty maimed now. I taunt just in case he switches in heatran, cause fire blast is doing nothing anyway.

Turn 3

Azelf used Taunt!
The foe's Tyranitar fell for the taunt!
The foe's Tyranitar used Crunch!
It's super effective! Azelf lost 37.5% of its health!
Azelf fainted! (6 - 5) youdie up
The sandstorm rages.
The foe's Tyranitar restored HP using its Leftovers!
The foe's Tyranitar was hurt by its burn!

Azelf goes down. Poor little guy got the rocks up. Ok so I kinda think about this for a while. And wonder what can come in on ttar and even considering he was ok with the lead matchup I thought he'd probably switch out if I sent jirachi, because I'm potentially threatening iron head, or I'm specially defensive to take his fire blast.

Go! Jirachi!
Pointed stones dug into Jirachi!

(79%, burned, taunted, unfortunate guy in general) vs.
(0%, dead a little bit) --->
(94%)

Time to set up a sub on the switch and see his rachi check!

Turn 4

YOUDIE withdrew Tyranitar!
YOUDIE sent out Skarmory!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Skarmory!
Jirachi used Substitute!
Jirachi put in a substitute!
Jirachi lost 25% of its health!
The sandstorm rages.
Jirachi restored HP using its Leftovers!
The foe's Skarmory restored HP using its Leftovers!

(94%, say hello) vs.
(74%, behind a sub)

Hrmm didn't expect skarmory. Okay so he knows the calm mind is coming. Maybe. Actaully Thunderbolting here seems like an ok play. I'm not ohko'ing any variants at +1. And it's definitely the better play if he goes for the whirlwind, which he'll probably do. T-bolt!

Turn 5

Jirachi used Thunderbolt!
It's super effective! The foe's Skarmory lost 63% of its health!
The foe's Skarmory is paralyzed! It may be unable to move!
The foe's Skarmory used Whirlwind!
Landorus was dragged out!
Pointed stones dug into Landorus!
The sandstorm rages.
The foe's Skarmory restored HP using its Leftovers!

(37%, Paralyzed) vs.
(74%, whirlwinded) --->
(88%)

~~~~~~This paralyze doesn't change anything don't worry!!!!~~~~~~
But yeah skarmory is pretty crushed which is nice, not that he can really survive an all special team. Anyway I want to switch again because I don't like lando being in so early, and if I kill the skarmory latias comes in and messes up my cutlery; I don't want to give him a free turn. So we go to keldeo hoping he doesn't whirlwind again, keldeo matches up well against virtually all of his team (except jellicent but he doesn't know that), doesn't get set up on and may hopefully force some more switches so yeah.
Turn 6
Landorus, come back!
Go! Keldeo-Resolute!
Pointed stones dug into Keldeo-Resolute!
YOUDIE withdrew Skarmory!
YOUDIE sent out Tyranitar!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Tyranitar!
The sandstorm rages.
Keldeo-Resolute is buffeted by the sandstorm!
The foe's Tyranitar restored HP using its Leftovers!
The foe's Tyranitar was hurt by its burn!
(61%, Burned) vs.
(88%, pony)
Ttar seemed like another odd switch seeing as he can't do crap to lando. Maybe he wanted to sac him. With that in mind I go for the hp bug, seeing as it will screw ttar and hopefully anyone who wants to switch into a secret sword; looking at you latias~! I run ebelt because bluffing a choice scarf is great and stuff.
Turn 7
YOUDIE withdrew Tyranitar!
YOUDIE sent out Latias!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Latias!
Keldeo-Resolute used Hidden Power!
It's super effective! The foe's Latias lost 45% of its health!
The sandstorm rages.
The foe's Latias is buffeted by the sandstorm!
Keldeo-Resolute is buffeted by the sandstorm!
The foe's Latias restored HP using its Leftovers!
(43%) vs.
(82%)
That's a pretty cool result for me. He's probably weak enough that Lando can power through. But the priority is killing the thing so I go for... icy wind. I don't really know why. This was probably the biggest misplay that I had a lot of control over in the game that I made; either I should have gone for the icy wind last turn or hp buggeddd again this turn. Anyway I go for the icy wind because it ko's and I like lowering speed and being an idiot, etc.
Turn 8
YOUDIE withdrew Latias!
YOUDIE sent out Heatran!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Heatran!
Keldeo-Resolute used Icy Wind!
It's not very effective... The foe's Heatran lost 5% of its health!
The foe's Heatran's Speed fell!
The sandstorm rages.
Keldeo-Resolute is buffeted by the sandstorm!
(83%, -1 Spd) vs.
(76%)
So that's pretty lame. And lamer is that here I kinda forget that I revealed I have no choice scarf. But no leftovers/no balloon means it's probably an offensive heatran. Anyway I wanna hit up the safe play and Hydro Pump.
Turn 9
YOUDIE withdrew Heatran!
YOUDIE sent out Jellicent!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Jellicent!
Keldeo-Resolute used Hydro Pump!
The foe's Jellicent restored HP using its Water Absorb!
The sandstorm rages.
Keldeo-Resolute is buffeted by the sandstorm!
The foe's Jellicent is buffeted by the sandstorm!
The foe's Jellicent restored HP using its Leftovers!
(100%) vs.
(70%)
Yeah good switch by my opponent here, albeit obvious. So I've kinda lost a lot of my earlygame momentum with those last few keldeo moves. I decide to go to jirachi cause it can set up all in Jellicent's face not minding any attack, toxic (at all) and will-o-wisp (too much) from it.
Turn 10
opog: ahh nice lol
Keldeo-Resolute, come back!
Go! Jirachi!
Pointed stones dug into Jirachi!
The foe's Jellicent used Shadow Ball!
Jirachi lost 19.6% of its health!
Jirachi's Special Defense fell!
The sandstorm rages.
The foe's Jellicent is buffeted by the sandstorm!
Jirachi restored HP using its Leftovers!
The foe's Jellicent restored HP using its Leftovers!
(100%) vs.
(56%, -1 SpD)
The SpD drop is not too much of a biggy, except it means I can't sub first. I just go for the calm mind because I set up all over this ><>
Turn 11
Jirachi used Calm Mind!
Jirachi's Special Attack rose!
Jirachi's Special Defense rose!
The foe's Jellicent used Taunt!
Jirachi fell for the taunt!
The sandstorm rages.
The foe's Jellicent is buffeted by the sandstorm!
Jirachi restored HP using its Leftovers!
The foe's Jellicent restored HP using its Leftovers!
His set is probably recover/taunt/shadow ball/scald. So I absolutely wall him. But the taunt is pretty annoying. At this stage I think he may switch out from the t-bolt because I would kill him before he killed me [My other move is psyshock by the way]. But weakening Jellicent for a empoleon sweep is too good to pass up on.
Turn 12
YOUDIE withdrew Jellicent!
YOUDIE sent out Landorus-Therian!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Landorus-Therian!
The foe's Landorus-Therian intimidates Jirachi!
Jirachi's Attack fell!
Jirachi used Thunderbolt!
It doesn't affect the foe's Landorus-Therian...
The sandstorm rages.
Jirachi restored HP using its Leftovers!
(88%) vs.
(68%, +1 SpA, -1 Atk, Taunted)
Good switch good switch by youdie. Pretty much this turn I insta-clicked Thundurus-T predicting the earthquake so I could get a sub-up.
Turn 13
opog: nice nice
Jirachi, come back!
Go! Thundurus-Therian!
Pointed stones dug into Thundurus-Therian!
The foe's Landorus-Therian used U-turn!
It's not very effective... Thundurus-Therian lost 15.1% of its health!
Thundurus-Therian restored HP using its Leftovers!
The foe's Tyranitar restored HP using its Leftovers!
The foe's Tyranitar was hurt by its burn!
(42%, Burned) vs.
(61%)
So I do the calcs and tbolt doesn't always ko (even when factoring burn) soo I go for the sub so that either he doesn't break it and I can get a nasty plot up or t-bolt will kill next turn and I take less damage overall.
Turn 14
Thundurus-Therian used Substitute!
Thundurus-Therian put in a substitute!
Thundurus-Therian lost 24.7% of its health!
The foe's Tyranitar used Fire Blast!
Thundurus-Therian avoided the attack!
Thundurus-Therian is buffeted by the sandstorm!
Thundurus-Therian restored HP using its Leftovers!
The foe's Tyranitar restored HP using its Leftovers!
The foe's Tyranitar was hurt by its burn!
Ok that's pretty fortunate. This is probably another misplay on my part because I realised having a sub up was probably more valuable; shoulda gone for the kill but instead nasty plot.
Turn 15
Thundurus-Therian used Nasty Plot!
Thundurus-Therian's Special Attack sharply rose!
The foe's Tyranitar used Fire Blast!
Thundurus-Therian's substitute faded!
Thundurus-Therian's substitute faded!
Thundurus-Therian is buffeted by the sandstorm!
Thundurus-Therian restored HP using its Leftovers!
The foe's Tyranitar restored HP using its Leftovers!
The foe's Tyranitar was hurt by its burn!
(24%, Burned) vs.
(11%, +2 SpA)
Just as an aside you may be wondering why youdie didn't just surf straight away there [on my first sub]. But pretty much he saw that fire blast had an ok chance to ko (after sand damage) [which surf did not have] and a +2 spd thundurus-T would have torn(adus???) through his team at that point.
Subtle jokes are underrated.
Anyway subbing again hoping for a fire blast miss was greedy, but I figured Latias was revenging me no matter what at that stage so coming out with a sub there would be sweet and I would be able to take out another one of his guys from there. But now I have to go for the kill.
Turn 17
opog: oh lol
opog: surf
opog: that's interesting
The foe's Landorus-Therian intimidates Thundurus-Therian!
Thundurus-Therian's Attack fell!
(0%, bye) --->
(75%, hi scarf) vs.
(11%, +2 SpA, -1 Atk)
Well that thing is scarfed lol, which I just realise [didn't pick up on the no leftovers AND outspeeding jirachi earlier]. So I figure that I can set up on any attack he uses,will gain momentum if I die to u-turn and I'm not switching thundurus-T back in again so sacrificing him is definitely the play.
Turn 18
opog: that's legit
The foe's Landorus-Therian used U-turn!
It's not very effective... Thundurus-Therian lost 10.7% of its health!
Thundurus-Therian fainted! (5 - 4) youdie back up
The foe's Landorus-Therian went back to YOUDIE!
YOUDIE sent out Skarmory!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Skarmory!
Bye thundurus : ( So I go to keldeo because I don't wanna try any Jirachi shennanigans against skarmory (i.e. I sub predicting the switch to lando-t and he whirlwinds or I t-bolt and he goes to lando-t). My mini plan (instead of Jirachi trying to set up on skarmory) is to try get Jirachi in on Jellicent (because in that scenario I am guarenteed a sub+) which he'll probably switch in to take whatever keldeo is doing.
The sandstorm rages.
The foe's Skarmory restored HP using its Leftovers!
Go! Keldeo-Resolute!
Pointed stones dug into Keldeo-Resolute!
Turn 19
Keldeo-Resolute, come back!
Go! Jirachi!
The foe's Skarmory used Drill Peck!
It's not very effective... Jirachi lost 8.2% of its health!
The sandstorm rages.
Jirachi restored HP using its Leftovers!
The foe's Skarmory restored HP using its Leftovers!
(37%, Paralyzed) vs.
(60%)
Hrmm. Apparently he was predicting the hp bug again, and if he was right drill peck would have been the pits. But now I have to deal with the mindgame. It looks like he wants to sacrifice skarmory and subbing on the whirlwind would suck, so I go for the t-bolt.
Turn 20
YOUDIE withdrew Skarmory!
YOUDIE sent out Landorus-Therian!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Landorus-Therian!
The foe's Landorus-Therian intimidates Jirachi!
Jirachi's Attack fell!
Jirachi used Thunderbolt!
It doesn't affect the foe's Landorus-Therian...
The sandstorm rages.
Jirachi restored HP using its Leftovers!
(63%) vs.
(66%, -1 Atk, Mad)
Durp. Not this crap again. Ok the next thing. This is the mindgaming within the game. Is he going to u-turn again? Or go for the earthquake? If he u-turns and I sub/CM he will be losing at least one pokemon. But if he earthquakes then bye bye rachi. I take a couple minutesto make this decision and I really think he will try to do what he didn't do last time, predicting me to stay in on a predicted u-turn. So I go to landorus to fly over the hit because nothing else on my team wants an earthquake in their face.
Turn 21
opog: bah nice
Jirachi, come back!
Go! Landorus!
Pointed stones dug into Landorus!
The foe's Landorus-Therian used Earthquake!
It doesn't affect Landorus...
The sandstorm rages.
(63%, Locked into Earthquake js) vs.
(76%)
Yesssss. So glad that mindgame ended with a free turn for me. I'm in a really nice position here.
Ok so I could go for a rock polish here and potentially finish as latias is >50%. But if Jellicent switches in as I rock polish, or after a kill, that would mean that my sweep is stopped cold. So I need to get jellicent down to >50% for a lando rampage to happen. My plan here is to earth power as jellicent or heatran predicting an hp ice switches in taking a lot off of him or absolutely demolishing heatran. Then depending on the damage roll I can earth power again for the finish or switch to Jirachi on the recover and set up.
Turn 22
YOUDIE withdrew Landorus-Therian!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Skarmory!
Landorus used Earth Power!
(31%, Paralyzed) vs.
Wow that's annoying. Not cool. Looks like he wants to sac it again = S So I go for the focus blast. I briefly consider hp ice because a latias switch in now would be ideal for him, but focus blast will hit it hard enough so it can't switch in again.
Turn 23
YOUDIE withdrew Skarmory!
YOUDIE sent out Jellicent!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Jellicent!
Landorus used Focus Blast!
It doesn't affect the foe's Jellicent...
The sandstorm rages.
The foe's Jellicent is buffeted by the sandstorm!
The foe's Jellicent restored HP using its Leftovers!
(88%) vs.
(76%)
Not what I wanted to happen. At all. I probably could have gone to jirachi instead of attacking. Or even earth power again but I got played. I don't know why I didn't think the Jellicent switch in was likely. Anywhoo I go to empoleon for the first time now because I doubt he is switching with the opportunity to get landorus. Also I wall him good and because I'm hoping he'll stay in for a few turns, so I can weaken him or get jirachi in on him for the ultimate goal of a lando sweeeeep. Woo
The next like ten turns are not so exciting. They will be in smaller font for fun!
Turn 24
opog: bah nice
Landorus, come back!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Jellicent!
A crit that makes no difference :)
I don't know why he switched it in. He sounded like he doesn't know subpeteya so he thought I was sub three attacks and that I was gonna go for a grass knot there. I guess it was a pretty bad play on his part but skarmory really had no impact on the game.
Turn 28
Ok so I didn't realise my ice beam was that weak and this is kinda not fun. Like I said there is nothing on his team that is switching into empoleon with a sub up though. So my plan, because jirachi would be at like 40% if it took a hit coming in, is to switch jirachi in the next time I predict he will recover.
Oh yeah. I don't see why he didn't taunt me in the first place = S Or if not the first turn (going for a scald burn maybe?) then the second. Maybe we both forgot about it haha.
But I have a choice. T-bolt or psyshock? The possibility of Lando-T switching in, in an attempt to u-turn and break the sub is pretty possible, so I go for the psyshock.
Turn 37
Jirachi used Psyshock!
The foe's Jellicent lost 36% of its health!
The foe's Jellicent used Shadow Ball!
The substitute took damage for Jirachi!
The sandstorm rages.
The foe's Jellicent is buffeted by the sandstorm!
Jirachi restored HP using its Leftovers!
The foe's Jellicent restored HP using its Leftovers!
Hrmmm. Here I probably shoulda t-bolted but I psyshock again still not wanting the lando-t switch in which is probably unlikely.
Turn 38
Jirachi used Psyshock!
The foe's Jellicent lost 40% of its health!
The foe's Jellicent used Shadow Ball!
Jirachi's substitute faded!
The sandstorm rages.
The foe's Jellicent is buffeted by the sandstorm!
Jirachi restored HP using its Leftovers!
The foe's Jellicent restored HP using its Leftovers!
I don't have a sub but jellicent is decimated. Landorus sweep looks set to happen!
Turn 39
Jirachi used Psyshock!
The foe's Jellicent lost 24% of its health!
The foe's Jellicent fainted! (3 - 4) Gronkasaurus Rex up
The sandstorm rages.
Jirachi restored HP using its Leftovers!
Jirachi's taunt wore off!
YOUDIE sent out Landorus-Therian!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Landorus-Therian!
The foe's Landorus-Therian intimidates Jirachi!
Jirachi's Attack fell!
(0%, no more pringles) --->
(50%) vs.
(53%, +1 SpA, +1 SpD, -1 Atk)
Ok so let's play this game again. Earthquake definitely kills. But if he u-turns I'd still have enough to get up a sub! 101 SUBS BABY (shoutout to bidoof apprentice, funny and berrdawgs; they are some pretty cool dudes).
Turn 40
The foe's Landorus-Therian used U-turn!
Jirachi lost 19.3% of its health!
The foe's Landorus-Therian went back to YOUDIE!
YOUDIE sent out Heatran!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Heatran!
Jirachi used Substitute!
Jirachi put in a substitute!
Jirachi lost 25% of its health!
The sandstorm rages.
Jirachi restored HP using its Leftovers!
(71%) vs.
(15%, Behind a sub, +1 SpA, +1 SpD, -1 Atk, popular)
In hindsight, he HAS to u-turn in that situation because if he earthquakes, I die send in lando, I rock polish with lando and take the win as nothing will survive. So yeah good play by youdie there. Probably was trying to bait the lando switch but the offer of a sub was waaay to lucrative lol and there was no other move for me really [maybe tbolt or calm mind but I dunno].
Anyway there is no way a calm mind makes a difference in this scenario so I just tbolt to get damage on heatran and probably will sacrifice rachi to get a free switch in for keldeo.
Turn 41
opog: yes
opog: lol
opog: oh no
The foe's Heatran used Flamethrower!
It's super effective! Jirachi's substitute faded!
Jirachi used Thunderbolt!
The foe's Heatran lost 32% of its health!
The sandstorm rages.
Jirachi restored HP using its Leftovers!
His heatran is scarfed. Oh dear. It outspeeds all my crap. It messes up my pots and pans. But it is choiced, so I don't think it can kill eeeeverything at once. Anyway I sacrifice Jirachi because everything he has left outspeeds and can ko. He has done heaps for me this game and was always I threat :)
Turn 42
opog: speecs!
opog: scaaarf!
The foe's Heatran used Flamethrower!
It's super effective! Jirachi lost 21.0% of its health!
Jirachi fainted! (3 - 3) Tied at three all!
The sandstorm rages.
Go! Keldeo-Resolute!
Pointed stones dug into Keldeo-Resolute!
(39%, locked into flamethrower a little bit) vs.
(0%) --->
(57%)
Get the free keldeo switch in! At the expense of poor fainted pokemon = S. He's not staying in so icy wind will ko either of his two switch in's. He's probably gonna predict the secret sword and stuff.
Turn 43
YOUDIE withdrew Heatran!
YOUDIE sent out Latias!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Latias!
Keldeo-Resolute used Icy Wind!
It's super effective! The foe's Latias lost 31% of its health!
The foe's Latias fainted! (2 - 3) Gronkasaurus Rex up
The sandstorm rages.
Keldeo-Resolute is buffeted by the sandstorm!
opog: intense
YOUDIE sent out Landorus-Therian!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Landorus-Therian!
The foe's Landorus-Therian intimidates Keldeo-Resolute!
Keldeo-Resolute's Attack fell!
(0% for life) --->
(38%) vs.
(51%, -1 Atk)
Hrmm as another aside you may be like, well if youdie stayed in he would have won the game there. But icy wind would have lowered his speed so that keldeo would have outsped on the next turn. SO YEAH, it's another one of those it looks like there is more than option but there really isn't.
Anyway latias gets creamed by the icy wind and so we have a choice to make.
And I thought about this for quite a while as well. This really decides the game.
And I thought staying in with keldeo was always the best option here. His set is; U-Turn/Earthquake/???/??? one of them almost definitely being stone edge and the other probably being hp ice/superpower.
~ If he u-turns; he has to go to heatran. My best option would be heatran dies as he switches to him from the keldeo and then he can't finish my last three guys with lando-t so I win!
~ If he earthquakes; best option is letting keldeo die to it and then landorus gets a rock polish on the switch and that's game.
~ If he does something else; At the time I thought about this option for like a second and was like, keldeo survives and heatran can't kill my three remaining guys.
So leaving keldeo in was always the right play there. Always! So I leave him and icy wind, which would ohko lando-t and lower heatran's speed so I could kill him on the next turn.
tl;dr -> keldeo staying in~!
Turn 44
The foe's Landorus-Therian used Stone Edge!
A critical hit! It's not very effective... Keldeo-Resolute lost 40.1% of its health!
Keldeo-Resolute used Icy Wind!
It's super effective! The foe's Landorus-Therian lost 38% of its health!
The foe's Landorus-Therian fainted! (1 - 3) Gronkasarus up [not for long]
The sandstorm rages.
Keldeo-Resolute is buffeted by the sandstorm!
YOUDIE: :(
YOUDIE: gg
YOUDIE sent out Heatran!
Pointed stones dug into the foe's Heatran!
(0%) --->
(27%, One) vs.
(5%, -1 Atk)
But this is where it really hits me as he feigns a gg. I just totally realise it haha. Kinda like that something that you know is a reality but you don't acknowledge it until you have to;
The whole game youdie was playing was to weaken my stuff enough for a scarftran sweep. That's why he didn't mind jellicent dying; because empoleon was weakened enough, because landorus had taken damage, and because jirachi was weakened enough for heatran to sweep up. So at this point I think he has the game, which is kinda sad I guess. Well played youdie. Denting without killing keldeo and saccing lando-t was the single best move youdie could have made there. Because heatran comes in for free and I have no chance of setting up an rp with lando. Then he proceeds to finish off my remaining guys as he outspeeds.
And then I realise that if he is running timid Lando might survive!
Turn 45
opog: what
opog: heat can still do it?
opog: scarf?
YOUDIE: yup :P
YOUDIE: that stone edge crit was very needed lol
opog: yeah you're good!
opog: = S
The foe's Heatran used Flamethrower!
It's not very effective... Keldeo-Resolute lost 4.3% of its health!
Keldeo-Resolute fainted! (1 - 2) Not for long
The sandstorm rages.
YOUDIE: lando might survive
YOUDIE: 394 attack STAB flamethrower quite powerful thou ;)
opog: modest or timid?
opog: lol
YOUDIE: modest
opog: ahh crud
Go! Empoleon!
Pointed stones dug into Empoleon!
(27%) vs.
(0%, fainted) --->
(26%, aqua jet one time?)
Nooo! Pony!
[Also also lol, the crit didn't really matter. I mean heatran had like a 95%+ chance to KO keldeo and that's not factoring in the time he rolls super low and gets a burn so yeah the crit makes little difference js in hindsight]
I'm crunching the calcs and just fodder empoleon for laughs and whatnot. He says modest and I kinda think it's over. Like 5% chance of survival. Sadlife and all
Turn 46
YOUDIE: aqua jet lol
The foe's Heatran used Flamethrower!
Empoleon lost 25.6% of its health!
Empoleon fainted! (1 - 1) Tied up. Cause it has to be!
The sandstorm rages.
opog: no
YOUDIE: ah lol
Go! Landorus!
Pointed stones dug into Landorus!
(27%, boom) vs.
(0%, got destroyed by pocket aces) -->
(63%)
So apparently this heatran thing; it's modest and when he switches in lando will be at 63%. Tiniest chance of surviving.
But then I remember. MY LANDO IS MODEST [not that the nature matters but the hp ev's do]; I screwed round with ev spread on landorus, and swapped to 148 HP / 252 SpA / 108 Spd Modest. And I don't wanna put it in the calc. And at that time I think it's probably a coin flip.
IT DEPENDS ON THE DAMAGE ROLL. I guess it's pretty fitting for a game like this.
So I wait for a few seconds and click earth power.
Turn 47
opog: it depends on damage roll!
The foe's Heatran used Flamethrower!
Landorus lost 59.0% of its health!
Landorus used Earth Power!
It's super effective! The foe's Heatran lost 27% of its health!
The foe's Heatran fainted!
opog won the battle!
(0%, literally) vs.
(4%, four)
Ladder updating...
<snip> (i mean you can check if you really want lol)
opog: wow gg
YOUDIE: wow
opog: that was a great battle
YOUDIE: dude that was epic
YOUDIE: have you done a war story before?
opog: i wouldn't mind warstorying that
opog: let's do one!
opog: lol
Phew....
We checked after on the calcs and I was the slight favourite to win. Heatran does about 57%-67.5% so yeah almost a coin flip.
But wow that was intense
Props;
+ Lando-T vs Jirachi matchup was great mindgaming
+ Every pokemon on my team (bar azelf) for getting at least a kill
+ Heatran for almost pulling off the sweep
+ running HP ev's on rp/agi sweepers
+ youdie for using some odd moves/sets on pretty standard pokemon
+ the crits for being insignificant
+ you for reading. lol
Slops;
- Skarmory for being almost as useless as fire/psychic coverage
- Latias for being more useless than that
- Azelf, as the only poke on my team to not get a kill
- youdie for the fake gg lol
Yeah so I hope you guys enjoyed that plenty. I guess you might not see the battle as intense as it was. Like we both made a couple misplays. But both youdie (Scarftran Cleanup) and I (RP Lando Sweep) had a plan early game and as we were entering endagame, that involved punching holes in the other's team so one guy could finish. And we tried to make that win condition happen throughout, and I hope (especially for youdie) you see how he/I tried to acheive it even when some of the moves look questionable. And it was amazing to see in the end it came down to both our win conditions on a near 50/50. So there it is; something that was a super fun super intense battle for us and we hope it was for you guys to read. Byee
That was a fun battle to read ! Your descriptions were informative. There was a misplay or two near the beginning, but the end game was a lot of fun to read. You really expressed the "Oh shit, it's scarf" well, and good analysis of your opponent's actions.
Literally a 50-50 game at the end there, since it's a guaranteed KO on 0/0 Lando I bet he was a bit surprised there lol.
252+ SpA Heatran Flamethrower vs. 148/0 Landorus: 204-241 (57.3 - 67.69%)
7.5/10, look forward to seeing more warstories from you also it was nice because this is the first warstory in ages
