Record Store Day tomorrow. Possible free Bradford Cox secret show at a record store near where I live. Whoops I guess it isn't a secret any longer.

It's that time again - 'idle talk' by iamamiwhoami

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2KxlzQMTpU

I love it (surprise!), it's so .. soothing, it's lovely. It's more in the same vein of 'Play' than 'In Due Order', which I'll admit didn't go down too well here.

Hopefully people will enjoy this one? :(

I think I'm gonna stop linking until the album comes out (11th June, I CANNOT WAIT.), but I think we'll get the remaining videos on the 8th May, 22nd May and 5th June if anyone's interested!

B.o.B dropped a new album a few days back. Called Strange Clouds. The singles he had were quite decent (Strange Clouds, So Good, Where Are You). There's a good song, feat. taylor swift. Both of Us - B.o.B:

Avenger - Bohemian Dark Metal

Metal album of the year so far. If you like black metal, give it a shot.

(note this song isn't my favorite song on the album, but it is literally the only one I could find on youtube)

Killer Mike's R.A.P. Music is my favorite hip hop album of the year so far. El-P produces the entire album, and his take on the mainstream southern hip hop sounds represents some of the only true innovation in the genre in recent memory.

Edited hip hop is almost a sin but the only version on youtube is the clean version, so you get what you get

EDIT: not sure I was enthusiastic enough in my first post, every song bangs except the opener which is still pretty solid. Get this.

You've all probably heard 'Somebody that I used to Know' about a thousand times by now, but what you might not know is that the female singer, Kimbra, has her debut album coming out in Europe and the US soon. She's my favourite pop artist in a very long time, and I love her new album to bits. It showcases an eclectic range of musical styles, but the one thing that remains constant is her fantastic vocal abilities. Anyway, just thought I'd share in case you're interested.

Her single, Settle Down (with a phenomenal chorus):

And if you want an example of how strong a vocalist she is, check out this live version of Plain Gold Ring:

EDIT: New Beach House is also pretty damn good, and that's coming from someone who's only a very casual listener of theirs.

Cool, music thread. :toast: There are so many good albums coming out this year!
These are some of the new tracks I've heard from some of the bands I listen to:

Local Texas band Nothing More released this earlier this year, it's called "Ballast," and I'm digging it a bit:

"Electric Sea," the title track from Buckethead's new album:

New Baroness track, "Take My Bones Away":

Rush's "Headlong Flight," from Clockwork Angels:

New Fear Factory track, "Recharger":

Mastodon's cover of Feist's "A Commotion":

"Gladiator," from Soulfly's new album Enslaved:

I'm also pumped to hear Serj Tankian's new album, Harakiri.

EDIT: And Kimbra's track, "Settle Down," is phenomenal. Killer Mike and Avenger were also pretty good. I'm glad to see that Smogon doesn't have a shitty taste in music.

Woah, mister! How can you talk about Kimbra and not mention Cameo Lover? Much better example than Plain Gold Ring, I think.

And of course it's the Sing Sing live version. The studio versions of each song are so much more lifeless.

She also worked with Miami Horror for "I Look To You."

Beautiful lady, beautiful voice.

Also, how do you people find your music? I'm always looking for new stuff, but rarely do I ever find anything I like on my own. Then I come to this thread and find mountains of good stuff. I believe there was a thread a little while back about "finding my music" or something of the sort where the user went through Youtube individually critiquing what he found. This doesn't seem like how most people would go about it, so... yeah. I'm open to any comments or advice.

Spotify, Pandora, grabbing random cd's I've never heard of, and general inquiries. Pandora is really good for finding new things to listen to actually, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking to hear new music.

not sure if i can put this here but where do you guys actually download your music from? other than buying i mean? i used to use mediafire and i try not to torrent that much, but it seems recently they're cracking down on mediafire much more :/

I chose Plain Gold Ring because it's a better showcase for her vocally, though I'd agree that Cameo Lover is a better song. Also, I tend to come down half and half in terms of studio versions vs. singsing ones; some of them are better live, but I also think some are better on her album.

Also, I use youtube and grooveshark to find new music. Youtube is great for dipping into things, whereas grooveshark is better for full albums (spotify works too but it has a 20 hour per month limit, I think, unless you're willing to shell out a little extra). Last.fm is also very good if you want recommendations similar to a particular artist/style/etc.
