Good day, everyone!
So, this is actually my first time to immerse myself in 1v1 Classic (remember, I had to take a good rest after all the tournaments I have participated throughout that year, so I had to skip this), and I just wanted to take a shot at DPP Cup and ADV Cup. Of course, you'd know my history in DPP Cup when
DEG pirated me into learning DPP 1v1 all by myself in 1v1 World Cup IV and
Dj Breloominati♬ who spent even a fraction of his time to help me build teams. In ADV Cup, I'd say, I'd
blame give
Quantum Tesseract the credit for making me play ADV 1v1 Duo Swiss; I had a greatly rocky start at first using his teams, and then I ended up trying to learn the metagame by myself and actually putting my own teams apart from his. Despite Quantum Tesseract carrying me most of the time to the playoffs of that Swiss Tour, we got eliminated quite early. However, with the knowledge I got mostly from battling those sorts of competitors, I ended up taking a shot at ADV 1v1 Cup; sadly, I got eliminated in Round 2.
In both of those tournaments I've gotten into, I didn't expect any result regardless of what I've done; what matters the most to me is that I make sure all the teams I've built are rock-solid and are capable of covering almost every significant threat in those metagames. With that kind of mindset (and a hint of luck, I would say, lol), I eventually got myself as the Champion of DPP 1v1 Cup, which is actually my very first win in my over-a-decade competitive Pokemon battling stint. Thing is, I'm not expecting myself to qualify in that entire Classic Playoffs because 1) apparently, winning one Cup doesn't guarantee me chances of getting into one given their new system, and 2) there's also USUM, ORAS, and BW - the one generation I dreaded the most. This is why I sought
Elo Bandit and
Potatochan for USUM/ORAS/ADV and BW prep respectively, and I can't thank them enough for the support these guys gave me. Looking forward to working with the both of you soon! (not to mention
Mubs for gracing me this position I've been lowkey vying for, lol!)
Despite my loss against
Jamez in one heck of a series - can't complain with some of those luck-induced elements into play - I would also like to thank most especially
superstrike66 as he is one of the greatest cheerleaders I have on my side since day one. I really can't thank you enough for being the most morally supportive amidst the abrasiveness of some of the members in the 1v1 Community; you surely made me keep going. Anyway, congratulations on your huge win, Jamez, and I am looking forward to battling you again sooner or later.
Hogg,
teal6,
Christo,
r0ady,
vivalospride,
LRXC, everyone: it's been quite a while since I last see you go as far as going into the Tournaments scene, but here I am, making it this far in different metagames. Hope our paths cross again sooner or later!
