Simisage [QC: 2/3]

[OVERVIEW]

Simisage's main appeal is its diverse movepool that provides it ample coverage. The combined power of Simisage's coverage allows it to hit almost everything in the tier for super effective damage. It makes Simisage capable in defeating Grass-type resists like Oricorio-G, Articuno, and Altaria. Simisage is a nuisance to switch into because of these reasons once it's able to get on the field, with a minimal amount of defensive checks that can firmly handle it. Unfortunately, while Simisage is fast, it's hugely susceptible to Pokemon that still outspeed it like Froslass and Dodrio, and Choice Scarf users like Skunktank, Primeape, and Abomasnow due to its lack of any bulk at all and exploitable typing. Because of how frail Simisage is especially with Life Orb racking up recoil damage, Simisage can’t risk openly switching in and relies on pivots in order for it to safely come in and deal damage. Simisage also faces competition with Abomasnow who’s a Mixed Attacker that offers utility with Hail and has access to priority. It also competes with Victreebel and Ludicolo, two Grass-types that offer superior defensive utility and longer longevity while hitting harder.

[SET]
name: Mixed Attacker
move 1: Leaf Storm
move 2: Superpower
move 3: Rock Slide
move 4: Gunk Shot / Knock Off
item: Life Orb
ability: Overgrow
nature: Naive
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Superpower is necessary in order to deal with common Grass-type resists like Alolan Sandslash and Ferroseed. Rock Slide handles Oricorio-G, Articuno, and Altaria who all otherwise wall Simisage. Gunk Shot is available so that Simisage can bypass Clefairy while being able to 2HKO Victreebel. Knock Off is an alternative as it can cripple Pokemon who rely on their Eviolite to check Simisage like Tangela, Metang, and Type: Null.

Set Details
========

A Naive nature is preferred so that Simisage doesn’t trade its Speed while still displaying its offensive presence. Overgrow powers up Simisage's Leaf Storm when it's taken enough damage and it pairs well with the constant chip that Life Orb burdens onto Simisage.

Usage Tips
========

It is suggested that Simisage should be sent into battle with pivots and aggressive doubles in order to maximize its paltry longevity. Simisage is most effective in the early-game since it lacks the longevity to last throughout the game. It's able to accumulate valuable chip to enable various sweepers, so try to get it in earlier so it can dish out chunks of damage on the opponent. Simisage cannot afford to misspredict and bear to take continuous Life Orb chip, so prediction is necessary to maximize Simisage's potential. However, immediately clicking Leaf Storm isn’t a bad strategy either as outside of some Life Orb chip, there is hardly any repercussions. Simisage can then follow up with one of its coverage moves if the opponent did bring in a Pokemon that resists Leaf Storm.

Team Options
========

Regirock and Metang provide Stealth Rock to chip down Dodrio in order to hinder its reliability against Simisage while also luring in Alolan Sandslash. Eelektross and Lanturn are useful pivots for Simisage that are slow enough to bring it in safely. Both make for fine Flying-type checks with the latter also handling various Fire-type to some succession. Primeape also is notable for luring in Mudsdale and Quagsire to open opportunities for Simisage to strike. Simisage is able to pressure many of Gurdurr's checks by battling them out with its coverage and therefore, allows Gurdurr to have an easier time setting up and punching holes in teams. Gurdurr also checks Kangaskhan and Skunktank who have the possibility in revenge killing Simisage. Alolan Sandslash, Jellicent, and Cryogonal deal with the majority of Ice-types in the tier that could threaten Simisage like Choice Scarf Aurorus, and Rotom-F. They also function as hazard removal for Simisage, therefore improving its longevity. Lycanroc greatly benefits from Simisage as it punishes Mudsdale and Regirock which are two of Lycanroc's most sturdy countermeasures. Lycanroc also offensively checks numerous Flying-types. Stoutland also pairs well with Simisage due to it incarcerating the aforementioned Pokemon. Froslass and Qwilfish both set up Spikes for Simisage to wear down the opponent's team even further. Froslass can also check Primeape while both can check other Fighting-types like Gurdurr and Hitmonchan that can threaten Simisage with Mach Punch.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Simisage can use Nasty Plot to become a devastating wallbreaker, but the other elemental monkeys, Simisear and Simipour, outperform Simisage as Nasty Plot users and sacrificing coverage for this set is not worth it in most cases. Simisage can utilize both a Choice Specs or Scarf to either be a Special wallbreaker or revenge killer but both of these sets are not only outclassed by Choice Scarf Abomasnow due to its better STABs, but because locking Simisage into a move severely restricts it from its strong coverage and makes it much more susceptible to revenge killing itself.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Faster Pokemon and Priority**: While Simisage sits at a pleasant spped tier, it still fails to outspeed Froslass and Dodrio and meets a swift end. Simisage is also outsped by multiple Choice Scarf users such as Skunktank, Primeape, and Abomasnow. Priority can also tamper with Simisage's effectiveness by painfully softening it up. Kangaskhan can possibly remove Simisage through Fake Out and Sucker Punch while Gurdurr and Hitmonchan chip away at it through Mach Punch.

**Grass-Types**: Victreebel and Bellossom have to watch out for Gunk Shot but they can leech away at Simisage's Attack with Strength Sap and take the rest of its attacks decently well. Tangela is also a sturdy defensive answer against Simisage but it could risk losing its Eviolite and then can end up being 2HKOed by Gunk Shot and Leaf Storm.

**Steel-types**: Metang, Bronzor, and Mawile are hard checks agaisnt Simisage being capable of handling it due to these specific Steel-types having a neutrality to Fighting-type moves. However, the former two despise Knock Off while the latter can take critical damage from Leaf Storm

Hi, please consider putting this back in WIP. Currently, the analysis is very lacking and doesn't really show the reader why you'd use Simisage, how you'd use it, and lastly team options and c&c are extremely lacking. If you have any questions feel free to contact me / any other QC member.

[OVERVIEW]
you have an extra space here between the name of the section and the bullet points every single time, and this should be fixed
  • Simisage presents itself as a fast offensive Grass-type in the tier. this is just not worth including due to how basic it is
  • Its main appeal is its diverse movepool that provides it ample coverage. The combined power of Simisage’s coverage allows it to hit almost everything in the tier for super effective damage.
  • All of these factors combined with its naturally high speed and colorful coverage makes Simisage a nuisance to switch into once it's able to get on the field, with a minimal amount of defensive checks that can firmly handle it.
  • Its mono Grass-typing lets it also be a decent offensive check against Mudsdale and defensive Water-types like Jellicent, Quagsire, and Lanturn. it's less an offensive check and more just an offensive thing that's good at breaking those mons
  • Unfortunately, while Simisage is fast, it's hugely susceptible Pokemon that still outspeed it like Froslass and Dodrio, and Choice Scarf users like Skunktank, Primeape, and Abomasnow.
  • Because of how frail Simisage is especially with Life Orb racking up recoil damage, Simisage can’t risk openly switching in and relies on pivots in order for it to safely come in and deal damage.
  • Simisage also faces competition with Abomasnow who’s a Mixed Attacker that offers utility with Hail and takes neutral damage against Ice-type attacks. u definitely need to mention other grasses here too, victreebel and ludicolo

Set Details
========

  • A Naive nature is preferred so that Simisage isn't worn down as much by the priority that plagues the metagame.
  • Overgrow powers up Simisage's Leaf Storm when it's taken enough damage.
Usage Tips
========

  • It is suggested that Simisage should be sent into battle with pivots and aggressive doubles in order to maximize its paltry longevity.
  • Simisage is most effective in the early-game since it lacks the longevity to last throughout the game. It's able to accumulate valuable chip to enable various wallbreakers so try to get it in earlier so it can dish out chunks of damage on the opponent.
  • Simisage does require a moderate amount of prediction due to the constant chip of Life Orb. Simisage's diverse movepool can assist you in this endeavor as you decide which Pokemon might possibly switch in and how you counteract.
  • However, immediately clicking Leaf Storm isn’t a bad strategy either as outside of some Life Orb chip, there is hardly any repercussions. Simisage can then follow up with one of its coverage moves if the opponent did bring in a Pokemon that resists Leaf Storm.
  • Be wary of priority as it further chips down Simisage and limits its opportunities to deal any monumental damage. Simisage should not be kept in when priority could easily hinder it. honestly this comes off as a bit too generic to be useful
Team Options
========

  • Regirock provides the ubiquitous Stealth Rock instead of calling it ubiquitous for some reason, u should say why rocks benefit simisage while checking Flying-types like Dodrio and Oricorio to aid Simisage.
  • Eelektross and Lanturn are strong pivots for Simisage that are slow enough to bring it in safely. Both make for fine Flying-type checks with the latter also handling various Fire-type to some succession.
  • Gurdurr and Metang make for fine checks against Kangaskhan and Primeape, two Pokemon that can remove Simisage with priority or outspeeding it respectively. Metang also provides Stealth Rock for Simisage to further offer chip damage. yeah this is kinda weird, "kangaskhan and primeape checks" is too specific to be somth u think about when building for sage. there are reasons u might want to pair these with sage (sage pressures most of gurdurr's checks and metang provides the same thing as regirock) but the current reasoning is just weird
  • Alolan Sandslash and Cryogonal deal with the majority of Ice-types in the tier that could threaten Simisage and keeps it from using up Superpower and dropping its Attack. They also function as hazard removal for Simisage, therefore improving its longevity.
  • Lycanroc greatly benefits from Simisage as it's this it's is meant to refer to simisage, but the writing makes it seem like ur saying lycanroc has a good matchup vs mudsdale a breaker with a strong matchup against teams involving Mudsdale or Regirock as their rocker. Lycanroc also offensively checks numerous Flying-types.
  • Alolan Raichu can use Simisage to offensively remove treacherous Ground-types that could stop it from sweeping while it also offensively checks Flying-types. this is very weak, I probably wouldn't double up on two fast frail breakers like this. sage isn't a great ground check and chu isnt a great flying check
  • Froslass and Qwilfish both set up Spikes for Simisage to wear down the opponent's team even further. Both can also check Primeape and other Fighting-types like Gurdurr and Hitmonchan that can threaten Simisage with Mach Punch.
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Simisage can use Nasty Plot to become a devastating wallbreaker that scares Regirock Balances, but the other elemental monkeys, Simisear and Simipour, outperform Simisage as Nasty Plot users.
  • Simisage can utilize both a Choice Specs or Scarf to either be a Special wallbreaker or revenge killer but these sets are outclassed by Froslass and Abomasnow respectively.
  • Gluttony paired with a pinch berry extends Simisage's longevity but the extra damage provided with a Lite Orb is preferred.
Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass-Types**: Victreebel and Bellossom have to watch out for Gunk Shot but they can leech away at Simisage's Attack with Strength Sap and take the rest of its attacks decently well.

**Faster Pokemon**: While Simisage is fast, it still fails to outspeed Froslass and Dodrio. It also can be revenge killed by various Choice Scarf users like Skunktank, Primeape, and Abomasnow. not wrong but i dont love the writing here, it's weirdly vague

**Defensive Walls this is also problematic because simisage is a wallbreaker and not all defensive walls check it (defensive walls includes things like mudsdale and regirock). I would mention tangela in the grass types section instead and change this section to steel-types since sage is checked by metang/scarf alolaslash/bronzor/mawile. very little is lost from not including type null (gets knocked and superpowered and pressured hard)**: Tangela, Type: Null, and Bronzor are all defensive walls capable of keeping Simisage at bay and crippling it, but they do need to watch out for the possible Knock Off that removes their Eviolites.

**Priority**: Simisage's frail defenses make it hugely susceptible to priority. Kangaskhan can easily wear down or remove Simisage with its combination of Fake Out and Sucker Punch, while Simisage takes massive damage from Gurdurr, Hitmonchan, and Abomasnow's respective priority.

[OVERVIEW]

  • Simisage's main appeal is its diverse movepool that provides it ample coverage. The combined power of Simisage's coverage allows it to hit almost everything in the tier for super effective damage. (and..? mention that it beats common grass-resists and special walls like sensu and cuno)
  • These factors combined with its naturally high speed and colorful coverage (u already mention this) makes Simisage a nuisance to switch into once it's able to get on the field, with a minimal amount of defensive checks that can firmly handle it.
  • Its mono Grass-typing lets it also be a decent offensive measure against Mudsdale and defensive Water-types like Jellicent, Quagsire, and Lanturn. (i mean, u cant switch into any of these in fear of a scald burn)

Simisage's diverse movepool can assist you in this endeavor as you decide which Pokemon might possibly switch in and how you counteract. (nah, usually it's better to just click leaf storm due to simisage's low bulk - which means you cant afford to misspredict - and high speed)
  • However, immediately clicking Leaf Storm isn’t a bad strategy either as outside of some Life Orb chip, there is hardly any repercussions. Simisage can then follow up with one of its coverage moves if the opponent did bring in a Pokemon that resists Leaf Storm. (i mean, yeah ig)

  • Regirock and Metang provide Stealth Rock to nail chip damage on Froslass and Abomasnow to hinder their reliability against Simisage while checking Flying-types like Dodrio and Oricorio to aid Simisage. (oricorios literally arent an issue. and neither lass or aboma can switch into simisage)

  • Simisage can use Nasty Plot to become a devastating wallbreaker that scares Regirock Balances, (you're being way too specific, which is only gonna confuse the reader. just say that it's a decent wallbreaker) but the other elemental monkeys, Simisear and Simipour, outperform Simisage as Nasty Plot users. (also it's not as a good wallbreaking set, rlly)
  • Simisage can utilize both a Choice Specs or Scarf to either be a Special wallbreaker or revenge killer but these sets are outclassed by Froslass and Abomasnow respectively. (no. specs is not outclassed by froslass whatsoever, the biggest reason to not use it is because you're not fully taking advantage of simisage's movepool) (and why is aboma better?)
  • Gluttony paired with a pinch berry extends Simisage's longevity but the extra damage provided with a Lite Orb is preferred. (and overgrow)
Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass-Types**: Victreebel and Bellossom have to watch out for Gunk Shot but they can leech away at Simisage's Attack with Strength Sap and take the rest of its attacks decently well. Tangela is also a very sturdy defensive answer against Simisage but it could risk losing its Eviolite. (leaf storm + gunk 2hkoes once u koff tangela's eviolite. anyway i don't understand why this is so high, none of these can even switch into simisage anyway)

**Faster Pokemon**: While Simisage sits at a pleasant spped tier, it still fails to outspeed Froslass and Dodrio and meets a swift end. Simisage is also outsped by multiple Choice Scarf users such as Skunktank, Primeape, and Abomasnow

**Steel-types**: Metang, Bronzor, and Mawile are stable hard checks agaisnt Simisage being capable of handling it comfortably well due to these specific Steel-types having a neutrality to Fighting-type moves. (the former two heavily dislike koff and mawile takes like 60% from leaf storm) Scarf Alolan Sandslash also outspeeds Simisage and removes it. (lol)

Simisage also faces competition with Abomasnow who’s a Mixed Attacker that offers utility with Hail and has access to priority. It also competes with Victreebel and Ludicolo, two Grass-types that offer superior defensive utility and longer longevity while hitting harder.

Moves
========

Superpower is necessary in order to deal with common Grass-type resists like Alolan Sandslash and Ferroseed. Rock Slide handles Oricorio-G, Articuno, and Altaria who all otherwise wall Simisage. Gunk Shot is available so that Simisage can bypass Clefairy (mention fairyvally) while being able to 2HKO Victreebel. Knock Off is an alternative as it can cripple Pokemon who rely on their Eviolite to check Simisage like Tangela, Metang, and Type: Null (this is a shaky check to simisage since superpower does a ton. mention clefairy since you're running this over gunk shot)

Set Details
========

A Naive nature is preferred so that Simisage doesn’t trade its Speed while still displaying its offensive presence. Overgrow powers up Simisage's Leaf Storm when it's taken enough damage and it pairs well with the constant chip that Life Orb burdens onto Simisage (weird wording, fix this).

Usage Tips
========

It is suggested that Simisage should be sent into battle with pivots and aggressive doubles in order to maximize its paltry longevity. Simisage is most effective in the early-game since it lacks the longevity to last throughout the game. It's able to accumulate valuable chip to enable various sweepers, so try to get it in earlier so it can dish out chunks of damage on the opponent (merge this with the sentence before this one since they share the ideas of using simisage early-game). Simisage cannot afford to misspredict and bear to take continuous Life Orb chip (not necessarily, like yeah it takes life orb chip but you're just gonna switch out anyway. I'd rather say it's necessary if pokemon that can immediately threaten simisage switch in on a specific move), so prediction is necessary to maximize Simisage's potential. However, immediately clicking Leaf Storm isn’t a bad strategy either as outside of some Life Orb chip, there is hardly any repercussions (same with knock off since it's a catch-all to its switchins by removing their item). Simisage can then follow up with one of its coverage moves if the opponent did bring in a Pokemon that resists Leaf Storm (this is quite vague. what pokemon? how do you know that whichever pokemon is vulnerable to simisage after switching into leaf storm? give this context).

Team Options
========

Regirock and Metang provide Stealth Rock to chip down Dodrio in order to hinder its reliability against Simisage while also luring in Alolan Sandslash (these arent good alolaslash lures at all, regirock smacks it with drain punch and metang wears it down quickly as well). Eelektross and Lanturn are useful pivots for Simisage that are slow enough to bring it in safely. Both make for fine Flying-type checks (which ones? you handle cuno and chipped oricorios just fine) with the latter also handling various Fire-type to some succession. Primeape also is notable for luring in Mudsdale and Quagsire to open opportunities for Simisage to strike (this section has a weird segue, start the mention of pivots with "pivots such as" so this is less confusing to read) Simisage is able to pressure many of Gurdurr's checks by battling them out with its coverage and therefore, allows Gurdurr to have an easier time setting up and punching holes in teams (Same here, mention Gurdurr at the beginning as Fighting-type partners since this is a weird way to introduce it). Gurdurr also checks Kangaskhan and Skunktank who have the possibility in revenge killing Simisage. Alolan Sandslash, Jellicent, and Cryogonal deal with the majority of Ice-types in the tier that could threaten Simisage like Choice Scarf Aurorus, and Rotom-F (Jellicent is an inconsistent check to both of these. Remove this since it also doesn't work with the next sentence). They also function as hazard removal for Simisage, therefore improving its longevity. Lycanroc greatly benefits from Simisage as it punishes Mudsdale and Regirock which are two of Lycanroc's most sturdy countermeasures. Lycanroc also offensively checks numerous Flying-types (again, which? simisage is perfectly adept at beating a handful of them in the right situation). Stoutland also pairs well with Simisage due to it incarcerating (dont use this word please lol) the aforementioned Pokemon. Froslass and Qwilfish both set up Spikes for Simisage to wear down the opponent's team even further. Froslass can also check Primeape while both can check other Fighting-types like Gurdurr and Hitmonchan that can threaten Simisage with Mach Punch (move this to the beginning since it also talks about entry hazard setters).

Other Options
=============

Simisage can use Nasty Plot to become a devastating wallbreaker, but the other elemental monkeys, Simisear and Simipour, outperform Simisage as Nasty Plot users and sacrificing coverage for this set is not worth it in most cases (just make this about simisear).

===================

**Faster Pokemon and Priority**: While Simisage sits at a pleasant spped tier, it still fails to outspeed (pokemon such as) Froslass and Dodrio and meets a swift end.

However, the former two despise Knock Off while the latter can take critical damage from Leaf Storm (mention scarf alolaslash)

team options needs a lot of work and the segues between mentioning partners for simisage arent concise and it's just not easy to read. let me know when you implement this so I can give this one last look
