Hello again everyone. The last time I found myself posting a team here, I came bringing the sand. Now I tried my hand at the other overused omnipresent weather: Rain. Now, when you think rain, you think Swift Swim Kingdra. I didn't even consider once using it on this team. Instead, I'm using a different, less used but way more powerful rain beast: Floatzel. I'll explain why in its section. Anyway, this team is very successful so far, reaching the top 10 on the day I created it, just below my other Sand team. Here's an in-depth look.
At A Glance:

Politoed (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SAtk
Quiet Nature (+SAtk, -Spd)
- Boil Over
- Ice Beam
- Toxic
- Focus Blast
A Rain team without Politoed will fail miserably, so this is a given. I took a more offensive route rather than the usual highly defensive EVs, mainly because I have a stigma against having a Pokemon on my team that does little damage. Boil Over, Ice Beam and Focus Blast (maybe not such a good idea, if you have anything better, lay it on me) give pretty good coverage, while Toxic hits things like Burungeru and Vaporeon that I can't hit otherwise. If no enemy inducers are present, then this is the first thing I sacrifice, and use as a status absorber. All the standard things Politoed should be doing are accomplished here.
Floatzel (F) @ Life Orb
Trait: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 136 SDef / 120 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Waterfall
- Ice Punch
- Bulk Up
- Aqua Jet
The best Rain sweeper since Kingdra. His Speed stat is so high, that you don't even need max Speed. The given EVs and an Adamant nature outspeeds Scarfed base 130s and...Jolly Kingdra in the rain. The rest go towards making it a bit bulkier, and since Bulk Up boosts Defense, they go into Special Defense. Waterfall is the main attack, outdamaging Kingdra's Waterfall with its much higher Attack, since it can actually run Adamant. Ice Punch hits Grass-types and Dragons, the main Water resists in the game besides itself. Aqua Jet seems redundant, but it comes in handy, especially when the Rain isn't up, like when I'm battling a sandstorm team. Physical Kingdra can't touch Floatzel's usefulness, and while a Specs Kingdra can exist, Tail Glow Manaphy all but outclasses it on my team, save for Draco Meteor. Floatzel is really underappreciated, and should be a top-tier threat, save for its slower, weaker cousin with the better typing being used so often.
Manaphy @ Life Orb
Trait: Hydration
EVs: 200 HP / 56 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Tail Glow
- Surf
- Energy Ball
- Rest
So broken that the Beta Server banned it (and for good reason), Tail Glow Manaphy makes its appearance here. Now that Tail Glow is +3 Special Attack, it takes only 2 turns to reach +6. My Special Attack is set to 250, for an even 1000 at +6. Rest is a 100% heal in the rain with Hydration, and Surf and Energy Ball provide neutral coverage on all types except for Dragons, which Floatzel can handle.
