For my (likely) last warstory for Gen V, we shall close up with a battle involving ShufflePard during my Liepard suspect test run. But wait, ShufflePard is cheap as hell! What kind of battle are you gonna show us when it's just "phaze all until the opponent dies?" Well, it is precisely why I decide to show you this battle, because let's just say...things go differently. Now we begin!

The only likely Stealth Rock setter he has is Rampardos, who may very well just be a Choice Banded or all-out attacker variant. There is a Musharna that may or may not be setup bait for Liepard, but I am worried about the Klang, his Zebstrika and his possibly Scarfed Primeape, his Klang being the largest threat due to Gear Grind breaking through my Substitutes.

A Superpower, which ends up getting soaked up by Substitute and induces the stat drops anyway. It may be apparent I could keep Subbing to soak up the hits and drain his Attack so I can make easier switches, but at the same time I felt that pivoting to Drifblim or Arbok would've been too obvious and he may just switch to escape Ditto's grasp. I decide to make the aggressive switch to Ditto in the hopes he over-anticipates.

Well shoot, he went straight for it anyway, costing me my Stealth Rock (if it even has it). However, I noticed Ditto copied Rampardos's stat drops as well, meaning no matter how much it Superpowered Ditto would still get KOed. I steal Musharna's Leftovers, granting me passive recovery and robbing Mushy of the same. I also notice Baton Pass on Mushy, which is a move it uses to either pass Calm Minds or escape boosted Pursuits. Either way, Baton Pass Mushy has no room for Signal Beam lest it reduce its utility, so there is still light at the end of the tunnel yet! In the meantime, I do not want Klang setting up Shift Gears on me, so I blow it away.

That's what I'd normally go for to weaken Klang ever so slightly (instead of giving it freaking Leftovers D: ), but Musharna is barely standing. Good, a clean KO. Now I have to assess the field: the 3 remaining Pokemon can all give Liepard trouble, the 2 faster Pokemon can both Volt-turn to break my Sub and switch into Klang, which can survive the 2HKO and KO me back. In this case, shuffling is actually useless at this point so I don't really need Liepard anymore, and should just focus on weakening Klang.

Currently, I have everyone (Liepard, Riolu, Shiftry, Drifblim and Arbok) except Ditto, while my opponent has Zebstrika, Primeape, and Klang. The numbers advantage doesn't really work for me as my pokes have no real way of fighting back unless circumstances are met, so I have to play this carefully: how do I KO 3 fully healthy Pokemon without resorting to shuffling?

What'd I tell you: misses more often than it crits. Pity that Zebstrika didn't get to pull off a 'final attack', but this was still a very fun game, totally haxfree! Awesome match flightlessbird, kudos to you!

Props:
: The Prankster duo strikes again! They kicked ass in some of my warstories, and they'll do the same here too! Liepard just cleaned house and wiped out 3 of my opponent's pokes, while Riolu showed Primeape who's boss and slapped Zebstrika some.
: It stopped an all-out Liepard sweep. Good job.

flightlessbird: He knew what he was doing, and made for a thrilling opponent and game :D

Slops:
: Whoops.
: ScarfRaika really?

: It's safe to say this thing cost flightlessbird heavily, despite his best efforts to sac it. He also wished this thing could explode :P

Honorable Mentions:
: ...F*ck you.

: Arbok certainly pivoted well, but he almost screwed up the whole game plan by nearly KOing Musharna, however he rectified his mistakes and even ended the game.

: Thanks to this dude's Nature Power, he was able to threaten a good majority of the opponent's team, though doing heavy damage to Musharna certainly cut it close.

And that concludes my final warstory in the Gen V era! See you guys soon!

It was a good read, although I wouldn't say Assist Liepard battles are fun to watch or to read

Seeing the amount of damage Gear Grind did (~50% per hit), I didn't think it would matter even if I had full health (I didn't try to calc). The only difference would be the early death of Klang (possibly), but a whole bunch of unnecessary turns as I would've dealt with Zeb and Ape in the same fashion, since I couldn't win with Liepard anyway with Zebstrika around.

This game was fantastic. Smart plays from great players, and showing both the power of Assist Liepard and the ability for an opponent to counter it.
