Draft Weavile

Status
Not open for further replies.
[overview]
**Draft Order**: Round 3 onwards

**Price Range**: 14-16 points

**Overview**: Weavile is a solid glass cannon due to its high Speed and Attack, great offensive typing, and good STAB moves. It also has a great priority option in Ice Shard, allowing it to clean easily. However, Weavile typically relies on damage-boosting items to deal maximum damage, and its frail defenses make it weak to priority moves and revenge killers. Its weakness to Stealth Rock also means it relies on Heavy-Duty Boots, making it difficult to utilize damage-boosting items.

[strategy comments]
Common Roles
========
**Wallbreaker**: Weavile with Choice Band is difficult to switch into and is usually the go-to wallbreaker set. Its strong STAB attacks and solid base Attack allow it to easily break through naturally bulky walls. Its main hindrances are its weakness to entry hazards and foes being able to easily take advantage of Weavile being Choice-locked.

**Setup Sweeper**: While Weavile often struggles to set up due to its frail defenses, a late-game Swords Dance-boosted Weavile is very threatening due to its strong STAB moves, decent coverage, and amazing Speed. It can also use Ice Shard to pick off faster revenge killers.

**Late-game Cleaner**: Due to its high Speed and priority moves, Weavile can function as a late-game cleaner. It can easily pick off Pokemon that have already been weakened by entry hazards or other wallbreakers.

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB Moves**: Knock Off, Triple Axel, Ice Shard, Ice Spinner, Icicle Crash

**Setup Moves**: Swords Dance, Trailblaze

**Utility Moves**: Taunt, Substitute

**Coverage**: Low Kick, Brick Break, Poison Jab, Aerial Ace

Niche Moves
========
**Baton Pass**: Baton Pass allows Weavile to act as a fast pivot in matchups where it doesn't provide much besides removing items with Knock Off.

**Beat Up**: Beat Up is used specifically in matchups where Weavile 2HKOes foes with a Choice Band equipped and doesn't get chipped by Rocky Helmet or abilities like Iron Barbs and Rough Skin. It should only be used if Weavile's teammates have high Attack. Beat Up is also used to break Substitutes more easily and deal damage after the Substitute breaks.

**Foul Play**: Foul Play is almost always used on Choice Scarf sets to outspeed opposing Pokemon that have used Dragon Dance or other Attack-heightening moves.

**Upper Hand**: Upper Hand can be used in matchups where the opponent has a strong priority move user like Palafin or Kingambit.

**Throat Chop**: Throat Chop is used in niche matchups where the Pokemon that counters Weavile uses a sound move, like Sylveon.

**Counter**: Counter is used with Focus Sash, allowing Weavile to act as a lead and do huge damage back to the foe with Counter.

Common Items
========
**Heavy-Duty Boots**: No matter Weavile's role, Heavy-Duty Boots helps Weavile get the most value out of itself, keeping it safe from chip damage from entry hazards. It is usually used on Swords Dance sets, increasing the amount of turns Weavile can switch in and set up or attack.

**Choice Band**: Choice Band Weavile serves as a fast and strong wallbreaker, being able to easily 2HKO certain Pokemon. Weavile also has the option of Ice Shard, which can revenge kill foes at low HP quite easily when used with a Choice Band equipped. However, any Weavile set that does not hold Heavy-Duty Boots as its item must be wary of entry hazards, either by using hazard removal or denying the hazard setter chances to set them.

**Focus Sash**: Focus Sash is used only on lead sets, but it guarantees that Weavile will survive one hit. This lets it remove an important item via Knock Off, get huge damage with Triple Axel, or even use Counter against a physical attacker to deal massive damage.

Niche Items
========
**Choice Scarf**: Choice Scarf lets Weavile outspeed faster foes like opposing Choice Scarf or Booster Energy users and KO them

**Damage-boosting Items**: Damage-boosting items such as Expert Belt, Life Orb, and Black Glasses can serve Weavile well in matchups where the extra damage is necessary but being locked into a move with Choice Band is unideal.

**Clear Amulet**: Clear Amulet protects Weavile from Intimidate and prevents foes from weakening its Swords Dance boosts.

**Lum Berry**: Lum Berry gives Weavile protection in matchups where status is good counterplay to it.

**Protective Pads**: Protective Pads gives Weavile protection against common ways to stop it, such as Static, Flame Body, and Rocky Helmet.

Tera
========
Weavile is a decent Tera user but often struggles due to its frail defenses and relatively easy counterplay. Weavile can use Tera Dark or Ice to boost its STAB attacks. It can also use a defensive Tera type like Tera Ghost, baiting incoming Fighting-type attacks and giving it a free turn to set up or attack. Tera also adds the benefit of Tera Blast, giving Weavile extra coverage in matchups it needs it in, such as against Grass- and Fire-types.

Draft Strategy
========
Weavile isn't a Pokemon teams are built around, but it can provide great wallbreaking power to enable its teammates or sweep late-game. It appreciates having teammates that can bring it in safely due to its low defenses, while its teammates appreciate its ability to weaken foes.

**Sweepers / Wallbreakers**: Sweepers and alternative wallbreakers often appreciate Weavile's wallbreaking power, especially special attackers that can break through physical walls that Weavile struggles with. Examples include Iron Valiant and Latias.

**Entry Hazard Setters**: While Weavile does great damage, it often fails to pick up KOs against foes. Entry hazards make its job of wallbreaking or cleaning easier, while having good synergy with Knock Off's ability to remove Heavy-Duty Boots from defensive foes. Pokemon like Garchomp and Gliscor make great partners with Weavile, having access to both Stealth Rock and Spikes, and Weavile can KO the Flying- and Grass-type Pokemon that can check them.

**Slow Pivots**: Weavile has both bad defensive stats and typing, being weak to common offensive types like Fire, Fighting, and Fairy. Because of its trouble switching in, Weavile likes having slow pivots on its team, which can tank hits for it and bring it in safely. Pokemon like Uxie, Rotom-W, and Empoleon can pivot well into Weavile.

**Entry Hazard Removal**: One of Weavile's biggest weaknesses is entry hazards, so having good hazard removal benefits Weavile greatly. Pokemon like Great Tusk, Terapagos, and Iron Treads are great partners, being able to remove hazards with Rapid Spin.

Checks And Counters
========
**Contact Effects**: Weavile is susceptible to contact effects, since most of its STAB attacks and coverage moves make contact. Because of that, one of the best ways to counter Weavile is with contact effects, such as Rocky Helmet or Rough Skin chipping it down, Flame Body burning it, and Static paralyzing it.

**Entry Hazards**: Weavile relies on Heavy-Duty Boots due to its weakness to Stealth Rock, making hazards valuable against it if its item is removed with Knock Off or if it wants to run more powerful items.

**Paralysis / Burn**: Weavile is heavily hindered if it gets paralyzed or burned, damaging its two strongest attributes in its Speed and damage output, respectively.

**Bulky Water- and Fairy-types**: Weavile often struggles to damage bulky Water- and Fairy-types. Weavile has no super effective coverage for Water-types such as Alomomola and Dondozo, and it relies on Poison Jab to hit Fairy-types such as Clefable and Primarina.

[overview]
**Draft order**: round 3 onwards

**Price range**: 14-16 points

Overview: Weavile is a solid glass cannon pokemon, due to his high speed and attack stats, offensive typing, and good stab moves. While it's a very potent threat that can rip holes in your opponents team, it is very frail due to its low defensive stats and poor defensive typing. Therefore it will be mostly used as a wallbreaker or a late game set up sweeper. (Mention Ice Shard somewhere in this paragraph)

[strategy comments]
Common Roles
========
**Wallbreaker**: a choice band Weavile has little checks, and is usually the go to wallbreaker set, being able to pick your checks in the builder. The only hindrance is the limited switch in number weavile gets due to its stealth rocks weakness. Alternatively you can use a swords dance set, which does not have the burst damage choice band provides, but can become very scary very quickly if managed to pull the swords dance.

**Set up sweeper**: A late game Weavile that managed to pull a swords dance off is very threatening, due to its high base power moves, amazing speed stat and priority move in ice shard.

**Late-game cleaner**: Weavile's exceptional Speed and priority allow it to finish off weakened Pokemon with ease. Provided its checks have been damaged or knocked out, it can win games without needing to set up.

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB moves**: Knock Off, Throat Chop, Triple Axel, Ice Shard, Ice Spinner, Icicle Crash

**Set up moves**: Swords Dance

**Utility moves**: Taunt, Substitute,

**Coverage**: Low Kick, Brick Break, Upper Hand, (move to niche) Poison Jab, Aerial Ace, Trailblaze, X-Scissor, Shadow Claw

Niche Moves
========
**Baton Pass**: Baton Pass allows Weavile to act as a fast pivot in match ups where he doesn't provide much besides knocking off items.

**Beat Up**: Beat Up is used specifically in match ups where Weavile 2hkos the opponents mons with a choice band equipped and doesn't get chipped by a rocky helmet or abilities like iron barbs or rough skin. The move should only be used if the other mons you brought to battle have high attack stats.

**Foul Play**: Foul Play is used almost always on choice scarf sets, to outspeed opposing mons that used dragon dance or other attack heightening moves

Common Items
========
**Heavy Duty Boots**: whether you want your Weavile to function as a wallbreaker, sweeper or just a simple offensive mon that clicks buttons, Heavy Duty Boots insure you can get the most value out of your Weavile by not getting chipped 25% of your health by stealth rocks every time you enter the battlefield. (Split into two sentences. Talk about how the longevity helps it and how it will usually run this on SD sets. Also change the first part to something like "No matter the Weavile's role...")

**Choice Band**: a Choice Banded Weavile reaches an impressive attack stat of 462, while an adamant one reaches an amazing attack stat of 507. (Calculated final stats are never in analyses according to Ken) Choice Band Weavile serves as a fast and strong breaker, being able to easily 2hko certain mons and posing one of the strongest priority moves in the game with choice band boosted ice shard. (Split into two sentences. Explain that the strong ice shard is nice for revenge killing, and that hazard removal is very important for band sets and other non-boots items)

Niche Items
========
**Choice Scarf**: Choice Scarf lets you outspeed certain +1 speed mons in the meta and kill them, such as booster speed Iron Boulder, booster speed Iron Valiant, booster speed Roaring Moon and more.

**Expert Belt Damage-boosting items**: Expert Belt provides extra power in match ups where your coverage moves are serving the purpose of beating your checks, such as Poison Jab for Primarina or Low Kick for Kingambit. (Combine with black glasses / nevermeltice)

**Clear Amulet**: Clear Amulet protects Weavile from intimidate making it easier to sweep with Swords Dance.

**Black Glasses/Never Melt Ice**: extra power for the primary stab in the match up if rocks are not a major issue in the match up.

**Lum Berry**: Lum Berry gives Weavile protection in match ups where status is a good counterplay to Weavile.

**Protective Pads**: (Could help with things like helmet, garchomp, and zapdos)

Tera
========
While Weavile does benefit from tera, there are almost always better options, making tera Weavile a worse option overall. However, Weavile can still be a good tera captain if you do choose to make it your tera captain. Weavile can use tera types like Dark/Ice to boost his STAB attacks or a more defensive tera like Ghost or Poison. (Explain why it's not the best option, and what kind of draft would lead to Tera Weavile being a good choice. Also expand on the types part to specify how a frail mon like Weavile benefits from defensive Tera. Also add a sentence about using Tera Blast + offensive types for extra coverage)

Draft Strategy
========
Weavile works best on offensive teams, but still appreciates having solid defensive walls alongside him to tank hits better. Weavile also likes having at least 3 pivots on his side, because of his trouble switching into the field.

.
**cleaning/wallbreaking partners**: While Weavile is capable of filling both roles, it wants to focus on each role to be used more effectively. Therefore, he appreciates having other mons on his side who are capable of filling those roles, so he isn't bound to one role for the leagues duration. Partners like Manaphy, Palafin or Ursaluna-bm can work well with Weavile.

**hazard setters**: While Weavile does great damage, he often fails to pick up 1 hit kos or 2 hit kos into opposing mons. Hazards make his job of wallbreaking or cleaning easier, while having a good synergy with Weavile Knock Off, being able to remove Heavy Duty Boots from opposing defensive mons. Hazard setters like Lando-T, Great Tusk or Garchomp can work well with Weavile

**slow pivots**: Weavile has both bad defensive stats and bad defensive typing, being weak to common offensive types like Fire, Fighting and Fairy. Because of his trouble switching in, Weavile likes having slow pivots on his team, which can tank the hits for him and bring him in safely. Slow pivots like Rotom-Wash, Scizor, Slowking-Galar or Corviknight can work well with Weavile.

Checks And Counters
========
**Rocky Helmet**: Weavile is really susceptible to Rocky Helmet chipping it down, especially because one of his best STAB attacks in Triple Axel hits 3 times. (Expand to include other adverse contact effects like static and flame body)

**Hazards**: While Weavile tends to use the item Heavy Duty Boots a lot to not get chipped by hazards, in the instances that Weavile opts for a different item or if the item got knocked off/tricked, Weavile will have less chances to get onto the field.

**Thunder Wave/Will O Wisp**: Weavile gets crippled heavily if he gets paralyzed or burned, damaging his 2 strongest attributes in his damage output or speed respectively.

**Bulky Water/Fairy Types**: Weavile often struggles to damage bulky Water or Fairy types, having to read the Fairy type switch in with a Poison Jab, while not having a great tool to damage Water types effectively. Mons like Clefable, Alomamola or dondozo check Weavile reliably.

**Priority**: Due to Weavile being so fast but frail, priority moves tend to be very good at checking him. Moves like Mach Punch, vacuum Wave, Extreme Speed or Jet Punch do a great job at revenging Weavile, often locking him into clicking Ice Shard or switching out.

(Talk about counterplay for all of these ^)

**Wallbreaker**: a choice band Weavile has little checks, Weavile with Choice Band is difficult to switch into and is usually the go to wallbreaker set, being able to pick your checks in the builder. Its strong STAB attacks and solid base Attack allow it to easily break through naturally bulky walls. The only main hindrance is the limited switch in number number of switchins wWeavile gets due to its stealth rocks Stealth Rock weakness. Being choice locked can also give opponents a better position after a KO. Alternatively you can use a swords dance set, which does not have the burst damage choice band provides, but can become very scary very quickly if managed to pull the swords dance. Different set & is discussed below

**Set up sweeper**: While Weavile often struggles to setup due to its frail defenses, A late game Weavile that managed to pull a swords dance Swords Dance off is very threatening, due to its high base power moves strong STAB moves, amazing speed stat and priority move in ice shard Ice Shard.

**Late game cleaner**: dDue to its high speed and priority, Weavile can function as a late game cleaner. Weavile It can kill the opponents remaining mons with relative ease, provided and if its checks have been chipped down or knocked down, it can win games without even setting up.

Common Moves
========
**Primary STAB moves**: Knock Off, Throat Chop, Triple Axel, Ice Shard, Ice Spinner, Icicle Crash Throat Chop can be listed as niche if anything - nobody's running it over knock off unless there's like a sylveon or something

**Set up moves**: Swords Dance

**Utility moves**: Taunt, Substitute

**Coverage**: Low Kick, Brick Break, Poison Jab, Aerial Ace, Trailblaze Trailblaze is setup

Niche Moves
========
**Baton Pass**: Baton Pass allows Weavile to act as a fast pivot in match ups where he doesn't provide much besides knocking off items. Move to common utility

Also good for breaking subs & dealing more damage afterwards

**Foul Play**: Foul Play is used almost always on choice scarf sets, to outspeed opposing mons that used dragon dance or other attack heightening moves

**Upper Hand**: Upper Hand can be used in match ups where the opponent has a strong priority user, like Palafin or Dragonite. Dragonite isn't a good example, it's doing like 5% back to dragonite

Maybe too niche, but dig + power herb is alright for some steels, up to you though
Counter with focus sash is also super niche but good tech in some mus

Common Items
========
**Heavy Duty Boots**: No matter the Weavile’s role, Heavy Duty Buts Boots helps Weavile get the most value out of itself, keeping it safe from hazards chip. Heavy Duty Boots are usually used on Swords Dance sets, increasing the amount of turns it can switch in and set up or attack.

**Choice Band**: Choice Band Weavile serves as a fast and strong breaker, being able to easily 2hko certain mons. Weavile also has the option of Ice shard, which when used with a band equipped can revenge low hp mons quite easily. However, any Weavile set that does not hold Heavy Duty Boots as its item must be weary of hazards, either by hazard removal or denying the hazard setter chances to set them.

Add Focus Sash
Niche Items
========
**Choice Scarf**: Choice Scarf lets you Weavile outspeed certain +1 speed faster mons in the meta and kill them, such as booster speed Iron Boulder, booster speed Iron Valiant, booster speed Roaring Moon and more. opposing Choice Scarf or Booster Energy users.

**Damage-boosting items**: Damage-boosting items such as Expert Belt, Life Orb or Black Glasses can serve Weavile in match ups where the extra damage helps with picking 1 hit kos or 2 hit kos more easily. It is used over Choice Band in match ups where locking yourself into one move is too dangerous. is necessary but being locked into a move with Choice Band is unideal.

**Clear Amulet**: Clear Amulet protects Weavile from iIntimidate making it easier to sweep with Swords Dance.

**Lum Berry**: Lum Berry gives Weavile protection in match ups where status is a good counterplay to Weavile.

**Protective Pads**: Protective Pads gives Weavile protection against common ways to stop it such as Static, Flame Body or Rocky Helmet.

Tera
========
While Weavile can benefit from tera, there are almost always better options with more power or versatility Weavile is a decent Tera user but often struggles due to its frail defenses and relatively easy counterplay. Weavile can use tera types like Dark/Ice to boost its STAB attacks. It can also use a defensive tera type like Ghost, baiting incoming Fighting attacks and giving it a free turn to set up or attack. Tera also adds the benefit of Tera Blast, giving Weavile extra coverage in match ups it needs. such as Grass or Fire.

Draft Strategy
========
Weavile works best on offensive teams, but still appreciates having solid defensive walls alongside him it to tank hits better. Weavile It also likes having pivots on its side, because of his trouble switching into the field. All of this is covered below - talk about generally why you would draft weavile here & what it brings to a team
Example:
While Weavile is not a Pokemon that a team is built around, it can offer great breaking power to enable its teammates or sweep in the late-game. It appreciates teammates that can get it in safely due to its low defenses, while its teammates appreciate its ability to weaken foes.

.
**cleaning/wallbreaking partners Win Conditions/Wallbreakers**: While Weavile is capable of filling both roles, it wants to focus on each role to be used more effectively. Therefore, it appreciates having other mons on its side who are capable of filling those roles, so it isn't bound to one role for the leagues duration. Win conditions and alternative wallbreakers often appreciate Weavile's breaking power, especially special attackers that can break through physical walls that Weavile struggles with. Examples include Iron Valiant and Latias.

**Entry hHazard sSetters**: While Weavile does great damage, it often fails to pick up 1 hit kos or 2 hit kos KOs into opposing mons. Entry Hhazards make its job of wallbreaking or cleaning easier, while having a good synergy with Weavile Knock Off, being able to remove Heavy Duty Boots from opposing defensive mons.

**sSlow pPivots**: Weavile has both bad defensive stats and bad defensive typing, being weak to common offensive types like Fire, Fighting and Fairy. Because of its trouble switching in, Weavile likes having slow pivots on his its team, which can tank the hits for him it and bring him it in safely.

Add hazard removal - it's basically the most important thing & is not mentioned
Give a few mon examples in each section - look at other writeups to see what i mean

Checks And Counters
========
**Contact Effects**: Weavile is really susceptible to contact effects, since most of its STAB attacks and coverage make contact. Because of that, one of the best ways to counter Weavile is with contact effects, such as Rocky Helmet/Rough Skin chipping it down, Flame Body burning it or Static paralyzing it. A way to get around it is to use Protective Pads, however if u dont want to sacrifice your item slot, you can opt to use non contact moves like icicle crash. This section focuses on how to counter weavile, so this is all irrelevant (and discussed above)

**Hazards**: While Weavile tends to use the item Heavy Duty Boots a lot to not get chipped by hazards, in the instances that Weavile opts for a different item or if the item got knocked off/tricked, Weavile will have less chances to get onto the field. Weavile relies on Heavy Duty Boots due to its weakness to Stealth Rock, making hazards valuable for if its item is knocked off or if it wants to run more powerful items. Heavy Duty Boots should solve that problem usually, though it is always nice to have a hazard removal option on your team as well.

**Thunder Wave/Will O Wisp Paralysis/Burn**: Weavile gets crippled heavily if it gets paralyzed or burned, damaging its 2 strongest attributes in its damage output or speed respectively. Ways to get around it are holding the lum berry, or simply switching to a pokemon that can soak the status, like a ground type for paralysis.

**Bulky Water/Fairy Types**: Weavile often struggles to damage bulky Water or Fairy types. Weavile has no super-effective coverage for Water-types such as ___ and ___, and it relies on Poison Jab to hit fairy-types such as ___ and ___. having to read the Fairy type switch in with a Poison Jab, while not having a great tool to damage Water types effectively. Hazards can help in this case immensely, chipping its checks down overtime. Weavile can also knock off their item if they hold Heavy Duty Boots.

3. counter and dig feel way too niche for me
4. dgba doc had weavile at 14 pts, lemme know if i should still make it 15-16 pts

**Draft order**: Round 3 onwards

**Price range**: 14-16 points

Overview: Weavile is a solid glass cannon pokemon, due to his high speed and attack stats, offensive typing, and good stab moves. It is a very potent threat that can rip holes in opposing teams, and has a great priority option in Ice Shard, allowing it to clean games easily. However, Weavile falls short on the defensive aspect, and often relies on damage-boosting items or chip damage to KO foes. However, Weavile typically relies on damage-boosting to deal maximum damage, and its frail defenses make it weak to priority and revenge killers. Its weakness to Stealth Rock also means it relies on Heavy-Duty Boots, making it difficult to utilize damage-boosting items. Just rewording / adding a little

========
**Wallbreaker**:Weavile with Choice Band is difficult to switch into, and is usually the go to wallbreaker set. Its strong STAB attacks and solid base Attack allow it to easily break through naturally bulky walls. The main hindrance is the limited number of switchins Weavile gets due to its Stealth Rock weakness. Being choice locked can also give opponents a better position after a KO.. Its main hindrances are its weakness to entry hazards and foes being able to easily take advantage of Weavile being choice-locked. Rewording

**Set up sweeper**: While Weavile often struggles to setup due to its frail defenses, A late game Weavile that managed to pull a Swords Dance off is very threatening, due to its strong STAB moves, amazing speed stat and priority move in Ice Shard. decent coverage, and amazing speed stat. It can also use Ice Shard to pick off faster revenge killers.

**Late game cleaner**: Due to its high speed and priority, Weavile can function as a late game cleaner. It can kill the opponents remaining mons with relative ease, and if its checks have been chipped down or knocked down, it can win games without setting up. It can easily pick off Pokemon that have already been weakened by entry hazards or other wallbreakers.

Common Moves

**Primary STAB moves**: Knock Off, Triple Axel, Ice Shard, Ice Spinner, Icicle Crash

**Set up moves**: Swords Dance, Trailblaze

**Utility moves**: Taunt, Substitute,

Niche Moves
========
**Baton Pass**: Baton Pass allows Weavile to act as a fast pivot in match ups where he it doesn't provide much besides knocking off items.

Beat Up is also used to break Substitutes more easily, and deal damage after the Substitute broke.

**Foul Play**: Foul Play is used almost always on choice scarf sets, to outspeed opposing mons that used dragon dance or other attack heightening moves

**Upper Hand**: Upper Hand can be used in match ups where the opponent has a strong priority user, like Palafin or Kingambit.

**Throat Chop**: Throat chop is used in niche matchups where the mon that counters Weavile uses a sound base move, like Sylveon.

**Choice Band**: Choice Band Weavile serves as a fast and strong breaker, being able to easily 2hko certain mons. Weavile also has the option of Ice shard, which when used with a band equipped can revenge low hp mons quite easily. **Clear Amulet**: Clear Amulet protects Weavile from intimidate making it easier to sweep with Swords Dance. and preventing foes from weakening its Swords Dance boosts.

**Lum Berry**: Lum Berry gives Weavile protection in match ups where status is a good counterplay to Weavile.

**Protective Pads**: Protective Pads gives Weavile protection against common ways to stop it such as Static, Flame Body or Rocky Helmet.

Tera
========
Weavile is a decent Tera user but often struggles due to its frail defenses and relatively easy counterplay. Weavile can use tera Dark/Ice to boost its STAB attacks. It can also use a defensive tera type like Ghost, baiting incoming Fighting attacks and giving it a free turn to set up or attack. Tera also adds the benefit of Tera Blast, giving Weavile extra coverage in match ups it needs. Such as grass and fire.

Draft Strategy
========
Weavile isn't usually a mon to build your team around. However, Weavile isn't a Pokemon teams are built around, but it can provide great breaking power to enable its teammates or sweep in the late-game. It appreciates having mons on its side who can bring him it in safely due to its low defenses, while its teammates appreciate its ability to weaken foes.

**Win Conditions/Wallbreakers**: Win conditions and alternative wallbreakers often appreciate Weavile's breaking power, especially special attackers that can break through physical walls that Weavile struggles with. Examples include Iron Valiant and Latias.

**Entry Hazard Setters**: While Weavile does great damage, he it often fails to pick up KOs into opposing mons. Entry hazards make his its job of wallbreaking or cleaning easier, while having a good synergy with Knock Off, being able to remove Heavy Duty Boots from opposing defensive mons. Mons like Garchomp and Gliscor make great partners with Weavile, having both Stealth Rock and Spikes, and Weavile who can kill the Flying and Grass type mons that can check Garchomp and Gliscor.

**Slow Pivots**: Weavile has both bad defensive stats and typing, being weak to common offensive types like Fire, Fighting and Fairy. Because of his its trouble switching in, Weavile likes having slow pivots on its team, which can tank the hits for it and bring it in safely. Mons like Uxie, Rotom-Wash and Empoleon can pivot well into Weavile.

**Entry Hazard Removal**: One of Weavile’s biggest weaknesses is Entry hazards, so having good Hazard removal benefits Weavile greatly. Mons like Great Tusk, Terapagos and Iron treads are great partners, being able to remove Hazards with Rapid Spin.

Checks And Counters
========
**Contact Effects**: Weavile is susceptible to contact effects, since most of its STAB attacks and coverage make contact. Because of that, one of the best ways to counter Weavile is with contact effects, such as Rocky Helmet/Rough Skin chipping it down, Flame Body burning it or Static paralyzing it.

**Hazards**: Weavile relies on Heavy Duty Boots due to its weakness to Stealth Rock, making hazards valuable for countering it if its item is knocked off or if it wants to run more powerful items.

**Paralysis/Burn**: Weavile gets crippled heavily if it gets paralyzed or burned, damaging its 2 strongest attributes in its damage output or speed respectively.

**Bulky Water/Fairy Types**: Weavile often struggles to damage bulky Water or Fairy types. Weavile has no super-effective coverage for Water-types such as Alomaomola and Dondozo, and it relies on Poison Jab to hit fairy-types such as Clefable and Primarina.
