Mega Altaria is not deemed viable in OU (it's not on the viability rankings), and I believe submissions for this competition must be viable. The idea behind this competition is providing Pokemon/sets that can check the victim while also putting in work in other matchups.

Honestly this set appears troublesome on paper but just as it kills any non- ">100" basestat hp mon it always dies for it as well which puts the game in a 5v5 situation. In reality it's hard to build around and even struggles to get it's gambit off in some games due hazards & prio.
On paper this is the second best hard counter you can find, bro with a z-crystal/megastone being the best.

:sm/Alomomola: @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 40 HP / 216 Def / 252 SpD
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Toxic
- Wish
- Protect

takes gambit, recovers with regen
sits on vcreate for days
takes virtually no damage from uturn
can scout for trick with tect
if it gets tricked on the switchin so be it, it's still gonna be a scald/toxic/wish bot

Counter: Garchomp

Congrats - Manaphy (Veez) wins as the most voted check, and somehow Alomomola (Erzengel), Slowbro (Katy), Garchomp (Solaros & Lunaris) all tied for counter.

Here's the next week:
:sm/rotom-wash:
Rotom-Wash @ Electrium Z
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 108 HP / 184 SpA / 216 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Thunder
- Pain Split

Offensive Rotom-W is a great pivot with Volt Switch and Pain Split greatly annoying many bulky teams, and many Ground-types have to risk taking a Hydro Pump as they try and block a Volt Switch. Electrium Z provides an important nuke that allows Rotom-Wash to overwhelm certain bulky checks like Magearna and Clefable, and scare out any Celesteela or Toxapex thinking that they are able to tank a Volt Switch and heal back up later. How can you check this? Post your submissions before the upcoming Tuesday!

EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature

- Toxic

Thanks to its excellent typing and ability, Gastrodon is one of the best counters to offensive Rotom-W.

Seismitoad @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Scald
- Toxic
- Earthquake / Protect

Seismitoad is a counter to Rotom-Wash as it completely walls it since it can't be touched by Electric- or Water-type attacks (it can even regain health on a predicted Hydro Pump) and it can set rocks or spread toxic/burns in return. The only thing that can be somewhat annoying is Pain Split but it can always bring Rotom down thanks to Toxic.

Banned deucer.
ferrothorn

:sm/Ferrothorn:
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 24 Def / 232 SpD
IVs: 0 Spe
Sassy Nature
- Spikes / Stealth Rock
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball
- Power Whip

Ferrothorn is a counter
to Rotom-Wash as it is able to resist both STABs from Rotom-Wash and Z-Thunder won't do too much either. Ferrothorn can also gain Health back
due to its access to Leech Seed but first and foremost it is able to set entry hazards on the field with either Stealth Rocks or Spikes to whittle down the rest of the team
from Rotom-Wash. Power Whip has a chance to OHKO Rotom-Wash even without prio damage done by Stealth Rocks. With the chip damage of Stealth Rocks
Power Whip clearly gets rid of Rotom-Wash.

Calcs:
184 SpA Rotom-Wash Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 232+ SpD Ferrothorn: 48-57 (13.6 - 16.1%) -- possible 9HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
184 SpA Rotom-Wash Volt Switch vs. 252 HP / 232+ SpD Ferrothorn: 30-36 (8.5 - 10.2%) -- possibly the worst move ever
184 SpA Rotom-Wash Thunder vs. 252 HP / 232+ SpD Ferrothorn: 48-57 (13.6 - 16.1%) -- possible 9HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
184 SpA Rotom-Wash Gigavolt Havoc (185 BP) vs. 252 HP / 232+ SpD Ferrothorn: 81-96 (23 - 27.2%) -- possible 5HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

0 Atk Ferrothorn Power Whip vs. 108 HP / 0 Def Rotom-Wash: 234-276 (87.3 - 102.9%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
0 Atk Ferrothorn Gyro Ball (150 BP) vs. 108 HP / 0 Def Rotom-Wash: 36-42 (13.4 - 15.6%) -- possible 6HKO after Stealth Rock

Amoonguss @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sludge Bomb
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Spore

Amoonguss resists Rotom's STAB moves, hits super effectively with giga drain, and stays healthy with regenerator, black sludge, and giga drain. Spore punishes switch ins, sludge bomb bops Bulu, and HP fire OHKOs Kartana. I personally like to use chilian berry because normalium Kart can otherwise beat Amoonguss, but that's not important here anyway.

Nominating as a counter

Latios @ Latiosite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Psychic
- Earthquake
- Draco Meteor / Ice Beam / Thunderbolt
- Roost

What if you wanted to lure Pex but your opp said MLati? Latios is a counter to both variants of Rotom, taking pitiful damage from all its attacks and even not being annoyed by Will-o too much. Even if Rotom volts out, something slower will either get bopped by coverage, while something faster will likely fail to OHKO.

Tapu Bulu @ Leftovers
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Swords Dance / Bulk Up
- Horn Leech
- Superpower
- Synthesis / Protect

Tapu Bulu is a counter to Rotom-Wash. Its typing and bulk allow it to switch in on any of Rotom's attacks, then KO with Grassy Terrain-boosted Horn Leech. Since Rotom's attacks do so little damage (even Z-Thunder fails to 3HKO), and this particular variant lacks Will-O-Wisp, Bulu can use the inevitable switch out as an opportunity to set up or heal.

Offensive:
0 Atk Tapu Bulu Horn Leech vs. 108 HP / 0 Def Rotom-Wash in Grassy Terrain: 288-342 (107.4 - 127.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
-1 0 Atk Tapu Bulu Horn Leech vs. 108 HP / 0 Def Rotom-Wash in Grassy Terrain: 192-228 (71.6 - 85%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 Atk Tapu Bulu Superpower vs. 108 HP / 0 Def Rotom-Wash: 102-121 (38 - 45.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
+1 0 Atk Tapu Bulu Superpower vs. 108 HP / 0 Def Rotom-Wash: 153-181 (57 - 67.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 0 Atk Tapu Bulu Superpower vs. 108 HP / 0 Def Rotom-Wash: 204-240 (76.1 - 89.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
-1 0 Atk Tapu Bulu Superpower vs. 108 HP / 0 Def Rotom-Wash: 68-81 (25.3 - 30.2%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

Defensive:
184 SpA Rotom-Wash Hydro Pump vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Tapu Bulu: 54-65 (15.7 - 18.9%) -- possibly the worst move ever
184 SpA Rotom-Wash Volt Switch vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Tapu Bulu: 35-42 (10.2 - 12.2%) -- possibly the worst move ever
184 SpA Rotom-Wash Thunder vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Tapu Bulu: 54-65 (15.7 - 18.9%) -- possibly the worst move ever
184 SpA Rotom-Wash Gigavolt Havoc (185 BP) vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Tapu Bulu: 92-108 (26.8 - 31.4%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery and Grassy Terrain recovery

Kyurem-Black @ Life Orb
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

Calcs
184 SpA Rotom-Wash Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Kyurem-Black: 89-105 (22.7 - 26.8%) -- 41.3% chance to 4HKO

184 SpA Rotom-Wash Gigavolt Havoc(Thunder) (185 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Kyurem-Black: 149-176 (38.1 - 45%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Meanwhile:
4 Atk Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Fusion Bolt vs. 108 HP / 0 Def Rotom-Wash: 140-166 (52.2 - 61.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Nominated as a counter.

Tangrowth as a counter. Even if you're physdef, washtom can't hit you nearly hard enough to threaten anything, while uninvested giga drain is a clean 2hko:

0 SpA Tangrowth Giga Drain vs. 108 HP / 0 SpD Rotom-Wash: 168-198 (62.6 - 73.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Between giga and regen recovery, pain split will do 0.

Tangrowth @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 12 Def / 244 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Giga Drain
- Knock Off
- Hidden Power Ice
- Earthquake

Since Shedinja is being brought up for a spot the VR due to its viability on specific Stall teams and has the tournament success to back it up I guess I'll go with that.

Shedinja @ Focus Sash
Lonely Nature
Ability: Wonder Guard
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
- Will-O-Wisp
- Shadow Sneak
- X-Scissor
- Swords Dance/Protect

This variant of Rotom-Wash literally cannot touch Shedinja whatsoever, though Shedinja obviously has to be extremely cautious of the prospective Will-o-Wisp from a defensive variant. With proper scouting the Electrium set can be properly discerned and once scouted for Shedinja generates a tremendous amount of pressure by forcing it to switch out and forcing its teammates to take damage from its hazards, to eat a potential Burn, or to potentially be KO'd by one of Shedinja's attacks.

Shedinja is therefore a counter to offensive Rotom-Wash. It literally cannot touch Shedinja, period.

To be fair Shedinja hardwalls like half the metagame so I'm not sure if it should be allowed as a submission.

I think I'll let this one pass, but I'll definitely add that to the rules for future submissions
