Nominating mega latias as a counter

Mega latias is a counter as it takes pitiful damage from all of washtoms attacks and can get a free cm or spam recover all the while chipping at washtom. It has to be weary of thunder para though. Though if you're something unorthodox like refresh you counter it completely.

The set: Calm Mind
Recover/Roost
Stored Power/Psyshock
Ice Beam/Refresh

You need to provide a set, as far as I know, even though pretty much any set can counter.

WEEK 12

COUNTERS

Now before you all get mad and say you submitted "counters", here's something Jordy has kindly notified me of.
A lot of the supposed Rotom-W counters is actually taken advantaged of with Volt Switch and Pain Split, which is actually one of the main points of using offensive Rotom-W, which is to annoy balance / bulky teams that regularly use Mega Latias / Ferrothorn / Amoonguss as their Rotom-W switch-in by allowing Rotom-W to gain health from Pain Split due to the naturally high HP stat of these checks, and to apply huge pressure on these Pokemon through Volt Switching out into an answer, and I briefly touched that by saying it annoys bulky teams at the start of the week:
Offensive Rotom-W is a great pivot with Volt Switch and Pain Split greatly annoying many bulky teams
I also quote from Jordy, "something thats been brought to my attention a few times now with victim of the week is that the victim's role at hand is not taken into consideration".

Therefore, aside from the counters in the list above, which block Volt Switch and are immune to all of Rotom-W's moves, the remainder are merely checks because they are taken advantage of by Volt Switch, and a lot of them are actually pressured by its teammates (and by that I am referring to my builder with teams that include offensive Rotom-W only) like Tyranitar or Tornadus-T.

Furthermore, I will definitely be putting this into consideration while making the Checks/Counters list in the upcoming weeks, which I know is not a lot, and implement a new rule which I also hope to be brought into the new generation (assuming the targetted Pokemon is still in Swsh), which is Shedinja is banned from future checks and counters, as it can wall Pokemon without any super effective coverage against it, meaning if I post a set with nothing that allows it to touch Shedinja, like the most recent one, Shedinja is automatically a "counter", but in practice it might not always work, because there are many slight variations to the same set.

Also please remember to submit a full set, which should look like an importable from the Smogon Dex / Pokemon Showdown! Teambuilder and add at least brief descriptions to them (calcs or words).

That beings said, voting ends on Friday. Have a great week everyone!

Check: Amoonguss
Counter: Gastrodon

Gastrodon by Jordy and Tangrowth by volx757 has won this week - let's move on to our next one!

:sm/Gliscor:
Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 244 HP / 244 SpD / 20 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Roost
- Earthquake
- Facade

While it has fallen off from its hype in the first few weeks of the Smogon Snake Draft, Specially Defensive Swords Dance Gliscor is a popular set in ORAS, and is now the same in USUM, where its ability to beat the likes of Toxapex, Tornadus-T, and Landorus-T is invaluable on a lot of teams. Even though Swords Dance Gliscor is quite dangerous to many fat teams, it is not that difficult to check if sufficiently prepared. What do you use as a check/counter for Swords Dance Gliscor? Post your submissions below! Submissions end on Saturday

Skarmory @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Roost
- Spikes
- Whirlwind
- Counter

Skarmory is a counter to Swords Dance Gliscor.

Skarmory's Steel/Flying-typing combined with its excellent 140 base defense allows it to wall Gliscor for days. Even if it were running Toxic it's immune to it. Skarmory can either set up Spikes on Gliscor or Whirlwind it out (or even Counter Facade's damage back). Even at +6 Facade is only a 3HKO so you can spike up quite safely and phaze it out (or use Counter to do up to ~70%).

+6 0 Atk Gliscor Facade (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory: 109-128 (32.6 - 38.3%) -- 98.6% chance to 3HKO

Tangrowth @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 168 Def / 88 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Giga Drain
- Knock Off
- Hidden Power Ice
- Sludge Bomb / Sleep Powder

Physdef Tangrowth walls Gliscor very easily and can wear it down with Hidden Power Ice + chip damage from Rocky Helmet. Once Gliscor is at low health, it can also spam Giga Drain in order to prevent it from using Roost. Unlike other checks such as Mega Latias/Skarmory, Tangrowth isn't vulnerable to trapping and doesn't need to forfeit momentum by using Roost.
  • 0 Atk Gliscor Facade (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 168+ Def Tangrowth: 63-75 (15.5 - 18.5%) -- possible 6HKO
  • +2 0 Atk Gliscor Facade (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 168+ Def Tangrowth: 126-149 (31.1 - 36.8%) -- 76.4% chance to 3HKO

  • 0 SpA Tangrowth Hidden Power Ice vs. 244 HP / 244 SpD Gliscor: 180-216 (51.1 - 61.3%) -- 53.9% chance to 2HKO after Poison Heal
  • 0 SpA Tangrowth Giga Drain vs. 244 HP / 244 SpD Gliscor: 84-100 (23.8 - 28.4%) -- possible 6HKO after Poison Heal
  • 0 SpA Tangrowth Giga Drain vs. 244 HP / 244 SpD Gliscor: 168-200 (47.7 - 56.8%) -- 1.6% chance to 2HKO after Poison Heal (once Roost removes its Ground typing)

M-Latias outpaces Gliscor, can bounce off any of Gliscor's attacks bar +6 Facade, and has a favorable roll on OHKOing Gliscor with Ice Beam from full.

It outspeeds and OHKOs with Ice Punch, not much to elaborate on here. Not much switches into Medi anyway. It also eats unboosted Earthquake and Facade if necessary.

Thanks to its good natural bulk and typing, Kyurem-B can easily use Gliscor as an opportunity to switch into play. The set doesn't really matter, but I tend to prefer this one because it can afford to run Roost.

Comes in forever, really only fearing (Toxic) Spikes from a partner Pex/Ferro. Just come in and slap with Ice Beam. Counter. Btw this spread is Srn ‘s and it does several things. It creeps and 2hkoes Pex, takes two Hurricanes from helm torn with the rest in Def to take hits better.

Totally creative nomination that I didn't just export from a team of mine:

Pyukumuku @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic / Rest
- Spite
- Recover
- Block

Walls Gliscor indefinitely, traps and pp stalls it. If you are running toxic, you can use it on whatever to trick your opponent into thinking you don't have spite, since Pyukumuku usually runs rest with spite. That way you can lure and trap Gliscor.

reserving weavile

:sm/Weavile:
Weavile @ Choice Band
Ability: Pickpocket
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard

- Pursuit

Weavile is a check to Gliscor because Weavile threatens to OHKO Gliscor with its Ice-Type STAB and furthermore it has access to Knock off meaning if the Gliscor
User isn't careful Weavile can Knock off Gliscors Toxic-Orb, so the player should remove Weavile first, before starting the boost with Swords Dance.
Furthermore Weavile is faster than Gliscor so it always threatens out Gliscor so Gliscor won't get OHKOed and thus will loose the possible Swords Dance boost.
Weavile itself cannot come in so often, but it can do a pretty good job at keeping Gliscor at bay for a decent amount of time during the battle.

Calcs:

0 Atk Gliscor Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Weavile: 145-172 (51.6 - 61.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
0 Atk Gliscor Facade (140 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Weavile: 136-161 (48.3 - 57.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 244 HP / 0 Def Gliscor: 186-219 (52.8 - 62.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Poison Heal
252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Icicle Crash vs. 244 HP / 0 Def Gliscor: 648-768 (184 - 218.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Ice Shard vs. 244 HP / 0 Def Gliscor: 304-364 (86.3 - 103.4%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock and Poison Heal
252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Pursuit vs. 244 HP / 0 Def Gliscor: 76-91 (21.5 - 25.8%) -- possible 6HKO after Stealth Rock and Poison Heal

Ability: Static
EVs: 248 HP / 188 Def / 72 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Discharge
- Heat Wave
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Roost

Zapdos can easily remove Gliscor with Hidden Power Ice and is capable of living +2 Facade after rocks and is immune to Earthquake thanks to it's flying typing , as well as having access to Roost to recover any major damage. The only threatening thing is losing the speed tie against Gliscor at +2 and being worn down at checking Gliscor.

Nominating rotom wash as a check.

:sm/Rotom-Wash:

Rotom wash can easily tank a facade and retaliate with a STAB Hydro pump. It's also immune to earthquake due to levitate allowing it to easily beat glisc in a 1v1. It can't switch into a +2 facade from glisc though as it gets 2HKOd if offensive and a small chance to get 2HKOd if defensive. Guaranteed 2HKO after rocks though and glisc can easily tank a Hydro from offensive rotom if it hardswitches in and can KO it with a facade which is why I'm nomming as a check.

EVs: 252 HP/200 Def/56 Speed
OR
108 HP/184 Sp Atk/216 Speed

Set: Hydro Pump
Volt switch
Thunder/Will O Wisp
Pain Split/Defog

Calcs: 184 SpA Rotom-Wash Hydro Pump vs. 244 HP / 244 SpD Gliscor: 282-332 (80.1 - 94.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Poison Heal
+2 0 Atk Gliscor Facade (140 BP) vs. 108 HP / 0 Def Rotom-Wash: 181-214 (67.5 - 79.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 0 Atk Gliscor Facade (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 200+ Def Rotom-Wash: 138-163 (45.3 - 53.6%) -- 1.2% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Latios @ Latiosite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Psychic
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam
- Roost

Latios can come in on a Facade/Earthquake and use Ice Beam to KO Gliscor.

0 Atk Gliscor Facade (140 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Latios: 116-137 (38.5 - 45.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

+2 0 Atk Gliscor Facade (140 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Latios: 232-273 (77 - 90.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 SpA Latios Ice Beam vs. 244 HP / 244 SpD Gliscor: 376-444 (106.8 - 126.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Going to nominate this as check, but unsure about this one.

Nominating quagsire a counter, it can come freely in a facade or EQ
0 Atk Gliscor Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Quagsire: 84-99 (21.3 - 25.1%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Gliscor Facade (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Quagsire: 78-92 (19.7 - 23.3%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery

And slowly worm it down
0 SpA Quagsire Scald vs. 244 HP / 244 SpD Gliscor: 116-140 (32.9 - 39.7%) -- 98.8% chance to 4HKO after Poison Heal
