We're using SPL's system of retaining players this year, and that means that players will cost 3k more than their last year's purchase price if they haven't been retained before, with a minimum price of 10k. For players that have been retained before, that price increases by 6k in the second year, 9k in the third year, and so forth. It's a bunch of math, but the signups threads contain lists of the prices of all of the potential multi-year retains, which will help our managers calculate it out. Contrary to what was said in UUPL VI, all 8 teams can retain players from last year. The bottom two don't have to start fresh!
Manager prices are now 10k + 1.5k for each game they won in the last UUPL they played in. For example, if I won 3 games in UUPL V and didn't play in UUPL VI, in order to buy myself as a manager, I would need to spend 14.5k.
You may only retain three players. Purchasing yourself as a manager counts as a retain. So, as a manager, you can either buy yourself and retain two people maximum, or not buy yourself and retain three people maximum.
You may not trade retention rights with other managers.
As always, both the manager of a team and the player he wishes to retain need to agree. As such, if you are a manager looking to retain a player, create a forum PM including the host (A Cake Wearing A Hat), yourself and the player you wish to retain, and both of you will need to confirm the retention.
We're instituting a new rule that a maximum of 20 players can be added per team. No armies, folks.
Our new lineup for formats contains a new slot: a best-of-three match in SM, ORAS, and BW UU. SM UU will be played first, and the loser will pick the next format from ORAS UU and BW UU.
Baton Pass is banned from ADV and DPP UU in this tournament.
At this point, it needs to be clarified that any team may purchase any player during the auction; even if you, as a player, refused to be retained, you will be expected to function as part of any team that buys you during the auction. If that happens to be the same team that originally wanted to retain you, it is expected of you to behave as well as you would for your dream team, and not show any signs of unsportsmanlike conduct.
