Hosts: vivalospride Twilight Indigo Plateau

Welcome to the latest edition of the Team Rater Competition! The tier this time around will be SS UU. For each round we'll post a team, and participants will have one week to complete a rate of said team. When the round is over, the participants who submitted the best rates will move onto the next round. If you are eliminated and want to receive feedback on your rate, the hosts will be more than happy to provide that upon request. Each round will last one week. Failure to rate the team within the one week time period will result in disqualification unless you're able to give us a valid reason. Please only sign up if you can commit to rating one team every week for the next month. If you're currently involved in or are looking to start rating UU teams, I highly encourage you to participate as this promises to be a great learning experience. Here's to a fun and competitive tournament!

Important notes:
  • All passing rates will count towards the Team Rater badge, and rates in the final 2 rounds will count twice as much towards the badge.
  • Each round will last one week. Failure to rate the team within the one week time period will result in disqualification unless you're able to give us a valid reason. Please only sign up if you can commit to rating one team every week for the next month.
  • If you are eliminated and would like some feedback on your rate and how you can improve going forward, feel free to ask us.
  • At the end of each round, we will announce the best rate from that round and a quick overview of what we liked in the rates submitted.

PLEASE SMOGON DM THE HOSTS YOUR RATE

The deadline for this round is Tuesday, January 19th @ 11:59 PM -8!

  • Starting with major changes, Monky replaces Amoonguss with Nidoqueen because the team lacked an Electric immunity. Nidoqueen fits the offensive playstyle of this team and acts as a new Stealth Rock setter.
  • Next, he replaces Terrakion with a Choice Scarf Tapu Bulu, which helps retain the Grass-type to check foes like Keldeo, Zeraora, etc. It provides the team with needed Speed control.
  • Minor changes wise Monky makes the Slowking 0 IVs to ensure it can get a slower Teleport off.
  • He then changes the Jirachi set to be a Wish set because Nidoqueen is the new SR setter. Thunder Wave helping improve the teams Speed control more.
  • Finally, he changes Dual Wingbeat on Salamence to Hurricane for the greater damage output against foes like Amoonguss etc.

  • Notily also acknowledges the lack of an Electric immunity so replaces Terrakion with Choice Scarf Krookodile to also compress the needed Speed control.
  • Moving onto minor changes Notily changes Salamence to a more offensive set to match the team's offensive nature and need to pressure bulky Grass-types more.
  • He also makes Slowking Psyshock to improve the SubCM Keldeo matchup and goes Stun Spore on Amoonguss to also improve the Speed control of the team.

Now then here is the team you need to rate for this round!

<Click the Sprites for the Importable>

I wanted to build a Spikes HO and naturally, Bisharp is one of the best abusers on these types of teams so I paired it with suicide lead Mew.

Latias is one the best wallbreakers in the tier and it provides a lot of defensive utility to HO teams. Standard CM 3 Attacks sets.

Scizor helps give a more solid pivot into threats like Alakazam, Kyurem, etc. It can help remove Celesteela with SD Superpower for Latias. Bug Bite for the bulky Grass-types.

I wanted an offensive Ground-type because Zeraora and Diggersby is hella underrated so I went with it here.

Toxtricity helps improve the Zeraora matchup and is a solid late-game cleaner with Shift Gear. Drain Punch is a neat way of breaking through Chansey while providing it some form of reliable recovery to pick off weakened foes.

Mew @ Red Card
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Misty Explosion
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Taunt

Bisharp @ Life Orb
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch

Latias (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Mystical Fire

Scizor @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 120 HP / 252 Atk / 136 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Bug Bite
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower

Diggersby @ Silk Scarf
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Mega Kick
- Earthquake
- Quick Attack

Toxtricity @ Life Orb
Ability: Punk Rock
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Rash Nature
- Overdrive
- Drain Punch
- Boomburst
- Shift Gear

Please also note that if you want feedback on your rate (regardless of whether you moved on or not), feel free to PM us!

haha very late on this but congratulations to Notily for winning the UU rating competition!

ok so theres a couple issues the team needs to address i think:
  • multiple members lose to common hazard removal
  • using diggersby as the ground leaves the team pretty weak to zeraora and this weakness isnt made up for in another slot
  • outside of latias the team is pretty slow
as for changes:
:mimikyu: > :scizor:
i don't really like sd scizor on spikes teams like this because of how it ends up letting in removal that bisharp still loses to even with a defiant boost. mimikyu is better as an emergency check to more stuff than scizor, and gives the team a little more defensive utility in regards to checking things like latias and keldeo.

:thundurus-therian: > :toxtricity:
toxtricity cant switch in to zeraora that well, so unless youre sacking something else to get an opportunity to set up with tox it doesnt help that much. thundurus-t gives the team an electric immunity that can prevent zera from volting on everything. it also helps with the speed issue i mentioned.

:terrakion: > :diggersby:
this team also really needs a way to punish scarf krook clicking knock off. sd terrak can abuse spikes better than diggersby due to its speed tier, and is able to overload defensive mons like skarmory and tangrowth. due to how dangerous it is, it often forces in priority users and scarfers which the rest of the team can abuse to set up.

:latias:
while the breaking power of cm is nice, i think roost is mandatory on lati due to it being the main switch in to mons like the rotom forms, slowking, and amoonguss. without a way to recover chip damage from passive mons like these, the team will start to fall apart in longer games.

importable with changes: https://pokepast.es/c0dc733c95ac8c25

Notily does a good job acknowledging that the Zeraora matchup isn't all that great so essentially compresses the Toxtricity and Diggersby into one slot being Thundurus-T. With the extra slot being freely Terrakion fits very nicely as a Knock Off abuser and improving the Speed control of the team. He recommends replacing Scizor with Bisharp, which helps give the team a safety net against most offensive threats like Latias. Finally, he changes the Latias to a Roost variant because the defensive utility it provides is imperative to handle foes like Keldeo consistently.

Well done to our runner up Monky25 and all the other raters that participated :D
