27th June Brain Teasers

Big thanks to Twilight for guest hosting this week's brain teasers, he did an amazing job! Well done to warzoid for winning this session, and Clefable for reaching the lightning round!

As usual the questions and answers are given below for those who could not make this session or missed the answers! Hope to see you all next week :)

Question 1: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, you face an eject button hippowdon. You attack first and hit it with ice beam, after which it hits you with earthquake. How did hippowdon stay in? The enemy had more than 1 pokemon in their team, and your pokemon had an item.

Your pokemon was a sheer force nidoking.

Question 2: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, a level 100 max speed max attack jolly choice scarf seedot with 31 defence IVs faces against a level 100 max attack max speed zeraora. Both pokemon only know attacking moves. At the end of turn 1, zeraora has no item. On turn 2, seedot attacks first. How did this happen? Only moves with +0 priority have been used.

Seedot’s ability is pickpocket. Zeraora is holding a custap berry. Zeraora uses knock off on seedot, making it lose it’s choice scarf, activating pickpocket allowing seedot to steal a custap berry. Seedot then uses double edge, recoil brings it below 25% health allowing it to move first turn 2. 252 Atk Zeraora Knock Off vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Seedot: 111-131 (50.2 - 59.2%) – guaranteed 2HKO 252 Atk Seedot Double-Edge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Zeraora: 84-99 (26.4 - 31.2%) – guaranteed 4HKO (12.5 - 14.7% recoil damage)

Question 3: On turn 2 of a standard UU game, a level 100 max speed max special attack timid nihilego with less than 10% HP left uses grass knot against a rocky helmet amoongus, but does not die to the recoil. How did this happen? Amoongus still had its rocky helmet at the end of turn 2.

Turn 1 red card nihilego uses role play against a long reach level 100 max attack max speed jolly choice band decidueye, who uses spirit shackle with maximum damage 99.7%, and triggers the red card being forced out into amoongus. Long reach now prevents grass knot from being a contact move.

Nihilego holding protective pads.

Turn 1 red card nihilego uses role play against a level 100 max defence max hp bold 0 spA IV reuniclus with magic guard, who uses psyshock and gets a low roll, forced out into amoongus. Magic guard now prevents rocky helmet damage.

Question 4: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, you lead with a pidgeot against an amoongus. Amoongus moves second and clicks spore, but pidgeot does not fall asleep. How did this happen? Pidgeot only knows attacking moves. Pidgeot is your only pokemon. At the start of turn 1, pidgeot is not holding an item. Pidgeot does not know fly, amoongus used spore and it did not miss.

Your pidgeot isn’t holding an item, uses thief to steal the amoongus’s safetly goggles.

Pidgeot uses a contact move such as brave bird and triggers amoongus’s effect spore getting burned/paralysed.

Question 5: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, your level 100 max speed max spattack timid life orb ribombee leads against a level 100 max speed max spattack expert belt protean kecleon, with only one move, flamethrower. This is the enemies only pokemon. On turn 2 of the same game, ribombee uses moonblast, which is neutrally effective. How did this happen? Ribombee moved first both turns, on turn 1 kecleon was not paralysed or slept, did not flinch, and was not infatuated.

Turn 1 ribombee uses powder, which makes flamethrower fail, hurt kecleon and prevents it from changing type.

2nd July Brain Teasers

Well done to Daiyaga for winning this session of brain teasers! Also well done to Twilight , MyNamesTooLong and Scizorphobic for reaching the lightning round!

This was a very tough week of questions, so I will be doing an easier session next time! The questions and answers are given below as always for those wanting to try the questions, especially the special case of an Ubers brain teaser on Question 5, as ubers pokemon have such cool abilities!

Hope to see you all again next week!

Question 1: On turn 3 of a standard UU game, a level 100 max hp max special defence silvally-steel, who only knows multi-attack, hits a level 100 max hp max speed tentacruel supereffectively. How did this happen? Tentacruel's typing was still water/poison. No dark type moves have been used.

Minimum speed - nature level 100 zeraora leads off against a level 1 prankster meowstic. meowstic uses magic room, zeraora uses plasma fists killing meowstic, enter tentacruel. Turn 2, tentacruel uses mimic, then zeraora uses volt switch switching into silvally-steel. Turn 3, magic room causes multi-attack to be a normal type move, tentacruel uses plasma fists to make it an electric type move.

Question 2: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, you lead with a level 100 max speed salazzle, the enemy leads with a level 100 minimum speed smoochum. At the end of turn 2 of the same game, your steelix is badly poisoned. How did this happen? THe enemy does not have any pokemon from the salazzle evolution line, or any imposter / transform pokemon.

Turn 1, lagging tail salazzle, red card smoochum. Smoochum uses skill swap to get corrosion, you attack and get forced out into steelix. Turn 2, smoochum skill swaps corrosion to you, and you get badly poisoned by your toxic orb.

Question 3: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, you lead a magic bounce espeon vs a cobalion, both level 100 max speed max HP with speed boosting natures . Espeon only knows psychic type moves, and knows no stat boosting / copying moves. On turn 2 of the same game, espeon killls a level 100 max speed max attack pyroar, with no dark type moves, with psychic. On turn 3 of the same game, a quick claw amoongus uses worry seed on espeon before espeon moves, and then gets killed by psychic. On turn 5 of the same game, your espeon outspeeds a level 100 max speed max attack flyinium-z crobat, and OHKOs it with zen headbutt. How did this happen? Espeon is not holding any items that would allow it to move first. Trick room is not up. Wonder room is not up. Espeon has not gained contrary, speed boost or defiant at any point in the game. Espeon has a timid nature, and 4 attack EVs. Instruct has not been used.

Turn 1, espeon uses skill swap to get justified, cobalion hits it with hidden power dark to give it +1 attack, triggering espeon's red card bringing it out into scarf pyroar. Turn 2, pyroar uses entrainment to give espeon moxie, pyroar has a -spdef nature and 0 spdef ivs, so gets killed by psychic, espeon is now +2 attack. Turn 3, amoongus clears ability from espeon. Turn 4, quick claw stakataka, level 1, uses skill swap to give espeon beast boost, espeon kills it with psychic, gets a speed boost. It's now +2 attack +1 speed, and can OHKO crobat. +2 4- Atk Espeon Zen Headbutt vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Crobat: 264-312 (84.8 - 100.3%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO

Question 4: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, your enemy leads with a level 100 max speed leftovers lilligant, you lead with a pokemon ranked UU by usage, level 100 with max speed also, both speed boosting natures. On turn 2 of the same game, your pancham kills lilligant with close combat. On turn 3, the enemy brings out an effect spore amoongus. On turn 4, your mega-altaria attacks the amoongus with facade, and gets burned by amoongus's ability. How did this happen?

You lead a lagging tail flame body moltres, lilliigant used role play, you used u-turn and swapped into pancham. turn 2 Lilligant used entrainment to give pancham flame body, you attacked and killed. turn 3, pancham uses entrainment on amoongus giving it flame body, amoongus uses giga drain, triggers your eject button and forces altaria out. Turn 4 you attack and get burned by flame body.

Question 5: In this question, the two players were taking part in a special UU tournament, where they are each allowed one pokemon from ubers, and therefore the games have been played in Gen7Ubers format. Normal UU clauses still apply however, eg. no baton pass. The two players had a different ubers pokemon. On turn 2, you move first and use heat wave with a pidgeot-mega, but it fails to do any damage. The enemies pokemon does not know protect/detect, was not in a state of invulnerability, and did not have a substitute up. It also was not holding a focus band or sash.
On turn 3, the enemy swaps into their mold breaker scarf haxorus while you roost. On turn 4, the haxorus uses hidden power fire, which does no damage. Pidgeot mega's only moves are hurricane heatwave and roost, after which pidgeot kills it with hurricane. On turn 5, the enemy brings out their life orb deoxys-attack, which moves first, after which pidgeot kills deoxys-attack. On turn 6, volcanion kills pidgeot with a specs fire blast. How did this happen? No pokemon have cloud nine as an ability.

On turn 1, you lead a primal kyogre, the enemy lead a lilligant with eject button which role played primordial sea from kyogre, and was faster. Kyogre attacked and was forced out into pidgeot. On turn 2 Lilligant was protected by primordial sea from heat wave, and then used entrainment to pass it to pidgeot. On turn 4, pidgeot was proteted from hidden power fire by primordial sea, as mold breaker doesn't break it. On turn 5, deoxys-attack uses skill swap to give pressure to pidgeot instead, and when it dies the heavy rain stops. This allows volcanion to use fire blast on turn 6.

Question 6: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, you lead with a level 100 max speed levitate flygon. For the first 2 turns you are slower. Your flygon knows 2 attacking moves, earthquake and dragon claw. Flygon kills it's opponent on turn 2. On turn 3, the opponent brings out a level 100 scizor. On turn 4, flygon uses a non attacking move, and kills a level 1 air-balloon florges. On turn 5, flygon again uses a non attacking move, and damages a decidueye, who only knows grass type moves. How did this happen?

Turn 1, flygon leads against normalize delcatty. Delcatty uses rest, fails, flygon uses mimic. Turn 2, delcatty skill swaps you normalize, and you use z-dragon claw (as dragon claw won't kill otherwise). Turn 3, scizor was scarf, uses u-turn bringing out florges, you use rest. You now use sleep talk to call a normalized earthquake/dragon claw to kill florges on turn 4. On turn 5, scarf decidueye uses worry seed to make your ability insomnia, allowing your florges to call a non normal type move with sleep talk.

Reminder that brain teasers will be today, at 2pm GMT-4 (in about 3 and a half hours). This will be an easier session, owing to the increased difficulty over the previous weeks, so make sure to come along! To make up for the easier questions, there will be 7 of them this week, so a lot of points to play for!

8th July Brain Teasers

Congratulations to Galactiknight for winning this session of brain teasers! Also well done to faded love for reaching the lightning round. Well done to everyone else who took part, and hope you all come again next week!

As usual, questions and answers are given below!

Question 1: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, your level 100 max speed jolly pokemon knowing one move, which was neither electric or bug type , lead against the enemies level 100 max speed jolly pokemon. The enemy only has one pokemon. On both turns 1 and turn 2, your leading pokemon stays in, but at the end of turn 2, you now have a different pokemon on the field. How did this happen, and what were the two leading pokemon? The enemy pokemon does not know any phazing (eg. roar) moves, and did not call them by any other means.

Your pokemon was a scrappy pancham with parting shot as it's move, enemy pokemon was a carbink with clear body. Clear body blocks parting shot turn 1, but turn 2 carbink skill swapped first to rid itself of clear body.

Question 2: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, both players have only one pokemon, and you lead with a choice scarf infernape, against a steel type pokemon. You attack with close combat, reducing it to 1 HP. The enemy pokemon is still alive on turn 9, at which point infernape is forced to struggle, and you eventually win. How did this happen? The enemy did not know protect/detect.

Enemies pokemon was a level 1 sturdy magnemite holding berry juice. Close combat triggered stury, berry juice healed to full, after which it used recycle to get its berry juice back. This continues until infernape runs out of PP, and struggle eventually kills it.

Question 3: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, both players only have one pokemon, and your level 100 max HP max Spdef normal type pokemon leads against a level 100 max speed max attack jolly zeraora. On turn 1, zeraora uses echoed voice, dealing less than 25% damage to you. At the end of turn 2, you are back to full HP again. How did this happen? Your pokemon does not know any moves that could heal you, or any moves that could call a move that could heal you (eg. metronome).

Your lead was a smeargle, the zeraora was holding a lagging tail. On turn 1, you use skill swap to get volt absorb. On turn 2, you use plasma fists, while zeraora uses echoed voice again healing you.

Question 4: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, your max attack max speed adamant choice band scizor uses u-turn, but does not swap out. How did this happen? The enemy pokemon knows only attacking moves, and is holding a lagging tail. You have 6 pokemon in your team.

Enemy pokemon was a wimpod with wimp out, or golispod with emergency exit (Ev'd to take 50+% from u-turn).

Question 5: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, you lead with an aerodactyl, holding it's appropriate mega stone. You use hone claws, while the enemy swaps into a Shuca berry level 100 max attack max speed jolly terrakion. On turn 2, you use earthquake, and OHKO terrakion. How did this happen? Earthquake did not crit. Your aerodactyl was max speed and level 100 also, so outsped terrakion.

+1 252 Atk Aerodactyl-Mega Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Shuca Berry Terrakion: 183-216 (56.6 - 66.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Aerodactyl with unnerve stayed unmega'd. +1 252 Atk Aerodactyl Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Terrakion: 306-362 (94.7 - 112%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO

Question 6: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, you swap your leftovers hippowdon into a volt switch from a choice scarf pokemon, blocking it. On turn 2, the enemy pokemon stays in, while you earthquake and miss. How did this happen?

Enemy pokemon was a sand veil heliolisk.

Question 7: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, the enemy leads with a level 100 max speed timid voltorb, who only knows volt switch, against your minimum speed level 100 leftovers claydol. On turn 1, voltorb uses volt switch, which claydol blocks. On turn 2, voltorb stays in again and volt switches out into scizor, while claydol stayed in. How did this happen?

Voltorb was holding a ring target, claydol used trick on turn 1.

18th July Brain Teasers

Congratulations to Haribo for winning this session of brain teasers! Also well done to Daiyaga for reaching the lightning round! The questions and answers are below as usual.

Question 1: On turn 1 the enemy (with 6 pokemon) leads off with a Gengar. The gengar stays in and uses willo-wisp on turns 1 to 3. On turn 3, you use block against it. On turn 4 it tries to swap out but fails, and instead has to click a move. On turn 5, it tries to swap out again and this time succeeds. You only have one pokemon on your team. How did this happen?

You lead a smeargle, used reflect type to become ghost/poison. Turn 2, you used soak to turn gengar into a water type pokemon. On turn 3, you used block, trapping it since its now a water type. On turn 4, gengar used reflect type to regain itis ghost/poison typing. On turn 5 it could now swap.

Question 2: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, you lead with a leftovers metang, whose only move is meteor mash. You have no other pokemon. At the end of turn 1, you are not statused. On turn 2, amoongus uses spore against you, but you do not fall asleep. How did this happen? Skill swap has not been used. Trick has not been used. No terrains are up.

Turn 1 they led a trevanant with eject button, used forests curse to make you part grass typing, metang used meteor mash and forced trevanant out into amoongus. Spore now fails.

Turn 1 they led a leavanny, used entrainment to give you overcoat, eject button again.

Question 3: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, you lead a weedle with no speed investment vs the opponents eject button uxie. Uxie sets up trick room, you attack with poison sting and force it out into a red card venonat with no speed investment. On turn 4, your mega-aerodactyl's speed is not lowered by a pikachu's electroweb. How did this happen? Electroweb connected and did damage. All pokemon have no investment in their speed, and no speed effecting natures. All pokemon are level 100.

On turn 2, venonat moves first and uses skill swap to obtain shield dust, weeedle attacks with poison sting triggering venonat's red card forcing it out into aerodactyl. Venonat then gives shield dust to the mega aerodactyl, which then kills it with stone edge. On turn 4, electroweb's secondary effect is now ignored by shield dust.

Question 4: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, you lead with a smeargle knowing mind blown. On turn 2, you use mind blown against a damp kingdra, and do damage. How did this happen?

Turn 1 enemy led off with a mold breaker eject button max speed pangoro knowing entrainment, smeargle was minimum speed and attacked after forcing it out. Mind blown now ignores damp due to mold breaker.

Question 5: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, you lead off with a level 100 max attack max speed adamant krookodile knowing only a dark type move, against a level 100 hasty nature lucario with 31 defence IVs, with minimum speed. At the end of turn 1, lucario is dead. How did this happen? Lucario knows no moves with any recoil damage. Krookodile did not use a z-move. Krookodile is your only pokemon.

Lucario attacked first with a life orb vacuum wave, krookodile was banded and used assurance which was then powered up to 120 base power.

252+ Atk Choice Band Krookodile Assurance vs. 0 HP / 0- Def Lucario: 224-264 (79.7 - 93.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

Weakness policy activates on vacuum wave, knock off / power trip

+2 252+ Atk Krookodile Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0- Def Lucario: 241-284 (85.7 - 101%) -- 25% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Well done to Galactiknight for winning this session of brain teasers! Also well done to MrSuperKoopa for reaching the lightning round! Questions and answers are below as usual.

Question 1: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, you lead with a scizor. On turn 2, the enemy swaps into a mimikyu, with it's disguise still intact, and dies to scizor's steel-type attack. How did this happen? Scizor does not know any multi-hit moves, and did not mimic them.

Answer: Turn 1, mold breaker pangoro entrainment's scizor to give it mold breaker.
Answer: Turn 1, smeargle uses sunsteel strike, scizor mimics it and uses it turn 2.

Question 2: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, you lead with a mega-beedrill with 4 attacking moves. This is your only pokemon. At the end of turn 2, you have +2 speed. How did this happen?

Answer: Opposing smeargle uses agility turn 1, heart swap turn 2.
Answer: Agility raichu uses agility turn 1, speed swap on turn 2.

Question 3: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, you lead with a max speed max attack jolly leftovers level 100 flygon, who is your only pokemon, and has 4 attacking moves. On turn 6, you use iron tail, and outsped a level 100 max speed max special attack timid leftovers latias, and kill it, without getting a critical hit. How did this happen? Every enemy pokemon also only knows attacking moves. Flygon does not know any moves that can increase it's stats.

Answer: You used bug bite on turns 1-5, eating one salac berry and 4 liechi berries. +4 252 Atk Flygon Iron Tail vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Latias: 297-350 (98.6 - 116.2%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO

Question 4: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, you lead with a leftovers starmie. The enemy uses block against you, but it fails. On turn 2, the enemy uses block against you again, and it works. On turn 4, you swap out into a different pokemon. How did this happen? Starmie does not know mimic. The enemy only has one pokemon.

Answer: Turn 1 you lead against a hoopa. You used reflect type to become a ghost/psychic type, causing block to fail. Turn 2, you used camoflauge to become a normal type, causing it to work. On turn 3, hoopa used trick to give you it's shed shell, allowing you to swap on turn 4.

Question 5: In a standard UU game, a VinCune has used calm mind 3 times, and then attacks your eject button pokemon with scald, forcing it out into a Xatu. Three turns later, your Xatu OHKOs the suicune from full HP, how did this happen? The suicune is level 100 and a standard vincune set (252 hp 40 spdef 216 speed timid), and your xatu has 252 SpA modest and is level 100, and is holding leftovers. Xatu and suicune stayed in over the 3 turns.

Answer: The first turn, your xatu uses power swap to become +3 SpA. The next turn, it used guard swap to become +3 SpDef, and reducing the suicune to +0 SpDef. Turn 3, you used stored power. +3 252+ SpA Xatu Stored Power (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 40 SpD Suicune: 432-508 (106.9 - 125.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

1st August Brain Teasers

Congratulations to pokeisfun for winning this session of brain teasers! Also well done to HigherPlaces and Clefable for reaching the lightning round. The questions and answers are below as usual, for this unusual weather themed fairly easy session! Make sure to come along next week :)

For all questions this week, drizzle and drought will be treated as unbanned, as per suspect test.

Question 1: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, a slower hacked drought ninetales with taunt leads off against a faster drizzle politoed. Ninetales moves first and uses taunt, while politoed is not holding a mental herb. At the end of turn 1, rain is up. How did this happen?

Answer: Politoed used z-rain dance.

Question 2: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, you lead with a drought ninetales. At the end of turn 2, your venusaur has +1 attack and +2 special attack. How did this happen? No enemy pokemon have intimidate as an ability. The enemy used an attack on turn 1 and did not trigger any stat drops, and used a dark type move on turn 2.

Answer: Enemy lead with a silvally which killed your ninetales after sun went up. Turn 2 you use z-growth to get +2 attack +3 special attack, silvally uses parting shot.

Question 3: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, a level 100 timid max speed max special attack choice specs drought ninetales clicks solar beam against a level 100 max speed max attack jolly choice scarf krookodile. When the solar beam hits krookodile, krookodile survives this however. How did this happen? Krookodile took damage, and did not use endure or substitute. Krookodile did not swap out, or use knock off.

Answer: Krookodile used sandstorm, halving the damage and causing it to hit on turn 2. 252 SpA Choice Specs Ninetales Solar Beam (60 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Krookodile in Sand: 192-226 (58 - 68.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Question 4: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, your ninetales sets drought, and swaps into your red card umbreon. On turn 2, umbreon is damaged to 40% of it's HP, and the enemy is forced out into their scarf infernape, with a level and attack stat that would cause it to do 99% minimum with close combat. On turn 3, infernape uses close combat, and umbreon survives. How did this happen? Umbreon does not know protect, detect, substitute or endure, and is holding a darkinium Z.

Answer: Turn 2 umbreon used moonlight after the enemy attacked, returning to full HP due to sunshine.

Question 5: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, your level 100 max special attack max speed timid life orb drought ninetales, with no set up moves, leads. On turn 2, it attacks a level 100 max hp max special defence careful mega aggron who was mega evolved, with overheat, which it survives. How did this happen? The weather was not changed. Ninetales did not lose it's item. Ninetales did not have its stats changed. Mega aggron took damage, and did not use endure, substitute or any such moves. 252 SpA Life Orb Ninetales Overheat vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Filter Aggron-Mega in Sun: 380-446 (110.4 - 129.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Answer: Turn 1 you lead against a cloud nine lickilikky, ninetales used role play, lickilikky exploded. 252 SpA Life Orb Ninetales Overheat vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Filter Aggron-Mega: 252-298 (73.2 - 86.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Congratulations to Juuno for winning this session of Brain Teasers! Also well done to HigherPlaces and MrSuperKoopa for reaching the lightning round! The questions and answers are below as always. Make sure to come again next week :)

Question 1: At the end of turn 1 of a standard UU game, your assault vest pokemon knowing only return is at -2 attack and -2 special attack. How did this happen? Memento was not used.

Answer: Pokemon has simple as an ability, enemy used parting shot.

Well done to pokeisfun for winning this session of Brain teasers! Also well done to Juuno and Clefable for reaching the lightning round! Make sure to come again next week :) Questions are below as always, credit to Juuno for helping write Questions 2 and 4!

Question 1: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, the enemy leads with their only pokemon, a level 100 max speed max special attack timid starmie. On turn 3 of the same game, you bring out your leftovers Gardevoir, knowing only calm mind and stored power. On turn 4, you OHKO with stored power. How did this happen? Starmie did not have it's type changed, gardevoir did not have it's item changed. Starmie missed it's hydro pump on turn 1. Starmie did not have it's stats changed.

Turn 1 beeheym with eject button uses psychic terrain, turn 2 beeheym uses simple beam, lagging tail starmie attacks forcing you out into gardevoir. Gardevoir traces simple turn 3, uses calm mind to get +2 spA, spD. Turn 4, +2 252 SpA Gardevoir Stored Power (100 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Starmie in Psychic Terrain: 271-320 (103.8 - 122.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO.

Turn 1, mold breaker pangoro entrainmented' scizor, so that flash cannon ignored the eject button on turn 2.

Question 4: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, a politoed sets up rain with drizzle, and swaps into their kingdra, while your slower pokemon swaps into a trace gardevoir, who copies swift swim. On turn 2, your gardevoir wins the speed tie and OHKOs kingdra. On turn 3, you skill swap swift swim to a mega-aerodactyl, who then kills you. On turn 4, you bring out a new pokemon who outspeeds aerodactyl and kills it. What new pokemon did you bring out to make this happen, and what was it's item? The new pokemon did not have drought or sand stream as an ability.

You brought out a scarf ditto.
You brought out a scarf cloud nine golduck.

Question 5: On turn 1 of a standard UU game, your pokemon (knowing only substitute and psychic type moves) sets up a substitute, while the enemy swaps into their infiltrator crobat. On turn 2, the crobat uses brave bird, but does not bypass the substitute. How did this happen?

Your pokemon was a kadabra who was faster, who skill swapped the crobat on turn 2.

Question 6: On turn 2 of a standard UU game, your magnet pull magneton is facing the enemies Gengar. The gengar tries to swap, but can't. How did this happen?
On turn 1, gengar used reflect type against the magneton getting itself trapped.

Unofficial Impromptu Brain Teasers

Well done to Haribo for winning the first and likely only unofficial impromptu brain teasers session, and medium rare to Mygrein and Estarossa for making the lightning round! As always, the questions are below.

You have a Cursed 1% Scizor out versus a faster Imprison Roost Rest Kyurem. The Kyurem outspeeds you and uses Imprison as you choose a move. Despite this, at the end of the turn after this one, before Curse damage kicks in, your Scizor is at 100% HP. How is this possible?

Something involving Morning Sun in the sunlight, and maybe the Kyurem was also Leech Seeded and/or you received a wish pass
