this might be the last big tour featuring usm ubers so i wanna talk a little bit about the durians' take on the meta. for the most part, the teams i built werent super creative mons wise. we used the same pdon+arc+duskmane core almost like every game but the creativity came from the sets / finishing mons and how they worked together. i mostly prepped tdk's sm teams with a lot of help from pg, catalystic, and the other durians.

w1 vs hack:

we didnt really prep super hard for this but figured hack would use something bulky so i recommended using this team which has taunt tox yvel / bu marsh / sd pdon / sd lion, all mons that do pretty well at breaking. this isnt really a new combination of mons and has been used a bunch before but its something pearl used in his slam win. all of myself, pearl, zesty, cynara, and pohjis contributed to making this team and the idea came from abusing how common fairyceus was. we started with toxic yvel which forces in fairy types so marsh can sweep later on. rest of the team is pretty standard and i guess the most interesting part is the tr wp lion which is just here cus pearl loved it. tr over auto cus the bulk was very very appreciated considering we didnt have morning sun.

w2 vs evuelf:

ok we didnt do anything this week and this squad got 6-0d by dd zyg. tdk got 2-0d as well. terrible team but cool concept in double primal + spikes + abusers like cm flyceus and zyg. overall, this team was trying to do too much at once.

w3 vs leru:

again prep was lazy this week (a common trend by now) and we wanted to use darkceus as it looked pretty good vs leru. zesty made this team for pearl to use vs i forget who in slam. maybe pohjis? but yeah, it ended up winning so.

w4 vs lasen:

ok this is where we got serious considering our position so far. we didnt have much to go on for lasen since he didnt have many public usm games but we knew we wanted to cover our own marsh weakness from past weeks and use cm lunala cus hes fire. pg made these 6 with lunala over gar but i made the change of mgar since it gave us more speed and in general was very threatening with 4 attacks.

w5 vs elodin:

literally no prep here. just "its time to ho" and tdk was down.

tiebreak vs poek:

ok so we really really wanted first seed so we took the tiebreak very seriously. at this point, i realized a couple things: fast primals are broken as hell and not much is being done to check them. also, the lunalas tend to cheese a lot so we wanted to be really good vs ho, webs, bulky stuff. i made a couple teams with this in mind:

tdk's favorite (and mine) was the double offensive primal since you're pretty much picking a ko vs anything slower and simplifying the game. it worked out really well as both ogre and don carried hard.

finals vs poek:

after losing to fast primals, i absolutely knew they would bring ho. was unsure of webs or just a normal team but either way, gira is fantastic vs it. being able to soft check rp don, remove hazards safely, soft check most arc forms, etc etc. this team was already prepped during the tiebreak so it was just a matter of filling in sets. i actually started with the core of yvel + gira and yvel was taunt tox to mess with bulky stuff. then, the question was spdef lion + offensive pdon or the other way around. eruptdon was waaaay more broken at this point and we already hated xern between gira yvel so the choice was clear. having defog on gira freed up our arc slot so we went with cm groundceus which also messes with offense and took advantage of poeks low hooh usage. in general, i dig this team a lot since it can be very flexible in terms of sets. arc can have sr which frees up pdon. or gira can be replaced completely (say for hooh )and it becomes leru's team that he used many times in snake and in other tours.

some other teams i made that werent used are: https://pokepast.es/a6a7f949d5452005

dont think i used that many interesting sets but byron pdon (+speed eruption pdon) is SO good. ill let byron post his set if he wants to but we've been using sr + erupt pblades ice or edge and pg had solarbeam on his version for waterceus. another cool set is something cata came up with for mence: double edge, facade, toxic, roost which messes hard with bulky teams. its just a different take on omfuga's mence set from sm but with another attack over defog since we appreciate the breaking help with another defogger on the team.

byron definitely used more creative and heat things but i think in terms of teams and prep, we were ahead of a lot of the others which led to a bunch of good match ups and wins. im pretty happy with our sm record and with the state of usm ubers. i really really hope it remains in snake and hope gen8 ubers is in spl.

looking forward to what others have come up with

ps: wish zesty would stop quitting :(

I had a great season with the Jubliant Jirachis, thank you to Level 56 and Astounded for trusting me to perform and special shoutouts to Pearl for always contributing with the usm guys (and nitpicking my teams :P) as well as the rest of the guys on the team.

https://pokepast.es/12b0d54864c17abe week 1 vs Megazard
Solid team all around based on the yveltal and double ghost core which was good vs the double primals

https://pokepast.es/e9c2b4ecce696970 week 2 vs Paycard
I really wanted to use TR Dusk Mane as it was a great potent sweeper so here it is

https://pokepast.es/f0ec97b7f403a17f week 3&4 vs Jase and Byron
I was comfortable with this team because it was pretty brainless and it was good vs the opposing hos

https://pokepast.es/c6ade95a5811cccb week 5 vs Terracotta
This was a team that was previously used by pearl in week 3 and decided it would be good vs terra's creative teambuilding.

https://pokepast.es/8a4cd97c90564046 Semis vs Aishia
This was actually a edit of the team i used last upl and made some edits to it. Specs Yveltal was a mon i wanted to use because of its ridiculous wall breaking capabilities

lets hope ubers gets into snake :D

Going to be a short one since I want to get it posted before going to bed, but I'll try to keep it informative enough regardless. Shout outs to the Jirachies for the fun season, glad I got the chance to play this beautiful tier alongside you absolute beasts. Heads up to the Durians as well for letting me into the memes after my team got eliminated.

Used this vs Chill Shadow in semifinals and it won in a dominant fashion. 6-0d by Lunala and Gengar can get pretty troublesome as well. It also doesn't really have much of a stall match up to speak of, but the rest of the metagame is fairly well covered between these 6. Mega Latias is the Groudon answer, and having a Pokemon like that to fall back onto allows you to kind of just stack a bunch of things that don't like facing it. In this case, SR Arc-Water, Scarf Xerneas and Dusk Mane pull that off. Xern' also lets me Aromatherapy things that have been caught by stray Toxics. Choice Band Ho-Oh and RP PDon are this team's primary hard hitters, and they kinda just work as a standard offensive formation that plays by the "x chips y for z to win" rule. Slow Ho-Oh is used in order to improve the Marshadow MU a little bit, while also being able to do some mean things if Dusk Mane ever sets up Trick Room and gets forced out after.

Was going to whip this out vs. Evuelf back in Week 5, but SM didn't get played unfortunately. Cloyster can be a Greninja or any other Pokemon that gets Toxic Spikes honestly, but I felt that Cloyster was going to be the best for that particular game (don't ask me, just a gut feeling). Anyway, this is structured like a Hyper Offense but it actually has a bunch of fat ass Pokemon that can play a slower game if required, so don't ask me to make this Yveltal Life Orb or whatever other suggestion you might have that kills the team's identity. Kangaskhan is a Pokemon I'm a big fan of personally, and I feel that this set (or Sucker Punch > Rock Tomb on less Ho-Oh weak teams) is the closest you'll get to making it viable in this tier, as it no longer hits like a cargo truck. Lures Marshadow for Dusk Mane, kind of. CM Arceus Fairy is a menace that only Dusk Mane can dream of stopping, so there it is. Rest of the team is fairly standard, though Overheat on Groudon isn't entirely out of question.

Used this vs Serial EKiller back in Week 3. Fairly standard build as far as Toxapex stuff goes, and most of these 'mons don't really require any sort of introduction. Toxapex lets me get away with some stuff that would be sketchy on basically any other team (a.k.a. Hex Mega Gengar and Ultra Necrozma without a secondary Steel-type), which is pretty nifty in its own way. Dark Pulse on Yveltal is used for the swift nab on Mega Gengar and hopefully flinching my way past Mega Sableye if I ever have to play that with this build. Beware of Ho-Oh, as that MU requires ultra bursting earlier than one would often like to. Thunder Mega Gengar also helps softening that up a little if required.

Cursed team for reasons most of you are aware of by now. I was hit up at the start of the week by a bunch of teammates telling me how good Mega Gyarados was in the match up vs w/e player Lasen was facing in semifinals, and while I was reluctant on it at first, I decided to toy around with the prospect of a team with it. At first, my opinion was that the more offensive a Mega Gyarados team looked like, the better it would be in practice, which is a philosophy that can be noticed pretty easily by the fact that basically every single Pokemon on this team is an absolute menace on its own. Arceus-Poison a.k.a. The Zesty is a menace and I'm glad I stumbled upon this Pokemon and managed to fit it onto a team; being a slow win condition that doesn't give a flying fuck about Toxic is a blessing, and it can even throw Sludge Bombs at things to automatically handicap them for the rest of the game (or until Aromatherapy/Heal Bell get clicked). Thunder Xerneas is for Primal Kyogre and Ho-Oh, Outrage on Ultra Necrozma allows it to get a swift kill in basically every single game, which cleans up the path for a Mega Gyarados win in a ton of games and non Defog Giratina-Origin is honestly so much harder to switch into that it's not even funny. The team can already absorb Toxic Spikes, and the debate between leaving a move out of the set or running a Shadow Ball set was making me sad because I knew I'd end up losing to either Arceus-Ground or Dusk Mane in the end, so I just went with that (Lasen disagreed and made it worse, but I don't think it mattered much), with Xerneas already being able to get them off against Webs and most Spikes oriented builds.

Probably one of the most metagame shaping teams that Garay and I cooked up. Roar Arceus-Ground + a strong hazard core is absurdly good (though the reason Arceus has that is because we didn't want to lose to opposing GeoXern with a team that is supposed to abuse the fact that people disrespect that Pocket Monster), and the team had a lot of pretty solid showings throughout the tournament. GeoXern + Ultra Necrozma murks basically everything with hazards up, Ferrothorn + Groudon get them up and Yveltal + Arceus-Ground form a pseudo defensive core that can also pressure things under the right circumstances.

Besides these, there are a couple of teams that were either more influeced by Garay than me (that I no longer have access to unfortunately) and others that were just edits of older stuff by either Garay or Skysolo (which he posted above, for the most part), who I got to chat with a lot about USM teams throughout the season. Massive shout out to Cynara for helping out with EVs and move slots for most of these. Always nice to have somebody who is just as paranoid as I am about details to bounce ideas with, even if it doesn't necessarily please some of our fellow competitors.

BONUS: DPP UBERS

In my quest to find out some Pokemon I could use to disrespect the hell out of Highlord one more time, I decided to pull off my good ol' trusted Primeape. Probably one of the most solid answers to standard Darkrai, while 317 Speed + access to U-turn and Ice Punch allows it to stay fairly relevant outside of that, with very few teams being ready to take that on after their Giratina has taken chip damage early on in the game. Specially Defensive Haze Quagsire beats basically every Kyogre that doesn't have Roar, Tyranitar is Tyranitar and beats so many leads it's unfair, Jirachi + Skarmory aid the team by making sure it lasts longer than the opponent's and Giratina doesn't really need any explanation as far as a team has Spikes.

Yes, I know this doesn't have EVs, but I never bothered finishing it since I barely received any attention when I pasted this in my team chat.

Imagine using a base 85 Speed Choice Scarf Pokemon in DPP Ubers

Really enjoyed another season with the durians. I finally got to play some current gen in a upl, and although I missed a few weeks due to subs etc I am happy with how I prepped and played. This is the first time I've really played BO1 ubers, and as I learned it is very different from BO3 ubers, where you can bring something standard game 1 and try to feel out your opponents playstyle. Bearing this in mind, I tried to bring something novel every week, particularly in my movesets, to try to gain momentum from the get go with uncommon techs. Shoutouts to Catalystic PurpleGatorade Pigeons Cam for helping me with tests every week and TDK for saving my ass with hp evs on groundceus in finals.

I'll post my teams for each week and thoughts on the games, and then a few extra sets and teams that didn't see the battlefield.

https://pokepast.es/06c013aefa0e98cc
Looking at Royal's replays and my past games vs him, I noticed he was not big on ghost types, I didn't see a single gira-o or sableye, and his marsh usage wasn't super high either. I decided to build around ekiller, and I opted for z move to try and nab some kills on zygardes and defensive yveltals. Ferrothorn was an obvious partner to lay spikes. The rest of the team is fairly standard, with my two staples scarf xern and coil two attacks zygarde, and helmet on yveltal for mence, ekiller, marsh, necrozma insurance.
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7ubers-434500
The toxic miss turn 1 was unfortunate for royal since it allowed me to call his switch and get damage on groudon, leaving the path clear for scarf xern in the end game. Spiking up with ferro on mence looked a bit greedy, but I knew I had helmet max hp yveltal and ekiller in the back, which was easily revenging mence, and the spikes made arceus' job of breaking royal's team very easy. Ferrothorn wins another game.

I was excited to play goat heart, who had a fantastic tour, but unfortunately his real life stuff got in the way.
https://pokepast.es/31ca873b3fc66db2
This is what I was working on before the game got called off.
I was expecting another hyw-esque sableye-less stall, so I went for taunt mmx. This was probably one of my less polished builds, but I think it would have given an interesting match.

hey man sorry i went to a party last night and got all my stuff stolen so i spent the whole night trying to get it back im hungover and havnt slept and just got home

Fellow durian solo had established himself as a strong player, and had brought a variety of stuff so far in UPL, so I was brainstorming for an anti-meta breaker that I could use. Solo's week 3 game where he used dialga offense gave me the idea of max speed eruption don, and it turned out to work perfectly vs that same dialga lead. Rather than stealth rock or rock tomb which are usually seen on eruption don, I wanted something that focused on killing all of its checks. Stone edge has a good chance to ohko most ho-ohs, while tomb doesnt come close, so with pblades, eruption, hp ice, stone edge, the only real balance/offense check pdon has is arceus water. Enter the second team member, perish trap gengar. Although using this set's a bit of a gamble, as offensive gar has a much easier job finishing things off, if I play it right, this gengar should get a perish trap kill and also a dbond kill most games vs bulky offense/balance. Zygarde, scarf xern, darkceus = standard defensive backbone. This left me in need of a xern check, rocker and ground resist with my last slot, so I picked up bronzong. I went for psywave over gyro ball so I'm not just stealth rocks vs a xernless team. If a hp less dusk mane wants to switch in and set up, its taking up to 44% from a psywave with no recovery.
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7ubers-437721
Got a great matchup with pdon from the get go, and tried to convert it into a sure thing. I left myself open to a double toxic miss or an ekiller crit, but I think I did pretty much all I could to lock in the win.

Another durians pal who had really done well since his upl debut, I didn't really know what to expect from alkione, so I went for another bulky offense team with a few surprises. This was probably my favourite team from the regular season. Although it didn't get revealed, I had 'byron pdon' again - naive 4 attacks with stone edge. This time I went for arceus fairy for rocks, not something I would have considered without purple gatorade using this mon constantly. I only added in the spA evs once the team was complete, to hit stuff like the primals, supportceus, duskmane harder and keep up my offensive momentum. Again gengar was used to trap supportceus and revenge stuff like ultra with its speed tier, but I opted for an offensive thunder set this time, à la Pohjis, with hp ice as a fourth, for zygarde and to ohko mence from full. Ultra is my 'xern check', zygarde is the obligatory glue that keeps all my teams together, and scarf ho-oh is my defogger and secondary revenger.
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7ubers-902500663
Definitely my closest game of the whole season, I sent out gengar turn 1 without thinking and sacked it. After I sacked a few things to kill dd zygarde, I was forced to go for the burn 50/50 against dusk mane, even though it was likely weakness policy with z zygarde. Fortunately I got it, and while I don't think I was completely lost if it didn't burn, as ho-oh can live a +4 sunsteel from full, I would have had to play perfectly to even have a shot. The game was still on a knife's edge though, and I had swith dusk mane into blazekin twice and scare it out with the threat of ultra. My spA evs in fairyceus came in clutch by 2hkoing groudon (crit didn't matter) and surviving the poison damage. Come end game, I was very happy with how accurately I played without running too low on my timer. Although the burn was unfortunate for alkione, I think it made the game much more exciting by letting me hang on vs his streamroll offense. Overall, I think we both clicked buttons pretty damn well this game aside from my turn 1 blunder.

https://pokepast.es/fa03b82deb7243bf
Finals time. From CS's past games, it looked like someone was feeding him solid BO/Balances and he was piloting them aggressively. I'd used eruption don twice now (although I didn't reveal in week 5, it can probably be inferred from rocks fairy and damage rolls), so I thought waterceus was a strong chance. A don set I'd been toying with in building was max spA overheat/precip/rock tomb/sr or sd with creep for all the 250+ speed ogres and pdons. This set is pretty ridiculous at killing supportceus, defensive yveltal and most things in the tier. If standard offensive mence switches into rock tomb, it dies to overheat next turn. To help out vs waterceus, i added pex for tspikes and toxic spam. This also stops support groundy from living tomb + overheat, since it dies to tomb+tspike damage+overheat. Something else I had until a few minutes before my game was cm thunder lunala to kill all the support yveltals, and to kill CS's pet scarf yveltal on the switch after rocks. I switched it up to focus blast though, since lunala needs a way to beat darkceus and I'm not willing to drop ice beam when zygarde is the best mon in the tier. Scarf xern - staple on any team. Ho-oh is my defogger, check to pretty much everything and dd zygarde answer equipped with whirlwind. I think I saw this set on a hyw or goat heart team, and I really liked it despite the lack of recovery. Finally, cm groundceus is my wincon vs non-ho-oh teams (need to rely on lunala and groudon vs ho-oh teams). Thankfully, tdk convinced me to run max hp instead of the ag players' 252spA set, which ended up saving me vs band yveltal. The wacan pex and the 84 spD evs on don are geoxern insurance (lives +2 focus from full). This is another team that I was super happy with. Usually I can't get lunala to work, but I think it does pretty well here, but I unfortunately didn't get to showcase it in my game.
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen7ubers-443431
In my opinion, this was easily my best game of the season, perhaps one of my best games ever. Mewtwo was troublesome from the start, and magearna puts a stop to a lot of my toxic stalling. The band yveltal was also threatening if groundy ever got weakened by mewtwo, which it did at one point and I was forced to sack lunala. CS was able to play very aggressively early as expected, while I had to play a reactionary style until I had scouted his yveltal and mewtwo set. Eventually though, I started to get a few doubles and plays off. My real wincon was getting either tspikes down for mewtwo or hitting it with a toxic and then preventing heal bell. I was able to eventually punish CS's doubles and luckily got the burn onto mag as well with my ho-oh's sacred fire, and from there, my poison spam and defensive core of pex, ho-oh, groundy was able to weather the storm and come out on top convincingly.

Closing thoughts
We finally had a pretty clean ubers tour and I thought there was a lot of great building and games in usm. I've finally come to really like this tier, certainly moreso than sm ubers. This tour was the most fun I've had in a team tour and it isn't very close either. The ubers community can be a bit gated sometimes, but I love it to bits. Hopefully we can continue to show that we have reformed, and who knows, maybe we will get back into officials one day.

Made a quick summery of the teams I used this UPL

All teams have a similar structure when i gave the mons roles. Seems like I used p balanced teams every week.
Some interesting points:
Genesect is S+ in viablity. Only time I did not use it was b/c Lilligant is p cool, had to add an additional fast answer in E-killer tho.
Rayquaza is the premier nuke (and it can lead ok vs deo-s)
Weather mons 5/6 w
Most common way of dealing with Arc-Ghost was with T-wave + Iron Head
Did not use any deoxys
Did not use Ferro or Tenta even once, even tho that was the archetype I used the most last UPL

I want to thank my managers and my team for believing in me even when I was 0-4, couldn't have made it through without all of you. Special thanks to Lucos for being my co-host for the podcast, you're a good friend when you're not saying 'bop' every second message.
Now, y'all want some teams from a 0-5 8500 buy? Then I'm your guy. Not all of these saw the light of the day, so use some (if not all) with caution.

Decent Balance that has more of a balance breaking approach than anything. Your two Grounds are the primary heavy hitters, with SD Overheat Groudon getting kills on important fat mons while mixed Groundy covers the Zygardes, Salamences and/or Ho-Ohs that show up depending on what you've revealed out of your set. Standard stall breaking Yveltal and Scarf Xerneas to serve as cleric and Marsh/Unec cleaner. Giratina-O is extra insurance vs random E-killer, opposing SD Groundceus and of course Dusk Mane which all have the POTENTIAL to break through the team. Double Primals with max speed Eruption/Water Spout murk the team but it's out-playable.

The team, myself included, didn't wanna lose to what we assumed TDK was gonna bring, which was stall. Having be inspired by previous teams, we threw together a bunch of misfits created to be able to break the usual fat cores and/or stall with CM Spout POgre and again, mixed SD PDon. The main idea vs balance builds is overwhelming PDon with chip since that the usual switch-in to Rocks Fairyceus. Trick Room sweeper Dusk Mane Necrozma is one of the better late-game cleaners vs practically any team as long as you're not facing a mon that is already set-up to GOAT status... which is where Marshadow comes in, a mon that forces the opponent to play smart by merely existing, as the threat of running over your team and stealing all your boosts is way too high. Giratina-O is again general good glue and keeps hazards and PDon in check, this time with T-wave so you can potentially 1v1 the potential Deo-S.

Another good balance, we knew that ict doesn't have the most experience in Ubers so they wouldn't give him something that would be too hard to pilot, potentially some Yveltal/Xern/PDon/Zygarde core or something of that sort was expected and I was slotted in last minute on the week I was supposed to be off over lax. The team he was meant to use didn't feel right to me so I defaulted to this good build (that I believe Skysolo14 made), thinking that it would have great match-up with what was expected. SD Recover Arceus-Ground is top 3 balance breakers so we used that, Mega Scizor is a good, slow pivot that covers Scarf Xerneas and (both) Necrozma(s) which gives the Double Primal core chances to poke holes in teams so that scarf Xern can eventually clean up. Surf on Kyogre was because I kept missing Origin Pulse in tests and I wasn't having it. ...OK so the team absolutely gets fucked by Naganadel unless you play this PERFECTLY and your opponent suffers from brain damage, but covers almost everything else pretty well.

BRO
that zesty chansey team
it wasn't meant to work
but it just
works wonders?

Not much to say about this team, Zesty tried helping us for semi-finals, cooked up this ABSOLUTE UNIT of a team but we opted not to use it. You lead with a threat, set-up, nab a couple of souls and then just get it all the way back-up with Chansey's Healing Wish. Psywave makes it less of a sitting duck vs. things such as Necrozma or Groudon coming in to take advantage of it and Defensive Arceus-Water keeps the threats in check. Scarf Yveltal kills off everything the team can't outspeed by itself (read: everything) and also gives potential momentum by U-Turning when the time is right.

Originally meant to be used by me in week 4 vs TDK but didn't get to. Team works by setting up for a potential Steelceus sweep in the mid to late game. How? By luring multiple threats in with either Yveltal and absolutely demolishing them with Choice Banded Knock Offs, one of the freest damage moves in the entire game, or removing them altogether with the Perish Trap Gengar; Gen 6 Dbond mechanics help it out a lot with dealing with problems that you'd otherwise have such as 50-50s with set-up sweepers. Giratina-Origin is, again, a great glue and a check to a Primal Groudon that usually isn't offensive in this tier. Team also matches up well vs. Sample HO if you know how to pilot it, but you need to be weary of chip. Ho-oh match-up to be played by pressuring rock presence and having no mon it ever freely comes in on, aside from Xerneas and a double on Arceus-Steel; everything else either has a status move to spread or phases it out. Vs. uninvested Ho-Oh, your Steelceus has a 50% chance to kill with +2 Iron Head or guarantees it if it's Toxic'd.

A very strong build of hazard stack I always thought was underappreciated was the one utilising CM Grassceus' late-game breaking potential when paired up with rain as a secondary insurance vs the majority of teams that are super unprepared for it. Original build has some SDef on Dialga to be able to take the Specs Ogre Spout but I think max-max is way more optimal in most scenarios. Heatran at first seems like a momentum drain in rain, since there is no scenario where it's gonna do actual damage with Lava Plume, yet it's mostly used as a phaser and remover of all things fat from the tier such as double phase Giratina-O, Rest Talkers and of course, the disgusting match-up bait that is Ferrothorn. Also, it makes sure I am not horrendously weak to Ho-oh, a Pokemon that otherwise plagues all slower balance builds. Gira-A is a great way to deal with E-killer since all the damage it takes is absolutely pitiful. Specs Ogre is a forgotten threat that punishes greedy balance builds without a fast remover, 2HKOing everything relevant that resists it, pink blobs and generally forcing more 50-50s than you'd expect. Team has some struggles vs smart hazard stack HO, but nothing insurmountable.

Team was chosen as a bait, thinking TDK wouldn't really know the intricacies of this gen well enough to know what Accelgor does and to deal with it accordingly, yet is strong in and of itself. Accelgor lead + phasing is explained by Hack here. Darkrai ensures that the most broken status of all remains on the field one way or another. Thunder was the coverage move of choice to have a much better match-up vs SDef Kyogre, yet I didn't wanna not be able to kill E-killer so I made it 3 attacks (originally was Nasty Plot iirc). Genesect is S++ vs everything that isn't straight up stall and Fat Arceus deals well with everything that doesn't have a way to actually kill it in the late-game, shrugging off the damage Genesect does to it and setting up in front of Will-O-Wisp Ghostceus. Hazard stacking goes as you'd expect.

Choosing a lead vs. Highlord is literally the most difficult part of prepping against him, because he'll either bring Deo-S 5 weeks in a row or a Dark-Type like Tyranitar or Darkrai and you never know which one it's gonna be. Deoxys-Speed was supposed to be able to beat Deo-A and the Darks, thus leaving me without Shadow Ball. The risk of also running into BP was far too high, yet I also didn't wanna lose to the Rayquaza builds he occasionally likes to run, thus Roar Haban Palkia was introduced as an idea. He's always been weak to rain, so mixed Kingdra was the go-to sweeper of choice. Kyogre was EV'd to live a hit from Ray while also having Sleep Talk to deal with the ever looming threat of non-lead Darkrai. Bronzong was the rocker and also Steel-type of choice, as it also gives a check to Groudon builds.

More DPP teams, this time abusing T-Spikes. Lum Tenta has a good match-up vs most leads in DPP and ensures you get residual chip vs. everything grounded while also keeping hazards off of your field a good amount of times. It also helps check for the lead Darkrai's item since you can Icy Wind it and see if it still outspeeds you. Rayquaza + Scarf Ogre is a very potent breaking Combo that can end some teams by itself. CM 3 Attacks Giratina w/o Sneak is a courtesy of Pearl, an idea that keeps a lot of cores such as Steel+SDef Ogre+Dragon in check without sacrificing any momentum. Heatran, while amazing vs stall-y match-ups, is too much of a drain vs HO for the team to be as good as it could possibly be. Still was fun to experiment with, especially speed tiers.

Overall, big thanks to the entire team, not everything went as expected. I think this was probably the worst I could have performed in a team tour setting, but I don't really regret my time spent with the Jubilant Jirachis.

I want to thank the Durians for another amazing season. This team has helped me grow tremendously as a player and this entire season has been a blast. Special shoutouts to Catalystic and SparksBlade for helping me each week, you guys were the unsung heroes of the team and I hope both of you get to actually play next year. Thanks to byronthewellwell Pigeons Cam Zesty43 for being willing to test with me throughout the season, I really appreciated your inputs. Finally thanks to obii for believing in me enough to retain me. I hope I was worth it. Anyway here are the teams I used this upl + some brief thoughts and a couple other teams I never got to use.

Week 1 vs Tape
Screen Shot 2019-05-27 at 9.57.33 AM.png

Tape didn't have that many recent USM plays, but from what I did see he seemed to be weak to cm darkceus. I decided to build around that + mgar to remove fairies and ease the setup. The rest of the team fills in pretty nicely, defensive sr don is necessary to check xerneas + kyogre, coil 2 attacks zygarde is my go to physical wall, and celesteela + kyogre spread status for mgar's hex late game while also annoying half the metagame all by themselves. Cele is incredibly underrated atm, it provides incredible support for any balance teams and is almost unkillable when paired with zygarde. I'm happy with how this game turned out even if darkceus didn't do as much work as I expected.

Week 2 vs Zesty
Screen Shot 2019-05-27 at 10.03.25 AM.png

I was really at a loss on how to prep for zesty. He's one of my best friends on the site, I've tested just about every team I've ever built with him, and he's probably more familiar with my playstyle than anyone. To make matters more difficult, Zesty uses such a wide variety of mons and team structures that there really isn't anything that stands out as being good vs him. In the end i decided do go with my favorite usm archetype of spikes + marsh bo, figuring that the best way for me to win would be to use something I was comfortable with. I ended up having a strong matchup and was really happy with the way the team performed.

Week 3 vs Paycard
Screen Shot 2019-05-27 at 10.09.41 AM.png

This is probably my favorite team out of all my USM squads. I originally built this in pocl to use vs Cynara and decided to bring it back against paycard, who looked extremely susceptible to MMY in his replays. This team has the 3 mons that I'm probably infamous by now for spamming (ho-oh, ferro, zyg) and they all complement each other extremely well defensively. Ho-oh is scarf to provide speed control, especially vs marshadow which is the biggest threat to this team. Groudon is standard sr, ferro has spikes, and mmy cleans late game. I chose darkceus as the support mon to minimize my gengar and lunala weaknesses. The game got out of hand pretty quickly with a crit on my ferro and my mewtwo getting frozen, but I got a crucial bit of luck at the end by dodging toxic so I guess it all worked out.

Week 4 vs Garay Oak
Screen Shot 2019-05-27 at 12.01.25 PM.png

Out of every match I've played over the last two UPL's, this is probably the team choice I regret the most. This was the only week where I hadn't decided a team at least 3 days before playing, and I ended up going for a cteam-y build which is never a good idea. The general concept was fairyceus + lum ttar because garay uses a lot of mgar/groundceus balances that lose to fairyceus after mgar is trapped. Rest of the team is basically hazard stack with sd unecro as a wincon, but it's generally unwieldy and mu reliant. I deservedly lost this match, playing horrendously on top of everything.

Tiebreak vs Leru
Screen Shot 2019-05-27 at 12.07.13 PM.png

I knew I wanted to use a bulky offense built around a calm mind sweeper vs leru as a lot of his teams seemed to be weak to that type of build. Originally I was planning to use this team: https://pokepast.es/83358bf99dc93ef7 which featured cm necrozma and mewtwo, but zesty and a few of my teammates suggested using something less weak to webs. I ended up bringing this cm groundceus bo instead, featuring defensive mence, standard magearna, sd sr pdon, spdef toxic ogre, and bu marsh. I was immediately glad that I brought this because Leru did indeed bring webs and I was able to win in an extremely close game.

Finals vs Goat Heart
Screen Shot 2019-05-27 at 12.14.23 PM.png

This was another headache for me prep-wise. I knew I needed to have a good stall matchup, but I also needed to perform at least adequately vs other playstyles. I strongly considered this team: Screen Shot 2019-05-27 at 12.23.11 PM.png featuring cm psyshock/fmiss lunala + cm rest ogre and even tempted fate with the team name but ultimately decided that lunala was trash. I chose a more straightforward route with the team TDK used vs Poek a week earlier. This team has 2 max speed primals with spout/eruption respectively that can just blow through stall if played correctly. I made a couple changes, most notably switching sr over to fairyceus (to beat sabeleye) and adding solar beam to pdon over hp ice to beat waterceus more easily. So after all this deliberation and preparation, I was ready to outlast the fattest of stall teams... but it didn't exactly turn out that way.

USM was my introduction to tournament play in ubers, and I've really enjoyed it. I don't think USM deserves all the shit it gets from older gen players. Thanks for a great upl everyone, can't wait to come back next year (and hopefully we'll be back in snake/spl too)!

quite a standard squad, aiming to break shit with 252 speed band ho-oh or the uncheckable deoxys, fire blast can be used on big lax over shadow ball if you're expecting some skarmory/forry shit

me clicking boom me smart, magneton lives eq from forry, you're basically aiming from a latias sweep, deo-a can also brutally end some games just by clicking sub

smash most HO, m2 is really good against fat squad, CM bliss because subCM ogre is broken af, kabu can provide spin and fuck w/ a lot of shit. physical gengar 2HKOs lati@s and is kekking around normal type + stronger explosion.
it has a weird look but it's a really cool team for real

Lead DeoD is the most broken in the tier btw

I truly believe this is one of the best bw2 ubers teams out there. There isn't a single matchup bar perish song / turbo blaze roar that this team cannot beat if played correctly.

When prepping for edgar I wanted to use some rain heavy team with a lot of hitters, but after testing and looking through edgar's replays i realized every single team he had a bw2 replay of lost to baton pass. In fact, I do not think there was a single team that this squad didn't have a favorable time versus.

The team started out as deo-s / accelgor / espeon / ninjask / gliscor / ghostceus

This team was solid, but not consistant enough to want to use in a tournament. Threw some divine intervention the don julio of ubers teambuilding henri came up with some shedinja shit.
smeargle / ninjask / shedinja / espeon / gliscor / ghostceus

Shedinja is an interesting pick, but it works on a lot of levels and fixes a lot of issues the team had. Roar kyogre is bait for shedinja, and you just keep switching it in on ogre for free, if its a choiced ogre it isnt even a threat as you can lead ninja protect if they lead ogre, and play it out from there. If shedinja gets one free turn the game is over. Another thing shedinja does is force the opposition to hive mind into getting rocks up, because then the belief is that their ogre will win. This is what happened with edgar, shedinja got one free turn, I at least get a sub + double team if they set rocks, which puts espeon in favor of winning against roar ogre. From there you wait for one scald miss, then its over. Shedinja is nice to ingrain and put shit to sleep since you don't need hazards with this team.

This is the magnum opus of bw2 ubers. Before this upl the best bw2 team was yet to be made, until two titans of the metagame joined together to create the most consistent team the tier has seen in its seven years.
