As a viewer of public battles, it can get boring to watch the same common mons with the same teammates in a format like vgc.
A uniqueness rating (which has absolutely nothing to do with elo, and is not a measurement of competitive skill) would add "interestingness" to a battlers' session - assuming they willingly enabled public viewing.
It would allow better communication of ideas - perhaps mons or combination of mons that innovatively deal with the meta at a given time (assuming they intend to show their team publicly).
Typically uniquess and elo are inversely correlated, as in lower ladder less common meta-defining mons are used.
Optionally one may disable the uniqueness rating on their profile, as it is not relevant to most.
