Icicle Spear breaks Substitute and OHKOs Zygarde-50% with 3 hits (no need for 5 hit RNG). Leech Seed and Substitute allow Caly-Ice to recover health and annoy its checks like NDM and Ho-Oh. Swords Dance increases Caly-Ice's breaking power but Aroma can be used to remove Toxic if your team doesn't have a cleric.

Both abilities work to deter it, though Unaware probably works best as Zygarde at +2 (+1 from switching in, +1 because it can take a Moonblast and transform--see calc below) can 2HKO Magic Guard variants.

So basically you switch Xerneas every time Zygarde come to the field and you press either Moonblast or Rest to have some health back and ignore Toxic. If Zygarde trys to spam Substitute you can OHKO at 50% even when he is transform and he needs +6 atacks to 1HKO you so thats pretty much the scenario.

Reserving Zygarde

What better way to beat a Pokémon than itself? Defensive Zygarde is a counter to DD Zygarde. I will be highlighting the haze set as it's very reliable and a personal favourite but a traditional coil set works too.

Beating DD Zygarde lacking Dragon Tail is trivial. Simply Haze their boosts as they set up and Rest when the toxic damage ramps up (try to get off power construct first). Even if they correctly predict your Rest turn and Dragon Dance, they'll only get 2 attacks at +2.

Run down: Come in before Zygrade snowball to at least +4, set up curses to tank the hits. Rest when at low health, as +6 will never 2HKO +1 Avalugg without crit. Avalanche is a great STAB option as its power will double, and Avalugg is going second anyway. Rest(Talk) is to counter the toxic/glare. Iron Defense is an alternative option to quickly outphase DD.
If you are really desperate, roar is also an option.

Marshadow can bypass Zygarde’s substitute with Spectral Thief and steal any Dragon Dance boost it has accumulated while hitting it with this same boost back, netting a guaranteed 2HKO on Zygarde. Ice Punch is included to make it risky for Zygarde to switch into Marshadow at the risk of being OHKO’d. Bulk Up helps Marshadow survive a hit with Leftovers giving it passive healing along the way. Drain Punch gives Marshadow further longevity against Zygarde by sapping away at it’s health. 68 Def EVs taken from Atk are allotted to survive Thousand Arrows after one Bulk Up, as a boosted Ice Punch already OHKOs Zygarde.

Just come in before Zygarde or when it comes in and you’ll shred it easily.

The EVs let you outspeed zyg before it DDs. It has the highest SpA for Icy Wind to NOT trigger Power Construct after lefties and rest is dumped in def.
If it DDs on the switch you can just Icy Wind > Ice Beam to kill. If it subs at any point without poisoning you you still win.

If it attacks on the switch Feather Dance, heal and then kill it.

Getting toxiced on the switch is the worst case bc they can just keep subbing until they can kill you.

Choice Specs lets you OHKO it straight up but you lose to anything but Toxic on the switch if rocks are up (if rocks aren't up you always win)
