==============

As you can above, Gen 6 made quite an impression and change to previous type combo Kings, for starter Dragon/Fight went from being the very best and most lusted after pokemon type to...trash. Ghost has become an excellent glue to everything, and most surprisingly Dragon is still a great neutral coverage move. Flying as always is an under appreciated boss offensive type. Any suggestions are welcome!

Alright, time for some cleaning up:
I'm pretty sure Dark/Flying coverage should be mentioned under the 4-5 resist category. (Dark/Electric, Steel/Dark, Fairy/Steel, and Fairy/Electric)
Normal/Fighting coverage is unresisted with Scrappy since Ghost/Fairy would be neutral to Normal attacks.
Flying/Water coverage is also resisted by Dragon/Steel and Dragon/Electric.
Flying/Fighting coverage also resisted by Rotom and Steel/Ghost.
Ghost/Fighting coverage is only resisted by Ghost/Normal.
Fairy/Ghost is only resisted by Normal/Fire, Normal/Poison, and Normal/Steel.
EdgeQuake is also resisted by Torterra.
Dragon/Water is also resisted by Dragon/Fairy.
Fairy/Fire is also resisted by Fire (lol) so I guess it should be taken off.
Fairy/Water is not resisted by Fairy/Water or Fairy/Grass since Fairy hits it neutrally. It is also resisted by Ferrothorn and Empoleon.
Ghost/Dark is resisted by Dark so it probably shouldn't be included on the list.
Ice/Ground is also resisted by Ice/Bug.
Fairy/Fighting is resisted by Poison so this probably shouldn't be included.
Dragon Ball is not resisted by Dark/Normal since Dragon hits it neutrally.
Dragon/Dark is resisted by Fairy so this probably shouldn't be included.
Rock/Fighting is also resisted by Steel/Ghost, Golurk, and Fairy/Fighting.

That's my input for now.

normal/fighting + scrappy doesn't sound likely at all.
flying/water is resisted by zekrom/dialga which is irrelevant in ou
flying/water is mehs I highly doubt honeedge and friends can take a hit.
ghost/fighting is 0x effective against both normal and ghost. Immunities take precedence in damage calcs.
fairy/ghost is 0x effective against normal types while being resisted by everything that resists fairy.
edgequake does nothing to levitate/fliers since immunity > all
dragon/water does nothing to fairies
fairy/fire is 4x resisted by fire though that's not saying much
fairy/water is alright
ghost/dark hits ghosts for 4x effectiveness COUGH hex tenta COUGH
ice/ground is more levitating/flying shit
fairy/fight is immune to ghost
no idea what dragon ball is
dragon/dark does 0x to fairy
rock/fighting does 0x to ghost.

Might as well just say remove all ground/water/normal/fight/dragon moves with that logic

This thread is a gen 6 version to the Gen 5 installment that is linked in the original post. Not the way you are thinking about it.

Gen 6 won't be as straightforward. With dual type moves confirmed, along with certain signature moves which additionally deal SE damage to another type arbitrarily out of flavour considerations, this may well lead to certain pokemon having perfect/near perfect coverage despite not having the required movepool.

Alright thanks for the input G-Von, I made the necessary updates.

**Ghost/Fighting coverage is only resisted by Ghost/Normal.
I'm pretty sure Fighting is resisted by Fairy and Poison, so Normal/Fairy and Normal/Poison would both resist Ghost/Fight, unless I'm getting this wrong. Also, when we understand how the mechanics of dual type moves work, we can add new combos with them and what are their resists.

KK my bad, updated. I think we can add Freeze Dry because we know it's an Ice Type moves that Hits Water SE with something that would complete it's coverage.

Can existing type combinations be underlined or something to notate that they exist? We currently don't know of any Pokémon with type combinations like Normal/Ghost or Ghost/Fighting, and (just to give an example) the only resisting type combination in the "3 resists or less" category that actually exists is Normal/Fire.

Sure, types that don't exist will get underlines, combos that don't have STAB users will get bolded.

Edit: Changes done

I was thinking something more of the opposite - bold move combinations have STAB users, existing type combinations that resist a move combination get underlined. For example:
C) Fairy/Ghost:
Resisted by: Normal/Poison, Normal/Fire, Normal/Steel
Perfect Third Type Coverage: Water, Electric, etc.

B) Dark/Flying:
Resisted by: Dark/Electric, Steel/Dark, Fairy/Steel, Fairy/Electric
Perfect Third Type Coverage: Fire, Water

OK I think that's better, done. I also noticed some repetition and as a result some type combos moved up as well.

Edit: Defensive types are now filled up

Steel/Ghost:
Resists: Normal (Immune), Fight (Immune), Poison (Immune), Dragon (Immune), Bug (x.25), Grass, Fairy, Rock, Flying, Steel, Ice, Psychic

Steel/Ghost RESISTS Dragon, it's not immune to it. Need to fix that, dawg.

Done. If there is someone who wants to know more about leaked pokemon from Gen 6, there is a thread at Orange Island just for that. Anyone with more suggestions for offensive/defensive combos, be my guest. I'll add suggested pokemon later after the official release.

Ghost/Fairy actually only has two possible resistance combinations, as Steel no longer resists Ghost this generation.

EDIT: Disregard this post; failed to notice that Normal is immune to Ghost.

Thanks, I added Water/Steel. I noticed a repetition in one combo and that has resulted in some shifting.

Steel/Electric has to be mentioned under the great defensive typings. I think it has the most resists. Immune to poison and resists electric, grass, fairy, psychic, rock, flying, bug, steel, dragon, normal, and ice.

Seeing as you mentioned good defensive typings that don't exist (Dragon / Fairy) and even included some types that can be argued if they are really great defensive typings (Normal / Fairy) here are some more:

Dragon/Poison:
Resists: Water, Grass (x.25), Electric, Fire, Bug, Fighting, Poison

Water/Fairy:
Resists: Dragon (immune), Fire, Water, Ice, Dark, Bug, Fighting

Ground/Fairy
Resists: Dragon (immune), Electric, Rock, Fighting, Bug, Dark

Poison/Fairy
Resists: Dragon (immune), Fighting (x.25), Bug (x.25), Grass, Dark, Fairy

Fairy/Dark
Resists: Dragon (immune), Psychic (immune), Dark (x.25), Ghost

I included Fairy / Dark for its ability to deal with most Dark and Ghost-types, which got an offensive buff in 6th gen and are not as easy to stop as they were. It also has only three weaknesses, to Poison, Steel, and Fairy, which are easy types to cover with other Pokemon (any Steel-type partner basically).

TBQH I only added Fairy/Normal because how much it messes some of the most popular pokemon in Ubers. But yeah, non existing defensive types should be put in a separate category, thanks.

D) Ground/Rock (aka EdgeQuake):
Resisted by: Grass/Fight, Grass/Ground, Flygon (Ability), Bronzong (Ability), Claydol (ability)
Perfect Third Type Coverage: Fire
*With Mold Breaker only 2 types resist this

fire wouldn't give this perfect coverage, as it would still not hit flygon neutrally. Just a nitpick I thought id point out

Note Ghost+Poison(Shadow Sludge maybe?).
It is resisted by Dark-Rock(Tyranitar), Dark-Steel(Bisharp), Dark-Poison(Drapion and Skuntank), Dark-Ground(Krookodile) and Normal-Ground(Diggersby), plus some dual types that don't exist such as Normal-Steel.

While not that awesome as Ghost+Fight it's notable because Gengar gets STAB on both types and the high poison chance of Sludge Bomb(the same chance that Focus Blast has to miss) comes handy, expecially for SubDisable sets.

Resisted by: Grass/Fight, Grass/Ground, Flygon (Ability), Bronzong (Ability), Claydol (ability)

Yup, I'll just change it to Ghost, thanks.

Dark/Ground
Dark/Poison
Dark/Rock
Dark/Steel
Normal/Ground
Normal/Poison
Normal/Rock
Normal/Steel
Ghost/Normal

That's what I counted but with Gengar getting much hype and Poison being a good Fairy killer with it's STAB I'll add it in, thanks.

Also, Freeze Dry + Water is only countered by Jynx (Ability) and Shedinja, GG.
