Pokémon Tornadus-Therian

Flying-type

Base Stats: 79 HP / 100 Atk / 80 Def / 110 SpA / 90 SpD / 121 Spe
Abilities: Regenerator
Notable Moves:
- Hurricane
- Bleakwind Storm
- Heat Wave
- Grass Knot
- Sludge Bomb
- U-turn
- Nasty Plot
- Taunt

Pros:
- Has an excellent speed tier with access to U-turn and Regenerator letting it be an offensive pivot.
- Able to wallbreak with Nasty Plot and its large movepool.
- Capable of switching into Great Tusk (be careful of Knock Off) as well as being able to check Iron Valiant and Volcarona.

Cons:
- Stealth Rock weakness
- Hurricane, Bleakwind Storm, and Focus Blast have low accuracy and can easily get you haxxed.

Potential Sets:
Offensive Pivot (Tornadus-Therian) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Fire / Ice
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hurricane / Bleakwind Storm
- Focus Blast
- Heat Wave / Tera Blast
- U-turn

The goal of this set is to switch into moves for your team and pivot out with U-Turn combined with Regenerator. Hurricane or Bleakwind Storm are a powerful STAB option that can OHKO Great Tusk, Iron Valiant, and Meowscarada. Focus Blast, Heat Wave, and Tera Ice are good coverage to hit several top mons in the metagame. The choice of Tera comes down to what your team needs. Tera Fire lets Torn do more damage with Heat Wave and resist Ice Shard from Baxcalibur. Tera Ice has the same utility, but lets you hit Dragapult, Roaring Moon, and Dragonite your opponents Tera was already used.

Wallbreaker (Tornadus-Therian) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Ice / Fire
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Hurricane / Bleakwind Storm
- Focus Blast
- Tera Blast / Heat Wave

This sets goal is to use Torn's coverage moves to be a fast wallbreaker with Nasty Plot. Everything mention about its coverage also applies to this set, but Tera Ice finds more utility because everything hit by Heat Wave does not take a +2 Focus Blast.

also 100th post is pretty cool

One item I really like running on Tornadus-T is Rocky Helmet. While the weakness to Stealth Rock is annoying, the ability to punish the opponent for using low risk moves like U-Turn or priority is very useful, particularly on Tornadus-T because of the consistent healing its getting from Regenerator. Its not invincible, but if you play your cards right, you can switch into resisted or neutral hits from various physical attackers, deal decent chip, and heal the damage off by switching out, which will let you inflict more rounds of chip damage later. Could see it being useful early on vs various Pokemon like Landorus-T, Urshifu-RS, and the Zamazenta forms.

That being said, I think Torn's utility will be a lot weaker this gen because of no Knock Off or Defog. In Natdex at least, it felt like a very reliable Pokemon despite Hurricane's low accuracy because Knock Off, Defog, U-Turn, and Regenerator + Rocky Helmet were providing consistent utility, but it'll keep only around half the options now, which ain't ideal.

Once chien pao goes, I genuinely believe torn-t should climb back up in viability. It may not be the same mon anymore, but it has plenty of offensive tools to make use of still, and its genuinely being overlooked a bit. Its movepool is still quite great, and it doesn't necessarily have to worry about zapdos anymore since it got gutted even harder than torn did. Meta is a bit hostile for it though at the moment so if chien pao gets banned, it should come back into the spotlight. Offensive pivot sets and nasty plot I am sure will thrive once some of the broken stuff leaves.

Regieleki's ban is already great news for it, if pao goes offensive torn should be great even if it can't remove hazards or knock off anymore.

Agreed. The new move is also not screwed by Sun, since Hurricane's accuracy is reduced further by it while Bleakwind isn't. Hurricane should probably be restricted to Rain sets.
Worth noting, apparently Bleakwind is buffed in rain just like Hurricane.

However, unlike Hurricane, it isn’t nerfed in sun, (nor can it hit targets mid-Fly for whatever that’s worth).

Given how relevant sun AND rain are this gen, getting buffed by one but also not nerfed by the other is imo pretty big.

Torn T will pop off once Magearna/Chien Pao/Zamas get banned.

Til then, he's solid, but weak vs. teams that run those guys.

Zama-H doesn't switch in well but torn-t can't come in either, but pao, crowned, and chien pao are a pain in the ass for it to switch into.

(Thank god those 3 are gone now.)

Been running the classic assault vest set, basically same as the first but ran with vest in mind. Makes for a solid av plivot that can be pretty nice to terra tailor for a teams needs for offensive and defensive requirements.
