Nominating Talonflame

What effect did [Pokemon] have on the metagame?
Talonflames unique ability and high power offensive moves made it arguably the best fire type for a long period of time, through many phases of meta-game shifts. It was so effective that it became the main reason why Keldeos, Terrakions, and Scraftys were running Quick Guard. With priority Brave Bird, it became the best form of speed control because it was effective if you were using trick room, fighting against trick room, using tailwind or fighting against tailwind.

In what main roles was [Pokemon] used?
Most often this was a form of speed control and hyper offense. Less commonly but still a viable option was offering support with Tailwind, Will-o-Wisp, or Taunt.

What caused it to have a significant impact?
Talonflame's impact changed over time. The one of first major roles it had was to provide a counter to Shymin Sky. It was clearly the best check to Shymin. After the ban of Skymin Mega-Diancie was on par with Mega-Kang as the best mega. Steel types obviously did well versus Diancie but they could be removed with Earth Power and a double target. Talonflame often filed the role of an additional Diancie check with Steel Wing. Talon also was Diancie's best fire type partner since Heatran stack the Ground weakness.

Also Talonflame had two huge roles in the play-styles Trick Room a Hyper Offensive. Talonflame acted as both a Trickroom check and a viable fire type to have on a Full or Semi room team as additional speed control. And of course it was the main pokemon driving the increase usage of Hyper Offensive play style.
Also it was probably the most popular fire types to run on Rain Teams since it dealed with Amoonguss best

How do/did you deal with this Pokemon in Doubles?
Quick Guard was one check. But the most effective way to deal with it was switching in Lando. Stealth Rocks and a few other niche options worked. Also some mons it could not touch like heatran and rotom-wash.

Nominating Gastrodon

What effect did [Pokemon] have on the metagame?
Gastrodon had a huge impact in the later part of the meta game but also had some niche usage. Its usage increased greatly as people looked for new Anti-Meta pokemon, particularly versus Genies. Gastrodon took on that role increasingly as Sub-Kyurem dropped off due to increasing use of hyper voice. Secondly and more importantly, Gastrodon became one of the top tier water mons after the release of Volcanion.

With great bulk, Recover, and pairing amazingly well with fire types such as Rotom Heat and Heatran, it became an unsuspecting threat that could no longer be ignored. It force people to actually consider if their team can deal with Gastrodon, if not it could act as a very difficult wall to break because its only weakness is grass.

In what main roles was [Pokemon] used?
Its role was always to serve as a bulky water type used to check certain mons and to support your water weak teammates.

What caused it to have a significant impact?
Belly Drum Azu became very trendy, Gastro took away to Aqua Jet, allowing you room to effectively deal with Azu. And Volcanion was instantly a tier 1 mon upon release which subsequently made Gastro+Fire type a core not to be under estimated. Even before BD Azu was all over the place Gasto was completely untouchable by Thundy and a Lando would not stay in versus it.

How do/did you deal with this Pokemon in Doubles?
You could either have some sort of Grass mon, Mega Venu being the best. Or just double target it with very strong moves like Dracometer or Kang retrun.

if it was a tie between char y and jirachi shouldn't resolving that tie by default mean jirachi is next?
