Congrats to NotDaProGamer and Gliscor for winning week 37! The set will be added to the Hall of Fame.

Week 38 - Swords Dance Wellspring!

:sv/ogerpon-wellspring:
Ogerpon-Wellspring (F) @ Wellspring Mask
Ability: Water Absorb
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Ivy Cudgel
- Power Whip / Horn Leech
- Encore / Play Rough

Swords Dance Ogerpon is an excellent wallbreaker that is particularly great against stall and fat balances, with its solid speed tier and defensive profile granting it many opportunities to use common walls as setup fodder while being able to slice through common Unaware mons like Skeledirge, Dondozo, and Clodsire that are used to handle boosted threats. What Pokemon can give Ogerpon the illusion of a free kill or setup fodder?

I'd prefer people submit lures meant for use by Stall and Balance, however Pokemon that don't wont be disallowed.

The deadline for submissions will be Friday, March 22nd at 11:59 GMT-7!

Passho Berry Acrobatics Moltres
:sv/moltres:
Moltres @ Passho Berry
Ability: Flame Body
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 248 HP / 248 Def / 12 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Temper Flare
- Acrobatics
- U-turn
- Roost
Honestly, really struggled on this one. I first tried a belch slowking set, but that didn't do enough damage. So I searched far and wide for sets and came up with this set. My two options were between mandibuzz and moltres. The deciding factors between the two was the fact that sometimes waterpon doesn't run play rough, and moltres only needs an adamant nature to get an ohko whereas mandibuzz needs full investment and has a chance not to ohko (it was going to involve weak armor, but that then has problems when trying to stall things out).
Enough about my weird thought process, moltres is a great lure for waterpon, as it resists every other move in waterpon's disposal, which is amazing. With a passho berry, it can even take a +2 ivy cudgel unless stealth rocks are down (which is a big downside).
+2 252 Atk Wellspring Mask Ogerpon-Wellspring Ivy Cudgel vs. 248 HP / 248 Def Passho Berry Moltres: 313-370 (81.7 - 96.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Using this, moltres can fire off a powerful full power acrobatics that decimates waterpon.
0+ Atk Moltres Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Ogerpon-Wellspring: 302-356 (100.3 - 118.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
This allows the stall team to properly deal with the other big threats, or if you are a balance team, keep your other mons at full health. If the waterpon doesn't sd up, then moltres can just next turn roost off the damage and be able to start doing moltres things. This set does require heavy anti-stealth rocks support, but something like corviknight can help with that. Tera dragon can help out if they decide to tera as you can now get another acrob off if they weren't +2. 12 speed ev's let you outspeed jolly gambit.
Some calcs:
0+ Atk Moltres Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Iron Valiant: 284-336 (97.9 - 115.8%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO
0+ Atk Moltres Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 252 HP / 104 Def Volcarona: 320-378 (85.5 - 101%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO
0+ Atk Moltres Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. +1 0 HP / 0 Def Zamazenta: 152-182 (46.7 - 56%) -- 78.1% chance to 2HKO
0+ Atk Moltres Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 252 HP / 220+ Def Great Tusk: 158-188 (36.4 - 43.3%) -- 98.6% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
0+ Atk Moltres Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 80 HP / 0 Def Primarina: 168-198 (52.3 - 61.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

:sv/dondozo:
:choice band::dondozo::choice band:
Dondozo @ Choice Band
Ability: Unaware
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 6 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def
Adamant Nature
- Outrage
- Wave Crash
- Earthquake
- Avalanche
Dozo is an easy target, being usually water-only. But, this 'Dozo is Adamant in victory.
252+ Atk Choice Band Tera Dragon Dondozo Outrage vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Ogerpon-Wellspring: 312-367 (103.6 - 121.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO.
It can still tank one hit, as well: 252 Atk Wellspring Mask Ogerpon-Wellspring Power Whip vs. 4 HP / 252 Def Dondozo: 320-378 (72.3 - 85.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO.
(also I WON WHOOP)

When I used a Standard Alomomola in the Archaludon Suspect, I discovered that playing vs a good player with Waterpon while using Alomomola is playing 5vs6, its an absolute liability vs the masked legendary, Waterpon will always switch into the fish for free and do whatever it wants. However, Alomomola can choose the way of violence as well:

Alomomola
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 56 HP / 200 Atk / 252 Def
Adamant Nature
- Acrobatics
- Flip Turn
- Wish
- Protect

Depending on the situation, Alomomola can choose going Tera or not. If it goes Tera right on the switch, this happens:

200+ Atk Tera Flying Alomomola Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Ogerpon-Wellspring: 302-356 (100.3 - 118.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO < Gone.

We might want to preserve the Tera, however in order to use it on another Mon. Then, the sequence goes like this:

200+ Atk Alomomola Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Ogerpon-Wellspring: 202-238 (67.1 - 79%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Waterpon will Tera in order to try to avoid dying and will use Power Whip.

252 Atk Wellspring Mask Ogerpon-Wellspring Power Whip vs. 56 HP / 252 Def Alomomola: 408-480 (84.1 - 98.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
200+ Atk Alomomola Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tera Water Ogerpon-Wellspring-Tera: 101-119 (33.5 - 39.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

67,1 + 33,5 = 101,6 . This means, Alomomola will always live a Power Whip and will always 2HKO Waterpon with Acrobatics even if Waterpon goes Tera and Alomomola doesn,t.

Some other Mons Alomomola might lure with this set:

200+ Atk Alomomola Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Volcarona: 248-292 (79.7 - 93.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
200+ Atk Tera Flying Alomomola Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Volcarona: 372-438 (119.6 - 140.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

200+ Atk Tera Flying Alomomola Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Rillaboom: 284-336 (83.2 - 98.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Grassy Terrain recovery < This is actually a very sad damage, but Alomomola still wins.

200+ Atk Alomomola Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Meowscarada: 232-274 (79.1 - 93.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
200+ Atk Tera Flying Alomomola Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Meowscarada: 348-410 (118.7 - 139.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

200+ Atk Tera Flying Alomomola Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Serperior: 270-320 (92.7 - 109.9%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO

200+ Atk Alomomola Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Lilligant-Hisui: 440-520 (156.5 - 185%) -- guaranteed OHKO

200+ Atk Tera Flying Alomomola Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Iron Valiant: 284-336 (97.9 - 115.8%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO

200+ Atk Tera Flying Alomomola Acrobatics (110 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Enamorus: 174-205 (60.2 - 70.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Vs the rest of the Meta, Alomomola can continue being a decent Wish Passer as usually, it still has good physical bulk and Regenerator.

Today I've brought the TUSK, and while it may be a bit reliant on tera, it's still very fun. Behold:
It's Free Setup, Right?
:sv/Great Tusk:
Great Tusk @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Poison
Rapid Spin
Knock Off
Earthquake
Tera Blast
EVs: 252 HP /252 Def/ 4 SpD

Yes. Tera blast tera poison Great Tusk. It's super easy to bluff this as a normal defensive great tusk set, given you'll be spinning and using it to wall some mons on your opponent's team. This one lacks Stealth Rock, so it loses that bit of utility and stealth rock can be used to lure Ogerpon better given that only defensive Tusk has Stealth Rock normally, but you lose coverage with that. You can change up the moves from Knock Off and Earthquake to whatever you want, (within reason) which makes this set pretty easy to fit on BO and Balance. Literally all you have to do is change a move or two and the Tera Type. Yes it's reliant on Tera, but I think what makes a lure great is not only can it lure the mon it's supposed to lure, but it can provide extra utility beyond that to the team, which is what this set does. It still has the defense evs, so it's still a great check to physical attackers, and it can still spin or set stealth rock for your team. It also is extremely funny. With Tera poison, if they don't tera (and they have no reason to tera), you do 84.3% MINIMUM, which means you have a good chance to OHKO Oger after Stealth Rock damage. Overall it is actually usable (since it is still great tusk) while also ruining your opponent's ogerpon. You even 2HKO Oger if they tera too, which is neat.

Some Damage Calcs:
252 Atk Wellspring Mask Ogerpon-Wellspring Ivy Cudgel vs. 252 HP / 220+ Def Tera Poison Great Tusk: 114-135 (26.2 - 31.1%) -- 7.9% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 Atk Wellspring Mask Tera Water Ogerpon-Wellspring-Tera Ivy Cudgel vs. 252 HP / 220+ Def Tera Poison Great Tusk: 152-180 (35 - 41.4%) -- 74.9% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

+2 252 Atk Wellspring Mask Tera Water Ogerpon-Wellspring-Tera Ivy Cudgel vs. 252 HP / 220+ Def Tera Poison Great Tusk: 302-356 (69.5 - 82%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

+2 252 Atk Wellspring Mask Ogerpon-Wellspring Ivy Cudgel vs. 252 HP / 220+ Def Tera Poison Great Tusk: 226-267 (52 - 61.5%) -- 96.1% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

0 Atk Tera Poison Great Tusk Tera Blast (80 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Ogerpon-Wellspring: 254-300 (84.3 - 99.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

+2 252 Atk Wellspring Mask Tera Water Ogerpon-Wellspring-Tera Ivy Cudgel vs. 252 HP / 220+ Def Tera Poison Great Tusk: 302-356 (69.5 - 82%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

0 Atk Tera Poison Great Tusk Tera Blast (80 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Ogerpon-Wellspring: 254-300 (84.3 - 99.6%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Thank you for all the awesome submissions and make sure to vote for no more than two of them!
The deadline for the voting phase will be April 6th at 11:59 GMT-8.

Moltres is one of the few Mons in OU that is absolutely mandatory to have Boots on. Dondozo is way better defensively than CB, therefore despite not liking defensive Tusk either, I vote :great_tusk:

:Alomomola:

:Barraskewda:
Barraskewda @ Mystic Water
Ability: Swift Swim
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature

- Flip Turn
- Close Combat
- Poison Jab
I know it won't tell, but I want to share something.
Poison Jab + Tera KO Waterpon.
Jab still fishes poisoned on Mola, Dozo, Dnite, Hydrapple and causes real pain to Primarina.
Mystic Water tries to bluff the lack of Choice Band.

Congrats to Eeveeto and
1711965613974.png
for winning week 38! The set will be added to the Hall of Fame shortly.

Week 38 - Gliscor!

:sv/gliscor:
Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 232 SpD / 24 Spe
Careful Nature
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
- Protect
- Toxic

Gliscor is a very prevalent threat in the OU metagame in fact, You could say its presence is Toxic ;) it has access to constant recovery as well as being immune to Spike chip, greatly increases its longevity allowing it to stick around to pressure Toxic as well as remove items. It matches up well into most of the attackers of the tier, and can be used to pressure special threats like Raging-Bolt. Boasting great bulk on both sides, it can tank lots of strong hits, get off a Toxic then stall it out with Protect or support from a teammate. I need YOU to be the pest exterminator and lure Gliscor!

(Remember, we want to use a lure not a counter!)

The deadline for submissions will be April, 7th at 11:59 GMT-7!

Murkrow @ Eviolite
Ability: Prankster
Tera Type: (Insert any viable defensive typing here, Ghost is probably the best one)
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD or 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Relaxed Nature or Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Mean Look
- Perish Song
- Tailwind
- U-turn / Foul Play / Substitute / Taunt

Murkrow has a tiny niche in OU by being a Prankster Tailwind setter with a slow U-Turn. Its slower than Whimsicott (another Tailwind user) but faster than Volbeat and Illumise. To differenciate itself from the Bugs, Murkrow has a higher bulk and a better defensive typing, with 2 immunities. Murkrow will still underspeed many OU threats after Tailwind, allowing some wallbreaker such as Brambleghast, Shiftry or Crawdaunt to come in and wreck havoc.

The main problem with Tailwind in Single metagames its the short duration, condemning the style to always be niche at best. Protect Mons, such as Gliscor are especially problematic for the style, since they burn turns. If Gliscor user sees a Murkrow and a Brambleghast, he will directly come into Murkrow on the Tailwind turn and start randomly Knocking or poisoning things. The moment the abussers of Tailwind come, Gliscor will Protect to burn Tailwind turns and then switch into a teammate. It really is a roadblock for Tailwind teams.

However, our smart crow not only has Tailwind, but also Perish Trap. The moment Gliscor comes on Mean Look, its as good as dead. Murkrow does not care about losing Eviolite or being poisoned, as long as it ensures the massive threat that Gliscor is for Tailwind teams is removed. Substitute and Taunt are options for 4th slot to avoid being poisoned (and in the case of Sub, Knocked too), but they are not as recommendable as Foul Play or U-Turn (which is the best move for the slot), since Murkrow is not meant to stay alive for a long time and you don,t want to click Mean Look only for Hatterene to come in instead of Gliscor (this is also why Tera Ghost is probably the best Tera for this set, but you will rarely be using it).

With a Tera type that resists Fire, this Murkrow can also trap Torkoal, removing the Sun from the beginning of the battle. Some defensive walls like Toxapex, Clodsire, Dondozo or Blissey can also be unexpectedly trapped, opening the way to Tailwind sweepers.

:sv/glimmora:
Glimmora @ Air Balloon
Ability: Toxic Debris
Tera Type: Ice
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Tera Blast
- Earth Power
- Mortal Spin
- Stealth Rock
Honestly, struggled with this one (i.e. took me more than 10 minutes to come up with a set lmao). Anyways, glimmora is a mon that would usually be destroyed by gliscor, for peats sake its 4x weak to e-quake. And that's the beauty of it, most of the time, gliscor wouldn't expect glimmora to do anything to it. It has to knock off the air balloon in order to damage glimmora, and while its doing that glimmora just tera blasts ice it which almost ko's gliscor by dealing *checks notes* 132.2% minimum to it. Once gliscor is removed, glimmora can do glimmora things. It can set up stealth rocks, remove them with mortal spin and deal massive damage with the combo of ice + ground, which hits the whole tier for at least neutral damage. With its air balloon still intact, it can be an annoying presence for bulkier teams, as defensive tusk can't do much to it while it kos tusk outright. Cinderace can ko glimmora, but either it will leave the hazards still up on the opponents side of the field, or it will take big damage if it court changes first. Finally, hatterene is 3hit ko'd by tera blast ice, which means it can't switch in reliably.

This is pretty cool. Especially since you can T1 power gem to further lure them if they use protect.
