[SET COMMENTS]
Steelix's exceptional defensive typing and unmatched Defense stat make it a great asset on Ground teams without sand. Being part-Steel-type lets Steelix deter Toxic for the team and irritates teams like Grass, Fairy, and Dragon teams with Iron Defense. Heavy Slam is vital to check foes like Tapu Bulu and Clefable, which can trouble Steelix with their own setup, and also catches Whimsicott switching in to lock Steelix into a setup move with Encore. Body Press capitalizes on Iron Defense boosts to deal with Pokemon like Zarude, Ferrothorn, and Galarian Darmanitan. Steelix uses Substitute to block Leech Seed users like Ferrothorn, which interfere with its Leftovers recovery, and Iron Defense makes it much more difficult to break. Additionally, Substitute punishes foes like Weavile, Zarude, and Rillaboom switching out of Steelix, as it grants free Iron Defense setup or chip damage with Heavy Slam or Body Press.

Steelix provides neutralities against Grass-types such as Tapu Bulu, Zarude, and Rillaboom and Ice-type Pokemon like Weavile, Arctozolt, and Galarian Darmanitan. Furthermore, Steelix can switch into common Toxic users like Klefki and Blissey for its teammates. Landorus-T is a reliable Ground-immune and Fighting-resistant teammate that can switch into Excadrill and Garchomp. Mamoswine is greatly appreciated for checking opposing Ground-types like Hippowdon, Nidoking, and Garchomp, as well as threatening Dragon- and Flying-types like Kommo-o, Hydreigon, and Galarian Zapdos. Garchomp is an incredibly powerful wallbreaker that checks troublesome Pokemon like Volcarona and Victini. Gastrodon is extremely important to Ground teams for its Water immunity against Pokemon such as Kingdra, Barraskewda, and Volcanion. Nidoking is a potent special wallbreaker that breaks past Pokemon like Corviknight, Thundurus-T, and Tornadus-T with coverage moves in Thunderbolt and Ice Beam. Furthermore, it greatly pressures Aegislash and Komodo, which use Steelix as setup fodder.

Curse is an excellent option instead of Iron Defense, as it allows Steelix to boost Heavy Slam and Body Press simultaneously, but Iron Defense is preferred, as it combats Swords Dance users like Aegislash and Rillaboom. A set with Curse, Rest, Sleep Talk, and Heavy Slam may be used to shrug off burns and improve Steelix's longevity, although Steelix would be losing out on coverage.

Steelix's exceptional defensive typing and unmatched Defense stat make it a great asset on Ground teams without sand. Being part Steel-type grants Steelix the ability to act as a Toxic deterrent for its team and combat typings like Grass, Fairy, and Dragon. Heavy Slam is vital to check opponents like Tapu Bulu, Clefable, and Dragonite which can pose as troublesome threats due to their access to setup. Body Press takes advantage of the Defense boosts Steelix receives from Iron Defense to deal with Pokemon like Zarude, Ferrothorn, and Cloyster. Steelix uses Substitute as a shield against Leech Seed users like Ferrothorn and Celesteela (steela is likely to just flame anyway, i would find a different example or use just ferrothorn) which interfere with its Leftovers recovery. Additonally, Substitute punishes opponents (give examples) switching out of Steelix as it grants free Iron Defense setup or chip damage with Heavy Slam and Body Press. Steelix's EV spread and nature maximize its Physical Defense to capitalize on Body Press. (usually just explain the ev spread if it does something specific, this is just max max, think of it like steelix uses body press to make use of its great defense, it doesnt shape its defense around body press if that makes sense)

Steelix provides a neutrality against Grass-types such as Tapu Bulu, Zarude, and Rillaboom as well as Ice-type Pokemon like Weavile, Arctozolt, and Galarian Darmanitan. Furthermore, Steelix is capable of switching into common Toxic users like Aegislash, Chansey, and Blissey for its teammates. Landorus-T is a reliable Ground-type immunity and Fighting-type resist that can switch into Excadrill, Garchomp, and Kommo-o opposing Steelix. Mamoswine is greatly apreciated for checking opposing Ground-types like Hippowdon, Nidoking, and Garchomp as well as pesky Grass-types like Amoonguss and Celebi. Garchomp is an incredibly powerful wallbreaker that checks troublesome Pokemon like Volcarona, and Victini, and Heatran. Additionally, Garchomp sets up Stealth Rock which chips down opponents that Steelix may have issues against at full HP (give example). Gastrodon is extremely important to Ground teams as a Water-type immunity against Pokemon such as Kingdra, Rotom-W Barraskewda, and Volcanion. Nidoking is a potent special wallbreaker that breaks past Pokemon like Corviknight, Thundurus-T, and Tornadus-T (with what moves).

Steelix's exceptional defensive typing and unmatched Defense stat make it a great asset on Ground teams without sand (Sandless Ground teams> Ground teams without sand?). Being part Steel-type grants Steelix the ability to act as a Toxic deterrent for its team and combat typings like Grass, Fairy, and Dragon (Tbf, Toxic is hardly used on all of the mentioned types, its more of this + ID lets it be very annoying for types like Grass/Fairy/Dark). Considering all these bonuses, Steelix still faces competition from Excadrill due to it's superior speed and utility in Rapid Spin. hHeavy Slam is vital to check opponents like Tapu Bulu, Clefable, and Dragonite ( 0 Atk Steelix Heavy Slam (40 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Multiscale Dragonite: 20-24 (6.1 - 7.4%) -- possibly the worst move ever. Body Press after ID does way more. You could try Whimsicott though [catching it on the switch to lock you in ID/Substitute], or just for slamming Sableye [cant break Sub, but you dont 2HKO it either tho]) which can pose as troublesome threats due to their access to setup. Body Press capitalizes on the Defense boosts Steelix receives from Iron Defense to deal with Pokemon like Zarude, Ferrothorn, and Cloyster (cloy is a bit of an odd mention since this guy can run HPump if its shell smash, you can swap for G.Darm/Mamoswine [pick one]). Steelix uses Substitute as a shield against Leech Seed users like Ferrothorn which interfere with its Leftovers recovery and it has great synergy with Iron Defense as it makes each Substitute much more difficult to break. Additionally, Substitute punishes opponents like Weavile, Zarude, and Rillaboom switching out of Steelix as it grants free Iron Defense setup or chip damage with Heavy Slam and Body Press.

Steelix provides a neutrality against Grass-types such as Tapu Bulu, Zarude, and Rillaboom as well as Ice-type Pokemon like Weavile, Arctozolt, and Galarian Darmanitan. Landorus-T is a reliable Ground-type immunity and Fighting-type resist that can switch into Excadrill, Garchomp, and Kommo-o (You dont do anything vs Komm). Mamoswine is greatly appreciated for checking opposing Ground-types like Hippowdon, Nidoking, and Garchomp as well as pesky Grass-types like Amoonguss (If you can use substitute on Amoon, you use it as setup food. I'd rather use Special attackers like Hydrei, preventing Kommo-o from ever ID'ng, killing Dnite/G.Zappy as examples) and Celebi. Garchomp is an incredibly powerful wallbreaker that checks troublesome Pokemon like Volcarona and Victini. Additionally, Garchomp sets up Stealth Rock which chips down opponents that Steelix may have issues against at full HP such as Urshifu-R, Kommo-o (it feels like you never beat ID Komm ever. It clicks taunt and in a match with STAB SE BP vs non STAB BP, SE STAB BP should win), and Cinderace. Gastrodon is extremely important to Ground teams as a Water-type immunity against Pokemon such as Kingdra, Barraskewda, and Volcanion. Nidoking is a potent special wallbreaker that breaks past Pokemon like Corviknight, Thundurus-T, and Tornadus-T with coverage in Thunderbolt and Ice Beam. (It also breaks Steel which Lix would have trouble with because Aegis, and can pressure Kommo-o/Fairies/Poisons too)

Steelix's exceptional defensive typing and unmatched Defense stat make it a great asset on Ground teams without sand. Being part Steel-type grants Steelix the ability to act as a Toxic deterrent for its team and irritate typings (irritate typings is honestly correct, but that sounds pretty funny though) like Grass, Fairy, and Dragon with Iron Defense. Considering all these bonuses (traits?), Steelix still faces competition from Excadrill due to it's superior speed and utility in Rapid Spin (they kinda just do different things entirely, btw). Heavy Slam is vital to check opponents like Tapu Bulu, and Clefable, and Whimsicott which can pose as troublesome threats due to their access to setup, and also catches Whimsicott switching in to lock Steelix into a setup move with Encore. Body Press capitalizes on the Defense boosts Steelix receives from Iron Defense to deal with Pokemon like Zarude, Ferrothorn, and Galarian Darmanitan. Perhaps Klefki would be a better pick?), Chansey, and Blissey for its teammates. Landorus-T is a reliable Ground-type immunity and Fighting-type resist that can switch into Excadrill and Garchomp. Mamoswine is greatly appreciated for checking opposing Ground-types like Hippowdon, Nidoking, and Garchomp as well as Dragon- and Flying-types like Kommo-o, Hydreigon, and Galarian Zapdos (G.Zappy not dragon :(. Also its not checking these mons per se, but rather offensively threatening [murdering/OHKOing] these guys so that Steelix can go brr later]). Garchomp is an incredibly powerful wallbreaker that checks troublesome Pokemon like Volcarona and Victini. Additionally, Garchomp sets up Stealth Rock which chips down opponents that Steelix may have issues against at full HP such as Urshifu-R and Cinderace.

Furthermore, Steelix is capable of switching into common Toxic users like Aegislash (Shadow ball breaks the sub + you dont really have anything to hit it with. Furthermore, it greatly pressures Aegislash and Kommo-o who use Steelix as setup fodder.

Curse is an excellent option instead of Iron Defense as it allows Steelix to boost Heavy Slam and Body Press all together, however, Iron Defense is preferred as it combats Swords Dance users like Aegislash and Rillaboom. Rest and Sleep Talk can be used instead of Heavy Slam or Body Press and Substitute to shrug off burns and regain HP, A set consisting of Curse, Rest, Sleep Talk, and Heavy Slam may be used to shrug of burns and improve Steelix's longevity, although, Steelix would be losing out on coverage.
