Addressing the obvious thing of note here, we decided that now that we're in a more stable period where the meta has really started to settle and we've seen good Pokemon cement themselves more in the metagame, it was best to have our ranks reflect this by shifting Pokemon up in ranks more. This hopefully shows more concretely which Pokemon have been having consistent performances in tours and have more defined roles in the metagame.

Notable large rises include Mudsdale's reintroduction to the VR, this time shooting up to B rank. Mudsdale has always been a solid defensive Ground-type, but it's popped back up pretty extensively in the metagame now as a blanket check to physical attackers like Cinderace, Aerodactyl, Zeraora, Dracozolt, Excadrill, and more. Clefable also rose 2 ranks as it has been on the rise as a defensive Pokemon, Magic Guard is a great niche in the metagame and the ability to run Rapid Spin and/or Stealth Rock makes it a great filler for your teams needs. Glare and Calm Mind sets have also had strong showings in tours.

That's all for now, would love to remind everyone that we're taking sample submissions! Thanks!

Hey everyone! Now that seasonal is finished, we're gonna have a quick VR update before OMWC. Feel free to post any VR noms you have within the next few days! I had some personal noms i wanted to make too.

:tornadus-therian: & :clefable: -> S-

While it doesnt currently exist, i do believe that the rank of S- perfectly describes the viability that Tornadus and Clefable have in the current meta. Tornadus-T is one of the faster Pokemon in the tier, notably outpacing powerful breakers such as Keldeo, Gengar, and Cinderace. It's also got an incredibly diverse movepool which makes it incredibly splashable, some of the more notable sets include bulky Defog, Offensive Pivot, and Assault Vest. Even nicher sets such as Nasty Plot and Choice Scarf have been seeing usage. Clefable, on the other hand, is just very annoying to deal with. Magic Guard making it immune to Toxic, Sand, and Entry Hazards makes it a pain to wear down in tandem with its recovery and solid bulk. its quite possibly the best hazard control in the tier, with very few Pokemon being able to reliably SpinBlock it, and its able to at the very least force out a majority of the tiers hazard setters. The plethora of support moves it can viably run such as Glare, Aromatherapy, Teleport, and Wish also make it incredibly valuable for any team.

Now, i dont think these two are quite as dominant as Tyranitar and Toxapex, which is why i propose to put them a tier below, as they're both slightly better than the Residents in A+.

:cinderace: -> A

Cinderace doesnt have the greatest spot in the current meta, with the rise of Mudsdale, and the likes of Seismitoad and Toxapex being as ever-present as ever, it really struggles to make notably progress in games which doesnt boil down to "U-Turn into another breaker", which is a role better filled by other pivots. Faster offensive Pokemon to revenge kill it like Tornadus-T, Zeraora, and Aerodactyl are also quite common. Its entirely outclassed by other pivots in the meta and I very rarely see reason to use Cinderace on a team over other fire-types like Victini and Rotom-H, it needs to drop IMO.

:mudsdale: -> A-

After being discovered in OMPL, Mudsdale quickly grew to be a staple in STAB. Its one of the best Ground-types in the tier, having access to good utility moves like Thousand Waves, Toxic, Stealth Rock and Spikes. However, what truly sets it apart from other Ground-types like Hippowdon and Seismitoad is Stamina. Stamina lets Mudsdale wall almost every physical attacker in the tier, notably Tyranitar, Cinderace, Aerodactyl, and Excadrill. Its status as an incredible physical wall and the role compression it provides is fantastic and it warrants this massive raise.

:hippowdon: -> B-

Im gonna keep this short but Hippowdon is solely outclassed either Mudsdale or Tyranitar in everything it tries to do, there's very little reason to run it anymore other than maybe on a dedicated sand team. Put simply there's just better Pokemon out there.

:Urshifu-rapid-strike: -> A-

Probably the biggest loser of the Gambit Ban, the loss of viably being able to run No Retreat + Final Gambit sets on HO to lure out opposing walls its lost a bit of viablilty. Im unsure on how Urshifu is gonna fare in a meta with Toxapex and Seismitoad so prominent, but i do still think that No Retreat 3a and Choice sets are gonna see some usages.

:cloyster: -> B-

Another recently discovered Pokemon, Cloyster is an incredibly threatening sweeper on HO thanks to Freeze-Dry letting it beat Water-types like Toxapex, Seimitoad, and Urshifu-R, while Water Shuriken lets it KO Priority users like Aerodactyl, Tyranitar, or Obstagoon. Its immensely powerful and should be ranked, i may be a bit modest with just B-.

I use way too many unranked mons that are better than half the stuff in C and C+ so I'm gonna nom a lot of them and also a few higher up ones, might edit in some more later if I think of some

:cinderace: A+ --> A-
Ace is good vs a lot of teams but p useless vs muds and some offenses, not as good as toad ferro etc.

:zeraora: A+ --> A
Grounds are too good and fitting GK means you don't have Bulk Up, think it's a bit too high

:Urshifu-rapid-strike: A --> B+
Honestly I'd rather use Keldeo on more teams but it still has utility because strong

:zarude: UR --> B
Really surprised this isn't ranked already, CB Knock Off is really strong and Beat Up can just smash through some teams. If you don't have Buzzwole or a steel bird Grav Apple can just sweep since it has CC for Ferro and U-turn to pivot, solid mon imo

:mudsdale: :melmetal: :reuniclus: B --> Up
Muds probably A- and the other to B+, all good mons that are a bit better than what we got rn there

:hawlucha: B --> B- / C+
We banned all the terrain setters

:zygarde-10: UR --> C+
Only user of Thousand Arrows, w Spikes and DDarts it's a strong offensive presence on some teams, really threatening vs sands of like ttar exca zolt torn rotom filler where typical ground immunes are bypassed

:Torkoal: :leafeon: UR --> C
Sun is decent imo, and Leafeon w Multi Attack is a threatening sweeper after an SD since it can drop torn and buzz

:cresselia: UR --> C
Massive mu fish but if you load into no ttar or kill ttar w baits sub cm can just win vs almost anything

:haxorus: UR --> C
It's just a stronger dragon than mence, highest legal attack behind regigoat, and Mold Breaker for random Unaware clef stall or like Rhyperior which drops to CC

:vaporeon: UR --> C
Cleric water immune, not needing wish tect for recovery means you have an extra moveslot w Scald Slack Off Heal Bell so it has decent utility

:regigigas: UR --> C
Listen. It has recovery and SD. Trust me.

:snorlax: UR --> C / C+
It's just Regigigas but slow, doesn't have slow start tho

:krookodile: :mandibuzz: :chansey: --> UR
Unviable

Majority of the changes were covered in the above nominations, but I'll go over a few that weren't. Hydreigon rose mostly for its NP sets that are very difficult to switch into right now and outpaces a good portion of bulkier builds while also being a decent Choice Scarf mon. Runerigus rose a rank due to how strong of a physical wall it is, especially when it punishes contact moves from Tornadus-T and Aerodactyl so hard while being the best switchin to Terrakion in the metagame. Most drops reflect an absence of usage or defined niche in the metagame, Skarmory has fallen off a little bit in favor of the more popular Cotton Guard Ferrothorn set while Tapu Fini struggles immensely in the current metagame to make progress with offensive sets or wall anything with defensive ones.

Time to become a necromancer and revive this thread with some noms.

Addition

:Hatterene: Hatterene UR -> C Being able to stop Ferro completely is pretty impressive alongside Mudsdale, Seismitoad, and Clefable to some extent, and considering it has Nuzzle, switching can be annoying as well. Moonlight halved by weather is annoying though. But it can also Teleport on things it walls, oh, also trick Room.

:Tangrowth: Tangrowth UR -> C It has a small niche in stall teams.

:Durant: Durant UR -> C It's very strong and can slam teams without Steel, and even Corviknight with Rock after one U-turn... 80% of the time.

:Metagross: Metagross UR -> C+ I tried Demon Metagross and gotta say, it can get out of control very quickly. One advantage it has over Mew is Steel type, so you can't beat it with toxic.

:Umbreon: Umbreon UR -> C I had mixed results with Umbreon. On one hand, its bulk is definitely great, with Psychic immunity and Ghost resist coming in handy. Access to Spin also gives it an important niche over Ttar. However, most offensive mons being dual type make its a letdown at times, tough against Torn-T, Nido and Rotom it is better still.

:Bewear: Bewear UR -> C+/B- This thing is really fat. Effortlessly taking hits from Ttar, Zeraora and might even live 2 Brave Birds from Aero, its biggest weakness remains Sunsteel Strike. It can also run No Retreat to some extent, in addition to Spin and Recover.

:Sigilyph: Sigilyph UR -> C What makes this viable for me is not Magic Guard, but Specs Tinted Lens. Being something that can slap both AV Slowking and Pex is no joke. Obviously can't be higher since it can't 2HKO SpDef Ttar (Can still Trick though)

:Diancie: Diancie UR -> C This mon was the reason I believed Thunderous Kick wasn't broken back then, nowadays it can still deal with Fire Lash. It's also a rare Pokemon to resist Mence's dual STAB and doesn't fear the random Superpower or U-turn from Torn-T. Most of the time Ttar is preferred still though.

:Stakataka: Stakataka UR -> C: Trick Room

:Drampa: Drampa UR -> C+: All Trick Room should have This, Specs hits so hard, and Cloud Nine makes sure Ttar won't be saved by Sand SpD boost.

:Talonflame: Talonflame UR -> C: Besides Ttar, Dragon Ascent is a pretty fun option for offense I saw in Swiss

:Doublade: Doublade UR -> C: This is very underexplored. SD hits hard with Poltergeist + Iron Tail.

:Jolteon: Jolteon UR -> C: It's like special Zeraora, except thanks to Boomburst and Encore, it can force Thundurus out. Weaker Boomburst compared to Heliolisk, but being faster and bulkier gives it a niche.

:Accelgor: :Ninjask: UR -> C Grouping these two up since they are similar: Fast Web setters.

:Luxray: Luxray UR -> C I swept pannu with this, I will let you judge whether that makes it good.

:Poliwrath: Poliwrath: UR -> C Being a rain sweeper with Belly Drum can be deadly I guess

:Stoutland: Stoutland UR -> C+ Benefits from sand being strong atm, I find this a decent option with SD and Memory Multi Attack to allow Exca/Dracozolt to sweep (Usually Fire Memory for Ferro and Corvi).

Change
:Pelipper: Pelipper C -> C+ I think rain is pretty decent all things considered, making Pelipper better.

:Victini: Victini B+ -> A- Being able to bluff a normal set to freely get Screens and then click Final Gambit is huge, and it can even fit Encore as well. Would recommend trying.

:Volcarona: Volcarona B- -> B A hybrid offensive set with Quiver and Web does me wonders. One QD and you force out all Defoggers/Spinners, can even run Mind Blown if you want a surprise suicide Web lead.

:Arctozolt: Arctozolt C -> C+ It clearly doesn't belong in the same tier as other mons. While slow and relies on Hail being up, once it gets a sub up it can be a pain to get rid of, since it can pack Low Kick for Ferro as well.

:Chansey: Chansey C -> C+ Transform Chansey is pretty obnoxious to take down.

:Cloyster: Cloyster B -> B+ Might even be A-, this thing is VERY scary

:Porygon2: Porygon2 C -> C+ Specs Boomburst hurts, I mean it. Struggles against Tyranitar but you can add support for it. Like BJ vs Dugza

:Steelix: Steelix B- -> B Might just be me, but I really like having a solid Aero answer, considering it beats Spin Clef with Anchor, as well as Ttar and Zeraora

:Hydreigon: Hydreigon B+ -> B Latios just gives it too much competition imo, Hydreigon can't actually break Toxapex, which is a massive drawback whenever I see it. Mostly relies on Switcheroo to cripple Pex and that's it.

:Thundurus-Therian: Thundurus-Therian A -> A- I don't think meta is kind to it atm sadly, with offensive mons all being faster and it keeps having to predict correctly, otherwise it won't make much, if any, progress

:Reuniclus: Reuniclus B+ -> B Not gonna lie, I almost forgot this exists. Feels like it can be deadweight in too many games and not consistent.

Changes that I'm not sure on:
:Slowbro-Galar: Slowbro-Galar UR -> C Belly Drum Quick Draw Quick Claw can sweep, probably

:Gastrodon: Gastrodon B- -> C+ I have no idea what this has over Seis.

:Barbaracle: Barbaracle UR -> C Like Kingdra, but Shell Smash > Dragon Dance and can actually break Ferro

:Regigigas: Regigigas UR -> C I swear this is not bad, it gets Recover and SD now!

I think I might edit some replays in later
