Project SS RU Matchmaking: Week 20 - Guzzlord (Submission) (DOUBLE POINTS)

Xurkitree

:ss/Xurkitree:

Xurkitree @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Energy Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Grass Knot
- Volt Switch

Xurkitree is great at luring in Grass-types such as Celebi and Roserade that Ninetales could scare out or in Celebi's case safely set up on. NP Alotales has limited set up opportunity and Xurkitree is able to bring it out versus the few Pokemon it can safely set up on.

Flygon @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Defog
- Roost
- U-turn

Flygon can switch in to physical steel types, it is a ground-immune and can help with hazard removal when ninetales gets knocked. It can provide uturns to allow ninetales to come in for free. Ninetales can switch into ice and dragon types to help flygon

for this very special week, the pokemon that you will need to match is:

:ss/mienshao:
Mienshao @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- U-turn
- Knock Off
- Stone Edge
probably the most talked about pokemon in the current meta, mienshao has cemented itself as a top tier pokemon and possibly even ban-worthy! what do we pair with this menace to make sure it preserves this top tier status?
deadline for submissions is 25th july, gmt+5:30!

Ninetales-Alola @ Choice Specs
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Blizzard
-
Freeze-Dry
- Moonblast
- Dark Pulse

Alola Ninetales compliments Mienshaos wallbreaking power due to its own wallbreaking power. Choice Specs Ninetales can handle pokemon such as Noivern, Togekiss, and pokemon like Flygon, Gastrodon, and Golisopod very well due to its Blizzard and Freeze-Dry STABs. Moonblast hits Coablion and Umbreon for super effective damage whittling them down heavily, whereas Dark Pulse hits Chandelure, Doublade, and Marowak Alola. Mienshao really appreciates Ninetales Alola in this aspect, meanwhile Mienshao can handle Steel-types very well such as Metagross, Registeel, and Stakataka for Ninetales Alola, Both are also able to overwhelm Steelix and Mienshoa is also able to hit Snorlax with super effective damage. In overall these two cover a lot of pokemon in the RU tier together, as they're able to overwhelm them quickly with their combined wallbreaking power.

Hey guys ... I will like to share my set for this week matchmaking ...
So this week Pokemon is mienshao and the best pair i feel is Sigilyph

:ss/sigilyph:

Sigilyph @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Heat Wave
- Roost
- Calm Mind/Defog

After the Tier shift ... Sigilyph is really great to use. Combining with mienshao, it helps to deal against the mons which mienshao has trouble to break (mostly vileplume, togekiss etc.) and Life orb pairing with Magic guard ensures more damage and allows to safely switching despite having stealth rock in the team. Defog is here for clearing hazards which will be very helpful for mienshao to safe switch in.

Gardevoir @ Choice Specs
Ability: Trace
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Moonblast
- Energy Ball
- Teleport

Vileplume is the #1 issue Mienshao has in the current metagame, and with it often comes bulky cores which include other pokes that can be hard to take down. Gardevoir is able to immediately pressure the likes of Vileplume and Quagsire with an immediate OHKO so that Mienshao may pivot undettered by annoyances. In exchange Mienshao handles the Steels that Gardevoir may struggle to KO, as well as Snorlax, and the core puts double pressure on the increasingly popular Umbreon. Teleport is included so that the two may pivot with one another with appropriate timing.

Unlike the Mienshao + Xurkitree dynamic that many players praise to no end, this core is not hindered by Vileplume, and unlike the Mienshao + Darmanitan duo, it is not stopped by Curse Quagsire.

Reserving Xurkitree, I'll write the post tomorrow probably
Yo yo yo it's ya girl I was really busy and forgot to post but here I am!

Mienshao and Xurkitree both already have a reputation for being extremely strong on their own merits, but when you pair them together, there are barely any teams in the tier that can fend off this combo. VoltTurn spam is already one of the best strats in the metagame, and these two things sure do love to Volt and Turn. Mienshao can U-Turn out of almost all of its checks and bring in Xurkitree, who can then proceed to threaten Mienshao's checks and force in other threats. Slap these two on a team with some hazard stacking and a strong breaker, and you're nigh guaranteed to make consistent progress. While Mienshao isn't capable of breaking all of Xurkitree's checks, and Xurkitree isn't safe against every Mienshao check, these two still manage to form an extremely potent duo capable of forcing chip damage onto opposing teams in order to open up sweepers and late game cleaners.

Registeel @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic
- Seismic Toss/Body Press
- Heavy Slam/Protect

:Registeel: is a nice partner for :Mienshao:, as the latter can't spam its strongest move against resists like :Noivern:,:Togekiss:,:Reuniclus: etc. This is where Registeel comes into play, it can switch into those mons without much worry , and can force them out. Also very importantly, it can setup rocks, which means after Mien knocks flying types like :Crobat:, :Noivern: etc , they take rocks and hence mien can break through them easier. In return mien can pressure steel types that don't care about Registeel.

Spread love not hate:blobuwu:, submit more defensive partners people

Crobat @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Roost
- Defog
- Brave Bird
- U-turn

Mienshao isn't very immediately threatening to Grass-types like Roserade and Dhelmise nor is Xurkitree by throwing in a Flying-type you can make the xurk mienshao volt turn combo cover pretty much the whole metagame. with just a bit of chip max attack Brave Bird will KO Vilpeplume as well. Crobat also provides a defensive roserade answer which could otherwise be awkward to swap into.

Stakataka @ Leftovers
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball
- Stone Edge
- Body Press / Earthquake

Mienshao of any kind hates facing Fairies and stuff like Crobat and Noivern. With Stack Attacker, Mienshao can pivot via U-turn on those problems and into this thing. Gyro Ball and Stone Edge makes quick work of them all. There's no use in any of them fighting back since all they'd be able to do is scratch Stak at best. So there, giant metal rock tower wins, fairies lose!
