Nominating Torracat as a defensive counter because it can switch in quite easily on -1 M-Attack or +1 M-Attack.

Torracat @ Eviolite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Parting Shot/Taunt
- Flamethrower
- Fake Out/Rest

This mon is very bulky due to eviolite and it also has WoW and P-Shot to lower your opponent's attack, as well as having intimidate which lowers your opponent attack by one stage. You can also use rest to shrug off hits. Taunt can also be used to stop it from SDing up. One of it's problems is it's unfortunate weakness to Rocks.

Some calcs:
-1 252 Atk Silvally-Bug Multi-Attack vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Torracat: 38-45 (11.3 - 13.4%) -- possible 8HKO
+1 252 Atk Silvally-Bug Multi-Attack vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Torracat: 85-101 (25.4 - 30.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock
+1 252 Atk Silvally-Bug Multi-Attack vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Torracat: 85-101 (25.4 - 30.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock
+6 252 Atk burned Silvally-Bug Multi-Attack vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Torracat: 114-134 (34.1 - 40.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Fake out into Flamethrower is a 2HKO on Silv-Bug.

More calcs:
0- Atk Torracat Fake Out vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Silvally-Bug: 24-29 (7.2 - 8.7%) -- possibly the worst move ever
4 SpA Torracat Flamethrower vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Silvally-Bug: 168-200 (50.7 - 60.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Nominating Onix as a defensive counter to Silv-Bug as it can switch in on a unboosted M-Attack quite easily and it can also live two +2 M-Attacks from full.

Onix @ Eviolite
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Atk
Impish Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic
- Stone Edge/Rock Blast
- Rest/Body Press
- Sleep Talk/Curse

Onix is a defensive tank that can take hits from Silv-Bug and either stall it out with Toxic+Resttalk, hit it with it's rock STAB, and lastly curse up and take hits for days. I also added body press onto the set in case you want to use it's massive defense.

Some calcs:

252 Atk Silvally-Bug Multi-Attack vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Onix: 55-66 (20 - 24%) -- 0.5% chance to 4HKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252 Atk Silvally-Bug Multi-Attack vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Onix: 109-129 (39.7 - 47%) -- 0.4% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
+4 252 Atk Silvally-Bug Multi-Attack vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Onix: 162-192 (59.1 - 70%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
+6 252 Atk Silvally-Bug Multi-Attack vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Onix: 216-255 (78.8 - 93%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

It's even able to live a +6 M-Attack with rocks up.

More Calcs:

4 Atk Onix Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Silvally-Bug: 120-144 (36.2 - 43.5%) -- 90.2% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
4 Atk Onix Rock Blast (4 hits) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Silvally-Bug: 128-152 (38.6 - 45.9%) -- approx. 2HKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252+ Def Onix Body Press vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Silvally-Bug: 116-137 (35 - 41.3%) -- 66% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rocks

The goal of this set is basically to come in and wall Silv-Bug and then beat it from there by using it's moves.

To ctproonie217, since you left reservation as just that, I allowed someone else to take it. Those are the rules I'm afraid. I hope you understand. Anyway.....

As usual, vote for 2 checks & 2 counters! Voting ends Sunday!

Checks: Rockvally, Crustle
Counters: Klang, Togetic

I want to say that stonjourner is a counter.
Bugvally can 3HKO with Multi-Attack, this is why I put it in with the checks. I classify a counter as something that has to be at least 4HKO'd or something that can last the whole battle long with recovery and all that.

rockvally and ston
klang and pyukumuku

also i'd say ston *is* a counter, bc it can still switch in twice and always beat it, which fits the description of a counter. (which only has to switch once) it is however a p shaky one, and i def wouldnt run it as my sole bugvally answer (if i was weak to it that is), but it fits the description

checks: silvally rock, manectric
also a big fan of crustle, vullaby & drakloak, cool picks, but i appreciate the former two for their general splashability & utility. not big on onix/stonjourner purely because of their weakness to surf, a move that wasn't listed in this submission tbf but is something i'd definitely consider when building
counters: togetic, klang
pyukumuku would be my third pick but it honestly feels like cheating since it walls basically every physical attacker. dusclops & torracat seem like perfectly good counters but aren't quite as reliable or splashable. heatmor seems a bit too specialised towards beating silvally here, not huge on carkol because of surf as stated above
