Scizor has been an important presence during gen8, from defensive to offensive sets. Even though no longer an OU pokemon, it still shines in some HO builds such as Cloyster + DD Pult Veil HO by bbeeaa. With access to roost and decent bulk, it's able to SD in front of some steels like Corviknight and Melmetal. Bullet Punch is as strong as always, a priority move powered up by a base 130 atk and a Technician boost. What pokemon are able to stand against this long time OU presence?

I am listing this as a Check to scizor.
Incineroar can tank both scizor's knock off and bullet punch with ease, while ohkoing with flare blitz in response. It can also pivot out of pokemon that switch into it, with parting shot. The reason this is not listed as a counter to scizor is because incineroar, after getting knocked off can only come into scizor a couple of times when stealth rocks are up, and incineroar has no reliable recovery.

Zapdos can comfortably switch in and threaten Scizor with any of it’s moves, but especially Heat Wave to outspeed and OHKO. Scizor can of course Knock Off Zapdos’ boots to try and break through later, but this is counteracted by Static chances. Roost to keep healthy and switch in multiple times making a counter over a check I think.

It can also reliably come in, and it can flamethrower leech seed switch ins, and leech seed flamethrower switch ins to stay at full at all times.

Defensive calcs show that after 1 Iron Defense, Scizor basically can’t do anything to Skarm, even after 3 SDs.

So I hate to be that guy, but:

1. The rules state to only post sets that are viable in OU. Steelix is not only not on the viability rankings, it’s not even listed as a defensive option on the role compendium.
2. You copied the language of my post about Skarm almost exactly. Obviously, I don’t own the words I use but if you put our posts side by side the language of yours is nearly identical to mine.

With a Lot of HP and Defense, Melmetal can wall Scizor completely, it can paralyze Scizor with Thunder Wave or set up Acid Armor or Iron Defense to make Scizor unable to do nothing at Melmetal and hit it hard with Body Press. However, Melmetal has no realiable recovery.

Standard Quagsire completely Counters this Scizor set. Strongest move Scizor has against a fully invested Plus Def Nature Unaware Quag is Knock Off, with it only having an 86.5% chance to kill in 4 hits, with it occasionally taking 5 hits. Sure, first time it hits it removes Quag’s leftovers, but Knock Off also loses its power boost, so the thing is still going to be a pain in the ass to kill for Scizor. Ignore Bullet Punch, it does absolutely nothing to this. Scald as your spammable Water STAB is most likely going to leave Scizor completely crippled by Burn and unable to do anything against the rest of your team. Recover keeps Scizor from even getting a little bit close to killing you in 3 hits.

As you can see, the Blaziken has the item Air Balloon. This item is specifically used to disrespect ground types.
But why Air balloon, against Scizor?
Well, for some reason this piece of mothe-*** gets Sand Tomb.
Air Balloon lets it set up one Swords Dance, and Scizor can't even do shit about it because both it's stabs are dogshit against Blaziken
This is really MU dependent tho, some Scizors have either Sand Tomb, Dual Wingbeat, or Roost. But you can't have all 3 at the same time or you're obviously fucked

But on the other hand, you can just click Flare Blitz, and kill that stupid bug right away, without it doing anything to you, as you outspeed.

Victini is a check. It outspeeds and OHKOs with V-create, but it doesn't like taking a knock off, and being knocked off means that victini can't switch in again with rocks up.
