Introducing the absolute best Clef set ever...

Tectonic Rage Clefable
or as I like to call it, "why didn't they remove Pujo's access to the Teambuilder on PS"

:bw/clefable:
Mélodelfe (Clefable) @ Groundium Z
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 20 Atk / 236 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Dig
- Stealth Rock / Thunder Wave
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
Clefable is a Pokemon that tends to lure in Heatran a lot. Heatran is usually pretty safe to switch into non-LO Clefable, and even LO Clef is forced out by most Heatran variants. However, bulky Clef is a very interesting mon, since you can basically tech in whatever you need on it. The only two moves it will always need are Moonblast and Soft-Boiled. This is where Dig shows itself as a surprisingly decent option to absolutely destroy Heatran, whether it be on the switch for SpD Tran, or once it's on the field, for Offensive Heatran.
The 20 EVs investment in Atk allows Clefable to always OHKO max HP Heatran after Rocks:
• 20 Atk Clefable Tectonic Rage (160 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Heatran: 340-400 (88 - 103.6%) -- 25% chance to OHKO / guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
and always OHKO Offensive Tran, no matter what its spread is:
• 20 Atk Clefable Tectonic Rage (160 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Heatran: 336-396 (104 - 122.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Groundium Weavile

Weavile @ Groundium Z
Ability: Pickpocket
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Dig
- Pursuit/Swords Dance/Ice shard
-Knock Off
Many teams will rely on Heatran as both a Weavile Check and a counter when it locks into Icicle Crash. Groundium Z easily ohkoes tran. Pickpocket is the ability used, since even though it's useless, it makes the opponent less likely to suspect Z. The groundium clef set above is probably a better lure, but Groundium on Weavile can be used on other mons like Toxapex/Magearna for heavy damage too.

252 Atk Weavile Tectonic Rage (160 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Heatran: 628-740 (162.6 - 191.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature

- Defog / Knock Off / U-Turn

I find Heatran to generally be more difficult to lure than a lot of other common pokemon, as things that annoy heatran, such as earthquake, are generally quite obvious - such as EQ on tangrowth; and not a lot pokemon take good advantage of heatran being removed offensively (it is still quite nice to remove defensively however).

This is a pretty standard Z Tornadus set that works well as a heatran lure as players are often forced to speculate on which Z move Tornadus carries & flying is the most common. Additionally, Heatran is a common switch in to Tornadus, not minding any of its moves barring Knock Off when it has lefties, or general fighting coverage (SP + FB) however, heatran is often the go-to switch in against Tornadus' powerful hurricane. This is where Fightinium Z is nice to pick off a chipped or offensive Heatran:

252 SpA Tornadus-Therian All-Out Pummeling (190 BP) vs. 252 HP / 212+ SpD Heatran: 262-310 (67.8 - 80.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Tornadus-Therian All-Out Pummeling (190 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Heatran: 350-414 (108.3 - 128.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Superpower Mega Scizor by KaiserKaiba !
Reserving Scizor-Mega

:SM/Scizor-Mega:
Scizor-Mega @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 16 Def / 144 SpD / 100 Spe
Impish Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Swords Dance
- Roost
- Superpower

Usually, Heatran is a check of Scizor-Mega (although he won't appreciate U-turn or Knock Off from Scizor-Mega). Thus, the investment in Speed allows Scizor-Mega to outspeed Heatran SpDef (211 Speed sufficient to outspeed the usual spread of Heatran SpDef). Because of this, Scizor-Mega can easily place one Swords Dance and OHKO with Superpower. Regarding Heatran Off, Superpower is still very good to greatly weaken Heatran (particularly Heatran Off does not have recovery at all).

Some calcs:

Heatran SpDef:

- +2 0 Atk Scizor-Mega Superpower vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Heatran: 466-550 (120.7 - 142.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Heatran Off:

- 0 Atk Scizor-Mega Superpower vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Heatran: 234-276 (72.4 - 85.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Note: We can consider increasing the Speed to 220 to outspeed Magnezone Modest Full Speed. However, this requires reducing the bulk of Scizor-Mega and therefore being weaker to Alakazam-Mega:

- 252 SpA Alakazam-Mega Focus Blast vs. 248 HP / 144 SpD Scizor-Mega: 142-168 (41.3 - 48.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

- 252 SpA Alakazam-Mega Focus Blast vs. 248 HP / 108 SpD Scizor-Mega: 147-174 (42.8 - 50.7%) -- 2.3% chance to 2HKO
Focus Punch Mega Mawile by lifemap !
:SM/Mawile-mega:
Heatran is like one of 2 switch ins to this demon, even though it can only take like 2 hits before it disintegrates. Focus punch mawile lets you keep a ton of momentum if you get a good swap to heatran. It also decimates any defensive checks to mawile like ferro (even tho mawile sets up on ferro and kills it). The only thing that I dont think this set will be beating is Skarm, but skarm can only whirlwind you out.

Mawile-Mega @ Mawilite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 96 HP / 252 Atk / 160 Spe

It's always funny to catch somebody with this mon. I don't think I need to post calc's cause this mons is eating up everything it touches but heres a few anyway.
252+ Atk Huge Power Mawile-Mega Focus Punch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Heatran: 426-502 (110.3 - 130%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Huge Power Mawile-Mega Focus Punch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Ferrothorn: 368-434 (104.5 - 123.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

- Hidden Power [Ground]

Hidden Power Ground Serperior can easily lure in Heatran, as Heatran usually can help vs Serperior and tank Leaf Storm coming from it. but if Serperior finds itself behind a Sub and has a Contrary-boosted SpA stat it can catch both Heatran off guard with Hidden Power Ground, which is 4x super effective against Heatran. Heatran will finds itself safe, as Serperior is usually Hidden Power Fire and Heatrans Flash Fire can take advantage of Hidden Power Fire, but with Hidden Power Ground Serperior can catch it by surprise.

to SpDef Heatran:
200 SpA Serperior Hidden Power Ground vs. 252 HP / 176+ SpD Heatran: 132-156 (34.1 - 40.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Usually, Weavile is often Choice Band (in order to being an excellent user of Pursuit and hit really hard with Icicle Crash as well), and, if we talk about his niche set, Weavile can be Choice Scarf (with Punishment for Bulky Calm Mind user like Latias-Mega or Reuniclus) or Swords Dance with Groundium Z (to bait both Magearna and Tapu Fini). The issue with these set is that Clefable can easily check them (especially when we consider Clefable Unaware in the equation, leaving only flinch with Icicle Crash as the only way to beat Clefable for Weavile). Thus, to really bait Clefable, Weavile can run Poisonium Z (on Poison Jab). Not only the Z-move destroy Clefable, it allows Weavile easily remove Tapu Fini as well (damn you Magearna with your poison-immunity).

Reserving hydreigon

Hydreigon has always been a solid niche in the SMOU meta, for it to have the defensive typing to wall common heatran and greninja sets(bar Z Flash Cannon and Ice Beam) as well as a great movepool and Z blackhole eclipse having the power to nuke a good portion of the meta, it's easy to understand why. But there's always been a few pokemon that has always hindered its true potential. Or rather a type. Bulky Fairy types such as clefable have always been the bain of hydreigons existence ever since generation 6, with both STAB moves resisting the clef and flash Cannon barely not doing enough with clef still being able to escape being 2hko'd with Leftovers. This becomes even more of a problem In gen 7 with the tapus running rampant in the meta. But also because of gen 7, Z moves have been available, and with that we are going to use a move that no one ever uses in competitive, and probably not alot realized that it existed, and make hydreigon the fairy nuke. Belch.

First things first, what is belch? Belch is a 120 BP poison type special attack. Sounds nice right? Only to find out it has 2 glaring problems. For 1. You can only use it once. Reason for that is for 2. You have to have a Berry in order to use it. Because Belch as a move is a weaker more demanding Z move, why not make it extremely better and worth using with poisonium Z. With Z Belch, hydreigon no longer fears the fairy types but now becomes the feared, being able to outright ohko them. With this power, hydreigon is able to pave way for mons such as mega lopunny and ash greninja to sweep teams that mons such as the fairy's that were mentioned would wall and kill in return.

As long as you have hazards to determine their set, dragon dance is free. If you see they take rocks damage, you can swap out and try to get a bit more chip to kill

only a little bit of chip needed for it to kill after rocks.

fire off an ice beam on a lando as they swap mag and then pick up a kill, or predict mag switch so they dont suspect physical variant.

Even though spdef hippowdon is more prominent in gen8ou, it has a solid niche in gen7ou.

For its spdef, it's able to tank mons such as tapu koko:tapu koko:, can easily tank spdef heatran but can even easily live a Z magma storm:heatran:, even escapes getting 2hko'd from mega Alakazam:Alakazam-Mega:. As for this case against magearna:magearna:, it is able to live any hit magearna dishes out outside of +1 Z Fleur Cannon.

As for the Z move, it is able to ohko any set magearna runs outside of ofc shuca Berry. In addition to this, it is able to ohko alot of other mons such as toxapex:toxapex:,
Mega mawile:Mawile-Mega:, and jirachi:jirachi:, it is even able to bypass grassy terrain, so you can bait even better with tapu bulu:tapu bulu: being paired with it.

This is a set I have used occasionally and although flamethrower & earth power are not uncommon on Hydreigon, you can still catch people out as they switch Mage in to scout dark pulse, or erroneously assume that AV can tank an earth power. Pairs well with the likes of Lele, as this set breaks down the likes of Mage & Alolan-Muk (can also kill SpD Toxapex after rocks which is nice).

252+ Atk Hydreigon Tectonic Rage (180 BP) vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Magearna: 328-388 (90.3 - 106.8%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO
