In this metagame the typing of the move in the first slot is changed to the primary typing of the Pokemon. If the Pokemon also has a secondary type, the typing of the move in the second slot is changed to the secondary typing of the mon. All other aspects of the move (power, accuracy, secondary effects, etc.) remain the same, allowing Pokemon to run dangerous new STAB moves.

For example:

:sv/iron-jugulis:
Iron Jugulis @ Choice Specs
Ability: Quark Drive
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- U-turn

Iron Jugulis, while powerful, has always lacked strong, reliable STAB, and now it has it! With Hydro Pump in the first move slot, it becomes a powerful 110 Base Power Dark move! Fire Blast is turned into a strong, more reliable 110 Base Power Flying-type move. Earth Power, while unaffected by Revelationmons, punishes the few strong switch-ins to Iron Jugulis like Glimmora, Iron Treads, and Iron Hands. U-turn, despite being a restricted move, is allowed in the third and fourth moveslots, as it does not change type.

FAQs:
Q: How do I change the typing of my moves?
A: This will be done automatically, just put the move in your first or second slot to change accordingly. This will also be displayed visually in battle, so you'll know if you've done it right!

Q: What are "restricted moves"?
A: These are moves that would be overpowered if they were type changed, but are not overpowered in their standard form. As a result, they are allowed, but only in move slots that let keep default typing (2-4 for single typed Pokemon, 3rd and 4th for dual typed).

Q: What about status moves, like Stealth Rock and Toxic?
A: Status moves type change as well, but it usually does not matter. Stealth Rock still deals Rock-type damage, Steel-types are still immune to Toxic, etc. The only two exceptions are immunity abilities (Normal-type Will-O-Wisp will no longer activate Flash Fire) and Thunder Wave, which for some reason does check immunities (Normal-type Thunder Wave will paralyze Grounds, but not Ghosts).

Q: What if a Pokemon changes type during battle?
A: The typing of your moves will change as well! Whether it's by your own action like Protean, or your opponent hits you with Soak, your move types will change according to the rules of the meta.

Q: What about Forest's Curse and Trick-or-Treat adding a third type?
A: Third types are not considered for move type changes.

Q: How do abilities that change the typing of the move (like Pixilate) work?
A: If a move is type changed to be normal type, it will be affected by Pixilate.

Q: What about moves that cannot be type-changed, like Weather Ball?
A: These moves are still unchangable. Weather Ball in the first slot would always be Normal if no weather, or the correct typing for the weather it is currently in. Future Sight and Doom Desire, due to their unique mechanics, also do not type change.

Q: Where is this metagame playable?
A: Revelationmons is currently playable as a challengeable format!

Hey look, some bullshit.

I also want to quickly touch on Tera here; I think this has potential to be one of the metas where Tera ends up being the most healthy, maybe, since it comes with a real drawback. Since in-battle type changes affect your Rev moves, dual types will lose their second Rev slot and have their primary slot changed to their Tera type. Obviously the super STAB guys like Noivern don't care, but for example here, Dragonite will lose out on STAB Extreme Speed if it Teras. Additionally, this throws a wrench into the offensive mons Teraing defensively, as they may lose one or both of their preferred STABs.

This should be an exciting gen for Rev, looking forward to it!

Tera adversely interacting with Revmons seems like a pretty intriguing riddle.

:SV/garganacl:
Garganacl @ Leftovers
Ability: Purifying Salt
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 248 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Careful Nature
- Body Press
- Salt Cure
- Iron Defense
- Recover

The usual Garganacl, now with STAB Body Press that nothing is immune to. After Teraing, it gets a swell new defensive type that wipes out its Ground and Fighting weaknesses and still has nothing immune to it.

:SV/Iron Valiant:
Iron Valiant @ Choice Band
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Liquidation
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Trick

Iron Valiant is this desperate for a better physical Fairy attack than weaksauce, Defiant-proccing Spirit Break. Knock Off OHKOs most Gholdengo, and Trick cripples defensive Poison-types.

:SV/Chi-Yu:
Chi-Yu @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Beads of Ruin
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Flamethrower / Psychic / Lava Plume
- Overheat
- Dark Pulse

Screw Tera Blast, the first moveslot is the new Tera Blast in town. Get a stronger Dark attack pre-Tera and smash in the faces of Tyranitar, Blissey, Roaring Moon, and Hydreigon with Fighting-type Fire Blast post-Tera.

:SV/Iron Bundle:
Iron Bundle @ Choice Specs
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Electric
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Ice Beam
- Hydro Pump
- Freeze-Dry
- Flip Turn

See above for more talk about the first moveslot being the new Tera Blast. You might want to trade the positions of Ice Beam and Hydro Pump. As a side note, Iron Bundle's Flip Turn is weak enough that changing its type with Terastal is likely not worth it.

:SV/Gholdengo:
Gholdengo @ Leftovers / Spell Tag
Ability: Good as Gold
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 252 HP / 96 Def / 156 SpD / 4 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Make It Rain
- Thunderbolt / Psychic / Psyshock / Shadow Ball
- Substitute
- Nasty Plot / Thunder Wave / Recover

Two-attack sets and mono-attacking sets are particularly thrown in for a loop with Terastal, and it shows here. Sure, you can stick Shadow Ball in moveslots 2-4, but where's the fun in that? Tera Fighting ensures you hit the problem spinner Iron Treads super effectively post-Tera while still getting a desirable defensive typing (you can go for Tera Fairy, but that pretty much has to be paired with Shadow Ball or Hex). A Psychic move in moveslot 2 gets you a stronger or funkier Ghost move pre-Tera but means that Psychic-types such as Slowking - and embarrassingly, also opposing Gholdengo - wall you post-Tera. Thunderbolt in moveslot 2 ends up in a similar situation, this time with Dragapult (and Brambleghast) resisting or being immune to both moves post-Tera. You might still be better off with Shadow Ball in moveslot 2 instead. (EVs let you tank a Choice Band Iron Valiant Knock Off and a Choice Specs Dragapult Shadow Ball after Stealth Rock (both pre-Tera); while Iron Valiant is OHKOd back by Make It Rain, you need Spell Tag in order to guaranteed OHKO Dragapult back with a 80-BP Ghost move.)

On a serious note, Espathra can tera and then use something like fighting type stored power, which is kinda ridiculous. Dragapult also gets actual good physical STAB with body slam or psychic fangs, and theres probably a lot more stuff that's going to be busted
I have another question, how does this work with Protean? Say I have meowscarada and I use spikes in 3rd slot, does my 2nd slot keep dark or become regular again? I am blind, forget that

Outside of Espathra, we're already considering a lot of Pokemon like Dragapult, Dragonite, Roaring Moon, Iron Valiant, and a couple others. Blaming myself here for the lack of development, but we should have some news soon.

Dragonite, Palafin, Noivern, Iron Bundle, and Espathra are all banned!

We didn't want to have a massive voting slate before we have a ladder, so will be keeping a close eye on threats such as Poltegeist and Chi-Yu in the future.

:sv/dragonite: Dragonite was banned this gen for the exact same reason it was last gen: Extreme Speed. Dragonite is an incredibly strong priority user. It is also extremely hard to revenge kill and that combined with the limited defensive counterplay pushed it over the edge.

:sv/palafin: Palafin ran the exact same sets it ran before it was banned in OU, and was just as strong here. Taunt + Bulk Up sets allowed it to muscle past its few counters and it matched up extremely well into the rest of the meta.

:sv/noivern:Noivern is one of the scariest wallbreakers and stallbreakers currently thanks to STAB Boomburst and, more importantly, its ability to change type via Terastallization. However, even without Terastallization Noivern would be an overly restricting threat as it can change up its STABs to run Dragon-type Boomburst to get around one of its few regular switch-ins in Garganacl. This also excludes its ability to run Super Fang + Boomburst, which is restrictive in of itself as it allows Noivern to potentially beat any wall with recovery 1v1. Overall, this was deemed too much for the metagame to handle and was promtly banned.

:sv/iron-bundle:Iron Bundle is as crazy as it was in OU, bolstering one of the best STAB combos in Water and Freeze-Dry. This, along with its incredible 136 Speed, was enough to push Iron Bundle into the top eschalons of the metagame, but fails to include its viable items in Booster Energy, Choice Specs, Choice Scarf, and Heavy-Duty Boots to push it over the boundary. With a lot of games' main goals simply trying to find out Iron Bundle's item, games became increasingly linear during the early stages of the battle. While this was bearable in some games, the way it forced games and teams to build and play around it was considered immensely unhealthy for the metagame and thus was banned.

:sv/espathra:Espathra is one of the most terrifying sweepers with the potent combination of Speed Boost + Calm Mind and Stored Power. However, what pushes it over the edge is its ability to change the type of Stored Power to whatever it wants. Steel-types have to fear Fighting-type Stored Power, while Priority users have to watch out for less common types such as Steel. This quality made Espathra too dificult to reliably check and so was it banned.

Can we have Wicked Blow? We have wicked blow at home. Wicked Blow at home:
Meowscarada @ Choice Band
Ability: Overgrow
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Flower Trick
- U-turn
- Play Rough

I realized with how Protean works, you’d have to have Flower Trick in the first slot, manually change to a dark type and go from there. Although with Tera you could have a Flower Trick of whichever type.

I am here to report that CC and rain are kinda broken, as well as tera and poltea but mainly the first two. https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9anythinggoes-1869272469

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9anythinggoes-1869264839
https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen9revelationmons-1864574793
I'm gonna be honest, idt a not very effective physical move should ever 2hko a Dozo or Pex after hazards and one shot roaring moon like ever, with the only real thing stoping barra and others being priority and some physical walls I don't see how CC is at all balenced, same for rain tho not as much as pex, Dozo, and most likey the slow twins can handle it. But then there's tera that makes all of them really only checks to rain which can be used as an argument against tera being balenced. Finally poltea, probably would also be a pretty big problem (beyond the fact that I threw at the end) as it can set up and sweep teams like it did last gen but a little worse has ting-lu, kingambit, and clodsire exists now.

Edit: Two more replay's :)

HOME IS HERE and as a result we have voted on the newest Pokemon, along with some old bans and faces. As Ducky is still LOA for at least the time being, we have excluded his opportunity to vote. While we don't know how the metagame will shape, we most certainly know that these Pokemon would be a point of contention, and no matter the outcome would be placed on a watchlist. All votes were done together, but have been separately listed as to not confuse them. All bans (and unbans) were prefaced on that a large majority vote (60%+) would be required for a legal to be banned and vice versa, unless they were clearly broken like Groudon and Kyogre. All Pokemon that the OU council voted on were also included, but almost all of them were in some way going to be included no matter what, except Cyclizar because we forgot. oops

SOO we may or may not have forgotten to ban Spectrier, so it's gone. It was meant to be anyway, and nobody noticed it until a whole month later. Tagging Kris for implementation.

On bluer news, both kenn and UT have left the council, while Ducky is MIA. We wish them good luck with their future endeavours.

UPDATED BANLIST
After much deliberation, we have elected to BAN TERA and change availability of the following Pokemon:

Banned Pokemon
Basculegion
Dragapult
Kommo-o
Polteageist
Roaring Moon

and all Ubers-tier Pokemon except:

Unbanned Pokemon
Annihilape
Espathra
Regieleki
Urshifu-Rapid-Strike
Volcarona
Zamazenta-Crowned

Additionally, we are moving from Sleep Moves Clause (no sleep moves are allowed) to Sleep Clause (only 1 opposing Pokemon can be put to sleep).

We will be keeping a close eye on the newly unbanned Pokemon, new Pokemon introduced from DLC, and the move Close Combat.
