Introduction

The Retro Cup of Pokemon features all of the tiers missing from the World Cup of Pokemon. This year, the tournament will feature RBY OU, GSC OU, ADV OU, DPP OU, BW OU, ORAS OU, and SM OU. Each team will be required to have 7 players and a minumum of 3 and maximum of 4 substitutes. Team formation and qualification priority will be given to RCoP 2021 qualifiers, then any WCoP teams not in RCoP, then completely new teams.

Qualifying rounds will be created if there are more than 16 team entrants. Qualifying rounds will be full 7 vs 7 matchups, with RBY being best-of-three (first to two wins) and every other tier being best-of-one. For the first round, players will be randomly assigned into four groups of four for each generation, with the top 8 teams with the most collected wins proceeding to the next round. The seeding tiebreak will be the highest ranking points (6 points for sole first, 4 points for sole second, and 2 points for sole third) within the group and randomization as the secondary tiebreaker. Round 2, Semifinals, and Finals will follow the same format as qualifying rounds.

Expected returning teams (based on RCoP 2021 peformance):
Argentina
Brazil
Canada
China
Europe
France
Germany
Italy
Oceania
Spain
UK
US Northeast
USSR

Team Latin America, Team US South, and Team Asia, as well as any other team that signs up that were not in Round 1 of RCoP 2021 will have to play in qualifiers for their chance to participate in RCoP 2022. All teams wishing to play in qualifying should send rosters to one of the hosts (DYA, Sificon, Saurav the great) by the deadline to determine eligibility for qualifying.

Captain signups will close June 12th at 11:59 AM GMT -4. Signups for players for qualifying teams will go up the same day.
