Rate of the Month
RotM is a project that looks to bring quality individual rates into the spotlight and recognise the hard work of unbadged raters.

Concept
  • Every month, official Team Raters will monitor the rates posted in their respective tiers.
  • A few will be chosen that the RMT staff feel exemplify the qualities of an excellent rate.
  • These rates will be posted in this thread, along with a paragraph explaining why the particular rate won. This will allow aspiring raters to gain an idea of what constitutes high-quality rates, and hopefully incorporate those aspects into their own rates.
  • Official Team Raters are eligible to win, but unbadged raters will have priority.
Prizes
  • Winners will earn a place in the Hall of Fame, which will be kept in the OP of every thread, and will earn more consideration for the Ladybug
    and Team Rater
    badges.
  • After gaining three places in the Hall of Fame, a rater will be eligible to earn voice status in the RMT room on PS! on the condition that they've shown an interest in getting involved.
We hope that this project will encourage people to put more effort into their rates and become better and more experienced raters, consequently increasing the quality of rates posted in the forum. Good luck to you all!

Congrats to vivalospride and Snowy for winning Rate of the Month of September and posting awesome rates in their tiers!

vivalospride starts off his rate by suggesting Mega Aggron over Blissey. Not only does this provide a Steel-Type that deals with Latias like Blissey does, but it is also not beaten by physical Fight-Types which means Mega Aggron can 1v1 the likes of Choice Band Terrakion. This change also greatly improves the team's matchup vs Mega Sharpedo since Mega Aggron takes a very little from Waterfall or Crunch. Last but not least, this gives Roar support which is very nice combined with Toxic Spikes. He then suggests Z Focus Blast Togekiss over Latias which helps the team beat stall and fat teams in general easier. It also definitely fixes the Komm-o and Hydreigon matchup, the latter being a threat with the removal of Blissey.

vivalospride decides to change Knock Off over Haze on Tentacruel which lets it safely check Scizor. That allows Kyurem to run Earth Power over Hidden Power Fire too. His last suggestion is Stone Edge over Fire Fang on Krookodile which is important in order to kill Moltres.

Snowy aka The Champ starts off his rate by pointing out current weaknesses of the team such as Zygarde, Kartana, Mega Alakazam, Mega Charizard X, Volcarona and Mega Lopunny. He also notices that the team relies too much on Tangrowth to check both physical and special threats. His first change tries to fix that by replacing Heatran with an Assault Vest Magearna which deals with most Psychic-Types and Fairy-Types as well as Ash Greninja. Thanks to Volt Switch, Magearna can also ease Victini's time to setup.

The pursuit support provided by Weavile is a great idea but a bulkier pursuit trapper that can switch into Mega Latios or Mega Latias is better, that's why Snowy decides to change that Weavile for Mega Tyranitar. First, It also is an amazing pursuit user that comes in safely versus what it needs to trap and it also setups Stealth Rocks which were needed with the deletion of Heatran. Secondly, Mega Tyranitar provides useful defensive utility by checking two previous threats in Volcarona and Mega Charizard X but also a great answer to Heatran and Zapdos.

Snowy's last major change in Landorus-Therian over Hoopa-U gives some appreciated Speed control as well as a valuable Ground-Type. He rounds off his rate by making Tangrowth physically defensive with the Rocky Helmet which transforms it into a more consistent counter to Kartana, Tapu Bulu, Zygarde and Mega Lopunny.

Keep it up for next month raters!
