Im new to the competitive side of pokemon. I want to get good. Here's my take on a balanced team. Any suggestions or comments are welcomed. Please be constructive and give specific examples of what I could do perhaps instead. Thanks, I really appreciate it!
The team...
Gyarados @ Leftovers
Ability: Moxie
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Ice Fang
- Waterfall
Moxie Gyarados is the core of my team. My main goal is to set up a sweep for him. Once he gets rolling, there's no stopping him. I think he has good coverage.
Starmie @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
- Ice Beam
- Psychic
- Surf
- Thunderbolt
Starmie is beefy with natural cure and leftovers. Very good revenge killer. Very diverse coverage.
Lucario @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Extreme Speed
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
Lucario is my second attack damage sweeper. Swords dance and extreme speed make a devastating combo with life orb. Bullet punch checks fairies.
Gengar @ Gengarite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Sludge Bomb
- Shadow Ball
- Destiny Bond
- Focus Blast
Gengar is a solid special sweeper. His mega evolution with his speed can sweep hard. Destiny bond can change an entire battle. Sludge is good against those dang fairies.
Forretress @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SAtk
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Stealth Rock
- Volt Switch
- Rapid Spin
- Earthquake
Rapid spinner. Stealth Rock. He is a solid scout with volt switch, but he can always lay down the stealth rock hazard (which will make a gyarados sweep later much easier).
Garchomp @ Choice Band
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Fire Fang
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Outrage
I had a lot of weakness to electric on my team. Garchomp is super strong with a choice band. I'd say his only weakness is he could be outsped by some faster dragons, otherwise, he can two or one hit KO most pokemon.
