Basically approved by Lutra

Welcome to RoA's own iteration of Victim of the Week. Hopefully this project will help gather information and spread knowledge of checks and counters to popular Pokemon in the tiers.

How it works
Each week I will nominate a Pokemon as VotW. You guys will need to nominate a Pokemon to either check or counter the VotW (make sure to state which in post).
The submission phase will last 5 days and the voting phase will last 2 days each cycle.
The "Hall of Fame" will be a ladder system with the winner getting 3 points each week, 2nd place getting 2, and 3rd place getting 1. Plus your sets will be archived.
Each 5 weeks, User with most points goes to the "Hall of Fame."

Rules
1. Follow the definitions for checks and counters in The Smog issue #32.
2. Please make sure to explain the set. Doesn't need to be long just make sure people know why its a check / counter. Preferably with calcs
3. Reservations only last 12 hours, don't john.
4. Different sets of the same Pokemon can be nominated.
5. Don't be toxic, if someone posts a 'bad' set help them out instead of flaming.
6. Make sure Pokemon is on the VR

Fuck good Mons, its much more fun to counter stuff with Unmons:

Breloom as a counter! (was planning to post Sandslash, but then realized its only a Counter in practice due to Sand Veil, in theory its just a check).

Mr. Hongo (Breloom) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Effect Spore
EVs: 52 HP / 252 Atk / 204 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Spore
- Focus Punch
- Brick Break
- Hidden Power [Ghost]

200+ Atk Tyranitar Rock Slide vs. 52 HP / 0 Def Breloom: 80-95 (29.1 - 34.6%) -- 8.9% chance to 3HKO after sandstorm damage and Leftovers recovery
200+ Atk Tyranitar Hidden Power Bug vs. 52 HP / 0 Def Breloom: 100-118 (36.4 - 43%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after sandstorm damage and Leftovers recovery
+1 200+ Atk Tyranitar Rock Slide vs. 52 HP / 0 Def Breloom: 119-141 (43.4 - 51.4%) -- 8.2% chance to 2HKO after sandstorm damage and Leftovers recovery
+1 200+ Atk Tyranitar Hidden Power Bug vs. 52 HP / 0 Def Breloom: 149-176 (54.3 - 64.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after sandstorm damage and Leftovers recovery

Tyranitar can only Win this is if it dances on the switch and flinches with Rock Slide or crits with HP Bug. ( Breloom can still avoid it with Band Mach Punch, but the above set is better).
Putting Ice Beam doesn,t save it either:
0- SpA Tyranitar Ice Beam vs. 52 HP / 0 SpD Breloom: 178-210 (64.9 - 76.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after sandstorm damage and Leftovers recovery

(Fire Blast does have a chance to kill Loom with Sandstorm, but is very rare on DD sets. Aerial Ace obviously kills, but is a move that makes difference only for Breloom and Heracross).

Meanwhile, Breloom easily OHKOs Tar with Brick Break or (if Tar hasn,t danced) puts to sleep a Switch-In to start smashing shit with Fight STAB and Ghost coverage.

Ninjask @ Choice Band
Adamant Nature
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
- Baton Pass
- Substitute
- Hidden Power Fighting
- Swords Dance

Everyone says "just click dd twice with tar." Well, here's the one mon, other than the unviable cb mach breloom, that can outspeed and ohko tyranitar after 2 boosts.

Relevant calcs:
+2 200+ Atk Tyranitar Hidden Power Bug vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Ninjask: 153-181 (58.1 - 68.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after sandstorm damage
+2 200+ Atk Tyranitar Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Ninjask: 0%
Tyranitar Dragon Dance vs. Ninjask: 0-0 (0 - 0%) -- Nice move

252+ Atk Choice Band Ninjask Hidden Power Fighting vs. 16 HP / 120 Def Tyranitar: 326-384 (94.4 - 111.3%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery

Usage tips: Pair with magneton. Can bluff an item like leichi or lum by clicking swords dance early in the game. Make sure you stay above 70% so that you can survive the hp bug you switch in on, and proceed to sweep the rest of the enemy team.

Downsides: If your opponent made their tar set more recently than 2017, their tar will likely exceed your 418 speed at +2, but that doesn't seem relevant to this thread.

Legendario (Registeel) @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 220 HP / 144 Def / 136 SpD / 8 Spe
Careful Nature
- Seismic Toss
- Thunder Wave
- Counter
- Rest

It lives every attack from +2 DDTar and can Counter at +0/+1/+2 to OHKO. It also has TWave for Utility and Rest for longevity.
Aditionally, it can Counter Hidden Power :O

Relevant calcs:

+2 200+ Atk Tyranitar Earthquake vs. 220 HP / 144 Def Registeel: 300-354 (84.2 - 99.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 200+ Atk Tyranitar Rock Slide vs. 220 HP / 144 Def Registeel: 84-99 (23.5 - 27.8%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 200+ Atk Tyranitar Hidden Power Bug vs. 220 HP / 144 Def Registeel: 52-62 (14.6 - 17.4%) -- possible 9HKO after Leftovers recovery
Tyranitar Dragon Dance vs. Registeel: 0-0 (0 - 0%) -- nice move
