Project Dream World

Theorymon originally had a lot of words here about how Ubers is stale, which is entirely opposite to the Dream World metagame. With DW changing radically due to the upcoming Black and White 2, many new sets are going to be discovered.

[box]Much like the old Project Ubers thread from Stark Mountain, this thread aims to be a creative movesets thread... except this is Project Ubers 2.0, which means that it's going to be a creative movesets thread that actually has a goal! This project's goal is to get all of us here is to test out, discuss, and explore new Uber sets, strategies, and niches, and then slowly build up a massive database (located in the 2nd post) of the great movesets and Pokemon that deserve more attention![/box]

Rules

  1. You must actually test out the sets you post! I know its really tempting to say "I HAVE A REALLY COOL IDEA FOR A SET", but lots of sets look cool on paper, that doesn't mean they actually work! If your post shows obvious signs of not testing the set, it will get deleted! Commenting on sets you haven't tested in response to other posts is fine though.
  2. When you post your sets, don't just post a set without a short description, people need to know the selling points of the set! Keep in mind that the set database will be organized into 3 distinct sections, remember these sections because they will affect the content of your post!

    • Creative Movesets. These posts work a lot like they would in a normal creative movesets thread, so just include the selling points of the moveset and/or Pokemon.

    • Standard Movesets with a TWIST. These are the kind of movesets that, while being similar to a standard moveset, make a modification that dramatically affects the Pokemon playstyle. This is mainly for stuff like a standard moveset having a unique item that has major selling points over the standard item, an EV spread that accomplishes a different goal, or a new move or two that alters the Pokemon's playstyle. Focus on how that small modification benefits the Pokemon in ways the regular item, moves, or ev spread can't achieve, and how this Pokemon's playstyle changes when compared to their standard set.

    • Under Rated Movesets / Pokemon. There are several sets and mons out there that are well known to already work, but for some reason or another, just aren't used much, or have dramatically fallen in usage. When posting these sets, first focus on why you think the Pokemon's usage is low or why it has dropped so much. After that, give reasons for why you think this Pokemon is under rated. Think about answering questions like "Are there serious advantages to this Pokemon that most people miss?", "Does this Pokemon just need a specialized strategy to show its true potential?", and "How do you overcome the weaknesses that make this Pokemon's usage low?"
  3. Think before you post! If you're post is totally useless to the thread, it'll get deleted!

THE DATABASE

This is a database of all the sets that have been posted in this thread and proven to be viable. Check out this post every week or so, DW mods will update this post a lot with new sets.

Creative Movesets

Calm Mind Latias

Latias (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 92 HP / 164 SpA / 252 Spe
Nature: Timid (+Spe, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Psyshock
- Dragon Pulse / Surf
- Recover

Opposing Keldeos and Water-types seem to hurt us a lot just as much as Electric-types. There is no way in hell is Keldeo ever getting past the magnificent specimen known as Latias. She can easily switch in, Calm Mind once or twice and then just lay down death with Psyshock. Latias can also easily set up on other rain team Pokemon, such as Zapdos, Politoed, Rotom-W, as well as being a pretty fine check to Breloom.

The EVs allow Latias to always OHKO Keldeo with Psyshock at +1, and you can always just CM up in its face, so you don't really need to OHKO at +0. It also makes sure that can actually OHKO 0/0 Dragonite after SR at +0 with Dragon Pulse, unlike the standard OU set on-site. However, if you don't like the Psyshock / Dragon Pulse coverage, Surf could go over Dragon Pulse to abuse the rain, I suppose.

Standard Movesets with a Twist

Focus Sash Tyranitar

Tyranitar (M) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Crunch
- Superpower
- Stone Edge
- Protect

This set is designed as the ultimate Excadrill/Terrakion/Genesect lure. +6 Excadrill going to sweep you? Double Dance Terrakion got all set up? No sweat, just bring this thing in and Superpower them away. If you always get outpredicted by Scarf Genesect, or any other Choice item user, then Protect can help you out. If it used U-turn, switch out to a Bug resist to take the hit. If it picked one of its coverage moves, none of which bother any Tyranitar, then stay in and smash either Genesect or a switch-in with a powerful Stone Edge. Crunch 2HKOes Reuniclus while living through a Focus Blast with ease, while also stalling out all 5 turns of Trick Room if you happen to switch Tyranitar in while Reuniclus uses it. If your team needs a Pokemon that is an unorthodox catch-all revenge killer, Focus Sash Tyranitar is your dinosaur.

Under Rated Movesets / Pokemon

Relic Song Meloetta

Meloetta @ Expert Belt
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 64 Atk / 252 SpA / 192 Spe
Nature: Hasty (+Spe, -Def)
- Relic Song
- Close Combat
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power Ice

Basically, the idea of the set is to set up multiple layers of hazards, and then spam Relic Song to force switches. Counters to Meloetta-A tend to be weak to Meloetta-P (Blissey, Snorlax, Tyranitar), while counters to Meloetta-P tend to be weak to Meloetta-A (Skarmory, Gliscor). The idea is to spam Relic Song and keep changing forms and stay one step ahead of the opposition. With these games going on, you can probably HP Ice a Gliscor or something like that and secure a sweep for Excadrill and stuff. With Fighting resists removed, Meloetta-P can handily clean up teams by itself as well. The EVs used let you outspeed Adamant Lucario as Meloetta-A and Alakazam as Meloetta-P.

Parasect @ Leftovers
Trait: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Spore
- Leech Seed
- Protect
- Substitute / X-Scissor

This Parasect is supposed to take on common threats. Keldeo, Thundurus, Breloom, Rotom-W and rain teams in general are all common threats and thanks to its typing combined with Dry Skin Parasect can take them on pretty solidly. Thanks to Leech Seed, Dry Skin and Protect, Keldeo isn't 2HKOing Parasect with any move it has even after a Calm Mind or if it's a Specs set. Thundurus can't 2HKO this at +2 even with Life Orb if it doesn't carry Hidden Power Ice, and if it doesn't have a Nasty Plot up Parasect can take Hidden Power Ice solidly as well. Breloom's STAB moves are both resisted and even at +2 with a Life Orb it can't KO with a five roll Bullet Seed. Unless it rolls a minimum of four times with good damage rolls it can't 2HKO either, and Mach Punch never 2HKOes either. Rain teams without something with a powerful Ice Beam or Hurricane also have problems with this guy, since it heals with Dry Skin and also is immune to Water-type attacks. This guy is best used in rain for more recovery, and it is also able to stall with SubProtect and Leech Seed, similarly to SubProtect Gliscor, and also has Spore to take down Breloom and the likes.

Dugtrio @ Liechi Berry
Trait: Arena Trap
EVs: 8 HP / 248 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature (+Spe, -SAtk)
- Substitute
- Earthquake
- Sucker Punch / Stone Edge
- Reversal

Although rarely used in standard OU and facing competition from chandelure as a trapped in DW, dugtrio has a niche beyond even chandelure in that it functions incredibly well as a trapper for weather starters. This set is best used on rain teams, as dugtrio easily KOs every weather starter but politoed (with the exception of hippowdon, who is nowhere near as common as tyranitar). Furthermore, Dugtrio provides a huge disincentive to the opponent to use electric moves, especially when choiced.

The main problem with dugtrio is that its attack stat is very lackluster, missing out on KOs such as full-health tyranitar even with a super-effective STAB earthquake, which prompts many users to use a choice band set. This is not ideal, however, especially since dugtrio's STAB has a type immune to it. This set attempts to remedy this by having dugtrio sub down into liechi range and then attempt a sweep. This also gives it access to a maximum-power reversal, giving it almost perfect coverage along it's coverage move. Furthermore, dugtrio easily OHKOs tyranitar once in liechi range with either earthquake or reversal. If dugtrio is used to take out the opponent's weather starter, it can then come in again once the weather has been changed and sub down to liechi range without fear of chlorophyll or sand rush users, giving it a legitimate chance at sweeping. EVs give dugtrio 4 substitutes.

Zapdos @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Lightningrod
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Thunder
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power Ice
- Ancient Power / U-turn

This is a set I've been testing extensively, and while it may not seem apparent, its aim is to wait until opposing Ground-types are taken out and then sweep. It's meant for rain teams that usually need an Electric immunity, and Lightningrod grants just that. The EVs allow it to Speed-tie threats such as Choice Scarf Jirachi, Choice Scarf Salamence, and some others, as does the Timid nature. Volt Switch works when the opponent sends out a threat that Zapdos cannot beat, while Hidden Power Ice provides pseudo BoltBeam coverage. Ancient Power is mostly filler, but one can run U-turn in its stead in order to preserve momentum against obvious Ground-type switch-ins. Again, once opposing Ground-types are gone, you want to be only using Thunder, as it hits like a truck. This set is best when run with Rapid Spin support and hazard support, something that every rain team should carry anyways.

Suicune @ Choice Specs
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature (+SpA, -Atk)
- Surf
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Hidden Power [Grass] / Hidden Power [Electric]

I feel that Suicune has a current niche in the metagame right now. Fifth Generation's Dream World introduced Water Absorb which is quite an asset to Suicune, especially in Dream World. With Rain still being a very viable option, it buffs up Suicune's STAB moves, meaning not a lot will want to switch in to a Rain Boosted Specs Hydro Pump. It also allows Suicune to switch in safely on powerful Surfs / Hydro Pumps from common Rain threats. One thing I love about this set is the sheer unpredictability of this set. Suicune is rarely used in Dream World, and when people see it, they expect Calm Mind versions. In turn, they often send in their Special Walls, only to get 2HKO'd on the switch in. Water Absorb also means Suicune can maintain it's health with correct prediction, to compensate for the lack of Rest. The moveset is pretty self explanatory, dual STAB is a must on this set, while Ice Beam hits Dragons that want to switch in to resist a predicted Water move. Hidden Powers are personal preference, Grass gives you the edge against Gastrodon and the like, while Electric still hits bulky waters hard while maintaining psuedo BoltBeam coverage in conjunction with Ice Beam.

Alright, my turn!

Excadrill @ Chople Berry
Trait: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Aerial Ace

Basically your standard Excadrill, only with a couple twists on it that, in my opinion, make it much more effective. The first of these is the Chople Berry. With a Chople Berry, Excadrill will no longer be revenge killed by the likes of Breloom (which it can revenge kill instead, despite taking heavy damage in the process) and Conkeldurr (provided Excadrill is at +2), taking a maximum of 58.17% from Conkeldurr's LO-boosted Mach Punch, while taking a maximum of 68.98% from Breloom. It can set up on Jolly Scarf Terrakion even if it's locked into Close Combat as long as rocks are off the field. Aerial Ace, on the other hand, allows Excadrill to OHKO Breloom without any boosts, and is also helpful for dealing with Air Balloon Terrakion.

Tyranitar (M) @ Chople Berry
Trait: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Atk / 124 Def / 92 SDef
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Pursuit
- Crunch
- Stealth Rock
- Roar

I don't know if this is considered standard or standard with a twist, because it's an "option" that is rarely seen on Tyranitar. Many Pokemon try to set up on Tyranitar, which makes Roar the perfect choice. I love roar Tyranitar and have been using it in DW OU and DW OU. Roar also allows Tyranitar to possibly roar in a Pokemon weak to Stealth Rocks before they are spun away. I usually use a defensive Tyranitar so I can roar out most +1 attack Pokemon. If you have more than 300 (stat) def on Tyranitar and max hp then you can live +1 attacks from Haxorus, Dragonite, Salamence, and with max Hp Gyarados even! Life Orbed sweepers often do enough to KO after rocks and + 1, but not necessarily full health Tyranitar.
