"Real Emo" only consists of the dc Emotional Hardcore scene and the late 90's Screamo scene. What is known by "Midwest Emo" is nothing but Alternative Rock with questionable real emo influence. When people try to argue that bands like My Chemical Romance are not real emo, while saying that Sunny Day Real Estate is, I can't help not to cringe because they are just as fake emo as My Chemical Romance (plus the pretentiousness). Real emo sounds ENERGETIC, POWERFUL and somewhat HATEFUL. Fake emo is weak, self pity and a failed attempt to direct energy and emotion into music. Some examples of REAL EMO are Pg 99, Rites of Spring, Cap n Jazz (the only real emo band from the midwest scene) and Loma Prieta. Some examples of FAKE EMO are American Football, My Chemical Romance and Mineral EMO BELONGS TO HARDCORE NOT TO INDIE, POP PUNK, ALT ROCK OR ANY OTHER MAINSTREAM GENRE

postmodern philosophy exists and is difficult to describe but could be considered 'a set of critical, strategic and rhetorical practices employing concepts such as difference, repetition, the trace, the simulacrum, and hyperreality to destabilize other concepts such as presence, identity, historical progress, epistemic certainty, and the univocity of meaning' (sep's definition) or similarly a critical move against the modernist project to undermine universal claims the latter makes. this can have implications that affect worldview significantly.
postmodern philosophy definitely exists and there are definitely people who use its tools.
it's also very much a good thing imo, and idt it's honest to dismiss it out of hand.

I am not a practising Christian but I prefer the Christmas that has something to do with the story of Jesus compared to the over-commercialiced celebration of consumption and capitalism that modern day Christmas is

I mean its so stupid. Its really just a feast for companies to make more money, it has no real meaning behind it. What should be a calm and peaceful celebration with the family ends up being a stressful and squeaky clean, fake event. The fact that Christmas is still equated with Wintertime and snow when the extreme consumerism and capitalism that happens during it basically ended these two things

The fact that people are bombarbed with Christmas for months on end at every step they walk isn't much better
Sorry doggo, but this is a somewhat common opinion, not as much as "wth is Black Friday" but it still pops up sometimes.
You did, however, give me a revelation: Valentine's Day. And other days too, but Valentine's Day is the first I can think of.
What would the actual Valentine think of men being guilt-tripped for not having a gf?

Also, saints are really cool because they are associated with a bunch of random things. Back to Saint Valentine, did you know he's also the patron saint of beekeepers and folks with epilepsy?

Zubada (the cavemen parody of Gitchee Gitchee Goo) is better than the actual Gitchee Gitchee Goo in terms of Phineas and Ferb songs. I love the buildup, the alternate made-up language gimmick makes it stand out, and, oh yeah, the big one: it's not the verbalization of 1970s porno music snuck into a show primarily aimed at children (shout out to TV Tropes) though I don't judge for the most part as I'm 25 and still love the show. Fun fact: Zubada was Alyson Stoner's (Isabella's VA) personal favorite musical number for the show, so at least I'm not the only one who likes it.

Gitchee Gitchee Goo is still a classic, and without it, we wouldn't have had the near-legendary (and often big-lipped alligator moment) musical numbers almost once per episode in the first place, but Zubada is just great.

I’m not saying Teen Titans Go is good with this post, but I want to say it anyway.

I overall really like the original Teen Titans. It’s one of the few shows that can do mood whiplash really well due to a really great crew behind it. But I also think it has some problems. The fifth season (granted, it was unplanned) has never really done anything for me. How do you go from Slade (mostly) teamed up with literal devil to a brain in a jar?

The signature mood whiplash, while it works for me, could also be called a lack of sincerity by others. I mean, yes, going from Larry turning the world into a cartoon universe followed by a best friend’s backstabbing and subsequent lava bathing may be intriguing, but it also creates tonal imbalance.

The point I’m getting at is that people often stereotype the original show as a super-serious cartoon when it was actually pretty goofy - most prominent but not entirely exclusive to the bizarro episodes beside more plot-driven ones - “Employee of the Month” being placed near serious ones like “Birthmark.” This worked because they had the powerhouse DCAU (sorta, I know it’s not technically part of the DCAU) crew working on it, who knew when to reel both the silly and serious back in when necessary. Teen Titans Go is merely an extension of the goofy.

Now, would I want an OG Teen Titans revival? Absolutely (if they can do something new and exciting with it)! Do I prefer OG over Go? Also yes. But claiming Go and OG don’t have any similarities at all I think is forgetting that the original show was pretty juvenile - the writing was just so good most people didn’t notice.

Double post but who cares in a thread like this, honestly?

I actually kind of like Mystery Land in Mario Party 2.

Okay, okay, why do people dislike this board? It's simple: it's basically Wario's Battle Canyon from the first game again with some tweaks. Meaning you have to rely on Happening Spaces, Skeleton Keys (to opposite islands iirc), and potentially backfiring warps to get from one island to another. Sure, it's not convenient, but I mean...it's Mario Party. Luck has kinda always been a thing with this series.

One thing that is enjoyable about this board is the visual variety. We have a pyramid, an island with a pond, Stonehenge basically, and some ruins with soil in them. While the aesthetic of the other boards is nicely unified, this one keeps things fresh visually.

And I don't know about you, but I always seem to have decent enough luck on this board anyway. If you are good enough at minigames you should still be able to buy items fine, and Magic Lamp says "screw you gimmick" and bypasses it so it's not like they don't give you plenty of outs, and the Ai also has to suffer this randomness too. It's not blatantly unfair like say, Bowser Party in Mario Party 10.

All the boards in 2 are roughly the same flavor of good to me. Sure, this one might be a little more random than the others, but it's by no means the worst offender of this in the series I don't think (while I've never played it, King Boo's Haunted Hideaway from Mario Party 8 sounds infinitely worse with the rogue-like 1 in 3 for Star gimmick and the board reshuffling every time a Star is obtained, which also sounds interesting to me).

I'm glad that there isn't a Bug/Dragon type pokemon.
idk how i feel about this in general but im definitely glad it's not yanmega

my hot take: garchomp is mid, edgy dragon energy w awkward clumsy ugly shark features, "generic cool" vibe like infernape that hits diff when youre 14 vs when youre an adult

a big reason mega garchomp is weird and ?not that exciting? is just that it's based off garchomp, and where do you go from there? red scythes leaning into the edge is a good choice tho. better design than garchomp overall imo

other stuff

It's weird how frequently astrology gets clowned on vs how frequently religion gets respected. My intention is "this partial inconsistency is odd" as opposed to "i have specific opinions on how these should be treated." I get there are differences: new age stuff is often more, well new, for example. But like, astrology is thousands of years old, yeah? I of course know there are other differences too, but if any are enough to render this take vapid, let me know.

It's weird how normalized casual anti-american bigotry is on the internet.

I hate gen5 music's soundfont and therefore dislike most of its music. unlike most other takes i post, this is purely my personal opinion with zero claim to semi-objectivity.

(my response is also intended to be a hot take)

The quoted sentiment is overemphasized. Families dont need the excuse of capitalism to be fakey, and the story of jesus has often been used as an excuse to violently beat nonconforming religious people into submission. Modern day christmases exist on a wide spectrum from more genuine to less, and while the capitalism around christmas can be gross, i don't think it makes things... particularly hard to for a person to be genuine if they want to? If a calm and peaceful family event is "sincere" for you, go for it, if a fun and energetic gift exchange is "sincere" for you, similarly have fun. Having fun and energy is good!

Excessive fakey consumerism is bad, but familial calm can certainly be "squeaky clean" fakey sometimes, too. "Buying things for people on a day" does not excessive consumerism make, at least on its own. Modern day christmas providing an excuse for family reuniting and goodwill already gives a lot of meaning for a lot of people, and pushing that aside to claim modern day christmas "has no real meaning" feels like a very confident soapbox on questionable flooring.

Recent events in the world of animation have indisputably proven the hatewatching/ragebait industrial complex is real. Big media companies cordon off a block of their output to be deliberately infuriatingly bad so that Big Angry Review Men profit off them in front of audiences of millions. I am not at the point of being conspiratorial enough to say they are consciously working together, but the symbiosis is legit.
