Double post but who cares in a thread like this, honestly?
I actually kind of like Mystery Land in Mario Party 2.
Okay, okay, why do people dislike this board? It's simple: it's basically Wario's Battle Canyon from the first game again with some tweaks. Meaning you have to rely on Happening Spaces, Skeleton Keys (to opposite islands iirc), and potentially backfiring warps to get from one island to another. Sure, it's not convenient, but I mean...it's Mario Party. Luck has kinda always been a thing with this series.
One thing that is enjoyable about this board is the visual variety. We have a pyramid, an island with a pond, Stonehenge basically, and some ruins with soil in them. While the aesthetic of the other boards is nicely unified, this one keeps things fresh visually.
And I don't know about you, but I always seem to have decent enough luck on this board anyway. If you are good enough at minigames you should still be able to buy items fine, and Magic Lamp says "screw you gimmick" and bypasses it so it's not like they don't give you plenty of outs, and the Ai also has to suffer this randomness too. It's not blatantly unfair like say, Bowser Party in Mario Party 10.
All the boards in 2 are roughly the same flavor of good to me. Sure, this one might be a little more random than the others, but it's by no means the worst offender of this in the series I don't think (while I've never played it, King Boo's Haunted Hideaway from Mario Party 8 sounds infinitely worse with the rogue-like 1 in 3 for Star gimmick and the board reshuffling every time a Star is obtained, which also sounds interesting to me).
