substitute victini

:ss/victini:
Victini @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe

Hasty Nature
- Substitute

- Bolt Strike
- V-create

- Glaciate

Sub Victini is a great choice as a partner for Nihilego, as it doesnt struggle with Steel-types like Ferrothorn and it can help Nihilego in breaking through ulky ground-types such as Garchomp and Landorus-t with Glaciate. It also can help with its STAB V-create to get rid off other problematic Pokemon such as Melmetal to soften the path up and to easen the way for Nihilego. Victini is also a great check to Tapu Lele and Kyurem which Nihilego would otherwise struggle with. Victini can also help against Toxapex and Tapu Fini with a powerful Bolt Strike. Victini behind a Sub is not easy to deal with and the slight decline of Dragapults usage helps it further. Overall, these two are exceptional good partners and great choices in the current metagame making them greatly appreciating each other as a pairing on the field.

Urshifu Rapid

Urshifu-Rapid-Strike @ Choice Band
Ability: Unseen Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Surging Strikes
- Aqua Jet
- U-turn

What does Nihilego hate? Steel and Ground types. What breaks both of those? Urshifu. Pretty simple concept. Urshifu appreciates Nihilego breaking Tapu Fini, and Nihilego's defensive utility allows it to switch into the likes of Zapdos, Dragapult, and Tornadus-T which Urshifu greatly appreciates. Urshifu is a great wallbreaker as well, which allows Urshifu to break early game for Nihilego to sweep late game. Urshifu's U-Turn allows it to keep momentum and get Nihilego in when the opposing team is weakened. Since Urshifu breaks through Hippowdon, this allows Nihilego to drop Grass Knot and use Power Gem. Urshifu can switch into Pokemon that threatens Nihilego out like Heatran and Weavile.

Garchomp @ Leftovers/Yache Berry
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Aqua Tail
- Scale Shot

Aqua Tail Garchomp is a great lure Ground types that stop Nihilego from sweeping, beating checks like Lando-T, Hippo for Nihilego. They also together attempt to overwhelm Steel types like Corviknight and Ferrothorn

reserving offensive zapdos
:ss/zapdos:
Zapdos @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Static
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt / Heat Wave
- Hurricane
- Volt Switch

- Roost

Offensive Zapdos has made a name for itself in the current metagame, Thanks to its combination of power and defensive utility, and it makes for an amazing partner for the jellyfish thanks to those same traits, it forces damage on Ferrothorn, can pivot it in on special walls that Nihilego beats like Blissey, and weakens ground types like Garchomp, while also having a good synergy with Nihilego type wise, as its immune to ground .

Weavile @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Triple Axel
- Knock Off
- Ice Shard

Niheligo absolutely hates ground types as they have a 4x super effective move against it but, look at the ground types in OU. They absolutely get pummeled by +2 Triple axel. Additionally, niheligo beats tapu fini, one of weavile's best counters with +1 Sludge waves. Weavile fits perfectly with this thing.

For next week, we will feature a decent bulky Water type who sees some usage in the OU tier: Rotom-Wash.

rotom-wash.gif

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers / Rocky Helmet
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 168 Def / 88 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Pain Split / Defog
- Will-O-Wisp / Thunder Wave

Rotom-Wash is not the most common bulky Water type in OU but has a great niche for being able to pivot out with Volt Switch while threatening Rock setters like Landorus-T and Heatran with Hydro Pump. Defog can thus be used to come in against the aforementioned Rock setters and remove hazards as they are forced out. Pain Split is another option to make Rotom Wash way harder to wear down while annoying the opposing special walls like Blissey. The last moveslot can be either Will-O-Wisp or Thunder Wave to cripple physical attackers or slow down offensive threats. Leftovers are the item of choice, especially when you don’t run Pain Split, to give it a passive recovery and thus more staying power. Rocky Helmet can be an option too, mainly to punish moves like Urshifu’s Surging Strikes and Weavile’s Triple Axel. Who do you think are the best partners for this washing machine?

Submission phase will end on next Friday, good luck!

Red Raven

I COULD BE BANNED!
:sm/tornadus-therian:
Tornadus @ Heavy Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 92 Def / 168 Spe
Timid Nature
- Defog
- U turn
- Knock Off
- Heat Wave / Hurricane

Why use one switch move when you can use two? Really, just some decade old combo by now. One thing uses u turn and the other uses volt switch and they spam it to hell until the enemy player rips off their hair in frustration. Rotom's threat of wisp also ensures that Garchomp just doesn't turn this core into scale shot fodder, assuming it doesn't have lum berry of course. Also, hurricane is just a secondary option because that move is a fucking joke. Never hits at the most critical moment you need it to hit

Katy

Banned deucer.
:ss/melmetal:
Melmetal @ Assault Vest
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 128 HP / 116 Atk / 252 SpD / 12 Spe
Careful Nature

- Double Iron Bash
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch

- Thunder Punch / Superpower

Melmetal is an amazing teampartner, as it can check Dragapult, Kyurem, Tapu Koko and Tapu Lele, all of which can bring Rotom-W in great danger. In Return Rotom-W can help out against Ground-types like Landorus-T and Flying-types such as Tornadus-T and it can keep them in check for melmetal. Furthermore, Rotom-Ws ways of inflicting status can help Melmetal greatly. Melmetal can have a good chance with flinching with Double Iron Bash, when faster threats are paralyzed. Melmetals great way to deal damage onto Pokemon such as Ferrothorn is also appreciated by Rotom-W. In overall this core can deal a massive amount of damage and status on the opposition and can also check them defensively. melmetal + Rotom-W can easily overload many common Pokemon in the current metagame. And both are a good pairing to face common threats such as Weavile, Landorus-T, Toxapex, and the aforementioned Pokemon.

:ss/corviknight:
Corviknight @ Leftovers / Rocky Helmet
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 168 Def / 88 SpD
Impish Nature
- Body Press
- U-turn / Brave Bird / Iron Defense
- Defog
- Roost

Corviknight and Rotom-Wash have strong defensive synergy. Corviknight offers a Grass resistance, and can bring Rotom in with U-turn. In addition, Rotom appreciates Defog support, since the chip damage from hazards adds up quickly.

In return, Rotom offers a Fire resistance, and can bring in Corviknight with Volt Switch. It can also act as a backup hazard remover if Corviknight is taken out, or the opponent has a hazard setter that it can't Defog on (usually Heatran).

Scizor (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Technician
EVs: 244 HP / 60 Def / 204 SpD
Impish Nature
IVs: 30 Spe
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Roost

Classic Volt turn combo with types that beats each others checks. No further explanation needed.

blacephalon

:ss/blacephalon:
Blacephalon @ Choice Specs
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature

IVs: 0 Atk
- Flamethrower

- Shadow Ball
- Overheat
- Trick

our clown friend here appreciates rotom-wash for its ability to bring it in safely against some of its favourite victims such as ferrothorn and slowking-g, or draw out shared checks such as dragapult and blissey. rotom-w also threatens pretty much every rocker (barring ferro but that uses spikes) and can be the defogger of the team, but most importantly it puts pressure on ground types whose purpose is blocking volt switches thanks to stab hydro pump and potentially will-o-wisp, and bulky grounds happen to be blacephalon checks in bo/balance teams. lastly, rotom-wash offers a valuable switchin to ground types but also tornadus-t, one of the few faster blacephalon checks when packing assault vest.
