Battle Details:
Format
: 3v3 Singles (Gym Leader brings 6)
DQ: 72 hours
Substitutions: 3 per Pokemon
Switch: OK
Abilities: All
Items: On
Mega Evolutions: 1
Z-Moves: 1
Recoveries / Chills: Infinite
Arena: Peter's Purple Poison Public Pool for People and Pokemon - Challenge Mode Edition
Turn Order: Gym Leader sends out Pokemon first.
Effects:
- Default weather is Amplified Artificial Acid Rain. AAAR is kinda like normal rain, but with a lot of added effects. All of the effects are-
  • Boosts the BAP of Water moves by 3
  • Weakens the BAP of Psychic moves by 3
  • All Pokemon lose 1 HP per action unless they are Poison, Water, or Bug-type
  • Activates rain abilities
  • Does not weaken the power of weather based healing moves or Solar Beam
  • Can only be replaced by weather rocks
- Normal Poison now deals 3 damage per action, Toxic poison Starts at 2 DPA. Being around so much poison helps strengthen the effects poison, causing more damage.
- When a Pokemon is Poisoned, the Gastro Acid effect is put on the Pokemon for 6 actions. Resets if a poisoned Pokemon is switched out and comes back in still poisoned. The pool helps amplify the effects of poison, causing Pokemon to lose some of their special power for a little while.
- Fissure fails when used. How are you able to cause a Fissure in a pool?

Seems weird for a delicate Kimono Girl to willingly come to this toxic swamp, doesn't it? Just me? Okay. Today's match has well-known Poison Leader Yoshiblaze against well-known mentor Ooraloo! Yoshiblaze brought his usual stuff in Tentacruel, Drapion or Gengar, but a more surprise pick in Mollux, though that Pokémon was ultimately the bane of a certain familiar Zoroark cosplayer...
On the other sie of the field, Ooraloo brought a Steel-type, a Ground-type, and... a Steel/Ground-type. Going straight for the type advantage! A notable mon is Hippowdon, a somewhat rare sight. Will that thicc boi manage to bring the win home? Only one way to see!
...Now, where's my umbrella again?

This match begins in what i'd call traditional fashion as Yoshiblaze stalls for a round, trying to repel the menace that Metagross is. An unfortuante crit throws a wench in his plans, as does the RNG since Excadrill and not Hippowdon is sent out.
Right off the bat, a bad start for our Gym Leader. Nothing game-ending though, let's see how the second round goes.

Both Trainers knew this round would bring the pain, and boy did it deliver. Excadrill made sure to shatter Reflect before going full steam ahead with a very powerful Tectonic Rage, but that essentially wasted an action damage-wise, action that Venusaur made use of with a Weather Ball.
An Earthquake and another Weather Ball later, Venusaur is on the brink of KO, but Excadrill has been reduced to 1/3 of its health and could be easy prey for Tentacruel, Gengar or Nidoking if one of these would replace Venusaur.
Tight spot for Ooraloo, but Venusaur being gone would mean Hippowdon can breathe much easier, so maybe a trade worth the struggle?

One shuffle later and the rumored Hippowdon faces off Yoshiblaze's signature Pokémon (you know it's true at this point): Tentacruel.
Hippowdon does replace Yoshiblaze's curious rain with sand, boosting its moves in the process.
Both mons exchange powerful blows in the form of Earthquakes and Hydro Pumps respectively, but Yoshiblaze banked on luck with a Scald... and was actually rewarded for it since it lands a burn of Hippowdon, reducing its offensive prowess!
However, Hippowdon makes use of its 10 HP lead as it's just out of KO range, while Tentacruel will fall for the next Ground move headed its way. Metagross is also chilling in the back, waiting for its turn to strike, while Excadrill would love to play in the sand.
Now it's Yoshiblaze's turn to be in a pinch!

Whoa! What a way to draw first blood! Hippowdon just blew Tentacruel out of the pool with an Earthquake, but not before the squishy jellyfish managed to unleash a powerful Brine on the hippo, causing it to faint due to its burn!
That burn is really saving Yoshiblaze for now, but Metagross is looming, Venusaur dies in one hit and none of Yoshiblaze's other Pokémon would do too hot against Excadrill.
Is it the end already?

Ooraloo sends out

IF Metagross uses Zen Headbutt and not in a combo and it's not Disabled, THEN Counter and push back actions
IF Metagross is under the effect of P/E, THEN Substitute (15) on the first instance and Metronome {Recover, Spikes, Roost, Sticky Web, Rain Dance, Hail, Geomancy, Synthesis, Nasty Plot, Iron Defense) on the second
IF Metagross uses a damaging Psychic-type combo, THEN Protect

Metagross gets back on the field while Yoshiblaze chooses his final Pokémon, a Gengar.
Both Pokémon trade powerful attacks this round, but a clever Bulldoze from Metagross ensures Speed advantage, which might be crucial for next round as both Pokémon are in KO range of each other!
It seems like the final nail for the coffin for Yoshiblaze. Unless he finds something quick to find back some footing, he's done for!

Gengar fizzles out, hit by Metagross's galaxy brain, and now Venusaur is dragged back to the field to finish this battle exactly as it had started!
And, truth be told, I don't see Yoshiblaze ending the next round with alive Pokémon...
