Ok, the voting is over! By its results, the winner of the Cycle 18 is Physical Curse by ReadTheMango . Congratulations! Your submission will be added to the Hall of Fame soon. So, let's move straight to the next Cycle!

Cycle Nineteen - Rotom-W
:sm/rotom-wash:

We have another Electric-type here - Rotom-W! It is a great pivot for offensive teams thanks to its ability to check many notable threats like Heatran, Garchomp, and Tornadus-T as well as access to Volt Switch and useful utility moves like Will-O-Wisp and Defog. The most common Rotom-W's set is defensive pivot but now the offensive variants of this washing machine are being explored on the tour scene. Let's explore some other sets here guys!

Rotom-Wash @ Waterium Z
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch

- Will-O-Wisp
/ Defog

Waterium Z
combined with a Modest Nature allows Rotom-Wash to break through threats such as offensive Garchomp with a 50% Chance to OHKO it without Stealth Rocks chip.
It can also OHKO Mega Alakazam and can break through other threats such as Shift Gear Magearna, heavily damaging Mega Swampert with getting rid of it in the rain entirely.
It also bypasses threats such as Charizard X and can help against Reuniclus when it got chipped before a Hydro Vortex is able to finish it off.
Furthermore it heavily damages SpDef Toxapex and it OHKOes Defensive Zapdos after Stealth Rocks damage.
The Modest nature is needed to get the OHKOes on specific Pokémon and it can still do its other Jobs well with Volt Switching out to gain Momentum and Will-o-Wisping physical threats or
having Hazard Control in Form of Defog.

Dual Screens

Rotom-Wash @ Light Clay
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 200 Def / 56 Spe
Bold Nature
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Defog / Thunder Wave / Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch

Rotom's bulk, typing, and ability give it plenty of opportunities to set up screens, then pivot to a teammate that can take advantage of them. It can also use Defog to remove opposing screens and entry hazards. This is especially helpful for sweepers that appreciate screens support, but are weak to Stealth Rock, such as Volcarona and Blacephalon.

If Defog isn't needed on Rotom, Thunder Wave or Hydro Pump can be used instead to cripple Pokemon that switch in and make sure Rotom isn't completely helpless against Ground-types, respectively.

Scarf Rotom is a decent revenge killer and Volt Switch lets it act as a useful pivot. Hydro Pump can net some surprise KOs on stuff like Landorus that think they outspeed you. This set is also capable of crippling passive foes with Trick. The last moveslot can be anything: emergency Defog or burn/para or a type of Hidden Power to cover for a specific threat.

Rotom-Wash @ Rindo Berry
Bold Nature
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 200 Def / 56 Spe
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Toxic
- Will-O-Wisp / Hidden Power Fire / Defog

The standard defensive Rotom-Wash spread is as solid as ever, but with a Rindo Berry it can serve as a surprisingly effective tech against a lot of the common Grass types that otherwise threaten it greatly. Without access to reliable recovery Rotom-Wash is a lot easier to wear down, but it still maintains much of its defensive utility while gaining the newfound ability to eat a Leaf Blade from even Choice Band Kartana and either cripple it with Will-o-Wisp or OHKO it outright with Hidden Power Fire. Similarly, it can sponge anything but a Choice Band boosted Wood Hammer from Tapu Bulu and cripple it with status. Ferrothorn can't even do over 50% with Power Whip and can get hit by a Burn in return, Tangrowth has no business taking a gamble against the potential for Toxic, and Serperior can get its longevity cut painfully short by a Toxic if it opts to attack right into Rotom.

Electroweb Rotom-W

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 152 Def / 104 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Electroweb
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split

General idea
Here we have a pretty standard defensive Rotom-W, but the addition of Electroweb, which is a good move to spam on a predicted switch in order to use a "fastish" Volt Switch on the following turn. With this move we can use the EVs on the bulk instead of increasing the Spe stats.
Volt Switch is mandatory to keep the momentum; Will-O-Wisp is a powerful status move, especially after an Electroweb in order to keep Rotom-W as healthy as possible.
Finally, Pain Split is picked over Hydro Pump for the extra PP and utility in order to have another "attacking move" and another way to recover health.
This set is quite effective because it combines both Volt Switch and Spe control (unless you are facing Serperior).

EVs (spread) and item
EVs and item is similar to the standard's one. This Rotom reaches 234 Spe points, enough to outspeed 252+ base-110 Spe caught on the switch, so we have to give up some Def EVs.
Also, the Spe investment is enough to outspeed 176 Spe Tapu Bulu even without Spe support.

Teammates support
A way to deal properly with Ground-type pokemons and Electric-immuneis mandatory even though most of them are crippled by WoW.

it isn't the most splashable set but it has some cool uses in being able to stall rain/zard y sun turns, scout vs choice tana/bulu/lele and also protect against some z-users and medis/lops/luchas hjk

ofc the most visible downside is that the protect slot could be used for something like wisp/twave/defog/psplit but can work in specific teams when u don't miss that much those other moves

The goal is to attract grass types. Speed to pass tapu bulu (band), t-wave to serperior, mega latios and mega latias. Bugnium Z, guarantees OHKO in serpeior and mega latios, does a good damage in tapu bulu, tangrowth, reunicles and mega latias.
252+ SpA Rotom-Wash Savage Spin-Out (140 BP) vs. 56 HP / 0 SpD Serperior: 302-356 (99 - 116.7%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Rotom-Wash Savage Spin-Out (140 BP) vs. 84 HP / 0 SpD Tapu Bulu: 151-178 (50 - 58.9%) -- 76.2% chance to 2HKO after Grassy Terrain recovery
252+ SpA Rotom-Wash Savage Spin-Out (140 BP) vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Tangrowth: 208-246 (51.6 - 61%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Ring Target

Rotom-Wash @ Ring Target
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 200 Def / 56 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Trick
- Hydro Pump / Pain Split
- Will-O-Wisp / Pain Split

Trick Ring Target punishes Ground-types by making them vulnerable to electric moves (without making Rotom-W vulnerable to Groudon as this item does not affect ability), making Volt-Turn cores more effective.

Specs Rotom-W

aka clout goggles rotom

Rotom-Wash @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpA
Modest Nature
-Hydro Pump
-Volt Switch
-Hidden Power Fire / Hidden Power Ice
-Trick

This is used as a strong pivot that can spam volt switch. It's kind of like Tapu Koko in that sense, but with much more bulk and more capability to check ground types. Rotom-W still checks a lot of the mons it normally would but gets worn down more easily, so it should primarily serve as a pivot with the occasional task of checking Lando, Hawlucha, Fini, etc. It's much less likely to have its Volt Switches blocked than those of Tapu Koko since fat grounds will always be careful to avoid Rotom-W's Hydro Pumps or expected Will-o-wisps. And of course, the surprise factor is always relevant.

Specs Hydro Pump and Volt Switch hit most of the meta for big damage, including guaranteed 2HKOs on spedef Mega Sab (up to 41% with Volt), standard defensive Rotom-W, and even Mega Latios after rocks. Hidden Power Fire is the best option for the third slot since it targets all of OU's fat grass types and is the strongest option against Ferrothorn, Mega Scizor, and Kartana. However, Hidden Power Ice hits most grasses and deals heavy damage to the Mega Lati twins and other dragons. It also destroys Gliscor, Garchomp, and Landorus-Therian without risking Hydro Pump missing. Keep in mind that HP Ice still cannot 2HKO Mega Latias after rocks and that Specs Hydro Pump still has a chance to OHKO Rockium Garchomp after rocks. Trick cripples basically every switch-in so potential checks to its teammates are effectively useless.

Assault Vest Lure Rotom-W

Rotom-Wash @ Assault Vest
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 72 HP / 64 SpA / 184 SpD / 188 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Hydro Pump
- Charge Beam
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Something I quickly whipped up now that I'm done with assignments. This Assault Vest Rotom-W is tailor made for 2 purposes.

1) It can always tank two specs ash gren dark pulses, and ohko back with thunderbolt.
2) It outspeeds the standard swords dance gliscor set and forces it to roost everytime or switch

The Speed EVs allow it to outspeed gliscor by 1 point on the standard sd set. The SpA EVs ensure a 100% ohko on Ash-Gren with tbolt. The HP and SpD EVs give maximum bulk with what is remaining, and allows Rotom to always live 2 dark pulses from Ash-Gren.

It's surprisingly bulky for a pokemon with so little base hp, and hits decently hard after a charge beam meme. Not my best set, but it can certainly catch people off guard.
