All Gens Only Pokémon introduced in the same generation

First of all, I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place - I wasn't 100% sure where to post this. I understand it's not exactly the same as past gen metagames.

Recently I've been wondering if anybody ever battled with only Pokémon introduced in the same generation. So for Gen 3 for example, only dex numbers 252-386 are permitted, and nothing before that or after that.

I was talking with a friend about us making Alola only teams to battle, but as far as I can tell this has never been a thing on Smogon? Maybe I'm mistaken but I can't find anything about this anyway. If any research on this has already been done I'd love to read about it.

My idea for this is (mostly for practical purposes) that it's only a dex number requirement, so new moves and items etc. introduced by later gens would be permissible.

This is better for the Ask a Simple question, get a simple answer thread, but yes, ADV did/does have this meta. Idr what it was called, but it has existed

galar beginnings, the current wifi competition, forces new gen 8 mons - there might have also been one for gen 7
monoregion/gen might have been played before (like monocolor) but your team is locked to a gen rather than everyone being locked to a gen

this i think was ADV 200, which allowed pokemon only in RS - more than just mons released in gen3 (ex. skarmory is in hoenn but is a gen2 mon)
