There are 8 teams this year. Each team will have have 8 players and at least 4 subs. The players are bought using the 120k credits that managers receive during the auction. Managers and co-managers will be allowed to purchase themselves as players for their team at a fixed price of 20k. The managers must inform the hosts (Isaiah, UT) of all self purchases before the beginning of the auction. Teams can win their matchup every week by winning 5 of the 8 matches that their players have to play.
The tier lineup this year is as follows:
  1. SS Almost Any Ability
  2. SS Balanced Hackmons
  3. SS Godly Gift
  4. SS Mix and Mega
  5. SS NFE
  6. SS STABmons
  7. SS 2v2 Doubles (Best of 5)
  8. SS Anything Goes
All games will be played on the Pokemon Showdown main server or SmogTours in the most current version of the format corresponding to those listed above. The result between players may be decided in a best-of-one or best-of-three at the discretion of both players involved. If there is no agreement, the result will decided in a Bo1 by default.
Winning a round rewards a team with 2 points, drawing 1 point, and losing zero points. In addition, the manner in which the round has been won will also be recorded i.e. the difference between a team's wins and losses in a specific week's round (referred to as "Win Differential").
Playoffs:
Each team will play one another for seven weeks. Based on the final standings, the top 4 teams will enter a Playoffs Round to determine the teams appearing in the finals.

Tiebreaker
In the event of two teams being tied for a spot in the finals based on points and win differential, or a tie in the final round itself, we will have a tiebreaker round(s).

Tiebreaker Rules: One metagame will be picked by each manager, and each manager will also pick one metagame to strike. Additionally, each manager will submit a backup meta to strike in case their choice is the same as the opposing team's pick. The third format will be determined at random by the hosts from the remaining unpicked, unstruck metagames. In the event that the picks and strikes from each manager are the same, the hosts will determine both the second and third format at random based on the remaining options. All three metagames must be unique, so no format can be picked twice.

Substitutes
Substitutes are to be used in the case of extenuating circumstances, whether on the first day of the week, or the last. At the same time, players should be relatively well-aware of who all are available to play in the opponent's camp. If last minute substitutes are being frequently used or abused and the hosts find explanations unsatisfactory, the hosts still reserve the right to veto them. In order to further prevent this being the case teams are only granted a maximum of two substitutes per week. Any substitutions after the second will be vetoed.

Trades
The hosts have decided to not include trades this year due to reasons outlined in this thread - all roster decisions will be final, so draft carefully!

Scheduling
Scheduling should be done on Smogon Profile walls, plain and simple:
  • If there is no communication on Smogon Profile walls and a game goes undone, it will be left to the RNG to decide the winner
  • If there is communication on only one user's behalf, the win will go to them. Feel free to call activity in this thread beforehand
  • If there is a very healthy back and forth regarding potential times and one user is a no-show, a manager may take the opportunity to sub out the no-show competitor; if this is not done, the user that showed up responsibly will be awarded the win.
TL;DR: Post on your opponent's Smogon wall, schedule your matches, and be reliable. If you can't play for any reason, let your manager know so they can sub you out ASAP.
Use these posts as a place to initiate discussion about bo1 or bo3 as well (or bo5 vs bo7 for 2v2)!

Sportsmanship
Exhibitions of unsportsmanlike conduct with regards to the Other Metagame Premier League will be met with an infraction at the discretion of the OMPL host/OM mods. This is unlikely to include interactions within a team's private chat unless there is reason found to make an exception. This rule is meant to protect other users from being publicly flamed/bashed/provoked by another competitor for the duration of and following the tournament.
All players must complete their matches by the given deadline. Any incomplete matches by that time will be subject to an activity decision (MAKE SURE YOU POST ON YOUR OPPONENT'S WALL); otherwise, it will be a deadgame. All matches should ideally be done on your most notable alt (the one you registered for OMPL with) to avoid confusion and all match replays must be saved and posted in this thread. The replays will be archived in a separate thread, and will be used to calculate usage stats.

Substitutions & Lineups
Managers, if you wish to make any substitutions, you must post here tagging both the player you're subbing out, the player you're subbing in, the manager and assistant manager of the opposing team, the substitute's opponent, and all of the hosts (Isaiah, UT). This is to assure that everyone is in-the-loop and that the OP is updated accordingly to reflect the new match-up.
Managers, when you send in lineups, please send it in with the tier and Smogon username of each player fully written out for ease of transcription, following these guidelines exactly.

im too lazy to do ag and mnm this week, this tour has too many players. only doing the most important one.

SS STABmons: pannuracotta vs Kris -lets examine pannu's games this tour. won his first game by using some shitty mono and getting mu, second one, he faced possibly the worst team ever used in ompl history, week 3 he haxed geraat but refuses to acknowledge it, BUT he did play well to beat graybeum. with a record of 4-2, he has earned the status of an "okayish" player. i have full confidence in him beating his opponent this week

Second: What each team needs to win, final week edition where almost every team is actually interesting.
The minimum number of points to be confirmed in playoffs as of now is 8. The minimum number of points to still be a contender is 4.

:spinda: With 10 points the Spindas are confirmed in. If they win or tie they will be in first place, if they lose and the Hawluchas win they will be in second place.

:hawlucha: With 9 points the Hawluchas are confirmed in. They can gain be anywhere from first to third place depending on the outcomes of various matchups.

:ponyta: With 7 points and +2 differential the Mavericks are well-placed to be in the playoffs, and can guarantee themselves in with no outside circumstances needed. If they win or tie they will be in playoffs guaranteed. If they lose and the Tyrantrums win or tie the Tyrantrums and Lopunny will both pass them and knock them out of playoffs. If they lose and the Wigglytuff win, both by a lot, then the Wigglytuff can in theory pass them in differential and they would be eliminated from playoffs.

:lopunny: With 6 points and +2 differential the Lopunnies are currently eligible for a tiebreaker for playoffs, and need to play better than their competition to maintain or improve on that position. If the Lopunnys win they will pass the Mavericks and make playoffs regardless of other teams' performances. If the Lopunnies tie they require the Tyrantrums to not win. If the Lopunnies lose they require the Tyrantrums to lose by at least an equal amount, while the Wigglys cannot win by an amount that makes them surpass the Lopunnys in differential.

:tyrantrum: With 6 points and +2 differential the Tyrantrums are currently eligible for a tiebreaker for playoffs, and need to play better than their competition to maintain or improve on that position. If the Tyrantrums win they will make playoffs. If the Tyrantrums tie they will be, at the very least, in a tiebreaker, and if the Lopunnies lose and the Wiggly Family fail to 8-0 the Spindas they will be in without one. If the Tyrantrums lose they will require the Wiggly Family not to win, and the Lopunnies to lose by at least an equal amount.

:wigglytuff: With 5 points and -6 differential the Wigglys are not technically eliminated, but need circumstances outside their control to go according to plan in order to qualify. If the Wigglys win and the Tyrantrums and Lopunnys both lose the Wigglys are in. If the Wigglys win 8-0 and either of those teams tie the Wigglys will be in a tiebreaker with that team. If the Wigglys tie they require the Tyrantrums and Lopunnys to both get 8-0'd and will be in a three-way tiebreaker. If the Wigglys lose they are eliminated.

:kommo-o: With 3 points the Kommo-os cannot reach playoffs and are eliminated.

:linoone: With 2 points the Linoones cannot reach playoffs and are eliminated.

AAA Review of Week 6 by uhmm I don't know the great Osake

This week was key for almost all teams in order to reach Play-Offs and there were some great pairings such as geerat vs luisin and The Number Man vs shiloh so we can expect good teams and great games from all players; we'll see how it went this time!

1652718001734.pngavyrie vs astralydia1652717989541.png

After her appearance Week 1 and her win vs MZ, lydia was back in AAA this week with a typical lydia build, but without a win con like GDos or Tapu Koko this time, so it looked like a stall/semi-stall, depending of Garchomp's set that could be Offensive Life Orb. On the other side avyrie brought a fat team that Lydia could have build too lol, with Mandibuzz/Jirachi, Ferrothorn for hazards and Mew cuz it can do everything, and an offensive core of Tapu Koko + Talonflame. Nothing crazy in those teams, so we can quickly move on the game.
Lydia immediately leads Ferrothorn and avyrie reveals Magic Bounce Mew, which was kinda expected since Ferrothorn and Jirachi were the Regen slots, although it could have been DS but Lydia could have checked and just Knock the switch-in. Toxapex is then sent and it's interesting because it reveals that it is not Black Sludge, which means that Talonflame can wear it down quite quickly; it also doesn't reveal Rocky Helmet on Jirachi's U-turn on Turn 4, which leaves Shed Shell and Shuca Berry as best options I think. After a few slow turns of switching, avyrie is able to bring Talonflame which reveals Will-O-Wisp and burns Toxapex; not having the Black Sludge is huge here because Toxapex will just waste its Recover every time it comes on the field and both teams looking fats, we can expect a long game and a Toxapex being PP stalled leading to a Talonflame win. This is interesting because Toxapex is often considered as a Talonflame check and, while it's not totally false, it's the easiest check to overwhelm with Burn/Knock (or just no Sludge), esp with Brave Bird forcing Recover often. Then follows a quite long sequence of Talonflame burning (LOL IM SO FUNNY) (sorry i slept 3h im tired) Toxapex's recovery with Brave Bird + burn, with Toxapex only being able to Scald back and Talonflame can freely Roost. This is clearly good for avyrie as Talonflame is winning long-term here, and Toxapex being dead is good for Mew that is presumably Magic Bounce, but it was a missplay to start the sequence since Toxapex didn't reveal if it was Knock Off or not and, with Knock, Talonflame would have struggle way more to make progress vs Toxapex and for the rest of the game, and I don't think avyrie should have risked that considering the excellent MU it had here, they could have just wait a little longer to do this. After a 30 turns sequence, Talonflame is finally able to kill Toxapex and Garchomp comes on the field, proceeding to kill Talonflame with Life Orb Stone Edge but being burned in exchange. I kinda think that Lydia could have try to hard switch on Garchomp at some point when Talonflame was Roosting to preserve Toxapex since at the end Chomp is also burned but Toxapex is dead. This was understandable if Garchomp was defensive since Stone Edge burned doesn't kill Talonflame at full (so putting Talonflame at 34% before dying with Pex as it was done was fine) but Life Orb Edge kills 80% of the time (aka the miss) and I think it was better to preserve a bit longer Toxapex. Garchomp also reveals here that it's SD 3A LO probably, which makes sens to actually have a way of progress in the team. A couple of turns later, Lydia's Ferrothorn reveals Swords Dance, stealing shiloh's tech, and is able to force in Mandibuzz and Defog away the Spikes with her own Mandibuzz. avyrie brings their own Ferrothorn, get their Spikes Bounced by Mew like Lydia in early lol, and then reveals Swords Dance, like Lydia, which reveals huge similarities between both teams (SD Ferro/Defensive Buzz/CM Bounce Mew in both cases). After a few turns or positioning, exchanging hazards, etc, and avyrie's Tapu Koko revealing Calm Mind, both Mew are facing each other in a Calm Mind war (thanks to a lucky dodge of Power Whip by avyrie which forced out Ferrothorn that was otherwise dealing with Mew). There is nothing much to say here, both Mew exchange Ice Beam/Stored Power until one of them crit or get a freeze and avyrie got it first, which allows them to won the game in a very Siamato moment. I don't think I would have risk my Mew if I was avyrie cuz it was their main win con and they had Jirachi/Ferrothorn/Mandibuzz in the back to deal with Mew and if they lose Mew uhmm it's hard it would have been a super long game so in a way I'm happy they won with the faster way lol. Was a weird game at some point between two fat builds, but we can see how fat teams are progressively including progress makers in SD Ferro/CM Mew/Offensive Chomp, etc, and I think it's good (and, without those sets, the game would have take ages because you just don't make progress so it's cool).

1652718122807.pnggeerat vs luisin1652718133311.png

Both teams were obviously different, but we can notice similarities in the building pattern: Koko, Ferrothorn, Mew, bulky Water (Toxapex vs Milotic), Dragon breaker (Latios vs Garchomp, although Garchomp can be Dragon-STAB-less) with only Volcarona and Diancie in both teams standing as differences. luisin's team keeps beauts's tendency to build classic fat, but we can notice a cool Volcarona, while geerat's team is more wild with cool picks in Diancie and Milotic and a Latios that is a good pick when you don't load in Jirachi. There is once again not much to say here, so let's watch the battle!
geerat quickly reveals that his Latios is Tinted Lens, presumably Specs since it does 47 to Ferrothorn lul. luisin then reveals another Ferrothorn Swords Dance, which seems to become popular, and geerat reveals that his Mew is Unaware which is quite cool and uncommon. luisin also wants to reveal his cool set so they bring Volcarona and reveal Toxic Orb Magic Guard, courtesy of Isaiah, which allows it to avoid Thunder Wave. It also reveals a weird set of Quiver Dance + Toxic, which means that it's mono attacker Volcarona, probably with Flamethrower. Milotic removes it with Dragon Tail and Pixi Koko activates its Flame Orb, and geerat reveals that he's also using SD Ferrothorn, which means that it was used four times in 2 games its crazy. After a few turns where nothing happens, luisin brings Koko vs Mew to heal it but is catched off guard by Gunk Shot, leading to a trade of Koko vs Mew with luisin's Garchomp revenve killing Mew and killing it. The trade feels okay for both players since luisin's Garchomp, that is probably Swords Dance, has a good shot now, while geerat has eliminated the main form of Speed control and only RK to Latios as well as the Draco immunity. geerat then reveals that his Koko is also Pixilate, but then reveals his Diancie set and damn that was both amazing and sad. Mystical Fire Life Orb vs Ferrothorn only did 79 lol that's so sad, and in exchange Diancie is almost dead. That means however that Ferrothorn is almost dead too and Latios can break, which it does by killing the weakened Mew. Volcarona comes and here maybe geerat could have clicked Psychic? It leads to the same sequence aka Volcarona Quiver Dancing but then is forced to Roost and you can send Milotic after, and Volcarona is certainly QD Flame Roost so Milotic/Latios cannot be KO'd, but you have one chance of critting the Volca (which leads to geerat instant win) and you can also check the spread for later (if it has SpD invests mainly cuz it's surely full HP). Maybe i missed something and I don't think it's a huge missplay but it gave geerat a chance to have odds in his favour and to win instantly without drawback, I think. Anyway, Milotic Dragon Tail's Volcarona and Garchomp is forced out and has a free kill, but luisin switched out to heal Ferrothorn which is pretty smart and then sac Toxapex on Diancie + Latios (we'll never know Diancie's set, I'd say something like CM Triage but I don't really know, that was a fun set but doing 79 to ferro is so sad - it also did 44 to Toxapex with Power Gem so you're also walled by Pex it's sad :d). After a few turns where Milotic slowly heals up and both players just switching out their Regen walls, geerat decided to sac his Koko to weaken once again the Ferrothorn and try to win with Latios, claiming a kill on Garchomp. luisin then sends back the healed Ferrothorn, at 55%, vs Latios Tinted Specs locked on Psyshock, and it clicks again Psyshock, doing 47% and dying on Knock Off. The game is then kinda over for geerat as he cannot really make progress; the game takes a few turns to finish and I'm not sure why because I think sacking Ferrothorn (by spamming SD + Knock as luisin did at the end) was fine for luisin since Volcarona couldn't be Dragon Tailed anymore and was just winning by outdamaging Regen on Milotic with QD + Flame + Rocks + Toxic and they had enough Roost to do this. They took a long path that won by killing oppoiste Ferrothorn with SD + Knock but I'm not sure why they did so many switches before. Latios sac was sorta necessary as it wasn't able to OHKO Volcarona or Ferrothorn so geerat tried to take the crit but keeping it was maybe better, it wasn't probably winning if luisin played the endgame perfectly but he could have had a chance later against a weakened Volcarona or something (with the chance of SpD drop + crit on two psychic vs Ferro is they switch or something). Both teams were cool but Latios hard MU and Volcarona being insanely hard to kill for geerat - that's part of why I don't like Milotic, it's good at checking but it struggles to actually remove the threat on its own and it often loses long term if you don't win before - made this MU kinda hard for geerat and unless getting a lot of plays right or a crit at some point luisin was probably winning by playing well - and ofc he did. Interesting game, kinda sad that geerat lost again he deserves better but he faced one of the best AAA player this year, unfortunately.

1652718159723.pngPotatochan789 vs MZ1652718172253.png

This game was weird because we were expecting PandaDoux to play, especially in a decisive week like this one, and Potatochan doesn't know AAA at all afaik so it was a little bit weird. It was also tricky to build because I had to cover both HO-fish MU (because that's how you do when you're paired with a stronger player than you) or classic fat stuff of Panda, and it's not easy to cover everything while still having a good team overall. Potatochan indeed brought an HO, quite classic but with a Corviknight that could be Bounce/Flash Fire/Volt Absorb and a Garchomp, probably SD Skill Link I think? that aren't super common picks in HO. When I saw the preview I immediately thought that it was Bounce Corviknight, although it could always have been FF or VA. On the other hand, MZ brought a quite fat team with only Tapu Bulu as a breaker and maybe an offensive Garchomp. I wanted to build with Toxapex + Chansey precisely to cover kinda the HO MU, but we'll see how it'll go (dw, it'll be short).
Potatochan leads Koko to setup Screens and Garchomp clicks Earthquake, then tries to setup Stealth Rock on the incoming Corviknight. I understand the play, but I don't think I would have risk it because Bounce Corviknight was an option and Rocks aren't that much annoying for Potatochan's team (well, since it was double Bounce it was maybe SFLO Volcarona or something, but we can't know) whereas it's really annoying for us in this match-up, esp for Chansey but overall those 12% chip are way more annoying when you're trying to answer defensively things than for offensive things that want to win in 20 turns or less. The play is fine but I think the risk-reward wasn't high enough to click Rocks here. Lele is then sent on Garchomp's SD, and MZ switches out while Lele clicks Calm Mind. This is a questionnable play esp since the Garchomp is Roseli Berry and you really needed to wear down this Lele cuz, if you look at the others mons of the HO, Lele is the only one that is annoying - Volcarona is handled by Chansey + Toxapex + Garchomp, Kommo-o by Toxapex, and Garchomp by Bulu. Ofc it's not instant win, esp if its SFLO Volcarona, but Lele was the main problem here. Chansey ate Lele's Psyshock and is able to Toxic it back, but Rocks prove how much they are annoying because they really prevent Chansey to heal and stop all kinda of middle grounds counterplays. Potatochan perfectly reads MZ and clicks Focus Blast on the incoming Corviknight, and then reads MZ's switch on Chansey and Psyshock it and, when Lele finally dies, Chansey and Corv are dead, and Garchomp at 6%, which means that MZ has pretty much already lost and Volcarona just cleans (revealing that it was probably SFLO, which makes sens with the double Dance). I honestly think that the MU wasn't that bad for MZ, but good plays from Potatochan, Chansey not being +Def (maybe it should be, I don't know), and Rocks being up were instant death and led to an easy win in 14 turns. I think this could have been played differently and it was possible to wear down Lele with Chansey + Garchomp + Kommo-o that was a free sac if needed and Corviknight that could be used too as middleground, and if Chomp and Chansey were still relatively alive when Lele dies I think it was won for MZ. It wasn't that easy to do but it was manageable, but Potatochan red every play and that's well played. I'm kinda sad of this lose ofc because we tie the week on this, but that's life. I was also very happy to read Potatochan's comment later :]
1652717509479.png

And it feels nice to see that my reviews are useful to beat my player :sob: and it's cool that Potatochan built their HO alone! Not the craziest one but it was enough to fish us and it worked. (you're 6-0'd by Barraskewda which is my main issue)

1652718193100.pngshiloh vs The Number Man1652718204011.png

That was a great pairing between two of the greatest AAA players ever, and both brought cool teams which was cool. The Number Man took inspiration of THE THE THE Best AAA player ever aka me and brought THE Drampa aka the monster aka undefeated in tour games (until now smh...) and brought a quite offensive team with Cinderace + Koko, so presumably Pixi Koko, Scarf Genesect, RegenChomp as a rocker and Mew as an utility mon. shiloh brought what looked like a physical spam with another GDos, coupled with Zygarde and Dhelmise, and this core looks super threatening and it probably overwhelms almost all the defensive cores. Mew, Heatran, and Toxapex are the more classic defensive core, and Grassy Surge Dhelmise provides a Ground-resist which makes the team quite hype.
The first turns are absolutely terrible for TNM; Magic Bounce Toxapex is able to 1v1 Cinderace and Garchomp by bouncing back Toxic on Chomp and chipping Cinderace with Koff, despite it having the cool Super Fang. TNM is able to activate Tapu Koko's Flame Orb and dodges Magma Storm with Cinderace allowing it to severly weaken Heatran which is huge for Tapu Koko, but there is still a whole Toxapex to beat. This Toxapex is really owning TNM, staying in twice vs Garchomp's and trapping it with Infestation and then shrugging off Earthquake with Recover, which gives to shiloh a great edge in this game. shiloh is able to slightly heal Heatran with Protect and is slowly PP stalling Pyro Ball, but Genesect is able to come vs Toxapex. It clicks Shift Gear while Toxapex just Knock its Life Orb and TNM is once again owned by this unexpected stay in of shiloh, and Toxapex is now able to 1v1 Gensect without crits and Genesect didn't crit. Genesect had a good shot here even if Heatran was still alive, but TNM being red once again leads him in a pretty bad position. The game at this point is almost already lost, with shiloh revealing that it was Big Zyg and not classic band Zydog - and it once again did nothing but eating one hit that Chomp or anything that resists Fire coul've eat too. TNM ultimately tried to setup his Drampa but Mew Tricks it and it's over. That was a massive stomp from shiloh, they got every key turn right and their team was well prepped vs TNM's one ngl, he had a lot of troubles vs Toxapex + Heatran and Garchomp being owned by Toxapex sealed the game as it was his only way to break the core. This game was shorter because it was mainly Pex stalling things and shiloh getting every turn right, TNM really got owned in this one just by shiloh playing aggresively with their defensive core, which was well played, but that was a no-game sadly.

This ends the AAA review of this week! Sorry for the delay, I've been kinda busy this week and I struggled a bit more to finish this one, but there is only one week left in the regular season so stay tuned for MZ vs shiloh and The Number Man vs luisin, it should be great games!

Have a good day everyone, and take care!

TTTech vs a loser
:Giratina::Tapu Fini::Ho-Oh::Chansey::Type-Null::Solgaleo: vs :Necrozma-Dusk-Mane::Spectrier::Zygarde-Complete::Palkia::Zamazenta-Crowned::Regigigas:
TTTech had been changing up his core in his first two games this season but returns to form here, bringing a very familiar group of mons as well as a Solgaleo. Interesting here is the first matchup so far where each team member was a completely different mon.

The game opens up with TTTech leading Imposter Chansey to scout my RegenVest Zyg-C and he gets the slow pivot into Tapu Fini to activate its Toxic Orb. A few turns later he brings Chansey back in to reveal it is Toxic Orb while I activate that of my Regigigas. I know the Imposter can stay in and Core Enforcer Gigas here but I thought this was a good opportunity to hit it with Glacial Lance in case it did stay in and it gets chipped hard (but regens some of it back). TTTech sends out Giratina, who I Nuzzle and then send Dusk Mane out to have its Helmet removed with Knock Off. I use Spikes as he goes to Solgaleo to bounce them back and I'm not sure if he had a feeling here but he switches out to Ho-Oh as I attempt to cheese him with Liquid Ooze Strength Sap. So Dusk Mane heals while Ho-Oh Parting Shots out and a few turns later Orb Imposter gets in on Gigas. This visit is short lived though, as my FC Helmet Palkia forces it out and pivots on Fini with Volt Switch. But TTTech does a good job of keeping momentum with slow pivots and brings in Ho-Oh each time I get Dusk Mane back in.
When his Imposter comes back in on Gigas I make a series of bad plays. Hazards are chipping Palkia and it gets Nuzzled this time and when staying in to heal up, I get a full para and fall in range of a KO from boosted Facade. I'm forced out and TTTech attempts to catch someone on the switch with Nuzzle but my Zyg-C absorbs it and takes a mid roll from Glance, living long enough to force out Imposter with Core Enforcer before fainting. I bring Palkia back in, despite the heavy chip, forcing TTTech to decide between letting me heal or keeping Imposter and he switches to Fini while I full para again. He switches to Ho-Oh and I full para, then he pivots to Imposter and I full para, then he heals with Imposter and I full para again. I'm forced out, keeping momentum on TTTech's side as he Volt Switches on my Dusk Mane to bring in Solgaleo. I probably should have sacked Palkia here but instead bring in Gigas to take a V-create from Ho-Oh. TTTech responds with a hard switch to Imposter who takes 32% from Facade and proceeds to win two Speed ties to knock out my Gigas and stay fairly healthy at 41% overall. This was another bummer for me as Gigas seemed to be able to pressure his team fairly well had Imposter been gone. I respond to this by bringing in Zama-c and make another poor play, not realizing that TTTech would sack Imposter here as it is no longer needed, and predict a switch using Tough Claws LO Wicked Blow to tickle the Imposter and end up taking a massive hit from V-create. Zama-C is KO'd by Life Orb on the next hit, chipping Tina slightly, and this was a big blow to my chances of winning as Zama-C could have pressured every mon but Ho-Oh. Running out of options, I bring in Spectrier to set up with Nasty Plot hoping that he'll switch out. But instead he stays in to remove Mold Breaker with Core Enforcer so that I end up doing 40% to Type: Null instead of 80% and later die to Spectral. I could have used Strength Sap here to elongate the game some, I guess, but Null would have walled me later with Spectral Thief. From here the game is basically over though.

I do blame bad luck on this one for the most part. I mean five full paras in a row on Palkia to cement its demise was really bad for me and losing the two Speed ties to drop to Imposter was also quite bad. However, my Gigas improof was too soft considering TTTech is no stranger to Orb Imposter and I did make a bad play with Zama-C in the end game to make things worse. TTTech also made good plays and was able to somehow avoid Liquid Ooze despite having two Magic Bounce mons and also keep most of my Spikes off the field. Despite his Imposter, I do think the matchup was favored toward me which makes losing like this a big bummer.

Nihilslave vs anaconja
:Xerneas-Neutral::Giratina::Regigigas::Eternatus::Ho-Oh::Magearna-Original: vs :Ho-Oh::Groudon::Giratina-Origin::Blissey::Xerneas-Neutral::Zamazenta-Crowned:
Nihilslave returns with a very meta-looking team of Regi/Xern with a supporting cast of Ho-Oh and Etern. anaconja makes his season debut and has a similar squad except is using the other Tina and a different Steel-type. An offensive Groudon could be trouble for Nihilslave's team from the looks of things.

The game opens with some scouting, slow pivots, and orb activations on Gigas and Tina-O. The Tina-O tries to hit a predicted switch with Nuzzle while Gigas lays Spikes and then Tina-O just goes for Core Enforcer, hitting Eternatus for big damage on the switch. Etern immediately goes for Electrify, which is rare tech but immediately looks dangerous for anaconja's team as every mon except Imposter Blissey is slower than it. This is also a neat soft check for Nuzzle in Lightning Rod. But anaconja had switched out to bring in Don, who is seen to be Prankster Glare that comes up empty on a switch to Gigas. Nihilslave begins stacking hazards, getting rocks and spikes up, and Magearna gets paralyzed in the process. Gigas is sent out to face Ho-Oh on a double from both sides and anaconja brings in Zama-C, who is KO'd the next turn by V-create after Gigas used Shift Gear. This isn't good for anaconja as now his only mon that resisted both of Etern's STAB moves is gone. With the set revealed fully, anaconja brings in Tina-O to check Gigas with Core Enforcer as Nihilslave brings in Xerneas and activates its Toxic Orb. This was a tough play, as a Nuzzle could have been detrimental for Xerneas but triggering Lightning Rod Eternatus would have been dire for anaconja so he tried to eliminate it on a predict. PH Xern knocks Ho-Oh's boots off and anaconja brings in Xerneas, who is revealed as Pixilate Spin, to face Giratina as a result of double switches on both sides. Here, Nihilslave takes a massive risk staying in as Xern uses Rapid Spin to clear the hazards but we knew that it wasn't wearing boots due to taking chip from them. This is a big risk because Pixie Plate Boomburst is a coinflip to OHKO Giratina but the Tina lives to see another day as it Worry Seeds the Xern to force it out. A few turns later, anaconja's Ho-Oh Nuzzles Tina and Tina-O is confirmed to carry Hex, meaning it is now a pretty threatening mon to Nihilslave's team. This paralysis comes in handy for anaconja as his Ho-Oh chips it down with Fire Lash and Spectral Thief thanks to two full paras and Nihilslave is forced out and brings in Etern. Instead of going for Electrify, Nihilslave smartly chooses Sludge Bomb to fish for poison as Don is brought in. It dodges poison and fires off Precipice Blades, doing 58% to Xerneas who came in and uses Glare to hit Ho-Oh on a predicted switch the following turn. Nihilslave tries to set Rocks again but we find out that anaconja's Ho-Oh is Magic Bounce and denies them, which I guess kind of makes up for its boots being removed.
Etern comes back in and this time gets the poison on Don, putting it on its back foot and does even more so when it tries to Glare instead of heal and gets forced out at 1/4 of its health. Tina-O gets back in when Gigas comes out and this time it sets up with Nasty Plot. Magearna is brought in and revealed as Prankster with Topsy-Turvy to keep it at bay and manages to spin away Stealth Rock while anaconja switches out. Tina-O gets back in for free against Gigas and Cores it this time, followed by a Hex on Ho-Oh. Wanting to keep rocks away, anaconja switches out Tina-O despite it being in pretty great position to punish Nihilslave's heavily chipped team. After a scare with full paras, Ho-Oh heals up to half its health and Nihilslave has to bring Etern back out to take Fire Lash. Then anaconja has a brain fart and uses Nuzzle on Etern to boost its SpA. It steals it back but is put in range of being KO'd and anaconja is forced to sack Groudon so that Imposter can come in. Imposter doesn't stay in long though as Magearna comes in to scare it out and fires off a Glare that Ho-Oh deflects. This lets Ho-Oh heal but Etern comes back in for free. It manages to stay alive thanks to Black Sludge and resisting Fire Lash, on top of the huge threat of spamming Electrify and sweeping. Gigas again is sent out, meaning Tina-O comes in for free and instead of double switching here Nihilslave stays in and ends up sacking Giratina to safely bring in Xerneas. Xern starts dancing and Nuzzles Ho-Oh but is forced out after having its boosts stolen and Nihilslave brings Gigas back in. But anaconja doubled out as well to bring in Xern, who is all but confirmed as Timid when it outpaced Tina's Worry Seed and it uses Strength Sap on an Adamant Gigas. Xern spins the annoying spike away and Tina-O gets back in and proceeds to hax past Mag thanks to three consecutive full paras.
But this frees an opening for Xerneas to come back in and it starts dancing again. This allows for Imposter Blissey to finally be shown as holding a Toxic Orb and a dance off begins with Xern ahead by one turn. Xern gets fully boosted and beings spamming Moonblast, which chips Blissey to around half its health before running out of Moonblast PP and forcing anaconja to bring in Ho-Oh. Ho-Oh steals the boosts, which repeats a cycle of Gigas coming in on Ho-Oh and Tina-O coming in to face Gigas. This time Nihilslave gets his money worth by spamming Spikes to get two layers while Tina-O sets up. Ho-Oh is sacked so that Etern can come in and anaconja has really no choice but to send in Blissey, who gets a boost from Lightning Rod absorbing Electrify. This was pretty dire for anaconja as a Core Enforcer there meant the game was over, but he isn't out of the woods as Blissey is on a timer due to Toxic damage. Blissey chips Xern with Earth Power but is forced out as it would be KO'd if it stayed so anaconja has to try to spin the hazards to have another shot. He brings in Xerneas while the opposing Xern QD's again, which means Ho-Oh has to come in to check it. Both sides end up doubling out here though, but this time Nihilslave doesn't bring in Regigigas like he had the last several times. He sends out Eternatus instead as anaconja brings out Xerneas, who was hoping to outpace and spin/heal on Regigigas and potentially win after a Speed boost. But Etern is free to click Electrify at this point and the battle is over not long after this.

I thought both sides played this game pretty well and it was definitely a close battle. Mag being KO'd after the full paras was unfortunate and definitely gave anaconja some momentum, but really it was all down to Nihilslave being able to play smartly with Eternatus as it pretty much won outright as long as it dodged Glare. Despite being at a big disadvantage because of this, I thought anaconja made some very smart plays but Nihilslave just made a smarter one when it mattered most.

cityscapes vs xavgb
:Xerneas-Neutral::Ho-Oh::Zamazenta-Crowned::Reshiram::Regigigas::Celesteela: vs :Ho-Oh::Zygarde-Complete::Barraskewda::Xerneas-Neutral::Regigigas::Melmetal:
We see here that stresh was so distraught by catching his first L to the fish that he ended up bringing it himself. city's team averages mid 90s base Speed though so this could be an issue considering how fast the fish is.

Several double switches kick off this battle, leading to Reshiram facing the likely fish improof, DesoLand Ho-Oh, at +1 thanks to Quiver Dance. It dances again as Ho-Oh hits it with Nuzzle and the following turn Reshiram catches a full para as stresh makes what looks like a very risky switch to Melmetal. Melm stays in to invert the boosts with Topsy-Turvy but still takes big chunk from Life Orb Blue Flare. This leads to both sides switching out and results in city's Ho-Oh being up against stresh's PH Gigas. Then, in likely what is the most surprising turn of the tour so far, both mons Teleport out. Fish gets in and is seen to be Primordial Sea. This could spell trouble for city as we already saw her Ho-Oh was not DesoLand and a paralyzed Resh is now facing it. But the fish only does 24% to it with Flip Turn, meaning Resh is Fur Coat, and it gets forced out the following turn by Xerneas after a full para. Xern just Volt Switches on city's Ho-Oh to bring the fish back in, likely to claim its first kill. It does so by hitting Ho-Oh with Fishious Rend and city responds by bringing in a still unrevealed Xern. This forces stresh to pull the fish, not risking Extreme Speed here, but Xern just uses Boomburst to hit the Ho-Oh switch-in. A few doubles later brings Zama-C in, who uses Heal Bell to help out Reshiram. Xern is brought in to face Zyg-C, who uses Volt Switch to bring in a chipped Melmetal. Instead of healing here, Melmetal goes for a rare Toxic that lands on a doubled-switched Reshiram. The fish is brought back in later on a Gigas Teleport, again facing Xern but not risking being hit with E-Speed as stresh sends out Melmetal who dodges Zap Cannon. stresh is keeping momentum on his side due to the lack of pivot moves on city's end and continues to keep it, getting Ho-Oh in against Celesteela. Predicting a switch, stresh sets Spikes here and gets crit by Aerilate Boomburst from Steela and has to heal up while it has the Spikes spun away.
A few switches lead to a big sequence of turns for the battle where Reshiram is facing Zyg-C. Hoping for a switch, Reshiram Blue Flares, crit-burning the Zyg-C as it is hit with Core Enforcer. Hoping for another switch, Resh uses Strength Sap only for it to be bounced back and it is KO'd by Core Enforcer. city responds by spamming Boomburst with Xern and taking out stresh's Gigas but this only frees up space for the fish to come in and start stacking up bodies to end the game. We later learn that Reshiram was packing Eternabeam, which would have ousted Zyg-C easily but made things tough for it later on as Rend 2HKOes it.

cityscapes brought some neat tech and this is not a surprise, but sadly her cool Reshiram set was up against one of the few physical breakers that can threaten it. I'm sure it was not a good feeling to lose to the fish, but this is why they call it the matchup fish after all.

Career Ended vs quojova
:Groudon::Xerneas-Neutral::Chansey::Regigigas::Zamazenta-Crowned::Lunala: vs :Eternatus::Zamazenta-Crowned::Xerneas-Neutral::Regigigas::Heatran::Zygarde-Complete:
Career Ended rolls in with a fairly standard looking Regi/Xern core supported by good and spammable mons Groudon, Imposter, and Lunala. quojova throws some spice on the Regi/Xern core recipe by bringing a Heatran. I've said this before but will say it again, looks like an offensive Don could put in work here.

Career leads with Imposter and quojova helps us out by just revealing the Heatran set to be RegenVest with the normal utility moves + Blue Flare. quojova risks taking the Nuzzle by U-turning out on a Groudon switch-in to get the orb activated on Gigas. After several turns of doubles and pivots, we see Career's Lunala is Fur Coat and so is quojova's Zyg-C. Etern is brought in and uses Volt Switch a couple times while Gigas gets a layer of Spikes up and we end up seeing Groudon deny FC Zyg-C's Volt Switch and hitting it for 47% with Glacial Lance. This means Don got the low roll from Jolly Choice Band damage but quojova is free now to bring in the quad resist Heatran and get momentum back. Heatran continues to just pivot on Gigas, as the full set is revealed as Facade / Spikes / Nuzzle / U-turn, and it looks like it can check Career's Zama-C too as it flees after trapping Heatran with Anchor Shot. After Lunala gets Nuzzled, Career makes a nice double to get Groudon in on Heatran for a free turn. With a spike on the field, quojova can't send in Zyg-C unless he prays for two misses so Gigas comes in and takes 81% from P-blades and then Career, for some reason, switches out to Lunala. I say that because Gigas couldn't KO Don from that range unless he got a crit, but this exchange still kinda works for Career as quojova's Xern gets paralyzed and chipped a lot while it spins the spike away. Zama-C comes in to put salt in the wound by bouncing back Xern's Strength Sap and then a double from both sides brings Don in to face a fairly unknown Etern. Etern fires off Draco Meteor, which comes up empty on a Xern switch and follows this by Volt Switching into Heatran. Career also used Volt Switch and gets Don back in, who KO's Xern with Precipice Blades and allows for Etern to re-enter safely. This time Career sends out Zama-C, who dodges Draco, but a few pivots later quojova's Zama-C gets in and Knocks Off Lunala's Rocky Helmet. Zyg-C is brought in on a slow pivot and quojova successfully baits Spikes and sends them back with his own Magic Bounce Zama-C. Career then spends the next several turns spamming Facade on Zama-C, all while getting chipped pretty hard by Fishious Rend and a crit Anchor Shot before pivoting to Lunala. Bringing in Lunala is really the only safe play here considering Career's Zama-C was forced out by Heatran but it works against him as it allows Zyg-C to finally recover its health.
A little while later, after Xern spins the spike and Etern is confirmed as Regen, quojova is spamming Volt Switch with Etern and making doubles for a bit. This repetition pays off as Career ends up trapping and removing Etern's ability and just when he expects a Volt Switch, per usual, Etern pulls out Draco again and nails Imposter switching in. This is big because Imposter is now down to 30% health and won't heal on the switch thanks to the earlier Worry Seed. Imposter does get a shot at healing several turns later, but at the cost of being paralyzed by Heatran's Nuzzle. quojova's Gigas still hasn't revealed its last move until it finally goes for Precipice Blades to tickle Lunala on turn 81. Over the next sequence, quojvoa spams Volt Switch for a while and dodges some P-blades from Don before hitting Imposter with another Draco. The Volt Switch spam really does a number on Lunala, though, who is now at 39% health and still very paralyzed. But it is able to shrug this off a few turns later in front of Gigas when quojova crosses his fingers for some para hax.
More pivots and nothing too interesting take place over the next 40+ turns until quojova's Zama-C stays in to Knock Off transformed Heatran's Eviolite while dodging a Blue Flare. This wasn't like, super detrimental for the battle, but it was definitely a bummer for Career in the moment. One thing that did happen over these now 60+ turns, though, was Lunala's useful PP being used up slowly. Full paras helped a bit but it was basically forced to fire off Hex, Core Enforcer, and use its recovery to keep quojova honest. And Lunala is finally left in a vulnerable position after it was withdrawn at half health and is back under pressure in front of PH Gigas. Up to this point, Lunala had come in clutch and healed when it needed to, avoiding paralysis hax, but I think you know by now what is going to happen. +2 Gigas gets halfway there with Precipice Blades as Lunala gets the full para and is forced out. Perhaps Career should have prayed for a miss, but Imposter comes in an tickles FC Zyg-C with a +2 boosted Facade for 26% and takes more chip from the helmet. From here, Gigas gets back in, Swords Dances again, and is able to clean up for the win.

On paper, Career Ended's Magic Bounce Zama-C checks both Regi and Xern. This is in a vacuum, though, not considering things like +1 Speed Xern with Metronome or, say, Nuzzle Gigas with a dummy strong move like P-blades or V-create. Ultimately, I think Career lost this game when he took out Don in front of a dying Regigigas. Yeah, he could have been crit or missed his attack, but that drained his momentum almost completely and led to the spike being removed and Zyg-C's eventual recovery.

Metagame Observations
Everyone except me and TTTech brought Xerneas, but just our efforts aren't enough to dethrone it as queen of usage. Gigas was used just as much this week and is six total uses behind Xern for the entire tournament. Toxic Orb Imposter has been seeing a ton of usage lately, for better or worse, and finally paid off pretty well in at least one game this week. Ho-Oh saw a tournament high of five uses this week, which isn't surprising given the presence of so much Xerneas.
Spectators probably have noticed it throughout the tour so far but this week you couldn't ignore the impacts of "yellow magic" on the games. Every game this week had at least one key moment where a full para was a factor. 9.8% of total turns this week featured a full para. Nihilslave was the only player on the wrong side of this hax to end up winning, and it wasn't easy for them as they had to play insanely well to get the win.
Two battles got pretty long this week, which stretched out the average number of turns to 97.

Upcoming Matches
TTTech vs Nihilslave - So far TTTech has proven why you play the more experienced BH player in tours like this. Luck or no luck, sometimes you just pick someone who is good at and comfortable playing in long / stressful games. Nihilslave is having a great tour so far and it'll be interesting to see if he can cook up something werid enough to break through whatever TTTech shows up with.

MAMP vs Tea Guzzler - Tea man gets their OMPL debut here against a tough opponent. I think Tea Guzzler will likely be building this on his own, but still under the eye of stresh, so I'm curious what he'll show up with. Some dummy strong offensive mon with dummy strong moves sounds likely, though. MAMP will bring a good team and give them a tough battle as MAMP is known to do.

cityscapes vs quojova - The highlight match of this week, but all should be good matches. So far cityscapes has lost to cringe Regi/Xern and the fish, while quojova's two losses have been to stresh (which is almost built in) and para hax in a tough battle. Both will be looking to end the regular season on a high note and to help get their teams into the playoffs so expect the A game from both sides here.

Ballfire vs Andyboy - The playoff-eliminated-team matchup randomizer has selected these two play each other. This should most certainly be a battle of Balanced Hackmons, eighth generation style.

Salutations good people of the Other Metagames Premier League (Tenth Edition) Week Seven thread! I hope I find you all well on this beautiful day.

I am here in my official capacity of Manager of the Malding Maverick Team with a bittersweet announcement. Due to an unforeseen change in circumstances we (myself and IBM ) on behalf of the whole Horse team must hereby substitute out the skilled STABmons player Kris from his upcoming contest of wits and talent against the unarguably formidable opponent pannuracotta of The Larping Lopunnies, as capably managed by the dedicated and likeable pairing of DerpyBoi and adem . While substituting out Kris comes with great sadness and regret, that sadness is tempered by the joy and pride I feel in allowing the excellent and enthusiastic player Byleth to have their seventh game of this season! Hopefully everyone following this tournament, not least the exemplary hosting team of two Isaiah and UT, will share my anticipation in seeing another deserving player prove themselves on the field of (pokemon) battle!

Real late predicts bc I've been sick with a sore throat and a recently good amount of coughs. So I'll keep this real short before I sleep. Also 2/2 last week but still positive overall with a 6/2 B). I will be positive by the end of the week.

SS NFE: Jonfilch vs Stareal (60:40) Been more impressed with their builds and their plays over Stareals atm. Stareal has brought pretty standard stuff, which isn't bad on its own even if predictable. I think I'm not impressed with how he has played overall. Stareal can definitely take a win if he can show a better performance but I think Jonfilch will secure his 7-0 victory.

SS NFE: Tlenit vs TJ (49:51) I think both of them are equal in anything. The teams they've brought are both good and none of the players are better in terms of performance in this tournament overall. So it's more like I've to force myself to pick one of them so I'll give it to TJ.

SS NFE: King Leo V vs Ojr (55:45) King Leo V does not lose in the last week of a team tournament. Ojr can easily take the game if he knows how Leo builds his teams and exploit it to the highest degree, but I feel like Ojr could overextend his stuff sometimes so it may get over in his head. But overall giving it simply King Leo V since he does not simply lose at the end of the team tours(at least with NFE).

SS NFE: S1nn0hC0nfirm3d(Ho3n) vs Sylveon (55:45) Ho3n should take this with ease IMO, but his performance in this tournament overall has been disappointing that I think Sylveon can snatch a victory. Plus I was impressed with their team last week so I wonder what they'll be cooking against Ho3n. But I don't like doubting ho3n and hope he'll take a win this week tbh.

Bonus, MNM Predicts.
SS Mix and Mega: ItsChew. vs Quantum Tesseract
I trust my OMFL manager to take an upset lol. QT is crazy good though so it's easily a hot take, but I trust!

SS Mix and Mega: Damflame 3 vs Xavgb
It's Xavgb we're talking about. This feels like a one-sided matchup. But I like Danflame 3 so perhaps an upset can happened? o.o

SS Mix and Mega: Jordy vs TectonicDestroyer
Somehow I feel like Tect will be advantageous from early/mid game, but somehow make it more difficult for himself in the endgame except I think Jordy will fully capitalize it since Jordy's endgame is scary af no cap. I love both players, but I'll have to go and pick Jordy in this one.

SS Mix and Mega: TeamCharm vs Trade
Idk both of them in mix n mega context, but TeamCharm was my partner in NFEPL V so get that fucking W yooooo.

Greetings kind people of the Other Metagame Community that are reading the 25th post of the thread showcasing the Week 7 of the 10th edition of the Other Metagame Premier League. I have the humble pleasure and honour to announce the substitution of the great MAMP aka THE CHAMP, player of Balanced Hackmons eight generation style for the no-less impressive anaconja in the same tough slot for their confrontation against the kind and yet powerful player Tea Guzzler member of the impressive Spinda Wheels team, skillfully managed by the great and dynamic duo in the hills and xavgb.
I hope you are all as excited as myself for this confrontation and I believe we can all except a tough, amazing, great battle between those two excellent players!
I am also kindly pinging UT and Isaiah to notify them of this change and I take this opportunity to thanks them for their great hosting since the beginning of this tournament :]
Have a great day OM community, and may the best win!
