move 2: Knock Off

move 4: Bulk Up

evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Obstagoon is a potent wallbreaker in OU due to its access to Guts, which, when combined with its STAB combination and good offensive stats, allows it to reliably break past physically defensive Pokemon such as Seismitoad, Toxapex, and Clefable. Knock Off allows Obstagoon to cripple Pokemon like Corviknight and Ferrothorn by removing their items and can dissuade Ghost-types from switching into it. Obstruct gives Obstagoon a free turn for setting up Guts, scouts for Choice-locked foes, and makes breaking defensive Pokemon like Corviknight and Ferrothorn easier. Obstagoon is a decent Bulk Up user because it often forces switches, and this move makes it easier to break past defensive Pokemon it couldn't before. Switcheroo is an interesting option to cripple switch-ins like Terrakion, Ferrothorn, and Corviknight by removing their item and burning them. Close Combat could be useful for catching Tyranitar and Ferrothorn on the switch, but the Defense drops from Obstruct allow Obstagoon to beat these Pokemon with Facade anyway. A Jolly nature is preferred so that Obstagoon can threaten Pokemon such as Rotom-H, Kyurem, and Excadrill.

Keep in mind that while it forces switches itself, Obstagoon can be forced out by faster offensive threats like Zeraora, Keldeo, and Dragapult. Obstagoon is also prone to being worn down quickly due to the burn from Flame Orb and continuously switching into resisted attacks and entry hazards. Obstagoon synergizes extremely well with Ghost-types such as Aegislash, Gengar, and Dragapult. Dragapult can also function as a pivot for Obstagoon and bring it into battle safely with U-turn. Fairy-types such as Clefable, Togekiss, and Sylveon can easily check Fighting-types for Obstagoon. Clefable can also pass Wish to Obstagoon, slow down opposing Pokemon with Thunder Wave, and function as a pivot with Teleport, while Togekiss appreciates Obstagoon's ability to threaten Pokemon like Corviknight and Rotom-H. Entry hazard removers such as Corviknight, Excadrill, and Rotom-H can notably increase Obstagoon's longevity. Other Pokemon such as Conkeldurr can help deal with faster Pokemon such as Terrakion, Zeraora, and Keldeo.

Sorry for making you do extra work, but we've decided that the set should be:

name: Wallbreaker
move 1: Facade
move 2: Knock Off
move 3: Bulk Up
move 4: Obstruct
item: Flame Orb
ability: Guts
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

Basically close combat is redundant considering that you're already beating pretty much every Close Combat target with Obstruct's defence drop; explain why Close Combat is generally worse but still usable in the moves section.

Obstagoon is a potent wallbreaker in OU due to its access to Guts, which combined with its STAB combination, good offensive stats, and coverage in Close Combat allows it to 2HKO physically defensive Pokemon such as Seismitoad, Toxapex, and Hippowdon. Personally, I'm not really a fan of how this is phrased considering that it can easily be interpreted as close combat is what enables obstagoon to pressure the mentioned mons. Its access to Knock Off allows Obstagoon to cripple these aforormentioned threats and can dissuade Ghost-types from switch in into it, notably OHKOing maximum HP Aegislash. Close Combat allows Obstagoon to threaten Pokemon like Terrakion, Tyrantiar, and Bisharp you're realistically only using CC to hit tyranitar / ferrothorn as terrakion cannot afford to lose its item in most matchups and bisharp is taking far too much from facade to ever consider switching in. even in the scenario that it comes in after goon's gotten a kill or whatever, all it's doing is giving goon a free chance to click facade twice considering that it's not doing anywhere near enough to goon, hell it even gives it a free chance to click BU so it's certainly not an answer. that attempt to switch into its STAB moves. Obstruct allows Obstagoon to activate Guts for free and scout for choice-locked Pokemon and coverage from Pokemon such as Ferrothorn, Corviknight, and Aegislash. I mean you're mostly using obstruct to bypass these mons without realistically losing anything considering that you're pretty much forced to attack goon if you're using ferro / corvi so mention that instead; replace the aegislash mention with hatterene since ohkoing physdef hatterene is absolutely huge and scouting for aegislash is absolutely pointless when you're pretty much always beating it. Bulk Up is also a decent option to boost Obstagoon's offensive and defensive presence since it often forces switches specifically mention that it allows you to ohko physdef clef ,pex, and seismi at +1; you're also reliably 2hkoing hippowdon and ttar with facade which you normally couldn't do. and Keep in mind that while it forces switches itself, Obstagoon can be forced out by faster offensive threats like Zeraora, Keldeo, and Dragapult. Adamant is generally preferred for the raw power it has, while Jolly can be ran instead to outspeed Pokemon such as Excadrill and Kommo-o. Remove all adamant mentions; it's pretty much useless in a meta where rotom-h and kyurem are so common and it doesn't do anything notable in terms of rolls, especially with the newer set.

Pairing Obstagoon with a Ghost-type wallbreaker such as Aegislash, Gengar, and Dragaput should be considered as teammates since they can switch into Fighting-type moves for Obstagoon. except that none of them can actually do this reliably enough for this to be a point on its own; the whole reason that you're using goon w/ ghosts is because it absolutely dominates the majority, if not all of the good ghost checks, so leave the mention at that and remove this. In return, Obstagoon provides a soft-check to rival Ghost-types and can soften defensive walls so that they can sweep later. Pivots such as Rotom-H or Rotom-W are also appreciated, since they can bring Obstagoon into battle for free and can threaten Corviknight. Since the set is now obstruct + bu the threatening corvi section is almost pretty much redundant anyways. Hazard setters like Excadrill, Hippowdon, or Clefable can provide extra chip damage so that Obstagoon can secure a 2HKO against defensive Pokemon like Seismitoad or Toxapex. This shit is too obvious; replace this with something that can deal with the faster offensive threats like clef and all that

Tag me once you've implemented everything. If there's anything you need me to explain, hmu @ curiosity # 2758 on discord or shoot me a VM.

Obstagoon is a potent wallbreaker in OU due to its access to Guts, which combined with its STAB combination and good offensive stats allows it to 2HKO I'd rather you mention that it breaks past these mons reliably; replace Hippo with Clefable since it breaks past it much more reliably physically defensive Pokemon such as Seismitoad, Toxapex, and Hippowdon. Its access to Knock Off allows Obstagoon to cripple these aforementioned threats I don't know how to feel about this statement since while it's true, you're clicking facade like 90% of the time; perhaps explicitly mention Corviknight and Ferrothorn in particular since (again) you're only ever clicking it vs those + ghosts and the crippling pivots stuff isn't as important when you can just remove them altogether and can dissuade Ghost-types from switch in into it, notably OHKOing maximum HP Aegislash. Obstruct not only allows Obstagoon to set up Guts for free and scout for Choice-locked Pokemon, but it also harshly lowers the defenses of any bulky Pokemon that tries to attack it with Body Press idk why you've decided to mention Body Press in particular, since it's hitting all contact moves, meaning that Obstagoon can 2HKO Ferrothorn with Facade and potentially OHKO Corviknight with Knock Off after Stealth Rock damage. Obstagoon is a decent Bulk Up user since it often forces switches. It's worth noting that a +1 Obstagoon can OHKO physically defensive Clefable, Toxapex, and Seismitoad and 2HKO Hippowdon with Facade, which it otherwise couldn't do. Close Combat could be useful for catching Tyranitar and Ferrothorn on the switch, but the defense drops from Obstruct allow Obstagoon to beat these Pokemon with Facade anyway.

This sentence should be moved down to the next paragraph and add counterplay options w/ this A Jolly Nature is preferred so that Obstagoon can threaten Pokemon such as Rotom-H, Kyurem, Excadrill, and Kommo-o. Remove the Kommo-o mention since if they're running max speed then it's going to be coming w/ a speed boost so realistically you're never outspeeding it

Pairing Obstagoon with a Ghost-type wallbreaker such as Aegislash, Gengar, and Dragaput can be considered since Obstagoon beats thier defensive checks, allowing them to potentially clean or sweep later on. Dragapult can also function as a pivot for Obstagoon, as it can bring it into battle safely with U-turn. Hazard removers such as Corviknight, Excadrill, and Cinderace can clear the battlefield for Obstagoon, notably increasing its longevity. Other Pokemon such as Clefable, Dugtrio, and Conkeldurr can help deal with faster Pokemon such as Terrakion, Zeraora, and Keldeo.

Mention fighting checks like Clefable / Togekiss / Sylveon since they all are able to benefit from Obstagoon in one way or another; Clefable can pass wishes w/ teleport and Togekiss also appreciates it being able to wear down stuff like Rotom-H and Corviknight. Sylveon does basically the same thing as clef but just worse overall.

Its access to Knock Off allows Obstagoon to cripple Pokemon like Corviknight and Ferrothorn by removing thier items and can dissuade Ghost-types from switch in into it, notably OHKOing maximum HP Aegislash. This isn't really very notable given these variants of Aegislash are mono-Shadow Ball for attacking moves, meaning Obstagoon walls them to hell and back. Obstruct not only allows Obstagoon to set up Guts for free and scout for Choice-locked Pokemon, but it also harshly lowers the defenses of any bulky Pokemon that tries to attack it with contact moves, meaning that Obstagoon can 2HKO Ferrothorn with Facade and potentially OHKO Corviknight with Knock Off after Stealth Rock damage. Verbose, this sentence can be reduced to a three item list that notes 1) free Guts setup, 2) scout Choice item holders, and 3) eases breaking defensive Pokemon. I think you can just note that Bulk Up lets it break shit it otherwise can't and where it forces switches.

Add a mention of Switcheroo here.

I'd just note the generally solid offensive synergy between Obstagoon and Ghost-types rather than focusing specifically on Obstagoon complementing them well. Switcheroo is an interesting tech to burn Pokemon like Terrakion and cripple a defensive switch in like Corviknight by burning it and removing its items. not really sure why these two examples are separated, you can just mention how it cripples switch-ins like Terrakion, Ferrothorn, etc. by removing their item and burning them Close Combat could be useful for catching Tyranitar and Ferrothorn on the switch, but the defense drops from Obstruct allow Obstagoon to beat these Pokemon with Facade anyway. Its access to Knock Off allows Obstagoon to cripple Pokemon like Corviknight and Ferrothorn by removing thier their items and can dissuade Ghost-types from switch in switching into it ("switching in" works too; not sure what you originally wanted to say).
