The deadline for weeks I host is 10pm EST (GMT-4). It was this way during the three weeks I hosted during NUSD and last NUPL; I do not intend to change this during this edition if it is up to me, but if managers feel strongly, then I don’t mind reconsidering for future weeks. I have never had an issue with this previously, but circumstances change and it’s on hosts and regulators to keep up with their communities needs.
I went with this deadline in the past and for week 1 as I have to wake up before 6am, so piling another thing on for late Sunday night is a logistical nightmare for me. With this said, I am sorry if anyone was confused or not accustom to it.
I thought it was clear given my history, but I also realize that it’s incredibly easy to glaze over a line in the OP, especially when you are trying to schedule with someone across the world. I don’t know that I did something outright wrong — I don’t think so, but I also think that as a host, it’s my job to adhere tournament rules while fostering an environment where games can be played. This week, that wasn’t made fully possible due to a number of factors and I don’t love that. I am sorry for that as well.
At the end of the day, barring any outstanding circumstances, deadlines exist to be enforced. Games scheduled for an hour after the deadline are not going to happen. Rulings aren’t going to change just because weeks are closely contested. And so on. The Etern game is a deadgame because of this. I hate having our flagship tournament’s first week end like this, but any other decision would be incorrect.
