Alright Smogon as a educator I am able to see first hand what gen alpha is like in classroom. I'm 23 and would like to continue my bloodline so this is something that interests me. I won't go into details nor tell what I've seen but this is more a thread for me.

Those who are parents: Please tell me what your thoughts are

Those who aren't parents but want to be: Please tell me what your thoughts are

According to statistics, a majority of children as early as 7 have access to smart phones. As a parent or future parent when do you think is the optimal time to provide your child with access to the internet.

Not a parent nor have I ever seen one in a Classroom, but kids from Gen Alpha are fucking stupid and watch skibidi toliet while yapping about some ohioian rizz and screaming about some obscure show about a dog I've never heard before that's now just become popular and is strangling the merch from the kids' industry. My advice is to keep 5 meters (or 16.4042 god bless American feet) away from those psychopaths before they tear you to shreads.

I think the hardest part about this question is trying to understand where the internet is going to be down years down the line. Idk about other countries but in North America we're increasingly seeing automated scams and bullshit content flood social media and content platforms. What was the prime social media website for the world became a neo-Nazi hellscape that runs pornography and scams for advertising revenue every 6 comments. YouTube is so bad for scams that my profs get those bullshit GAI-voiced "buy a military-grade camera drone" ads on YouTube. The market for bullshit content is so saturated that these days there are creators entirely dedicated to doing voice overs of other people's mediocre how-to videos. I'd rather stick to better-quality educational content suites (libraries, PBS, TVO, Disney Plus) and books for my future children. When they're teenagers there are going to be long talks about social media, what I've seen it do to my peers, and what it really is and how it changes your behaviour. Is the fraud "gold rush" going to last? Will we see the end of unregulated tech companies by then, or are the e/acc Nazis going to swallow the entirety of Silicon Valley?

Of course, bold of me to assume there won't be somehow even more pressing internet issues in the future.

also skibidi toilet alone is enough to restore faith in the youth. I for one am happy kids today are still enjoying garrys mod and letting loose their creativity in it
