Wartortle @ Eviolite
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 136 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 116 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shell Smash
- Hydro Pump / Surf
- Ice Beam
- Substitute / Refresh / Rapid Spin

To all the non-NFE players out there, think of all the checks to Drapion and Overqwil. You're probably picturing fat ground types, Tinkaton, fat unaware mons, exceptionally bulky Poison types and really physically tanky water types. A similar dynamic exists in NFE. Common checks to Qwilfish include Tinkatuff, Gabite, Crocalor, Piloswine, Gurdurr, Bulky Waters (including opposing Wartortle) and Golbat, depending on the set. More uncommon checks include Phys Def Marshtomp, Palpitoad, Koffing, Hippopotas and Ferroseed.

A lot of these checks get blown back by shell smash Wartortle when played properly. Most stuff on this list are scared out by Wartortle and the few stuff that can take its hits (e.g. Golbat and Tinkatuff) are put in range by +2 Hydro Pump. Similarly, Qwilfish-H forces out bulky grasses (like Roselia and Servine) and Clefairy that can eat a hit from Wartortle. Plus, our pufferfish friend sets up Spikes/T-Spike to let the turtle sweep.

EVs came from zastra and I agree with their vision. Max Special Attack is a no-brainer since you want maximum damage output. Speed investment creeps Rhydon creepers (181 speed). Rest of the EVs are dumped into HP and Spec Def. You can always do something funky like live Magmar HP Grass, but I'm not willing to crack that code. Hydro for power, Surf for consistency, yadda yadda. Ice Beam hits grasses and most other water resists/immunes. Substitute facilitates set up on more passive stuff like non-haze Mareanie, Refresh means you can deal with para/toxic spammers and Rapid spin is for utility if you wanna go that route.

Core is weak to offensive pressure from pretty much any mon faster than max speed Qwilfish. Even something like Frogadier can Taunt Wartortle before it can set up, and plough through H-qwil with little chip. Pairing it with screens is a good option to help mitigate this drawback. Haze Mareanie can be a pain for this team as well, particularly when H-qwil gets burnt. Pairing it with future sight users is another good option.

Week 7: ND STABmons Swords Dance Ogerpon-Hearthflame
:sv/Ogerpon-Hearthflame:
Ogerpon-Hearthflame @ Hearthflame Mask
Ability: Mold Breaker
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Pyro Ball
- Swords Dance
- Trailblaze
- Flower Trick
SD Ogerpon-Hearthflame is a powerful sweeper in ND STAB, being able to blow holes past unprepared teams. Trailblaze allows it to outspeed most of the metagame and pyro ball+flower act as powerful stabs. however, using both SD and trailblaze may not be realistically possible, and without the +1 boost, it's prone to being outsped and revenge killed by faster mons like MAero, IVal, etc. Non-SD stabs may not deal the damage you'd like.

Who do you think would be the perfect match? You have a week to find the answer to that question.

LOrd Fernado

I COULD BE BANNED!

Ursaluna-Bloodmoon (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Mind's Eye
EVs: 252 HP / 188 Def / 68 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Boomburst
- Calm Mind
- Earth Power / Scorching Sands
- Shore Up

firstly, ogerpon-h is broken plz ban.
this ursaluna-bm set partners perfectly with ogerpon-h, since ogerpon-h has barely any counters. the ones it does have however, (skeledirge and heatran), almost instantly fold to freddy fazbear over here. the evs outspeed aegislash which makes sure it doesn't 2hko with close combat or sacred sword. there are no sp.atk or sp.def evs because of cm which also means that iron valiant and mega aerodactyl can't revenge kill it

:sv/baxcalibur:
Baxcalibur @ Loaded Dice
Ability: Ice Body / Thermal Exchange
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant / Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Scale Shot / Ice Shard
- Glacial Lance / Icicle Spear
- Earthquake

Borrowed this from a veil team I made for NDOTSL that I didn't get to use. One thing to note is that this doesn't really do anything that different from what Baxcalibur does in standard. Glaive Rush and Dragon Darts are all options that it can explore on Choice Band, DD or other SD sets, but Loaded Dice doesn't need any flashy new tools when the existing movepool it has is this solid. You're almost always using either Scale Shot or Icicle Spear or both, so Loaded Dice is the best item. I had Ice Body on my team but I can understand the value Thermal Exchange has for teams not using Veil or Chilly Reception. Thermal Exchange also punishes Wisps from your usual defensive responses. Adamant for power, Jolly to at least tie with max speed Tusk.

Scale Shot is preferable for its ability to snowball once Ogerpon goes to town but Ice Shard helps pick off stuff like Aerodactyl (Band or Mega), Thundurus, Tornadus-Therian, Scarf Landorus-Therian and Roaring Moon which all annoy Ogerpon-Hearthflame. Glacial Lance has more consistent damage than Spear, but Spear is nice in picking off sashes (if you're not using Ice Shard). EQ is mandatory since you'd want to wear down Pokemon like Heatran and Skeledirge for Ogerpon.

Having something with Bax's coverage profile is pretty valuable considering this Ogerpon Hearthflame set doesn't carry Play Rough to hit Dragons and Defensive Fire Types. Both help each other overwhelm responses to the other.

aaaand the week is up, congratulations to LOrd Fernado (ursaluna-bm) and Velcroc (baxcalibur) for winning!
next up
:sv/tapu-lele:
Week 8: ND AAA Psychium Z Tinted Lens Tapu Lele!
Tapu Lele @ Psychium Z
Ability: Tinted Lens
Tera Type: Psychic
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psyshock
- Moonblast
- Psychic
- Calm Mind
CM Tapu Lele is a dangerous setup sweeper and breaker, being able to break past teams with its STABs alone (bolstered by Tinted which allows it to hit steel types). However, it's quite slow for an offensive mon and may not always have to opportunity to set up, and is prone to being revenge killed. How will you support it?
You have 1 week.

:sv/Blissey: :Heavy-Duty Boots:
Blissey (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Seismic Toss
- Soft-Boiled
- Teleport
- Thunder Wave

Tapu Lele doesn't require any breaking support as Tinted Lens + Psyshock is essentially all it needs to decimate the tier, however, it's prone to being revenge killed by Gengar, Iron Moth, and Walking Wake. Blissey's ability to wall the latter three and slow them down via Thunder Wave enables Tapu Lele late-game. Additionally, Blissey isn't afraid of clicking Teleport due to Regenerator, safely pivoting in Tapu Lele.
