Project National Dex UU Next Best Thing: Cycle 18 - Crobat (Voting)

Ending the vote a day early because I want to get on track again with the previous schedule. So with enough votes for Calm Mind, GiyuForPresident has won this week of Next Best Thing, congratulations! Your victory shall be added to the hall of fame shortly.

Cycle 12
:ss/gastrodon:

With the departure of Melmetal, Seismitoad and Swampert aren't as necessary as they once were, which opens up Gastrodon a lot more. Can you find its next best set?

Banned Sets
Deadline is May 20

Reserving offensive

Gastrodon @ Life Orb
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 96 HP / 160 Def / 252 SpA
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Hydro Pump
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Ice Beam

Will drop some interesting calcs later but pair it with a mon that forces Surging Strikes from TR's biggest roadblock in Urshifu-RS like Sub SD A-Marowak and all the switch-ins are gone.

Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain / Sticky Hold
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Waterfall
- Earthquake / Toxic / Skitter Smack
- Curse
- Recover

I did the thingy with the thingy and pulled a gen 4 set out of my builder

since we can’t run standard spdef just replace toxic with curse boom bam done

you can run toxic over eq because there aren’t many water imunes and the few there are toxic beats

you can also go rest talk but don’t because it’s worse:totodiLUL:

Storm drain over sticky like 90% of the time so shifu can’t gaurenteed crit it’s way through curse buffs

Skitter can be run for tang and rude and king and stuff like that ig

Get a turn of setup, and sweep, pretty straightfoward. You can also use Recover for better longevity thanks to the bulk increases, but you lose either tbolt or ice beam.

Probably would have been better before light clay was banned, but who cares. Although sub and recover will negate predictions to an extent, more coverage is helpful since there are just some fat stuff you can't break through just by simply hiding behind subs or keep spamming recover. No calcs are really needed since those moves are what pory-z usually runs anyways

reserving broken specs

:sm/porygon z:

Porygon-Z @ Choice Specs
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Tri Attack
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Trick / Shadow Ball

Tri Attack against neutral targets = Kill
Tbolt hits Steela/Scizor/Slowking
Ice Beam covers Rhyperior/Av Tang
Shadow Ball is fine if you want a neutral hit on everything

+1 252+ SpA Porygon-Z Thunderbolt vs. 248 HP / 180 SpD Scizor: 163-192 (47.5 - 55.9%) -- 80.9% chance to 2HKO
+1 252+ SpA Porygon-Z Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Celesteela: 238-280 (59.7 - 70.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 252+ SpA Porygon-Z Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 180 SpD Solid Rock Rhyperior: 307-363 (70.7 - 83.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

+1 252+ SpA Adaptability Porygon-Z Tri Attack vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Swampert: 228-270 (56.4 - 66.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 20 HP / 252 SpA / 236 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Tri Attack
- Nasty Plot
- Agility
- Shadow Ball

Double dance modest still doing masive damage without boost, and nothing in the meta can hold well a +2 Z Move

+2 252+ SpA Adaptability Porygon-Z Breakneck Blitz (160 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Celesteela: 280-330 (70.3 - 82.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

236spe Outspeeds timid Eleki after Agility

Works well on Screens and Pursuit suport for Ghost Types

You are mistaken, tri attack is not listed in the banned set and therefore isn't one
Its still Z Conversion, making different variations of the same set isn't any different to the what's banned. It's up to the host I guess.

Porygon-Z @ Salac Berry
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute
- Nasty Plot
- Tri Attack
- Ice Beam/ Thunderbolt

I tried my best to be creative(I know, I'm sorry for not reading and posting the z conversion set.) Another alternative can be agility over nasty plot and run a Petaya Berry instead, do I feel like it might be worse than this version.
