Suspect Test Reasoning

Hello everyone, the NatDex Monotype council has decided to suspect test Urshifu-S this time around. Urshifu-S has been a threatening Pokemon ever since its release. The main component of its threatening presence is Wicked Blow, its signature move that always results in a critical hit, giving it a 120 BP move essentially that ignores an Attack drop or Defense boosts for the other team, making it much harder to wall for defensive Pokemon and extremely rewarding to use. Its ability Unseen Fist enables it to bypass protection through the use of contact moves, which comprise its strongest STAB attacks in Wicked Blow and Close Combat, along with a great utility move in U-Turn to maintain momentum. Its offensive prowess has cemented itself as a crucial Pokemon to use on Dark- and Fighting-type teams. A decent movepool consisting of Iron Head, Poison Jab, and U-turn lets it keep up the pressure against some Pokemon that can check it like Tapu Fini and Clefable. A solid Speed tier lets at base 97, also lets it outspeed key threats like Tapu Lele, Mimikyu and Kyurem. It has good defensive support from Mandibuzz, Mega Sableye, and Tyranitar as well as Dual Screens support from Grimmsnarl on Dark-type teams make it tough to check, while Fighting-type teams have enough offensive presence to weaken the shared checks and counters for it.

Urshifu-S also has 3 sets to choose from. Each with a different purpose. The Choice Band set lets it be a solid wallbreaker which even defensive teams cannot handle well. The Bulk Up set lets it use moves freely while allowing it to set up and make it harder to beat due to its good natural physical bulk at 100/100 and faster Pokemon that attempt to revenge kill it are met with STAB Sucker Punch. The Choice Scarf set on the other hand can easily dispatch threats to Dark- and Fighting-type teams like Tapu Lele with minor chip damage and it can clear Psychic and Ghost-type teams without much opposition.
