Cycle 1, Slate 5: Speed Duality

For the fifth slate we propose cores that take advantage of both fast and slow Pokemon. Knowing when you can afford to be slow and when you have to go fast is the key to this challenge.

:ss/Weavile: :ss/Glastrier:
Example Tag: CCIc1 Neko
Weavile, one of the fastest options on Ice with sets from Scarf, Band, setup and more. The utility of it's Attack and Speed is an important part of Ice builds. Glastrier on the other hand is one of the slowest. Boasting high Attack and bulk with an ability to increase Attack per KO, if set up properly Glastrier can sweep all on it's own.

:ss/nihilego: :ss/slowking-galar:
Example tag: CCPo1 Style
Nihilego also has a wide variety of viable sets. Most commonly in Monotype are Scarf or Power Herb to boost Speed, but other tiers take advantage of utiltiy sets as well. To back up Nihilego is Galar's best new Regenerator, Slowking. With great typing, stats, ability, and movepool Slowking-Galar is so flexible on Poison teams to back up the defensive core. AV is the standard but Calm Mind sets have been used as well.

Bronze: 1300 ELO
Silver: 1400 ELO
Gold: 1500 ELO
Platinum: 1500+ ELO with 80% GXE

Congratulations to Riku Sakuraba for finishing with Gold on both challenges.

Cycle 1, Slate 6 Priority

For the sixth slate we propose cores that utilize Priority moves to get the upper hand in battles. After all, what can your opponent do when they cannot retaliate at all?

:ss/tapu-bulu: :ss/decidueye:
Example Tag: CCGr1 Neko
With access to Swords Dance, a trapping move in Spirit Shackle, and priority in Shadow Sneak and Grassy Glide, Decidueye can potentially take advantage of passive Pokemon to set up its own sweep. Tapu Bulu sets Grassy Terrain to make Grassy Glide more terrifying, and also removes Dark-types that threaten this Owl.

:ss/smeargle: :ss/linoone:
Example tag: CCNo1 Style
Even with the nerf of Gluttony, Linoone is a force to be reckoned with, especially with Sticky Web support. With Extreme Speed guaranteed to always strike first, a +6 Linoone turns into a terrifying cat that cannot be struck down. Smeargle pairs well with this furret, due to its ability to set multiple entry hazards to weaken the opposing team for Linoone.

Bronze: 1300 ELO
Silver: 1400 ELO
Gold: 1500 ELO
Platinum: 80% GXE

Congratulations to Riku Sakuraba for finishing with Gold on both challenges.

Cycle 1, Slate 7: Old and New

For the seventh slate we propose cores that utilize an established mon to complement their relatively unexplored team mate. Who knows, maybe you'll end up discovering a new favorite Pokemon to use?

:ss/thundurus: :ss/zeraora:

Example Tag: CCEl1 Neko
With access to two excellent abilities in Defiant and Prankster, Thundurus can pack nasty surprises for the opposing team. However, its mixed stats always end up it doing not quite enough damage, and its mediocre bulk and Speed means that it will get outsped and dispatched by faster threats such as Mega Lopunny and Cinderace. Zeraora helps in this regard, being a strong physical attacker with colorful coverage to finish off teams weakened by Thundurus, and dealing with faster threats it struggles against.

:ss/lycanroc-dusk: :ss/tyranitar:
Example tag: CCRo1 Style
With an excellent speedtier, a wide pool of coverage moves, access to priority in the form of Accelerock, and Swords Dance, Lycanroc-Dusk can be a unique wallbreaker or late-game sweeper for Rock teams. However, its bulk is quite disappointing and Choice Scarf users such as Latias can easily revenge kill it. Tyranitar remedies these faults by providing Sandstorm, which improves Lycanroc's meager bulk, and Pursuit, which traps pesky revenge killers.

Bronze: 1300 ELO
Silver: 1400 ELO
Gold: 1500 ELO
Platinum: 80% GXE
