Munchlax is a special wall with Thick Fat and a Ghost immunity, making it a counter to Lampent as well as a good sponge for other special attackers like Electabuzz and Hattrem. The problem with Munchlax is that it is very passive and competes with other special walls like Marshtomp and Vullaby that have more relevant typings and utility. Munchlax's unique perks stem from spreading Body Slam paralysis and phazing with Whirlwind, and most teams have a hard time justifying these traits over its competition. An investment of 252 Defense and 252 Special Defense EVs is the best way to make use of Munchlax's bulk due to its high HP stat.

Duosion is another special wall that pairs well with Munchlax for its Fighting resistance, passive recovery, and Future Sight support to pair with Whirlwind. Entry hazard setters like Piloswine, Roselia, and Ferroseed also help buff Whirlwind and use Munchlax as a pivot against specially offensive Fire-types. For Raboot, which has High Jump Kick for Munchlax, it is best to have Water-types like Wartortle and Mareaine. Fighting-type switch-ins like Golbat, Koffing, and Ivysaur are also warranted to check Gurdurr. Knock Off absorbers such as Golbat and Tangela are appreciated to preserve Munchlax's Eviolite, and they can run Thief to regain their items. Staying in on walls like Golbat and Tangela to use Body Slam can be worth it to trigger paralysis when paired with wallbreakers like Flame Body Gurdurr and Hex Gastly.

Other Options
=============
Instead of Whirlwind, Curse is one alternative to make Munchlax a defensive sweeper. Toxic is another option to hit walls and Ghost-types. (Are other coverage moves never considered to hit Ghost-types like Gastly?)

Checks and Counters
===================
**Fighting-types and Fighting-type Coverage**: Gurdurr, Mienfoo, and Machoke easily deal with Munchlax and force it out. Even their Knock Off can be a problem. High Jump Kick Raboot is one Fire-type that Munchlax outright loses to, and even Electabuzz has a chance to beat a worn-down Munchlax with Focus Blast.

**Physical Attackers**: Choice Band and Swords Dance users like Piloswine, Thwackey, Fraxure, and Rufflett break through Munchlax. Knock Off users like Galarian Linoone make Munchlax much easier to break as well.

**Item Removal**: Knock Off users like Galarian Linoone and Tangela, and Thief users like Golbat make Munchlax much easier to break. Trick users like Lampent and Gastly not only remove Munchlax's Eviolite but completely it shut it down as Munchlax's long-term walling capabilities rely on being able to switch up its moves.

**Stallbreakers**: Taunt prevents recovery and Sleep Talk, so Munchlax could lose to Taunt users if it is in a bad position; this is a glaring flaw given that special attackers like Electabuzz and Magmar would otherwise lose out to Munchlax. Other stallbreakers like Golbat and Tangela are even more of an issue to it.

Munchlax is a special wall with Thick Fat and a Ghost immunity, making it a counter to Lampent as well as a good sponge for other special attackers like Electabuzz and Hattrem. Feels like you can move Thick Fat in the second-last sentence and replace Lamp with another special attacker - Lamp is the only target munch can reliably wall. The problem with Munchlax is that it is very passive and competes with other special walls like Marshtomp and Vullaby that have more relevant typings and utility. Munchlax's unique perks stem from spreading Body Slam paralysis and phazing with Whirlwind, and most teams have a hard time justifying these traits over its competition. could rephrase second part of this sentence with “where most teams lack room for these traits” An investment of 252 Defense and 252 Special Defense EVs is the best way to make use of Munchlax's bulk due to its high HP stat. Perhaps rewrite the sentence to “Full investment its defenses strengthens Munchlax’s bulk, since its HP is already quite high.”

Replace “help buff” with “synergies well with” For Raboot, which has High Jump Kick for Munchlax, it is best to have Water-types like Wartortle and Mareaine. Fighting-type switch-ins like Golbat remove, name other examples, Koffing, and Ivysaur are also warranted to check Gurdurr. Knock Off absorbers such as Golbat remove, name other examples and Tangela are appreciated to preserve Munchlax's Eviolite, and they can run Thief to regain their items. Staying in on walls like Golbat remove, name other examples and Tangela to use Body Slam can be worth it to trigger paralysis when paired with wallbreakers like Flame Body Gurdurr and Hex Gastly. I’d probably mention how most physical wallbreakers (e.g. CB Piloswine, Thwackey, Lairon) still threaten a lot of damage due to Munchlax’s lacking defense, so naming a few physical walls can help
